Alex pushed through his lethargy, and with each step he took to the room door, he kept on thinking if he’d been doing the right thing, heading out in the woods. It wasn’t because he was afraid of being ganged up and beaten by the other big bad wolves who envied the amount of power he had, on the contrary, he was only scared of dying, with his body left for the vultures to feed on.
The thought was beyond horrifying, and Alex had to remind himself that he was powerful, an alpha male. Although he’d been born under the Solar tribe, who were written off as nothing more than slaves, Alexander knew his story was just beginning. Once, Alex tried the lock on the door, and he was a bit surprised when it didn’t budge, as if he had expected it to. Well, he was going to have to break the lock then. He stepped back a little, feeling starved off air, and slammed the door with his closed fist. The door gave way, nothing but a small mass of wood now that he looked at it. Why was he here? And who’d locked him up in the first place?
Alexander found out all the answers when he stepped through the front screen door. There on the wraparound porch was a small picnic basket, which contained some food, and a brown envelope underneath. Alex ate the food, devouring it like he hadn’t eaten in months, and as he stuffed his face full, he stared at the large expanse of trees, which disappeared into the far river. The place looked like a rat maze. But the icy wind shook the tree leaves, and peltered the low grass. It finally dawned on Alex that whoever had brought him here had meant for him to find something–something that was contained in the brown envelope. He wiped food crumbs from the corner of his mouth, and tore open the envelope. But, only a small note fell out. Don’t bother. You won’t find anything. Go home to your tribe.
Go home to your tribe? Alex nearly laughed at that. Where was home when his memory disappeared after twenty four hours? Where was home when he could literally wake up one day, in the middle of nowhere? Where was home when he couldn’t even remember? Alex had come all the way to find out everything, and someone was telling him to go to his tribe? No, he wasn’t going to. And Alexander balled the note up in his fingers, and threw it away.
Alex spread out the map he’d gotten from the cabin on the blanketed snow, and tried to make out where he was exactly. He was surrounded by more and more trees in the forest, and to his left was a big stream, with different sizes of rocks and stones, which kept the tide afloat. Circling his location on the map, Alex began tracing the path that led to, and away. As he traced, he kept circling, and soon the map was full of markings. Still, he couldn’t make out anything concrete. Alex decided to go for a quick swim to clear his head, and he played around in the water, thinking back to the time he’d been with his gun. When he’d gotten up from that bed, the gun wasn’t by his side, and Alex had tried not to freak out.
Someone had taken it, and whoever the person was had to be the same person that was telling him not to bother, that he wouldn’t find anything. What was the need in continuing? But Alex really wanted to get rid of his forgetful memory. Was that too much to ask? Getting out of the cold stream, Alex was supposed to feel cold, but he didn’t because his werewolf abilities had warmed the water up some. He hurriedly wore his clothes, bumping the map in his coat pocket. And so, Alexander Firadus continued to sojourn in a land he knew not.
Throughout the time he crossed through high mountains, and sloppy valleys, he survived on barely much food, apart from the few berries he plucked from trees, and water from clear streams. But, he needed answers, and to him, that was a small price he needed to pay. Weeks slowly rolled by, with Firadus having no idea of time, and he soon began to survive on the meat he could hustle from changing into his wolf at night. He was always on guard in case of attacks too. But there was this day, Firadus had let his guard down. And he awoke to two silver gray wolves, trying to rip his body apart. His senses went on instant alert, and he immediately changed to his wolf form, and hunkered down in front of them.
The wolves charged at him with their angry teeth, and fierce green eyes. Alex Firadus tried to dodge their bites as best as he could, keeping one pissed woof at bay, while he dealt with the other. He had no idea where they were from, but he figured someone had sent them. Or news of his disappearance had reached their ears. Alex hadn’t told anyone he was going to travel, and worse still, for that lengthy period of time. If these wolves should kill him now, nobody would care. His people saw him as a slave, and maybe that was all he was ever going to be—a slave, who was both feared, and respected for the power he had.
