Mason
I got off the bus and walked toward the school as I took note of everything that met my eyes. Most notably was probably the answer to my question; As I approached the school I watched as a large group of students parted to make way for two others to get through, and I presumed they were the Gordon Twins. The pair walked like they owned the place, the brother wore a leather jacket over a plain white tee, with black jeans underneath, while his sister wore a Purple hoodie with gold letters that said “SPQR” on it with cargo pants. They both carried themselves with the stereotypical attitude of ‘Fuck around and find out’, so, I remembered what the guy on the bus said and made a mental note to ignore them as much as I could.
“Hey, dude wait up!” I heard from behind me, and sure enough, it was the dude from the bus, “I know you saw them, believe me now?”
“I can see how people would both fear and crush on them, yeah,” I said as we walked through the doors and he helped me to where the main office was, “To be frank, I’m going to try and avoid them at all costs, knowing my dumbass, I’d end up crushing on them if they were in any of my classes.”
“Don’t get me wrong, they’re not bad people, but they don’t date,” He said as we got to the main office, “They’re Weres and they’re searching for their mate, so they don’t do casual dating.”
“Neither do I, but that’s beside the point,” I said as I walked up to the front desk, “Excuse me, can I get my schedule?”
“Of course, dear, what’s your name?”
“Mason, Mason Jameson.”
“Alright, here you are, and if you need any help finding your classes, feel free to ask,” She said as she handed me my schedule; I thanked her before leaving the office, and joined the jock outside.
“Mason, well, since I know your name now, it’s only fair I return the favor. My name is Ajax.”
“Ajax, that’s a cool name. Do you mind showing me around for a bit before classes start? I’ll figure it all out eventually, but I’d prefer some help on the first day,” I said as we started walking down the hallway away from the office.
“Sure, I’m a Junior anyways, so, If I’m late to one of my classes I’ll just let ‘em know I was helping you find your way,” Ajax said as he led me around the school, stopping at each of my classes so I could figure out where everything was, “One more thing, aside from the Twins themselves, if anyone gives you any shit, you just let me know.”
“Do I want to know why, or is this just one of those ‘Don’t ask Don’t tell’ type deals,” I asked with a chuckle, and he laughed too which made me a bit more confident, “At least I know my humor isn’t entirely dead, wouldn’t that be a bit of a buzzkill?”
Ajax laughed at my joke as we made our way back to my first class, the bell was about to ring and I didn’t want to be responsible for him being late. I walked in before saying bye to Ajax and took a seat in the back of the class; I never really had any issues with seeing the board, so, I usually ended up sitting in the back so I could write and doodle without it being painfully obvious. I usually paid attention, it’s just that I was easily distracted, so, I kept one of my notebooks labeled ‘My Book of Chaos’ that was essentially just a doodle book.
“Hey bud, can I get your name?”
“Hi, my name is Mason,” I said to the teacher as he sat down with a cup of coffee.
“Mason Jameson?”
“That’s me,” I said and he wrote something on his clipboard before heading back into the hallway.
To pass the time, I started writing with an earbud in that my mom got me. She knew that I sometimes had trouble focusing in class, so as a promise that I would give it my all for my last two years of school, she got me a set of Bluetooth earbuds. ‘Don’t get caught with them in during class, I won’t be there to save you from detention.’ Were her exact words, so, I kept one in while I wrote and when one of them died, I switched them. Before I knew it, the bell had rung and class had started.
“Alright Class, before we get started, I hope you all are okay with your seats because unless you change where you’re seated in the next five minutes, these are your seats for the first quarter,” The teacher said before sitting down at his desk, “My name is Mr. Johnson, but you guys can just call me Johnny, seeing as you’re my first hour and I’m still waking up.”
I chuckled at his statement as he continued talking to the class, and I looked around and realized two things: One, the view from the window was a beautiful distraction, and two, even though I was seated in the back to avoid unwanted attention, I got exactly that. The Gordon Twins sat in the seats beside and in front of me.
“And here I thought the first class would be my easiest,” I said under my breath as I turned down the volume on my earbud and refocused my attention on Johnny as he went through role call.
It had only been the first class, and I could already tell this was going to be an interesting school year. As crazy as it sounds, I could’ve sworn that through the rest of the class the sister of the twins was glaring at me;
‘What does she want with me?’ I thought as the bell rang, signaling that the first hour was over.
