Killian stared at the woman in front of him, she was looking everywhere but at him, trying to avoid his eyes. She seemed to be scared of him as she shrunk back under his gaze. He hadn't been able to see her properly the previous day because it was dark and the rush and excitement of it all. Now when he looked at her properly, he could see she was quite pleasing to look at. While he wouldn't call her the most beautiful woman he had ever seen, she had features that were charming to look at and made her pretty.
She had long blonde hair. Her face was heart shaped, her eyes were moon shaped and they were the most beguiling turquoise green. She had a pointed nose and full lips. And she had this innocence about her that set Killian's entire body on fire and made him glad that she was his.
'His mate', Killian corrected himself. He had to stop thinking like that.
Sara squirmed uncomfortably under Killian's gaze, it was hard not to. He was staring at her so intensely, like he wanted to eat her alive. Maybe he would do that. Sara had been shocked when the maid had bowed and called him alpha. The person who had saved her was the alpha of the Blue Moon pack? The whole thing was still surprising for her. Why had he saved her?
"What's your name?", Killian asked suddenly, startling Sara.
"Huh?", Sara asked, confused.
"Your name, I didn't get your name", Killian told her.
"Oh, it's Sara"
"Sara", Killian repeated the name and despite what Sara thought, she liked the sound of her name coming from Killian.
"And are you feeling better, Sara?", Killian asked.
Sara nodded stiffly.
"Yes"
"That's good then. I just wanted to check that you're awake. I'll leave you to it then", Killian said and turned around to leave.
"Why...", Sara began and Killian paused.
"Why did you save me?", Sara asked softly.
Killian turned around and cocked his head at her curiously.
"Don't you feel it?", Killian asked her.
Sara blinked confusedly.
"Feel what?", she asked back.
"The mate bond", Killian answered in a matter of fact tone.
Sara's head exploded.
She suddenly remembered hearing him growl 'mate' just before she passed out the previous night but she had thought that was just her imagination.
"Mate bond?", she croaked.
Killian eyed her curiously and walked to her.
"Yes, the mate bond. I felt it in the woods last night and followed it, it led me to you", Killian told her.
Sara was wide eyed now and her mind was working over time. Was he trying to say that she was his mate?
"But that's impossible"
Killian eyed her.
"Why? Why is it impossible?", Killian asked her.
Sara stopped herself before she could say anything.
"It just is", she answered softly.
The two stayed in silence, with Killian staring at Sara, curiosity in his eyes and Sara avoiding his gaze.
"I want to go home. When can I return home?", Sara asked finally cutting the silence.
"As my mate and future Luna of the pack, I would hope you would stay here", Killian answered.
"But...", Sara began to protest but Killian interrupted her.
"But you don't seem to believe me about the mate bond so why don't you rest up for now and later we can go see the moon priestess, and we can ask her", Killian suggested and Sara considered his words.
It was a good suggestion.
"Ok", she nodded in agreement.
"Good", Killian said and left.
Sara laid in the silence, trying to sort out her thoughts until the door opened and the maid from earlier walked in.
"My lady, do you need anything?", she asked softly.
Sara regarded her. She was pretty and had a kind smile.
"What is your name?", Sara asked her.
"I'm called Violet, my lady", the maid answered.
"Violet", Sara repeated the name.
"Violet, why do you keep calling me 'my lady'?", Sara asked.
"May I be honest my lady?", Violet asked.
"Of course"
"When the alpha brought you back last night, you were unconscious. He carried you in his arms and wouldn't let anyone else touch you. When the healers were attending to you, he was pacing about outside worried. So I figured you must be important to him", Violet answered.
"Well I'm not anyone important and honestly the my lady thing makes me cringe. I think we are around the same age as well so you can just call me by my name instead, Sara"
Violet looked like she was thinking about it before a smile broke on her face.
"Alright then, Sara", she said and Sara smiled back.
"And uh, thank you for not telling the alpha about the little incident earlier", Sara thanked her.
"Not a problem my- er Sara. I figured you were just scared, I would be too", Violet reassured her with a smile.
"And I know he seems cold but our alpha really isn't that bad", she added.
Sara smiled at her but she wasn't sure how much she believed that.
Killian walked to the council room where his council members were already waiting for him. They all bowed when Killian entered the room. Killian waved them off and stalked over to the head of the table.