Alex pinned one wolf with his sharp claws, and threw the other wolf off his back. The wolf hit the sack, but was back again, scratching and scraping with his paws. Enraged, Alexander bit hard on the neck, and wounded, it cried out for his own tribe to hear. The other wolf lay in the pool of its own blood. Seeing that more wolves would be swarming the area any minute now, Alex decided to take off. It would be bad if they find out who he was. But, wherever he ran to, it was as if there was a wolf hiding in one dark corner, and waiting for when he was at his weakest—which was waking up the next day with no recollections of the past—this wasn’t about finding answers any longer. This was about survival.
One day, sitting on boulders of rock, overlooking a large body of water, Alex thought about all the things he’d had to do to get to this point. The dangers he’s had to face. The constant fear, and terror of having his memory slip away. He couldn’t keep living like this. He couldn’t keep looking over his shoulders for any big bad, thinking ‘what was the next thing?’ He had to go home, to his tribe, to his homeland. He wasn’t done searching for answers, not by a long shot, but at least, it wouldn’t be like he was a fugitive.

"Esther?" Alpha Killian fingers caressed the witch's pale skin, "Help me out, won't you?"
Esther was a tall slender woman with high cheekbones and a perfect side profile, her eyes were gray that if she stared at someone who didn't know her, they would think she was blind. But she wasn't. She could see through physical structures, the spiritual realm, the past, the future.
"I don't know, the future Is uncertain. I hate uncertainty so I don't want to help you."
Alpha Killian smiled and looked at her with a grin. "Come on, don't you trust me?"
"I only trust what I can see. I don't see how manipulating that boy can do you any good."
Alpha Killian placed a hand on the witch's shoulder and she looked over her shoulder, her gray eyes turning pitch white.
Alpha Killian was surprised by this and he let out a scream and backed up against the wall.
Esther let out a chuckle and smirked at him, "What a scaredy-cat!" She laughed. "YOU CAN'T FACE ME YET, you want a killing machine." She grumbled under her breath before taking a step toward him and kicking him.
Alpha Killian let out a cry and looked at Esther who did not show any form of emotion.
"Well, I'm not going to turn him into a killing machine." He grumbled, "It's just.. He has powers unlike any I've ever seen. Even more than that of the gods, I presume."
"Don't cross the line, Alpha. The man you so desperately want to control won't precede the gods. As long as you pretend he doesn't exist. Manipulating a man who doesn't have memory is the same as bringing disaster upon yourself and your kinsmen.
"That's why I want you to give him a memory."
"What kind of memory?"
Alpha Killian smiled, "I heard your family betrayed you so you killed them all. In the history books, you're the worst type of creature. You're not fully a witch either. You defy spiritual laws and have both sides—"
"—Shut up," Esther interrupted and Alpha Killian smiled once he realized that he'd pushed her buttons, now she would have no choice but to do exactly what he wanted."
"Your vampirical traits are not dormant, Esther. No matter how much you conceal it, you can't hide under the guise of being a witch forever. In the history books, you're the most horrific vampire who has no emotions and killed her family. Because of this, your people hate you for ruining the vampire's reputation so you did something to yourself and made yourself like this.. A vampire with witchy traits. However, if you give the boy the memory of your family betraying you and you massacring them.. He would be the most feared monster in the history of the supernatural."
Esther smirked, "I don't think you're doing this because you want to clean up my reputation."
"No," Alpha Killian replied straightforwardly. "I'm doing this because I want to be the most feared among the seven tribes. Then I'll lead all of them! With my very own personal killing machine."
"You're silencing them," Esther stated the obvious. "Because you want to rule them."
"Do I?" He chuckled darkly.
"I'll do it." Esther said.
However, it wasn't because Alpha Killian wanted her to.
"Then, I'll bring you to him."

Two bulky men walked into the room, pulling along with them an unconscious man. Esther who was sitting on a table, with a tea cup in hand glanced at the man who was dumped at the corner of the room.
