“Good morning, sleeping beauty.” Bella’s voice beamed, jolting me awake.

I slowly opened my eyes to see her opening the blinds, and I quickly shut my eyes as the rays of sunshine hit them.

Turning to the other side, I opened my eyes again. I looked around the room, hoping to see Maximus, but he wasn’t in sight, and that left me wondering where he went. I didn’t even think he returned yesterday night. I was awake for a long time, waiting for him to return and thinking about the things he did to me before sleep swept me away.

I wondered why he touched me, arousing me, and then suddenly stormed out of the room afterwards. Did I do something wrong? Or could it be part of his torture scheme?

Bella abruptly yanked the blanket off my body. “Wake up, Miss. It’s time for breakfast.”

“I’m awake.” I sighed as I lazily sat up. “Have you seen him this morning?” I asked Bella.

I didn’t need to mention his name for her to know who I was talking about.

“No, I haven’t.” She replied before turning her gaze in a particular direction. “But he asked that those things be brought to you.”

I trailed her line of sight, and my eyes narrowed when I saw the customised boxes and paper bags sitting on the sofa at one end of the room.

“What are those?” I asked curiously.

“Let’s check them out.” She squealed as she pranced towards the sofa.

Jumping out of bed and approaching her, I watched as she unboxed the items.

The contents included shoes, dresses, night wares, jewellery, and all sorts of things that I had never owned in my entire life. They looked really expensive.

“Why did he get all these things for me?” I voiced out my thoughts.

“Because you are his mate.” Bella affirmed, nudging me excitedly.

She drooled over the gifts, wishing she would one day get to own things like that. But I, on the other hand, wasn’t too happy about them, knowing they might just be compensation for the torture he and Lauren were preparing for me. I hated them.

“I’ll arrange them.” Bella offered, and I didn’t object.

She arranged everything in the space Maximus left for me in the closet, and after that, she took me out to the kitchen to have breakfast.

Thankfully, I woke up late, and all the pack members had already had their breakfasts, so the kitchen was empty.

“What would you like to have?” Bella asked me.

“Sandwich and coffee.” I told her. “What about you? I could make it for both of us.”

“No. I won’t allow you to. It’s my duty. That’s what I was assigned to do.” She quickly protested.

“But I know how to cook and do all that stuff. I used to do it in my old pack.” I pouted.

“Like you said, your old pack. Not here.” She dragged me to one of the stools and forced me to sit on it. “I’ll get into trouble if the Alpha sees you doing any sort of work. I had been instructed to do everything for you.”

I rolled my eyes. “I am not a baby.”

“You are his baby.” She teased and giggled before trudging to the coffee marker to begin preparing breakfast for me.

Only if she knew what I had to endure yesterday.

“Look who’s here.” Lauren’s annoying voice suddenly sounded, and I hoisted my head to see her walking into the kitchen.

I sighed and rolled my eyes. Not again.

“Did you just roll your eyes at me?” She questioned me, her arms akimbo, with a frown slated on her face.

Ignoring her, I focused on Bella, who was preparing sandwiches, while occasionally glancing at me to make sure I was okay.

“Are you deaf?!” Lauren yelled as she marched towards me.

“I don’t want any trouble!” I snapped.

“That’s exactly what I intend to give to you.” Before I knew what was happening, she had already grabbed my hair tightly and pulled my head back with it.

“Lauren!” Bella exclaimed as she rushed towards us.

“What? Do you want your hair to be pulled  too?" She threatened with a raised brow.

“Stop this nonsense!” I yelled, wincing in pain as I tried to free myself in a futile attempt. She was much stronger than me.

“What did you do with Maximus yesterday? Uh?” She asked. “I know he asked me to leave because of you.”

“Nothing!” I lied.

“Unless you tell me the truth.” She pulled my hair harder, and I groaned in pain. “I won’t release you.”

“I said, nothing!” I gritted out.

“Maximus is mine, and mine alone. Don’t you ever think of stealing him away from me just because you are mates. I would—“ She trailed off when we heard two she-wolfs greeting the Alpha just outside the kitchen.

She quickly let go of my hair and, within a split second, dishevelled her own hair. I widened my eyes in perplexity, knowing what she was about to do.

Just then, Alpha King Maximus appeared in the doorway. I glanced at Lauren only to see that her eyes were already wet with crocodile tears. She was a damn actress.

“What happened?” He asked, concerned, as he inched closer to her and placed his hand on her shoulder.

“Starlette.” She pointed an accusatory finger at me, sobbing. “She pulled my hair so hard, now I have a headache.”

“I didn’t do it.” I defended myself.

“You did.” She retorted. “You were jealous about what happened yesterday; you got so angry and attacked me.”

“You have to believe me.” My attention is on Alpha Maximus now. “I didn’t do it. Look at my hair. She did this to me.”

His nose flared, and he began to take intimidating steps towards me. The frown rooted deep in his face scared me, and I recoiled instinctively. My heart began to beat so fast against my ribcage, afraid of what he might do to me.

And when he came to a stop in front of me, his intoxicating scent became stronger and hit my nose harder. Memories of last night came rushing back, and I became aroused out of my own will.

Who gets scared and aroused because of the same person at the same time?

