Right!? Especially with the threats she's already facing, having her daughter be threatened once before, being chased ON SEBASTIAN'S TERRITORY, and a presumed psycho rogue killing indiscriminately. If I had kids, they wouldn't leave my sight in a situation like this.

Yeah, what was the point of that whole chapter? She doesn't even question why he suddenly decides to take her to lunch, despite never doing that before? They don't talk about the marking, their revenge, or anything important. Was it to fool paps? Piss off Darren/Miranda?