She recognised him.
The special one whose name would be pronounced in history for decades to come.
She placed the tea cup on the table and stood on her feet. It was time to work.
She closed her eyes and created a barrier around the room. She used mind control to have him seated in a cross-legged position.
She also sat in front of him and placed both of their palms together.
It didn't take long for her to read his entire life story but she just couldn't seem to understand why he couldn't hold memories. His life was fairly decent compared to many she'd seen.
Maybe his soul couldn't comprehend body language cues. He was loved by many of the people who entered his lives but many of them didn't vocalize it. So he might have felt alone.
It still wasn't enough reason for him to lose memory that easily.
She tried to dig into the reason, but she couldn't and that scared her. What was he?!
That didn't matter for now.
She'd struck a deal with Killian.
With that, she went to the darkest memories of hers.
Her family had sent her to go out with a family friend so that she could collect some incense to give her father to help him sleep well. She naively followed the man and she didn't suspect her family friend until they were in front of a cliff with nowhere to run.
"Just how stupid are you, to trust me this much?"
The man laughed evilly and revealed the hand he hid behind his back which contained a knife.
Younger Esther was in shock and didn't react on time so the sharp knife was thrust into her chest. She let out a gasp and the man laughed, showing his teeth.
This was the family friend she trusted the most and wouldn't suspect for anything in the world because.. She had a crush on him.
"Why?" She questioned, staring into his eyes that now changed from being gentle to being monstrous.
"You really think the people you call parents are your real family?!"
Her eyes widened and the man laughed at the surprised look on her face.
"They nurtured you this long, just to use your blood to pray for their family ancestors."
With that, she was thrown out of the cliff.
The witch transferred the memories to him. But in his mind's eye, he would only see himself being hurt by the people he was close to in his tribe.
Then she guided an illusive feeling into his heart. Vengeance.
Alexander opened his eyes and this time they were pitch black.
Alpha Killian who had been watching behind the door smiled. Here was the chance he had been waiting for.
"Who are you?" Alexander looked at Esther who simply smiled at her recent well-done work.In just a few minutes, he had fully absorbed the memories she wanted him to.The door opened revealing Alpha Killian whose face held a look of sadness and grief. Esther released the barrier she had placed around the room and Alpha Killian moved towards them and bent over in front of Alexander whose eyes held nothing but rage.Alpha Killian placed a hand on Alexander's shoulder and said, "I saved you."Alexander looked at Alpha Killian. After being knocked off the cliff by a face that looked similar to his brother's, he completely blacked out.Alexander looked at the odd-looking woman and Alpha Killian chuckled, "She's a healer, I brought her here to take a look at you."Alexander simply stared straight at the woman."Actually," Killian brought Alexander's attention back to himself, "I.. Was mistreated by people of that tribe."He showed Alexander the scar on his back, the one he got when he comp
He stood over the dead woman, the memories rushing back into him so fast he had to sit down to catch a breath.Nothing was making sense anymore. His head hurt so bad as the flashes got worse. This time, he let them take him.*Time: Unknown*He slammed the hoe down and the wood split clean in half. He started humming an old song he learnt from his father. His ears pricked up as he heard footsteps particular to Noelle, the love of his life. He let his lips lift in a smile as he straightened, turning around to face her. "I am quite afraid of whoever you are thinking of while doing that." She said, brows arched. He laughed, giving her a smile. "It's no one, trust me." She smiled that soft smile of hers, the one that only he knew. "You sure? You seemed so concentrated."He dropped the hoe, letting his eyes drift to the sky. It was almost time. He knew it, and she did too. "We should start going to the tree." "I am not in a hurry, Noelle." He smiled at her, trying to soothe her fears despi