"Let's start the meeting", Killian announced.
"I think our most pressing issue right now should be the number of rogue wolf attacks", Cillian, one of the elders, pointed out immediately and the others nodded their heads in agreement.
"Yes, their attacks have become more frequent over the course of the last few weeks and getting closer and closer to our territory", another elder pointed out.
"General, what are we doing about this?"Alfred, another council member, asked , looking at Jared, general of Killian's army.
"We are working very hard to pinpoint the exact source of their attacks so we can nip the threat in the bud", Jared answered.
"Work harder", Killian said coldly.
"Where I encountered them yesterday was dangerously close to our borders, too close", Killian said.
"Yes my alpha", Jared answered through gritted teeth.
"Speaking of yesterday..", Cerebus, a high ranking member of the council that had been quiet the whole time began to speak.
"My alpha, another full moon has passed and you're yet to find your mate", he pointed out.
"This I believe, is a more pressing matter", He added and there was rumbles of agreement from around the table.
Killian frowned as he looked at him.The issue of his mate had been a pressing matter for his council since he turned 25 without a mate. They always made it a point to stress how much the pack needed a Luna, for stability they always said. That may have been the intentions of the other council members, but Killian knew Cerebus' true intentions. He glanced at Jared. The two had been trying to pressure him to take Jared's daughter, Lydia as a mate saying she was a perfect fit to be the Luna. And while Jared was a good general, he was too ambitious and Killian didn't want to be tied to him anymore than necessary.
"In regards to that, I have good news to share with the council", Killian said.
Everyone at the table became silent.
"I have found my mate", Killian announced and registered the varying looks of shock and surprise on each of his council members.
"What?!", Jared exclaimed forcefully before he realized and checked himself.
Surprise flashed on Cerebus' face but he quickly regained his composure.
"That is good news my alpha", Cerebus spoke first.
"Indeed", a rumble of agreements followed across the table.
"When did you find her? And is she someone we know?", Cillian asked.
"Last night, under the full moon in the woods", Killian answered calmly.
Killian watched as realization flashed in Jared's eyes.
"My alpha, are you by any chance talking about the young woman you brought back yesterday?", Jared asked suspiciously.
"Yes, she is my mate", Killian answered.
There was an outburst of murmurs among the council members.
"That's good. It is a good thing that our alpha has found his mate", Cerebus said with a smile.
"And where is from, my alpha? Do you know?", Cerebus asked.
"Not yet, but later we will go see the moon priestess to learn more about our bond"
"That's good. That's good", Cerebus said, smile still plastered on his face.
Actually, Killian had a suspicion of where Sara was from given where he had found her but he wasn't going to say that here not until he knew for sure, because he knew, the fact that the future Luna of the pack might be from the Red Moon pack would be a more pressing matter for his council members than his mateless status.
Weeks passed, and Sara had begun to adjust to her new environment. However, the peace and quietness she enjoyed as opposed to the torment she suffered in the Red moon pack didn't last long also.Killian left the council hall, as he had lot's of things to attend to.“How could he bring a woman of an unknown origin? And he claimed her to be his…Luna?” Jared screamed, while the rest of the elders murmured in agreement.“What baffles me most is that she might actually be from an enemy pack.” Cerebrus said with a sigh.Silence swept over the whole room as everyone shook their heads in utter disgust.“I know what to do.” Jared said, his face became cold and stony, and his fists were tightly clenched. He stood up from his seat and headed towards the ancestral cave, a cave which was rumored to hold various ancient artifacts.“My Lord, what do you want here?” Jared's most trusted man, Arthur said to him.“I need to take the diamond stone.” Jared replied, and Arthur's eyes opened wide.“The dia
Killian's eyeballs became red with anger as he stared at the pathetic Sara. He picked up the stone from the ground and sighed.“Diamond stone? Who could be so bold to place this stone on my Luna?” He growled, his intimidating aura could be felt miles away.Jared was beyond shocked, he wasn't expecting Killian's sudden appearance. He nearly had a heart attack as Killian scraped off the stone at the very moment that he had waited for.“Guards!” Killian screamed, and two men ran towards him.“Yes, my Alpha.” They chorused simultaneously.“Who did this to my Luna?” He asked them fiercely, and they both trembled. They had suddenly felt dizzy and they both passed out while they were safeguarding Sara's room.“Did you suddenly lose your voices? Didn't I instruct you to keep her safe?” He roared at them, his icy aura pierced through their heart.Killian called another set of guards and ordered them to drag the incompetent guards out of his presence.“Twenty lashes each,” he commanded, as they
