TRISTAN POV
Immediately I arrived in my room, I flung the backpack on the bed.
My legs led me to the wardrobe where I picked up my towel and as soon as I did, I led my way to the bathroom.
After a cold bath, I walked back into the room. It was soothing to be home once again, and more than soothing to not be caught by the police.
What would I have done at this point?
Where would I be by now?
There was no point thinking about it since it was yet to happen.
Once again, my legs led me and I walked to the wardrobe where I picked an outfit for the night before heading to the door.
When I walked out, I snapped my fingers and my guards emerged from their spot.
“I need to see Father,” I said. “You don't have to follow me. Watch over my room.”
They bowed while I walked away.
The room where Father preferred to stay in the evening was quite far from where I was, so I hastened my footsteps, finding my way to the space.
“Good evening, my lord.” A young woman greeted me on my way to the Manor's gate.
“Good evening, my Lady,” I hailed as well, catching up with the door leading to the room where the Alpha sat, waiting for me.
Who else could he be waiting for if not me? I pushed the door open, planting a smile on my face as I walked into the large room. “Father.”
“Tristan,” he looked up, his expression bland and I wondered what was going to happen in the room before I left the space.
“Good evening, Alpha,” I hailed as soon as I got closer. “One of my brothers said you sent for me and I have come.”
The old man moped at me like he didn't know who I was in the first place. There was hate in his eyes and for once, I wondered what brought about his tantrums.
Was I going to be grounded before the end of today? I thought, waiting for him to ask me to sit—something he had yet to do.
“Take a seat.”
Finally, I took a seat in the lower part of the room, while he was seated on the throne in the higher spot.
Now I could not help but admire the throne, thoughts of how to claim it for myself running around in my head.
“Where have you been?”
I looked up, unsure of what I heard.
What did he say? I thought for a moment, wondering how to ask him to repeat himself—something the Alpha doesn't like to do.
“Didn't you hear me?”
“I did not, Father,” I cried. “I was lost in my thoughts. Please, forgive me.”
“Where have you been?”
“I was out with a few of my friends,” I said with a smile. “Not until the attack caused me to hurry back to the pack.”
“I see.” Father sat up.
“Did I not talk to you and the rest of your brothers about a meeting that would be held in the early hours of this morning, last night?”
“Oh!”
I hit my hand on my head.
“How come I forgot about it?” I cried, moping at the man who moped at me with disdain in his eyes.
“Don't tell me that!” One of my brothers walked into the space.
“I called you more than enough times, and so did Orion before leaving the pack for wherever he is. Why did you not pick it up?”
I gazed at Father, then at the man who just walked into the space. He was the oldest of us all and the heir to the throne if all requirements were met when the time was right.
“I didn't see any call from you.”
“What did you say?” He cried. “Do I need to provide proof of this accusation?”
“My phone went off, brother,” I cried. “Maybe I saw a call from you and the others, but I was not disposed to take it when it came in.”
Father got on his feet.
Without saying a word, he left the space, leaving myself and my oldest brother to continue with our conversation.
“Can you see what you've done?” I asked the man who as well turned around and walked out of the space.
“You are the bad egg of this family, Tristan,” he stopped in his tracks and turned around.
“Father and the rest of us have tried more than enough to make out good from you, but I doubt this feat is an easy one to achieve.”
“I—”
He walked away before I let out the words.
A sigh ran out of my mouth and I smiled next, happy that my plans worked out.
At least, Father did not get an answer to all his questions.
The same way my older brother intervened and saved me from being grounded, not knowing he had done me well.
I turned around and led my way out of the room. My legs led me to the dining hall, with hopes of having a good meal before retiring to bed.
“Welcome, my lord.” The guard at the door greeted me when I caught up with the space.
Without saying a word to him, I walked into the space.
The aroma of good food filled the atmosphere, while butterflies ran about in my stomach at the thought of how satisfied I would be at the end of the day.
Suddenly, a car drove into the compound. I looked around me, counting my brothers. We were complete except for one person who was yet to join us at the table.
Orion.
My twin brother and rival.
What was he up to?
Searching the city for who the masked men are? I wondered, smiling as I dug into the plate.
Someone walked into the hall, causing a smile to appear on the faces of my brother.
“There he comes.” One of my many brothers chuckled. “We were just about to eat.”
“I see,” Orion took a seat on one of the chairs. My gaze met his, and he gave me a look I had seldom seen.
What did I do this time?