The gate finally reached Alexander's line of vision and it made him delighted. Finally, he was going to be free from the illusion he called home.He ran towards the gate, his heart beating hard against his ribcage as he neared the gate. After living like a fool— Even though he did not remember the parts of him that were foolish, he could feel it in his soul that he did something foolish. He had dreams that he killed his family and the dreams were almost as vivid as his sight. He hated himself. No, he hated the things he did in the dream. He wasn't sure it was real but he lived quite a long time without memory and having something such as his dream to hold on to made him feel a certain way. A stirring in his chest that made him feel like he could take control of his life.He wasn't sure how but he felt like change would begin once he stepped out of the gate. And he did. He jumped as high as he could and his fingers clutched the metal of the six feet tall gate that was erected into the
Esther walked through the packed crowd, a cloak above her head in Night bliss town. She'd told Alpha Killian a false message because she foresaw that he was going to betray her and out of all things, betrayal didn't sit well with her, so she plotted against him— It didn't take a lot of effort actually. All she had to do was lie sternly and he easily bought her words. She didn't expect him to buy her words. How could he have thought that drinking Alexander's blood would give him powers? That was just ridiculous.Alpha Killian got what he deserved.Esther didn't feel bad about his death at all. In order to live in the world, one would either choose to kill or be killed. She preferred the latter. Ever since she discovered that the people she thought were her family wanted her dead, her entire world changed and so did she. When she was thrown down the cliff by her so-called family friend, she had hit a rock and she smelt death.Next came numbness and coldness emitting from her organs tha
As soon as Esther discovered that she could do more with her dark magic when she ate the strange fruit from the tree that had grown from Alexander's blood, she smiled. To be sure of what she had just discovered, she picked another fruit and ate it. Powers surged through every vein in her body. She felt her dark power reverberate through her blood and her heartbeat in excitement. She closed her eyes and opened them again to focus her attention on a little rock in front of her. She made a mental command at the rock to get even bigger than it already was. When the rock tripled in size, she smiled to herself. Still wanting to test more, she walked to a little grass in front of her and channeled her inner energy into the tip of her middle finger. She touched the grass with it and commanded the little grass to die. Her little smile turned into a large grin and she stood up.She went back to the strange tree and fingered the bark of it with millions of hours floating through her brain. A min
Esther nearly smirked at the expression on the woman's face. She wished that she could caption that look on Alicia's face forever, then she would have and she would replay them in her brain every day. But alas, it was an impossible task."Are you sure about what you just said?" The coven leader asked her."Yes," Esther responded in a loud voice. She was a little proud of herself because of the discovery she had made. But when she heard Alicia scoff, she knew that the woman didn't believe her even before she heard the words."You expect me to believe that? From you who is nothing more than a stinky child that loves nothing more than looking for attention?" The coven leader said.Esther was hurt by the words the leader had spoken to her. It might be true that she seeks attention some of the time, but she had never deliberately sought one. Most of those times, she was always on her own practicing her spells which of course would go wrong and the disaster she created would always attract
When Esther opened her eyes, rays of light from somewhere in the room nearly blinded her eyes and she closed her eyes against the assault. Slowly, she opened her eyes again and looked around angrily for the source of the light. When she saw that it came from the window, she got up to close the window and winced from the pain she felt from the little exercise. She checked the source of the pain and saw a healing wound on her right arm and her thigh. She sat back on the bed as the memories of what happened from the tree came back to her. She shook her head to clear the thought away and she focused on the room she was in. Esther could see that the room she was in was quite shabby given how scanty the room was and she wondered how she got to the placeShe heard the door opening and she looked up. When no one entered through the door, she got apprehensive and centered her thoughts on her power to protect herself. When the leader of the witches' coven popped her head into the room, Esther r