Jocelyn As our first class came to an end, my brother, Leo, and I walked out and towards my next class while I brought up the boy that sat next to me in class. While my brother and I were both capable of handling ourselves, I always preferred walking to class with him so I had someone to talk to if something was on my mind. “I don’t get why you were even looking at the guy,” Leo said as we turned down the hall towards my science class, “He looked like your typical quiet kid, you leave him alone and he’ll leave you alone.” “That’s not the point, Leo,” I said before we stopped outside my class, “There’s something different about him, if we have another class with him try and sit next to him, you’ll see what I mean.” “Whatever you say, Sis,” He said before leaving for his second hour. I took my seat in the front so I could see the whiteboard as everyone else flooded in, taking their seats. I was in AP Biology this
Leo After the lovely conversation I had with my sister, I started to remember Astrid, and more specifically, why my sister had a vendetta against her. I didn’t like her at all still, due to our past with her, I just didn’t want to be anywhere near her; My sister, on the other hand, wanted to have her either banished from anywhere our Pack had influence, or fight her. I couldn’t blame her though, in my opinion, Astrid wasn’t even worth our time at this point, but I wasn’t going to tell my sister what to do; The last time I tried to do that, I ended up in charge of both of our chores and more, with my father lecturing me on how it wasn’t my job to order her around. “Hey, Leo,” Ajax, another member of the football team, said as he caught up to me “You heading to the gym?” “Me? No, I’m going to go turn myself in for grand larceny. I accidentally stole a pencil sharpener from the main office, and I’m too lazy to return it,”
Mason"I thought you said to just steer clear of the Gordon Twins," I said to Ajax as we made our way towards Writer's Workshop."I did, and I stand by that statement, I know Leo because he's also on the football team but that doesn't mean you should," He said before we exited the stairwell towards the ground floor, "The Gordon Twins are nice enough, but it's best to not get involved with them. They're the children of the current Alpha of the Crimson Wolves, one of the most infamous packs in the States, and if you piss them off there's no one on this earth that can save you.""I had both of them in my first class today, and I could've sworn that the sister kept staring at me," I said as we arrived at my class, "I swear I'm not making this up, Ajax.""Then you better pray that she ain't mad at you. She might be more reserved than her brother, but she's just as, if not more, dangerous than him.""Alright, thanks for helpi
Mason "Need a hand there, bud?" Leo said as I sat on the floor probably looking like an idiot and took his hand to help me back up. "Thank you," I said as I got back up to my feet, "Now if you'll excuse me, I'd rather pretend this whole debacle ever went down." "Leaving so soon? We haven't even gotten your name though," The sister said as I tried to walk past them towards my next class, only for Leo to step in the way blocking my exit. "Why would you want to know my name? I'm nobody important and would like to keep it that way," I said as I looked up to meet Leo's gaze, "And I'd genuinely appreciate it if you moved so I could get to my next class." Leo stood there smirking at me as I tried to get past him again to get to my next class, his sister on the other hand tapped his shoulder and he moved to the side so I could head on to class. She looked at me with a look that held a mixture of curiosity
Mason It was becoming more and more apparent that I wouldn't be able to avoid the Twins as easily as I thought, if they weren't pestering me in the classes we shared, they were blocking my path to my next class in hopes of talking to me for whatever reason they had. I took a seat in the back again on the other side of where the Twins were sitting to avoid having to talk to them, and put one of my earbuds in while we waited for the teacher to start class. While waiting, I took my notebook and pen out to continue writing the short story I had started earlier on during the day. I usually wrote whenever I was bored, and any stories that I was proud of and thought others would enjoy I would upload to a website that specialized in short stories and poems. While I continued writing, the teacher walked in and started doing introductions but in the best way that I had seen all day."I'm sure you've all heard more t
JocelynAfter hearing what Mason had said towards the end of our last class of the day, I was torn between wanting to sucker punch my brother and talking to Mason more. Unfortunately, the latter option wasn't available for long as while I was giving my brother the death stare, Mason walked out of class. I contemplated my remaining options before coming to a rational conclusion as to what I should do next; My brother didn't like my choice as we left the class ourselves he went from laughing his ass off to scowling at me for punching him. "You couldn't have punched him? He was the one who made the joke, not me," He said as we made our way down the hall towards the back parking lot. "I could've, but didn't want to; That and I've been holding that punch back since Biology class, you handled it well though," I said before opening the door towards the lot and heading towards my car."Just because I can handle it doesn
Jocelyn "I'm sorry, but WHAT?!" "I know you heard me, Jocelyn," My dad said as my brother made his back downstairs after hearing me yell. "Part of me doesn't even want to know what you must've said to make her yell, Dad," Leo said before taking a bowl of pasta and sitting down. "Your sister was talking to me about this boy at your school, and I told her that twins can have the same mate." Leo's face had the same expression that mine had, we had been told all our lives that every wolf had their respective mate. Now our father was telling us that it was possible that not only could Mason be my mate, but Leo's too. The look of confusion and shock on my brother's face would've been almost comical if it wasn't for our current situation. It would make sense that Leo got the same vibe from Mason if he was mated to both of us, but that didn't make any sense. "How is it possible for him to be mated to bo