ORION POV My hate for him cannot be comprehended. Why is he a member of the royal family in the first place? There in the dining hall where we sat, I could not help but gaze at him with pre-hate that was obvious and wondered what exactly went wrong with him. What did he do to the pretty woman? Why did she slap me? For goodness’s sake! That slap was meant for Tristan and ended on my face. After eating, I got on my feet, and without saying a word to the rest of my brothers, I led my way out of the hall. My legs, without hesitation or delay, led me to the Manor and I looked to the right, walking in the direction leading to my royal chamber. On arrival, I threw the key to my car on the bed. A sigh escaped my lips and I fell on the bed as well. There was worry written on my face, if not for anything but on behalf of the women who fell for his trap. They were yet to know how much of a playboy he is, and how he never meant any of his feelings for them. The lay at the club said tw
EMILIA POVMy day at work was a hectic one. From giving accounts for my days at home to submitting files asked for by the manager. For goodness’s sake! I had imagined it would be different in the human world, which was why I left the Pack I belong to in the first place. But do I have to work to feed all the time? Why can't I just feed on humans and be all alright? I dumped my office key on the couch and took a seat next to it. A grimace appeared on my face when I thought of how boring my life had become. What would I do without a man like Tristan? “No way!” I sat up, shoving thoughts about him away from my head. Why was it so hard to forget about a man who played with me and my emotions? Was this the reason why he didn't want me to meet with his family during the first year of our relationship? Even in the second year, he was never willing to let me meet his parents. I have been a stupid woman. What more description would fit into how stupid I was? I got on my feet, picked
ORION POV I looked down at her, a smile on my countenance. For the first time since my encounter with her in the Club's compound, I found her pretty. “Who—” she mouthed, pointing at me. “I don't want to slap you until I am certain. Which one are you?”A chuckle escaped my lips. Who is this woman? I laughed and cocked my neck. “Who do you think it is?”She walked closer, raising her hands to touch my face. “I wouldn't know, but Tristan would not be nice. Not after all he's done.”“I thought as much,” I shifted a bit from the door and let her pass. “You used the male toilet, ma'am. I should have told you on time.”Without saying a word to me, she walked away. I wouldn't blame her, would I? I walked in, shut the door and used the toilet before finding my way out of the space.Somehow, I admired her guts.So she could come to the same bar she got herself embarrassed in, after that day? Who is this woman? I wondered again, shutting the large door and finding my way out of the bathroom.
TRISTAN POV Why was she yet to reach out to me?The last time I checked, Emilia always apologized on my behalf whenever we had issues and all I did was sit and wait to be begged, even when it wasn't her fault. It was good to see, and there was a good feeling that came with it. It has been weeks since I failed to make it to her apartment. Why have I yet to hear from her? Not even a call.A hand knocked on my door and I snapped my fingers, a signal that whoever it was at the door should find his way in. “My lord,” the guard who watched after the door of my room came in. “What is it?”“My lord Logan is here to see you.” He announced with a nod and a bow that followed next. “What does he want?” I was forced to ask while the dumb guard shook his head, signalling to me how unsure and uncertain he was of what Logan had come to do in my room.“Let him in, then,” I urged the man who nodded. He walked out in seconds and when the door opened again, there was one of the many brothers I have
EMILIA POV Who does he think he is?Normally, I was supposed to place thousands of calls and messages to Tristan, even when I knew I had done nothing wrong in this case. My mind was made up, and there was no way I would stoop very low to make such a mistake—not after what Orion told me about him. My life seemed to have become better these days and there was my job in DE ROYALS, keeping me from too many thoughts. I should make new friends. Maybe not. The last time I checked, it was a friendship that led myself and Tristan into being in a relationship I believed would last. Now what? I sipped from the glass of juice in my hand, a grimace on her face.Suddenly, my phone rang. I jumped to my feet and rushed inside from the veranda where I was seated. Without hesitation, my hand touched one of the couches and there was my phone. It was a number I had never called, nor received a call from. In shock, I gazed at the screen of my phone as I contemplated whether or not to take the cal
ORION POV It was one of those days when the Alpha wanted to address the members after a brief meeting with us. All his sons were behind him while he headed out of the pack, to our next destination, the compound. “All hail the Alpha!” The guard at the gate of the Manor yelled, watching members who were around us, turn around and bow their heads. “Long live the Alpha.”Father nodded. He managed a smile on his countenance and when I turned around to check my brothers, I discovered that one of us was missing. “Wolves!” He took a seat on the throne that was dragged out of the hall, moping at the members one after the other. “Welcome to the gathering. You may sit on the floor if you want to.” He told the wolves who nodded, while some did as told.“As you all know,” he began. “I have called you here to let you know what is to happen next.” He mouthed, turning around and saying a word to the guard who stood beside him. The guard lifted his head and met my gaze before heading in my di