After the elder had left, Esther had begun to pace around the little room she was in, lost in thought over the things that could be or not. Her mind whirled around the new information she had just gotten from elder Victoria and no matter how much she tried to process it, Esther still wasn't sure what she should believe. She didn't know if the elder had said the truth of the matter or if she had spewed nothing but lies. For all she knew, Esther had even guessed if the idea of the elder telling her such things wasn't the coven leader's idea. The woman could have thought about testing her and she might have decided that lying to Esther and seeing her reaction would let her know if she was loyal or not. Or the elder could be saying the truth to Esther about the leader's intention. Hadn't she believed that the leader was acting suspiciously also? She had and that was the thought that had left her feeling lost until she had slept off. When elder Victoria had told her about the evil deed th
*Olivia's POV*I sobbed over his still body, feeling a part of me dying. He couldn't be dead. He just couldn't. I wrapped my arms around him, praying to anyone who cared to listen."Please don't take him away from me. I just got him back. I wouldn't let you take him away from me." I buried my nose in his chest, breathing in his scent.I felt something brush my cheek and I lifted my head. A faerie was smiling at me, his eyes friendly. "You must be the mate." I curled my body over Julian's protectively, narrowing my eyes at the intruder. The faerie smiled, shaking his head. His hair fluttered out like water behind him. "I am here to help you, Luna. I saw everything that happened. It went surprisingly well."I stared at him, pulling Julian closer to my chest. "What are you saying?" "I saw everything that could have happened. The different possibilities. This path was surprisingly fortunate."He looked at me and the look on his eyes made me shiver. "Do you wish to know what could have hap
OLIVIA'S POVMy legs moved faster than I thought was possible as I headed to the packhouse, my legs were already sore from the running but this was Julian we were talking about, I couldn't let him get himself killed. He shouldn't have come here in the first place. He had no idea that Leo was an insane person.I forced my worn-out legs to keep moving no matter the pain that shot up through my legs.I breathed in and paused for a moment to catch my breath. Beads of sweat formed on my forehead and I wiped them with my sleeve.Moon goddess, please...My feet brushed through the corpses in front of the packhouse. My heart tightened and I look over at their faces, "No, not Julian."The corpses lifeless faces reminded me of the people who I had killed in rage.Memories of how I killed my brother, Gillian also filled my head.I had ripped out his heart with no remorse despite his words.I always blamed him for treating me unkindly, yet I killed him. Wasn't I worse than him?Was this why the m
OLIVIA'S POV."There's one more thing, my lady." The leader said in a serious tone.I lifted my eyes and stared at him in wonder about what else he could want from me."What would that be?" I asked him when he didn't say anything for almost a minute after he had spoken. He got up, came to my side and he began to pace around me. All through his scrutiny, I was very nervous but I tried my best to keep my anxiety down since I didn't want to display fear in the den of the wolves. At last, he stood in front of me and stared directly into my eyes."I can still smell your fear, my lady. Have you forgotten that I am an Alpha wolf? My sense of smell is a lot heightened than that of ordinary werewolves." He told me.When I looked at him in shock, he flashed his teeth before me. I wanted to vobblered him but I held on to my restraint. Gone were the days of mindless killings."You feel like killing me, don't you?" He asked me again with a naughty smile. He didn't wait for my response or my anger
OLIVIA'S POV.The Emerett's people moved out of the cage and I followed them at a safe distance, making sure that none of them spotted me. Ever since Emerett had taken me into his care and he and his people had done nothing but take care of me. Emerett made sure I never packed for a thing even once and his men treated me with respect. Even the books that Emerett never joked about, he had allowed me to borrow them times without numbers. There was however one thing I had noticed about the group led by Emerett ever since I had arrived at the cave. Even though the men were very good werewolves who knew how to hunt for good meat, they always came back with little.Although Emerett had given me a head up about how the other party called White Ice had always stolen the prey his men hunted for and even when I had monitored them and saw how they acted for myself, it had been a little bit hard for me to come up with the perfect plan for Emerett's men to accept me. But now I have the perfect pla
