VIOLET

My body vibrated with anger, and instead of turning around and leaving like I normally would, I confronted him.

“What did you just say?” I groaned out as I marched forward.

“You heard me right,” he mumbled, averting his gaze.

“Axel!” Daisy exclaimed, clearly disappointed in him.

He stood up and attempted to leave, but I grabbed his arm, forcing him to stop. “Apologize.”

He raised an eyebrow, his expression turning cold. “And what if I don’t?”

“Apologize,” I pressed. I desperately wanted him to take back his words and say that he never meant it. As much as I was angry, it hurt me so much that someone called me that—especially him.

Without another word, he snatched his arm from my grip and marched out of the café.

“Violet...” Daisy called in a low tone, and I turned my attention to her.

“How do you know Axel?” I asked, trying to fathom why she was seated with him and having that sort of conversation.

“I—uhm...” She took in a sharp breath. “I’m sorry, I should

AXEL“Mom, Dad?” I darted my gaze between both of them. “Why are you here?” “You are in trouble,” Mom spat, her tone sharp and disapproving. “I guess so,” I mumbled. “Axel, you’ve been breaking too many rules, and I can’t allow you to continue this way. I had to call your parents,” Alpha Richard said, his piercing gaze fixed on me. I sighed. “What did I do this time?” “When you were admitted into this school, you were thoroughly warned not to use your psychic abilities. You were banned from using them while on the school premises.” He sighed. “But recently, you have broken too many rules using those same psychic abilities, and the school can’t continue to have you here.” “Am I being expelled?” Chills ran through my body at the thought. I used to hate it here, but now I was starting to find reasons to stay. I didn’t want to get expelled. “Because of your parents, no. You’ll only be suspended. But this is your final warning. If you use your powers again, not even your pa

  • The Alpha King’s Special Mate   29| Training Grounds.

AXELFather stood in the middle of the training grounds, surrounded by warriors engaged in rigorous combat practice. “Alpha Prince.” Various voices echoed in unison as warriors bowed in respect when I approached him. The moment I reached him, he threw a sword at me. I caught it instinctively, but before I could process what was happening, he lunged at me with full force. My reflexes kicked in, and I raised my sword just in time to block his attack. “Easy on me, Alpha!” I groaned. “No one will go easy on you when you become the Alpha King!” he growled as he withdrew his sword, only to immediately attack again. I blocked the attack, our swords clanking against each other. “That’s still a very long time away.” In a split second, he was at my back, attempting to attack from behind, but I was swift enough to turn around and bend over, evading the attack. However, I lost my balance in the process, giving him enough time to knock me over and stand in front of me, his sword pointe

AXELFather quickly organized a search team for the missing girl as we all wondered what could have happened. Security in this park was tight, ensuring the protection of all pack members, so what could have gone wrong? The Alpha King allowed me to tag along to the girl’s home, where they said her name was Alice. We got there to meet her heartbroken mother, who wouldn’t stop crying, and her father, who was consoling her. “Alpha!” the mother cried and rushed towards him the moment she sighted Father. “Please help me find her. She is my only child.” “That is why I am here—to help you find her.” His voice was soft as he placed his hand on the woman’s shoulder. “I want to ask a few questions, and you must answer sincerely.” She nodded repeatedly. “I will.” “Okay, please have a seat.” He gestured towards a couch before settling on one himself. “When was the last time you saw Alice?” Father asked her. “Last night. She said she was going to visit a friend and would be back befor

VIOLETAs much as I loathed Axel for the hurtful things he had said about me, I hated that he had been suspended, especially knowing it was because of me. The only reason he had used his powers on the guards to leave school was so he could drive me home. He was caught and punished, while I, the one who should have been the main culprit, hadn’t even been discovered. I was on my bed, sad all day. Despite Daisy’s attempts to talk to me, I wasn’t giving her an audience. I hadn’t spoken to her since I found out that she was Axel’s cousin and had hidden it from me all along. “Violet,” she called, attempting once again to get me to talk. I didn’t even spare her a glance. “You know we can’t keep being like this forever,” she muttered. Again, I ignored her. “You are making me feel very sad and guilty,” she breathed. “That was exactly how I felt when I found out that you had been deceiving me all this while,” I spat. “I know. Until when are you going to punish me?” she asked.

  • The Alpha King’s Special Mate   32| Flowers.