ORION POV Before I left the Pack, I picked up the card from the drawer where I kept it. After which I drove into the streets of New Orleans. The address given to me was a familiar one, and locating the house was not a hard task. In less than one hour, I arrived at the gate of the largely looking compound and my hand picked up my phone from the space where it was kept and I dialled the number. “I have arrived at your gate,” I announced to Emilia before ending the call, not caring to hear what she had to say. After a while of waiting, the gate opened. “Drive-in, sir.” The man at the gate urged. He was wearing a uniform and looked quite old.His words made me laugh. “No,” I shook my head. “I did not come to drive in. Besides, the woman I have come to see might not want that.”“I don't bite, Orion Ironclaw,” Emilia showed up at the gate. “Drive in already.” She urged with a smile that came alive on her face. What could I say at this point? If the woman who I came to see asked tha
TRISTAN POV Until now, she was yet to reach out to me. At this point, I didn't care much about it. My business in the meantime was meeting with one of the senators in New Orleans, while I delivered my goods to him. I headed out of the pack this morning, after recovering from the split headache that disturbed me the night before. My legs led me to my car with the box I held tightly so it was not jerked from my hand. “Tristan!” Someone called, causing me to turn around. Who else would it be if not for my twin? Now I managed a smile on my face, gripping the box even tighter. “What is it, Orion?” I asked the man who walked closer to me with obvious disdain on his countenance. “Where are you going?” He asked. “I need to meet with someone in the city, Orion,” I said, heading to my car. “Do you want something?” I asked, stopping in the front of my seat and meeting his gaze again. “Yes,” he mouthed. “No.” He said again and turned around. “I wanted you to drop me off somewhere in th
TRISTAN'S POV He laughed again, laughter that burnt my chest. Laughter that made me want to punch him in the stomach and hit him on the face until I drew blood. “Who knew that in a few weeks, you'll be here with me, eh? Eating leftovers, and about to be judged by a panel of Elders and your own brothers. Life is a rollercoaster, Tristan. And it's your turn to go on that ride.”I shook my head in anger when he shoved me again. “Don't push me!” I hissed angrily. “I'm in charge here, Tristan. And you're going to do as I say. Now move!”He was right. I was now underneath him. He was in charge, and there was nothing I could do. How the mighty falleth!_________ORION'S POVStanding before my brothers and the elders, I raised my hand in silence. Before me, I held the bottle that was filled to the brim with acid, which served as an evidence before the whole court that my brother, Tristan Ironclaw had been charged for the death of a dozen people and conspiracy to kill me and the rest of t
ORION'S POVStaring at Rosalind, I was filled with rage. How could Tristan be so callous? How evil could he be? For him to do such a thing to his brothers meant that he could go to any length to try and destroy most of us. It meant he was willing to go to any length to destroy whoever had been standing in his way on his charge to become the Alpha. It was a good thing that he was locked up, just where he deserved to be. There were no two ways about it. “Denver!”I called out, placing my hand atop Emilia's in order to let her know that she wasn't alone. I was annoyed, but not at her. I was offended by my brother's callousness, by his lack of human empathy, sympathy and love. Being his brother at that moment was something I wouldn't even wish on my worst enemy. He was an evil man, a very callous person, and I wanted him to be paid according to how he had lived his life, according to how evil he had been. “Yes royal one.”Denver was beside me in a flash, the worry on his face mirrorin
EMILIA'S POVBrushing my teeth in the bathroom, I couldn't help but smile time and time again. My head was filled with pleasant thoughts, and that was all I cared for at the moment. I wanted the pleasant thoughts to continue, I didn't want them to end in any way. All I thought of was marriage with Orion Ironclaw, and how I wanted to spend the rest of my days with him. I imagined living in the palace, and I imagined our children running around. He was eventually going to be the Alpha, and I imagined him being disturbed by one or two thoughts and problems that plagued the land, and there I was, comforting him, telling him that everything was going to be alright. It was all I wanted to think about all day, it was where I wanted to be. I loved him to the moon and back, and with Tristan gone and locked up in jail, it was going to be a rollercoaster ride for all of us. I wanted us to get married immediately, because I didn't want any problems or obstacles. Because I wanted to continue be