*Julian's POV*I tried not to let my emotions show on my face as I stormed past the gate. Two of the guardsmen were sleeping, immediately getting up when I passed.I was too tired not to stop and scold them. Everytime I closed my eyes or stopped to breathe for even a second, I saw Olivia's face. I kept hearing her voice. She had chosen Vanessa over me. A few werewold kids were playing in the park, some of them stopping bouncing the ball to wave at me. I waved back, faking a wide smile. One of them pointed at their heart, calling out. "Where's Luna?" I bit my lip, shaking my head as I walked away. I knew my people would ask about Olivia, since they were aware I had left to get her back. I sighed, rubbing my forehead. This was going to be a problem. My wolf snorted, rolling his eyes. I ignored him, changing my direction to walk towards my cabin. Hopefully, no one would be there.I swung the door open, trying to ignore the little presence and scent of Olivia that lingered inside. I cu
*Olivia's POV*I stood there waiting for about a minute before Ron came back and the first thing he said when he saw me was. "The dress fits you better. Maria would be thrilled."I assumed Maria was his mate and I nodded at him, lifting the gown so it wouldn't sweep against the floor. I walked behind him, pondering on how exactly to project myself so the clan liked me.I needed their approval to stay here. Ron led me down another staircase and I lifted my eyes to see a spread of them. The pit was dug out like a concert arena. The uplifted part was decorated like a throne and I saw Emerett sitting on the chair. He had his head in his hands, and he only looked up when the whispers started. His eyes widened and he moved to his feet. Ron nodded at me, going to stand in the crowd. I could feel all their eyes on me as I made my way to the stage and I tried to tune out my ears so I wouldn't hear what they were saying. My wolf was more curious and she won this battle."Oh my goodness. She i
*Olivia's POV*Emerett decided to take me around the cave after the mini breakfast in his room. The cave was bigger than I expected, with curtains and mud walls sectioning it into smaller parts. There were a few wolves outside the curtain rooms, watching me with suspicious eyes. I could feel their eyes bore holes into me with every step I took."They are watching me." "They have never seen a wolf like you before. Fear not. They would attack you as long as you stand by me." I looked one in the eye as we passed by her grinding something that looked pink. The coldness in her eyes made me shiver and rub my forearms."They don't take a liking to new people?" Emerett glanced at the woman over his shoulder. "That's just how Edith behaves. She lost her husband to an intruder so she is really suspicious of every new person we bring. She will eventually warm up to you."I sincerely doubted that, but I kept my mouth closed. The cave was huge and it seemed the tour would never end. I took note of
*Olivia's POV*I kept running, feeling the wind rushing in my ears. My wolf was tense, making me run faster than normal. I heard a growl behind me and I made the mistake of looking back. I stumbled over a tree trunk and fell to the floor. "Get her." I heard a voice hiss and I immediately scrambled to my feet. I took on a fighting stance, glaring at them. The one in the middle was staring at me with wide eyes. His eyes were dark, like the night sky when the moon was nowhere to be found. Behind him were at least three more wolves, all wearing the same band around their wrists. I felt a shiver crawl up my spine when I realized what they were. My wolf said it for me, her voice sounding like a growl. "Rouges."The night sky eyed wolf smiled, standing straighter. "You are smart. But I would beg to differ since you are here. What are you doing around our parts?" I kept my eye on him, watching him move around me. "I don't want any trouble."One of the rogues laughed, rolling his eyes. "T
OLIVIA'S POV.I dragged Vanessa's body out of the cabin into the woods, grunting all the way. The tears wouldn't stop flowing from my eyes either at the loss of the woman who had been nothing but a friend and a protector to me. When I finally managed to drag her to the backyard, in the deep of the woods, I was already panting for breath and wishing that some sort of help would arrive for me.When I looked at Vanessa's dead body which was beginning to smell a little, the tears fell even more. They ran down my cheeks in streaks like they were racing for the finishing line that would signify their survival. Perhaps, I should be honest withh myself at the junction where I was now.Vanessa's death had a huge toll on me than I was letting on. It affected me deeper in my spirit than I care to admit to anyone. I have myself a cynical cruel short laughter. Who was I kidding? There was no one to let out my emotions or what I was going through. It was just me, the dead body, the trees, the anima