DAISYA dull ache settled in my chest and stomach. A terrible feeling ran through my blood as guilt washed over me for misjudging Lila. I should’ve known when she told me that not everything was as it seemed in Gabriel’s den.I should’ve known when she saw that my wolf had been released but lied to Gabriel that her gift was still lost. From the way her eyes snapped open and she gasped, I knew she had seen it.I should’ve known when she secretly gave us the spell that cured those who had fallen into a deep slumber under Gabriel’s spell.Lila may have been a villain many years ago, but she had done her best to prove to us that villains could change sometimes. And she did. She became a better person and even went as far as sacrificing her life to protect the world from her own father. She may have been so annoying, but I couldn’t deny the fact that I liked her. Her wit, her jokes, her lush red hair. She would be greatly missed.Right now, beneath the full moon above us, we were all gather

DAISY“Did you think this barrier could hold me back, kiddo?” Gabriel lifted his brows, seemingly confident.“You’ll lose that mouth of yours by the time I’m done with you.” I flicked my gaze to Mother. “Please, the handcuffs...”“I’ll get them right away,” she said, not allowing me to finish my sentence. She teleported out of the room and was back in less than three minutes.Taking the cuffs from her, I flung them through the barrier, using my magic to hook them around his wrists. Now he couldn’t perform any magic whatsoever. But Gabriel was smart and powerful, and he could figure out how to break free from them within a few hours.“Mom. What next?” I turned to look at her.She folded her arms and shook her head. “I have no idea. I am still in shock.”“Can you quickly lend me your phone? I need to call Gideon,” I asked my mother. He would already be so worried about me.“Oh, we spoke just a few minutes before you arrived. I was about to go to the West, even,” Mother said as she hande

  • The Alpha King’s Special Mate   125| Next Breath

DAISYGideon had some pack matters to sort out, so I returned to the bedroom. I sat on the bed, racking my brain, trying to interpret the sudden dream and the dark aura I had felt.We all believed Gabriel was dead. Could he have lied about the secret to terminating him forever and only made a fool of us when we gathered those three ingredients and used them to stab him?Frustration consumed me, and I raked my fingers through my hair, tugging at it tightly. I should’ve fucking known he wasn’t stupid enough to lay bare his secrets like that when he knew I could use them against him.If Gabriel was truly alive, we were back to ground zero, and getting rid of him would be even more difficult now.Think, Daisy, think! How can we get him once and for all? He must have gotten a guide on how to clone himself from somewhere, and that would also contain how to put an end to the clones. The ancient werewolf grimoire should contain something like that. Even the grimoire my great-grandmother left

  • The Alpha King’s Special Mate   124| Congratulations.

DAISY“Pregnant?” I repeated.“Yes. I had suspected it, but I wanted to confirm it before telling you. I think I can sense another life growing inside us,” Kira said.An overwhelming sense of joy engulfed me. If we were truly pregnant, then I would be the happiest woman alive today. I needed to go to the hospital and get confirmation. With that, I dragged myself into the bathroom, took a shower, slipped into a floral maxi dress, and headed to the hospital to get confirmation from the doctor. My blood sample was taken, and the necessary tests were carried out while I waited in a private waiting area within the hospital.Several minutes later, the doctor returned with a white envelope, a wide smile spreading across his face.“Congratulations, Luna Queen. The pack’s heir is on the way!” he beamed.“Really?” My eyes widened as I snatched the envelope and pulled the sheet of paper out, reading the result. It said I tested positive for pregnancy. My lips spread into a big smile as I slipped

  • The Alpha King’s Special Mate   123| Blinding and Intense.

DAISYBack in the bedroom, the massive bed had been decorated beautifully. There were petals arranged in the shape of a heart on the bed, gift boxes placed on it, and balloons hanging from the ceiling. Petals and candles were scattered all over the floor.A wide smile spread across my lips.“Oh, shit!” Gideon groaned. “I forgot to ask the maids to light the candles on our way here. I had asked them to hold on.”“It’s fine,” a soft chuckle escaped me. “I can just do it.”My hand stretched forward, and I cast the spell that made fire light up the candles.A sense of satisfaction spread through me, not because I had lit the candles, but because I had done it successfully and effortlessly, without blowing up the entire building. I now had full control of my magic, even when it was at its peak.“Perks of having a witch by my side,” Gideon chuckled, and I winked at him.I ventured further into the room and sat by the bed to unbox my gifts. They were collections of bags, shoes, dresses, jewe

  • The Alpha King’s Special Mate   122 | A Surprise for You

DAISY“Why would Lila help us?” I muttered as I slowly inched closer to my mate, took the note, and glanced at it.Before Gabriel’s death, she had betrayed us and given her loyalty to him. Unless...“Perhaps she never betrayed us after all. Maybe she just wanted to get close enough to him to attack him,” Mother voiced out my thoughts.“But she helped Gabriel torture me while I was in captivity. And she was there when he almost killed Violet. If she hadn’t betrayed us, then why didn’t she stop him? And why isn’t she coming out to explain now that Gabriel is dead, instead of slipping us a note with a spell?” I muttered. Before anyone could respond, I moved toward Violet and crouched beside her. “We can think about that later. Let’s worry about reviving Violet first.”I looked at the spell again to memorize it.“Are you sure it will work? What if the spell contains something that would make her condition worse? We cannot trust Lila.” Axel said.“I agree that we cannot trust Lila, but tha