AXELOutside the southern borders stood only a few of the northern soldiers—the Silver Crest soldiers, to be precise. The southern soldiers stood guard at their borders, ready to protect their kingdom. Our numbers were no match for theirs. But we weren’t there for war. We were stopped from going into the south, and Father commanded the soldiers not to resist. He then requested to see the southern Alpha King—Silas. We waited nearly two hours before Alpha Silas finally appeared, a heavy crown resting on his head. I couldn’t help but wonder if it wasn’t too burdensome for him. My father almost never wore his own crown because of how heavy it was. “Has the northern king finally come to submit himself to me?” Silas asked, standing in the midst of his warriors. “You wish!” the northern king spat. “Then have you come for your death? It’s long overdue,” Silas sneered. “My reason for being here is simple. A girl in my pack went missing, and she was spotted here. Once we have her, we’

VIOLETWhen I heard about the tensions between the north and the south, fear gripped me. But it turned out that the north had gone to the south in search of a missing girl but peacefully left when they weren’t granted access to the kingdom. Anyway, Axel’s two-week suspension ended yesterday, and he was to return today. For some reason, I was nervous about his resumption. As much as I was still upset with him over what he had said about me, I couldn’t shake the guilt of knowing he had been suspended because of me while I had gone unpunished. “Onyx,” I called on my wolf. “How do we apologize to Axel?” “Get him flowers,” she responded. I laughed at her ridiculous response. “Please be serious.” “I am serious. Get him flowers,” she said again, and this time, I could tell she wasn’t joking. “No way!” I exclaimed. “He would get the wrong idea.” “Do you want to apologize or not?” she countered. “I want to,” I admitted quietly. “Then get him flowers,” she said before retreati

  • The Alpha King’s Special Mate   34| Sunset.

VIOLETIt was funny how I was about to go on a date with the prince of a kingdom that had nearly gone to war with mine. I knew I should have pushed him away, but deep down, I didn’t want to. I wanted him. I wanted this. Daisy wouldn’t stop teasing me the moment I told her about the date. Choosing what to wear was an extreme sport. My wardrobe was full of clothes, yet nothing seemed right. The entire room was a disaster, littered with the multitude of outfits I had tried on and discarded. “It’s almost time, Violet. You need to pick something already,” Daisy said, exasperated. She had spent the last hour helping me select an outfit, only for me to reject every single one. It was clear she was growing tired of my indecisiveness. “I don’t know what to wear!” I groaned, burying my face in my hands. “Well then, should I tell Axel to get a dress for his mate?” she teased, smirking as she prepared to mind-link him. “Snap out of it. No!” I shouted. Daisy laughed but dropped the i

AXELI couldn’t believe we were actually doing this. When I was resuming school today, the last thing I expected was to have my first shift—and with my mate, no less. “Okay. Let’s do this,” I said nervously, rubbing my palms together. She swallowed. “Uhm… can I ask you a question first?” “Yes?” “The girl I’ve been seeing you with—who is she to you?” “What girl?” I asked, my eyes narrowing. “Indie?” I guessed, since she was the only girl I ever hung out with. “Yes, I guess that’s her name.” I couldn’t help but burst out laughing. Who did she think Indie was to me? She frowned. “What’s funny?” “Indie is my adoptive sister. We grew up together,” I told her, still chuckling. “But I thought… you made it seem like…” “There’s nothing like that between us,” I interrupted. “So, shall we?” She nodded. Just as I grabbed the hem of my shirt to pull it off, my phone started ringing. I was going to ignore it when Violet said, “You should pick it up. It might be important.”

AXELMy eyes sparked with amazement, mesmerized by the beauty of the town as we strode through it. Every pathway was adorned with flowers of beautiful colours. I even sighted a group of children practicing their magic by trying to revive a withering flower. Finally, one of them did it and they all jumped up in excitement with echoes of their giggles spreading around the area. It was beautiful and heart-warming.This place was so different from all the werewolf kingdoms I had been to.At the centre of the town, was a giant castle which I believed the clan elder resided in. “Is that where the clan elder live?” I decided to ask Aunt Amelia.“Yes, that’s where I live too.” She glanced at me and winked. “You know, since I am the princess.”“Can I see inside?” I asked.“Let’s show you the surrounding first before—““I am really curious to see what it looks like. AXELAfter I left Violet, I went in search of my Dad, knowing they’d be looking for me since the meeting was over. I found him and the others—uncle Lucius, Kade and Tom, in the hallway leading to the hall where the meeting was held. Their voices were hushed while discussing something I presumed they didn’t want anyone else to hear, but when my Dad saw me, he paused, casting a disapproving look my way. “Where have you been?” He groaned. “I brought you here for a reason.”“I am sorry, I had to go and ease myself and I got lost.” I let the lie slip off my tongue. The look on his face showed that he didn’t believe me, but he decided to let it go anyway. “The meeting is done. We are heading back now.” I nodded. “Okay.”On our way to the car, I moved closer to Uncle Lucius, lowering my voice as I asked curiously. “What’s the conclusion on Lila?” “If you wanted to know, you should’ve stayed for the meeting, but...” He leaned closer and reduced his voice to a level only I could hear.

