Chapter 41 - Damned if you do, and damned if you don't.

The pain in my grandmother’s eyes was too overwhelming, but I wouldn’t apologize. If she had told me what I was years ago, we probably wouldn’t be in this mess in the first place. I could have made the necessary preparations to avoid Daniel completely.

I knew I was being unreasonable, but I couldn’t help it. I wasn’t just fighting for my life, but also for the lives of the people in my pack. From what I could remember of those last moments, even though we outnumbered Blackridge, we were losing.

I tried to think back to that awful fight and tried to remember if I had seen Daniel, but I couldn’t. Was he even there? I couldn’t imagine Daniel as the kind of person that would send his people to war without going himself. Then again, if I was completely honest with myself, I didn’t really know Daniel all that well.
