CHAPTER 44

I opened my eyes, startled by the cries that were coming from next to me. Why was there someone crying in my room? I was so shocked to hear the sound of crying that I quickly jumped from the bed. My feet hurt as I tried to stand and there was a dull throb by my side. Staring down at the pink crying baby, the memories came flooding in. I quickly rushed over, picking him up and cradling him in my arms. He cried louder and I rocked him.

“Shh…it's okay baby” I tried to console but his cries grew louder. It was so sad to see that such a beautiful innocent baby had been abandoned to suffer or die. Just like myself. I was instantly drawn to him the moment I saw him. A connection had formed like he was my own. I wanted him to have a good life. Something I didn't have. I didn't think about how it would work, I just wanted to save him at that moment.

The king had jumped to change my living situation. I was no longer at the servant's quarters which wasn't even a suitable environment for a baby