VIOLETI didn’t know how, but I sensed his presence the moment he got to this pack and I had been waiting for him ever since. I was so happy and relieved that Axel was here, even though I still held a bit of resentment due to his betrayal.“You don’t look good.” Axel said, worries flooding his face as he sat on my bed and held my hand in his. “What is wrong?”“My Dad said a witch had hexed me.” I told him.“What? Why?” He asked, confusion saturating his features. That, I didn’t know either as my dad had refused to give me the full details. He always hid things from me, even though it concerned my health.I shook my head. “I don’t know either. But he mentioned that it was the Witches’ clan leader’s doing.”“Kaelin?” He said, confusion evident in his face. “Why would he hex you?”“I don’t know either.” I sighed. “I guess my dad got on his wrong side.”“And he wouldn’t say what it is that is between them. Or what condition Kaelin was giving to ensure your release.” Axel said, more of a

  • The Alpha King’s Special Mate   68| The Summit.

AXELI hadn’t been able to get Violet off my mind since she lost consciousness. Orion even wouldn’t stop howling in pain, desperate to see his mate. When her parents were informed, they arrived within a few hours and didn’t hesitate to transfer her to the hospital in the south. Now, I was in the dark about her health status and nothing could be more frustrating than that. I couldn’t be more glad that my dad had invited me to tag along for the Alpha King’s summit that was to take place in the south. That was my opportunity to check up on my mate.As planned, I was picked up from school and joined them as we travelled to the south. Uncle Lucius, kade and Tom were also with us. We arrived at the south and we were led to a grand hall where other Alpha Kings with their Betas and Gammas also joined us. “I welcome you all and thank you for honouring this invitation.” Silas said, darting his gaze between everyone in the room. “What I have called you here for is really important.” “It

Using all the strength I could gather, I pushed her away and made for the door. But before I could reach it, she cast a spell and used magic to hold me in place.I had almost forgotten that she was a witch.“Daisy, let me go now! I need my mate,” I growled, struggling to break free. “Don’t let me hate you.”“No, I think you will thank me when you are back to being yourself,” she replied, shaking her head.“Daisy, please,” I cried, frustrated.“Let’s help you get better,” she said as she approached me and undid the spell.I tried to run away once I was free, but she held my hand, looking me straight in the eyes. “Violet, look at me. You know I care deeply about you. And I will not lie to you. Trust me on this one. You don’t want to go after Axel.”“But I need him, Daisy. AXELViolet in heat was wild and hot as fuck. She became a hundred times more attractive, and I could barely hold myself back. But taking her in this vulnerable state would be me taking advantage of her, and I didn’t want that. If we were going to make love, I wanted her to be in her right senses. I wanted her to want me when she could think straight. But now wasn’t the time.“Daisy.” I reached out through the mind link.“Yes?” she responded immediately.“Can you come back, please? And grab some ice packs on your way. Violet needs you,” I told her.“Why? What is wrong with her?” she asked, worry evident in her tone.“She’s in heat,” I said.“It’s great that you are with her then. You are the only one that can make her feel better since you are mates,” she responded teasingly.“We haven’t done that yet. And I don’t want our first to be when she’s in heat. She was mad at me before she went into heat, so I know she would regret it if anything happens now,” I explained to her.“Okay.” She

I heard you have a beautiful white wolf.”Of course, the bodyguards reported back to him.Axel’s jaw tightened, his knuckles turning white at my dad’s words.“Dad.” I cleared my throat, cutting straight to the chase. I didn’t want to waste any more time engaging in conversations like that with him. “I want to ask you something, and I want you to be honest with me.”“What?” he asked immediately.“Are you working with Lila?” I shot the question at him.He went quiet for a moment, then sucked in a breath. “Why do you say so?” he finally asked.“Please just answer my question. Are you working with Lila?” I pressed.“Violet, dear. This is not something you should concern yourself with. Just focus on your studies, okay?” he said.He wasn’t denying it, and my chest

You are not thinking straight.”“I know exactly what I am doing,” I retorted, desperation thick in my voice. “I want you, Axel. Please don’t deny me of you. I am all yours. Take me now.”Without hesitation, I cupped his face in my hands and leaned in to kiss him, but he promptly jerked away from me. Tears welled up in my eyes, my heart breaking at the realization that my mate didn’t want me.“Violet...” he sighed.“You don’t want me. You hate me.” Tears poured down my face.“Wait—what?