Leo Judging by my sister's expression, I had brought up something that she either didn't consider a possibility or something she didn't want to talk about. I couldn't blame her, she had despised Astrid for a long time and I honestly believed Astrid was why Jocelyn never really had a childhood. After Astrid confessed that she had feelings for us, and thought that she was our mate, we tried to let her off as kindly as possible but she wouldn't let up. Eventually, it reached a point where Jocelyn snapped at her and we hadn't spoken to her since, I didn't want to and I'm pretty sure Jocelyn would sooner hit her with a phone book. "To be frank, Leo, I hadn't thought about her," She said as she spun in her chair, "I try not to think about her, even if I now have to share a class with her." "This is strictly hypothetical, please don't take this out of context, but, if Mason is our mate and Astrid catc
Jocelyn The last thing I was expecting, going into my third-period class, was to get a panicked text from my brother. Even less than that was for me to read the names, Astrid and Mason, in that exact text, making me walk into my next class with one of the fakest smiles I've ever worn. The third period usually was the class that went by the quickest, and held my attention the best, however, with the text from my brother my mind was wandering. Before the class started, I opened my phone to re-read the text and respond to my brother so he knew I had read what he said. 'I've got good news and bad news for you sis, good news is I told Mason our theory on who he is to us...The bad news is that on my way to Gym, Astrid caught up with me and asked about him.' 'This wasn't the best thing to hear going into an English class, we'll talk during lunch, wish me luck at not having a mental breakdown.' 'Good luck, Sis,
Leo I still have no idea if there's a word to describe the amount of regret I felt when I saw Mason's face shift. What started with him looking like he was curious about my answer shifted to him looking terrified and even more confused than before. I immediately wished I hadn't told him anything and left the talking to Jocelyn, she was a bit better with words than I was. He looked like he was questioning his entire reality before he opened his mouth again. "What do you mean 'You didn't even know would be a possibility? And explain more, please," He said with a mild stammer. "We didn't know it was possible for two wolves to share or have the same mate, we were told our entire lives that it was a one-to-one type deal. As far as the explanation, I can only wish you good luck in getting one, we still don't know if Jocelyn's hunch is true or not." "So it's just a hunch? You'd think that you'd know if I was that important to you two." "You'd think, but we have no clue, ev
Mason "She did what now?!" "I'm going to take that as a no," Leo said through a low chuckle to avoid ticking off the teacher, "She told me that it was okay, even though I don't entirely have a reason to have it." "I didn't understand why she even wanted it in the first place, I said it before and I'll say it again, I'm a nobody from nowhere and I'd like to keep it that way." "Look, I'm sorry to say this but good luck with that, you've got my sister's attention and some of mine, somehow, and that isn't something easily given away." "And here I thought I'd have a normal school year," I groaned aloud before returning to my writing. Even if I spent a good chunk of my classes writing stories or doodling in my notebook, I managed to pass all my previous schools with mostly Bs and Cs. My father never cared about my grades, so long as I was in school and not bothering him he didn't seem to care, whereas my M
Mason I woke up the next day early enough in the morning that the sun hadn't started rising, and went downstairs to grab some breakfast. Mom was getting her lunch set up as I got there, she hugged me and wished me good luck at school before leaving for work, and I grabbed a couple of granola bars before walking out to the bus stop. I had my earbuds in listening to music while waiting for the bus when my phone buzzed, taking it out of my pocket the notification was a text from Jocelyn.'We'll see you at class, Leo says hi.''Tell the hulking sheepdog I said hello.''I showed him your calling him a hulking sheepdog and I couldn't describe the look of confusion on his face even if I wanted to.' I put my phone away as the bus pulled up to the bus stop and got on before taking a seat in the back. Mason After talking to Jocelyn and giving her my phone number, I caught back up with my mom as she gathered food for the week. We were getting stuff to make chimichangas and guacamole, snack foods, and some sodas before heading to the front to check out. Mom kept asking me questions about how school went and what I thought of the school as we checked out. We got out to the car and I loaded the groceries in the back before sitting down in the passenger seat when my mom gave me a look. "So, are you going to tell me who that girl was that you were talking to? Or is this going to be one of those things that we silently acknowledge?" "I should've known you would've seen her," I said through a nervous chuckle at her comment, "I don't even know how to explain it, Ma. I was told by a friend that I met on the bus that I should try and avoid them altogether, they own the school or something." "They must b
Leo "Would you believe me if I told you I had no idea?" "Considering that she was just standing beside you?" Dad said with an eyebrow raised, "No, no I would not. Where'd she run off to?" "Up that aisle to go talk to someone," I said while pointing up the aisle that Jocelyn ran up, "Though I couldn't advise going up there, you might embarrass her and all that jazz." "Goddess knows I would be just heartbroken if I embarrassed my daughter," He said as we continued shopping, "Do you know who she's talking to?" "It's the guy she was talking about from our school." "If she went to go talk to him, why didn't you join her? Does he make you shy or something?" I looked at my dad in disbelief that he thought that was a possibility, and resisted the urge to roll my eyes. We continued through the store, picking up some snacks and food for dinner the next few days; Before long, Jocelyn caught back up with us carr
