Arabella's POV

Anxiety gnawed at my insides as I entered our room, my eyes scanning the space for any clues. The remnants of Asher's hurried departure were scattered across his desk. Papers hastily pushed aside, a pen abandoned mid-scribble. The room felt emptier than before.

I hesitated, contemplating whether to call him or wait for his return. But the suspense was killing and I decided to take action. Grabbing my phone from the bedside table, I dialed Asher's number, my fingers tapping nervously against the device.

The phone rang multiple times, each ring echoing but it never went through. My worry deepened as the call remained unanswered, and I couldn't shake the unsettling feeling that something was amiss.

Frustration welled up as I ended the call, deciding to send a text message instead. My fingers flew across the screen, typing a message that conveyed both my concern and the need for his immediate response.
