Chapter 4

She looked at me in worried" what about you? I hope the Alpha didn't punish you again?"

I was sure she was going to be happy when she finds out that we are going to the North together. This time around I'll be free from her shenanigans.

" Not at all Ashley"

She looks at me in disbelief " So you don't want to tell me anything again? I thought we share secrets"

"It's nothing Ashley. The only thing I was told when I got to his office was, I'll be going with you guys" 

She looks confused at first " How? How comes he changed his mind "

I shrugged " Who cares. Anyways, isn't that what you wanted"

" Yes but....." She paused when she realized what she said: " Why are you making it sound as if I was jealous?"

" Please don't start with this drama of yours,  I was only saying "

She rolled her eyes.

" Welcome to the pack but I must say, you lack no respect for my kingdom at all. Y'all didn't have to trespass, all you should have done is to ask for orders before entering " Alpha Ronald spoke.

Ashley finally dropped it and we turned our attention to the chaos.

" Greetings to you Alpha"A burly man with an aura that shouted danger said.

" Greetings, You still haven't answered me "

raised a brow " Well then, I am Brian, the beta of the North pack. I see no reason why I should ask for permission when you are already aware that we'd be here."

The man was cocky and that shows how he has no respect for Alphas below his Alpha who is the King of Alpha. This isn't looking right at all. Alpha Ronald can be seen hungry to slice down King Beta's throat.

" This is going to turn bloody if care isn't taken" Ashely whispered beside me and I nodded in agreement " it is"

" Ok then you can take them away but I believe you are aware that they will be back in two months?"

The man clasped his hand " Unfortunately."

" Good then, you all can be on your way then" Alpha Ronald commanded.

Ashley held my hand scared at how the guards from the north were looking at us as if they want to strangle our little neck. Many of us were in tears but I held zero sentiments because I need to do as I was told to save my family.

My plan of running away had come to a halt and I know if I dare to make a sprint, Alpha Ronald won't take it likely with me and that will be the end of my family. I can't take it if he hurts any of them. My heart aches in pain, I wonder when this misery will end. I'm tired of it all. I wish I can find my mate who will then protect me from all my dilemmas. 

" We are dead Melissa. This person held zero emotion" Ashley whispered into my head. 

My hands were already sweaty from the amount of force she used to hold them. I feel her pain right now but I have a grave task to do in that dangerous place. I fear for myself, I fear for what will happen to me if I get caught. I fear for my family.

" Breath Ashley, breath."

" I'm trying but it's not helping at all. How are we even going to escape? Do you have a plan already?"

I stared at her sad that I will disappoint her this time again " No, I don't have any"

She was shocked " Are you sure everything is alright with you? I've seen your change of mood and attitude the moment you came back from your meeting with Alpha Ronald. I hope he didn't do anything to you? please tell me " 

I forced a smile " Nothin happened, calm down"

Ashley was not convinced enough but she decided to nod " ok then if you say so"

" Get in the Car" They yelled making us scream in fear.

Three hefty cars were parked inside the pack. The first car was crowded with packs members ready to leave. Ashley and I went on to take the second car some other pack members also went with. I made sure I sat on the window seat preventing myself from getting squeezed.

After every car was preoccupied, we began our journey to the North. I glanced towards Alpha Ronald and was surprised to see that he was already looking at me. His eyes were set on me with this look that says if I betray him, he'll put an end to my family. I could break eye contact until the car moved out of the palace.

" What was that about?" 

Ashley brought me out of my dazed look. I furrowed my brow, pretending as if I didn't know what she was talking about" What?"

" That look you and Alpha Ronald shared "

Thank God she was whispering, wouldn't want her to spoil everything.

" What look?" I asked acting dumb.

She glared at me " Why are you doing all this "

" What am I doing "

" Please stop lying and just say the truth. I saw that look and no man in his straight mind wouldn't know that there was something involved" she pressed on.

I know she won't give up" It's nothing Ashley don't work yourself up"

" I need to work myself up if I find some things strange. This is so likely of you Melissa. You were never one to hide secrets so what changed?"

I rolled my eyes tired of her always wanting to know what's going on with my life" ok fine, I'll tell you in due time " 

" Promise?"

" Yes promise" 

" Who are those making noise at the back?"

Ashley and I went mute.

It was already getting dark and we still haven't gotten there. The rumor must be true then. People say the palace is at the out sketch of the North. Somewhere far away from the West.

I was beginning to grow tasty but who was going to hear us? The guards didn't even care. They wined and dined while we watch them. It's so sad that none of them have any iota of feeling in them. 

" I'm tasty" Ashley muttered beside me.

" Don't worry, well be there soon"

" I'm scared Melissa. This whole thing is so unfair. We have all been deprived of our rights" she said sadly.

I can vividly remember the day I got kidnapped and was locked up in a room scared of not having anyone with me. Then suddenly the next day, Ashley got pushed into the room. I remember how happy I was to have someone to talk to. She was my fast friend. I've never asked her how she even got kidnapping and now I want to know.

" Why not tell me how you got kidnapped in the first place?"

Ashley was surprised by my question " I thought you'd never ask"

" Go on, I'm listening "
