STARLETTE

“How did you know about all these?” Maximus asked, narrowing his eyes.

“I read a lot. I read it in a book a long time ago.” I told him.

He folded his arms across his chest. “What book? Tell me more.”

“I can’t recall the exact book. And I’m afraid that’s all I know.”

“I’m also afraid you’ll have to think hard to remember where you read that from. We need more information.” That sounded more like a threat than a request.

“I didn’t pay much attention while reading it. It was a very old book. A witch grimore.” I answered truthfully.

The frown on his face deepened. “You really can’t remember anything else? How do I get to the witch? Where are the so-called invisibles located?”

I shook my head. “It wasn’t stated in the book.”

“No hint at all?”

“I think we already have the information we need. Hopefully, if the salt trick works, we’d be able to capture and question them directly.” Tom chimed in.

The Alpha King sighed. “I wonder if the witches are trying to start a war or if o

DAISY“Now, you are mine, and I am not letting you go!” he groaned as he grabbed me by my hair and started pulling me with him.I used my elbow to angrily punch him in the abdomen, causing him to release his grip on my hair.He gnashed his teeth. “You dare...”“Did you think this could restrain me?” I laughed ridiculously.“If it couldn’t restrain you, you would’ve teleported. I own you now, Daisy. Do not fight it,” he said with pride. “I would hide you somewhere no one would ever be able to find you.”“You wish!” I groaned, and without further hesitation, I cast a spell that sent the cuffs breaking into pieces.Shreds of metal fell to the floor, making a clanking sound.“So, what now?” I raised my brow.I didn’t even wait for his unneeded response before teleporting back to the witches’ lands.“Daisy!” my mom slammed her palm on her forehead and sighed. “We were really worried about you. Where did you go?”I flashed Malia’s brush at them. “To get this. This is Malia’s brush. Since Ga

DAISYIf older women were exempted from pack works, it meant...Damn. The woman was planted there purposely to give me whatever was inside that coffee. That explained the weird questions she asked me.“What’s her name?” Gideon asked.I shook my head. “I asked, but she never told me.”“When did this happen?” he asked, and I told him.“Excuse me.” He pulled out his phone and gave us a little distance. He came back after a while with a disappointed look on his face.“I asked Ethan to check the CCTV footages, and it had been cleared.” His jaw contracted as he continued, “The pack’s security needs to be tightened. How the hell could a stranger walk freely into my pack, serve you poison, and even delete the footages?”He was visibly angry at himself. He blamed himself for what happened.“Gideon,” I inched closer to him and gently placed my hand on his shoulder, “it is not your fault. These people already had this all planned out. Even if I weren’t in your pack, they would’ve found a way to

DAISYI nodded slowly, knowing I couldn’t lie to her even if I wanted to.She inhaled deeply, steadying herself, then turned to look at Gideon, “you can come in. But your men cannot follow us.” “I am aware of that,” Gideon replied.“Good,” she said then extended her hands for me and him to take. After taking it, she casted the teleportation spell and took us to the incineration grounds.Witches were gathered in solemn silence around the funeral pyre, their faces drawn with grief. Some clutched each other, while others stood rigid, staring at the lifeless body laid before us.Grandpa was truly a great leader, loved by everyone. It was so sad to see him leave this way. I still didn’t know the course of his death.Tears welled up in my eyes and rushed down my cheeks as I stared at his lifeless body. How fleeting life was. If I had known that the last time I saw him would truly be the last, I would have hugged him tighter. Mom and I stepped forward together, hands clutched tightly. We p

DAISY“Condolence?” I quickly asked in shock. “Who died?”My heart began to beat really fast as different possibilities ran through my head. No. Please. I didn’t want anyone I cared about dead.“Oh,” he swallowed hard, “I thought you already heard. That’s why you are crying.”“Who died?” I demanded. He held my hands soothingly and looked into my eyes as he told me, “Your mom called me just now and asked me to inform you that your grandfather passed in the early hours of today.”My insides twisted violently as I stared at him blankly. It took a moment for me to process the information. “My... my... my... grandfather? The witches’ clan leader?” I stammered. He nodded. “I am so sorry, baby. And I’ll be here with you through it all.”I didn’t just lose my grandfather. I lost a leader. The tears running down my face sprang down with full force.Sad emotions overwhelmed me, and I found my hands trembling really badly. We were never really close, but he was still my blood, and the loss was g

DAISYThe terrifying dream I had about Gideon suddenly hit me like a flash. It felt so real that everywhere became dizzy at once. I couldn’t lose Gideon. This definitely wasn’t just a dream. It was a warning. I had to prevent it by all means.Gideon quickly caught me in his arm, looking at me with concern.“Are you okay?” he asked.I nodded. “Yes.”Though my response didn’t reach my eyes. He knew something was wrong.Instead of continuing to ask before everyone else, he carried me in his arms and took me to his room. Our room. After sitting, he sat right beside me. He held my hand and looked straight into my eyes. “Love, you know I care about you more than everyone else in this world. Your worries are my worries. And I really want you to tell me whatever it is that is wrong. I want to help you.”“The dream I had,” I told him truthfully, “it’s been coming back as flashes. I didn’t even have to close my eyes to see it. It’s definitely a warning.”“Gideon,” I looked at him with fear in m

MALIAIn this small cell inside the dungeon, rage, pain, and every negative emotion consumed my entire being. I hated everyone. All I wanted was a better life for myself. Had I been wrong for wanting that? But here I was, condemned in this dark, lonely dungeon, losing my damn mind.I couldn’t stop screaming in frustration, tugging my hair with my fingers like a maniac, demanding to be let out. But I knew that no matter how I screamed, the story would still be the same.It was either they allowed me to rot here, or worse, condemn me to death.Either way, I was fucked. And all this was because of that stupid bitch, Daisy. If she hadn’t come into the picture, I would’ve gotten rid of Lilith without anyone noticing, and I would’ve assumed my position as the Luna. Like I rightfully deserve. After one of my screaming sessions, I eventually fell asleep with a banging headache as a result. Suddenly, I felt a light tap on my shoulder and I jolted awake.I squinted my eyes when I saw an older m