ORION'S POV “Good morning chef Sarah. I want to prepare something for my girlfriend. I know you guys must have already prepared a meal for the occupants of the palace, but I'd like to prepare something special. And yes, I'd like you guys to help me. But from a distance, please don't interfere.”Sarah smiled, then nodded. It was obvious that she understood where I was coming from. Most of them had heard about the showdown with Tristan, and had probably heard that he was in prison too. Nodding, I noticed a young cook who seemed disturbed by my presence. Her hands were trembling, and she was in a corner, standing as she stared at me. Smiling at her, I noticed that she averted her eyes. But I didn't take it to heart, that was the reaction of most servants when I tried to be friendly. Without skipping a beat, I decided to start preparing breakfast for Emilia before she woke up. Asking questions, I managed to find the eggs and then put them into a bowl before whisking them. Bread was wh
ORION'S POVI stirred awake, the rays of the sun that pierced the windows blinding me monetarily. For a minute, I didn't know where I was. I stared, surprised and in clear wonderment. And then I remembered. I was in the palace, in my room. And beside me was my girlfriend, a woman that I loved and had always loved. A woman that I was ready to lay down my life for, a woman that I was ready to spend the rest of my life with. Just seeing Emilia beside me made me excited. The fact that I hadn't been this close to her in months, that we were not allowed to be close to each other because of obstacles that existed in the form of my brother and her ex boyfriend made me bitter. But all that bitterness had been transformed into love now. I no longer felt bitter towards my brother, who at that moment had been handed unto the hands of the pack by the police force. We were going to deal with him, just as our laws, rules and regulations required, while they were free to deal with the remainder of
EMILIA'S POVI was seated on my bed watching the television when Elena called me, telling me to turn to the NBC News channel immediately. I did so, and I was shocked at what I saw on the television. Tristan Ironclaw had been arrested after he was identified as one of the most notorious criminals of the past year. I couldn't believe it. I was actually free. Him being arrested meant that I was free to go back to my lover, and I was free to go back to the palace as well. My life had been pretty messed up, filled with ups and downs, and it was eventually time for a change. I broke down and wept, still looking at the television. Tristan Ironclaw had been the worst thing to ever happen to me. And now, he was going to jail, where he was going to spend the rest of his days. The evidence against him according to the television was massive, and I found myself wondering what they had found on him. I didn't care. All I seemed to care about at that moment was that my life was finally mine agai
ORION'S POVAs soon as they shook hands, our van drove in, and in a twinkle of an eye, I could see Tristan transform into a wolf. But I was ready. Clutching the gun that was armed with several bullets, I transformed into a wolf as well, blocking his path and tripping him as he began to run. He fell in a heap on the ground, and I pointed the gun at him. He smiled at me, a nervous smile, and I shook my head, perplexed. My twin brother was a hardened criminal. He was laughing even though death was staring him in the face. He was showing that he had no remorse for whatever he had done in the past. He was just showing everybody the type of man he was. “I should've known. Who else will be in charge of my downfall if not for my own twin brother, if not for my nemesis from day one.”“You are your own nemesis, Tristan. The evil you've done in this city is only coming back to haunt you. I am your karma, and I'm telling you right now that you should surrender and hand yourself over to the pol
EMILIA'S POVI nodded, acknowledging at that moment that I loved listening to Orion Ironclaw speak. His voice was soothing, especially for the fact that I hadn't heard it in days. As soon as we were done discussing the matter of Tristan Ironclaw and his masked dealers agency, I proceeded to tell them that I couldn't live with Charles anymore. It was going to be better if I checked into a hotel on the outskirts of town where he would never find me. Agreeing immediately and seemingly annoyed, Orion immediately agreed to it. He wasn't going to let anything happen to me while he was alive, he swore time and time again. I entered the car while we drove to a hotel in the outskirts. There, I checked in, and Orion paid for everything, including my room service. “After all this is over, you'll be back with me in the palace as my wife. We've suffered so much, Emilia, we deserve every good thing in the world. Which is why I'm going to say we should get married as soon as possible.”I clutche
EMILIA'S POVI had swallowed it for too long. I knew that I had tried my best, and I was supposed to move forward. At least, I was supposed to be treated as if I wasn't in a dungeon anymore. If he loved me, he was going to allow me to do what I wished. He was going to let my plans flow as smoothly as I wanted it to. “I need to go out, Charles. I've been locked in here for two weeks. You've bluntly refused to let me go out. Is this love? You say you're afraid of Tristan, but you go out everyday yourself? What does that mean?”He shook his head, then tried to touch me. I ducked immediately, then swore inwardly. Why did he keep trying to touch me? It only made my skin crawl with repulsion, and I wondered if he couldn't see it. I hated him, and he wasn't even seeing it. “You need to understand that you are fragile, Emilia. I love you, and I'm trying to let you understand that.”I shook my head angrily. This wasn't love. It was something else. I didn't deserve to be locked up like an ani
