Alaric giggled as I tickled his side. He was such a happy baby. He hardly ever cried and always had a smile on his face. Eleanor was very excited to see him each day and I was starting to think she liked him more than I did. After going through the side list of names in the book Hermes brought over, I settled on Alaric. It meant powerful. And it perfectly suited him, somehow, I believed he would become an image of his name. Eleanor liked the name too. She liked everything that had to do with Alaric. He grabbed a fistful of my hair, taking it into his mouth but I quickly stopped him, his green eyes sparkling with mischief. He tried again but I stopped him, balancing him on my legs and quickly tying my hair to the back where he couldn't reach it. With the hair out of the way, he found something else to try to stuff into his mouth. With each day that passed, I felt so much better and happier. Alaric was like a ray of light that came into my life, brightening up the darkness that had fil
As I put Alaric in his clothes for the day, my thoughts drifted. I couldn't stop thinking about King Tyron and his sudden change. I know it gives me a headache and I try to stop thinking about him but it was impossible. I was very curious as to why he always came in the night while I was asleep and never said anything. It was very strange. I kissed Alaric's tummy and he giggled, grabbing my hair with his fingers and aiming for his mouth, I quickly pulled it away and he giggled harder. I smiled down at him, his green eyes so bright. I didn't think it was possible to love someone this much but staring at Alaric...I believed it. The cot wasn't a bad idea as I thought initially. It was a good idea. I didn't have to worry about tossing and turning while on the bed. I slept well and Alaric didn't seem to mind where he slept. We could stay together on the bed during the day and at night, he would sleep in his cot. I cradled him and moved to the window, staring at the busy castle. I've been
KING TYRON's POV"There's something about you" Hermes started and I gave him a look. He had been talking way too much for my liking. He never knew went to shut up."Mind your business" I snapped angrily. I was not expecting him to listen but at the same time, I hoped he would have the sense to because I wasn't in the mood for his shit right now. "Seriously, I don't know what it is but I know it cannot be anything good. Have you seen Nevaeh today? And Alaric. He is a ball of sunshine, Nevaeh smiles so much when she's with him. This is the happiest I've seen her since I've ever known her" I scowled at his words because it made me jealous to no end. How could it be...that a child she had just found made her the happiest she had ever been? The more I thought about his words, the angrier I became.'What did you ever do to make her happy?' My wolf asked, souring my mood further. "My lord...""Enough Hermes. It seems like you are very free and without any tasks to notice all these damned t
Days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months. Soon, it was two months already since Alaric had been with us. From the estimate, he would be around six months. Each moment I had spent with him made me happy. I couldn't think of a life without him anymore. The fear of him being taken away from me was slowly disappearing in my own belief, nobody would be looking for him. No complaints had been made in the last two months so I didn't expect one now. Alaric had learned to crawl and he didn't hesitate to crawl into any corner and out of any open door. I was scared when he started walking, he would be entering into any place at all his feet carried him. Overall, he was a happy child and everyone was happy to have him around, including the king. Once when Alaric wandered out of the open door, he found him and brought him back. He didn't look displeased and Alaric looked comfortable in his arms. It was a sight to see. I'd never actually seen them but I have reason to believe that King
I was still thinking about what I could do to show the king appreciation. I've said thank you numerous times but somehow, it didn't feel enough. “I don't know what to do” I grumbled to my wolf. “Me neither. Don't stress about it. He probably doesn't care” but I did.“Nevaeh” I was snapped out of my thoughts when Innobel called my name. She was poking her head into the room, smiling at me. “Why are you there? Come in” she continued smiling brightly as she entered and I suspected she wasn't so excited because we were going outside. “What has you smiling so happily” she shrugged. “A lot of things. I'm just so happy” I nodded. That was good. It was better than being grumpy and sad all day. “Are you ready to go outside?” She asked and I nodded. Alaric had crawled over to the bathroom door and was trying to pry it open with his hand. I picked him up and kissed his chubby cheeks and all his attention was now on me. Today, I wanted to walk around with him. Eleanor and Victoria would not
KING TYRON’S POVI stopped once I was sure I was out of her view and ran my finger through my hair. That awkward conversation wasn’t supposed to happen. Usually, I had everything planned out and it was so much better in my head but whenever I was in front of her, everything just went the opposite of what I planned. ‘That’s why I should be in control’ my wolf grumbled annoyed. He was excited to be in her presence and speak to get for longer so he was upset when that didn’t happen. I tugged at the roots of my hair. “What’s happening to me?” I was confident…..why did I turn silent when I was with her? I couldn’t even understand what change had come over me. It was sudden….overnight with no warning. What’s crazy is that it wasn’t the first time I was around her. But from the moment I admitted the truth to myself, stopped denying that she was my mate and I made up my mind to chase her. I completely changed when it came to her. I was going nowhere in my plans to eventually make up her m
I opened my eyes slowly, regaining consciousness. There was only but a dull throb in my head. I remembered clearly what happened and how I ended up unconscious. My limbs didn't feel stiff and it didn't seem like I was tied up which was good for me. I looked to my left and saw a familiar bedside table. I sat up in bed and then I saw him. King Tyron was pacing in his bedroom. How did I end up here? Did he find me when the intruder was assaulting me? The last thing I remember was the birth mark and then darkness followed until now.He stopped pacing and turned to me. Our eyes clashed, the hair on my body rising as I felt the intensity of his gaze. He took fast powerful strides towards me and then I was roughly pulled into his arms, the two large warm trunks cradling me.I was surprised by the events but it didn't stop my heart and stomach from fluttering. The hug went on for a while, King Tyron didn't let me go and I was beginning to doubt he was going to let me go so I just stayed in t
Martha was confined to her room while the investigation continued and it made me upset because I knew she was the one. She went as far as tearing off that birthmark on her leg. ‘She would only do that if she knew you saw the mark’ my wolf said and I snorted. What’s to say she didn’t know that? Each time it looked like? I was making a lead way and Martha would be exposed for her crimes, she found a way to completely turn the situation in her favor and made herself look innocent. I couldn’t push with the mark as a piece of evidence because she didn’t have it anymore. And after my inspection, King Tyron said it was from an accident a long time ago. I scoffed at that. I refused to believe he wasn’t protecting her because that’s exactly what it seemed like to me. Jumping at her defense. “Don’t be angry” I said to myself. Once my emotions started to get out of control. “Ma….” Alanc blubbered reaching upwards for me and I picked him up, at the same time the door opened and King Tyron ent