Sara's pulse raced as she regained her consciousness, her eyes were covered, and a cloth was stuffed into her mouth which prevented her from screaming. She struggled to stand up as some footsteps approached her hurriedly, but her legs and hands were both tied. She could tell that it wasn't a single person, as they marched towards her.“What do we do with her?” A man said. His voice was deep, and it echoed inside the cave that Sara was kept.“Let's wait for her orders.” The other man replied. His voice, though deep, was a bit softer than the first man’s.Suddenly, Another footstep could be heard approaching them, which was rather soft and elegant. Whoever was coming must be an elegant and beautiful lady. The men bowed before her, and called her;“My lady,” they greeted, and Sara wondered who the person could be.The only thing she could sense from the lady was her strong scent which filled up her nostrils.“Nice job.” The lady said coldly. Her icy voice was in total contrast to how sof
Killian carried Sara back to the castle, people stared in awe as he held her tightly to his chest.“My lady.” Violet called as she ran towards Killian.“Are you alright?” She asked instantly, while Sara nodded.“Take her to her chambers so she could rest.” Killian ordered, while Violet obeyed. He placed Sara down who muttered a thanks to him as she walked away. Her encounter had indeed traumatized her, but the lovely scent and warmth of Killian calmed her heart. Killian watched her as she walked away, he had never realized how deep he cared for her, until the critical moment. He smiled for some seconds after which a deep frown took over his face. He turned to the men that were being held by the guards.“Jim,” he called out his personal assistant.“Yes sir,” Jim replied as he hurried to his side.“Call me the elders, I have an important meeting with them.” Killian said in an authoritative voice.“Yes, my Alpha.” Jim said with a bow.Killian turned to the common room where the meeting w
It was another full moon night, which signified that it was already a month that Zayne rejected Sara as his mate. He sat on his throne, and let out a deep sigh. He couldn't help but wonder who his new mate was going to be.Several maidens were dressed in their most beautiful attires, each one of them praying hard to get a mate.Zayne flung his gaze over all the people who had gathered in the pack’s Market square. Everyone of them was in eager anticipation, and filled with joy.The case was different for Zayne. Somehow, he had felt a lonley spot in his heart right from when he rejected Sara, which made him think if he had made the right decision by rejecting her.A loud chanting was heard, and everyone turned their eyes in the direction. The moon priestess was seen walking towards the center of the gathering. She held a long staff, and some ladies, all dressed in white, walked behind her.“Red moon pack, I bring to you the wishes of the moon goddess.” The moon priestess said, and a sil
Sara whispered softly as she walked through the woods. She glanced at the full moon that shone brightly on the ground. She could hear some happy noises coming from the pack's gathering floor. The excitement that came with the unmated werewolves getting their mate was unparalleled.Sara sighed as she sat on a stone, humming softly while she thought of her whole life in general, especially since her meeting with Killian.Sara could feel herself getting drawn to Killian, especially last time when he saved her from the coffin, and carried her in his arms home. She longed for the warmth she felt that day.“But what's with his cold aura?” She asked herself. Nice and handsome as Killian was, he exuded a cold and distant aura, that made those close to him shiver in fear. Even Sara sometimes would be struck with fear whenever Killian approached her.She sighed, and got up to be on her way when she heard a cry, more like a baby's cry. She wanted to ignore but the cry became louder that she coul
Killian watched with a smile as all the unmated werewolves got their own mate. His heart was enriched with happiness as he watched his pack filled with joy.Suddenly, he felt a sharp pain go through his heart, which made him stand up immediately.“What was that?” He couldn't help but ask himself. He threw a gaze around the whole pack while he panted heavily. The pain occured for the second time and he held his chest in pain.“What's going on?” He muttered in pain.He sat down gently as he observed the whole environment. He had an intuition that something was going wrong.“Oh no! Sara!” He exclaimed as he got a hold of what the pain meant. It was their mate pull, it was their mate pull that made him feel so uncomfortable.“Something must be wrong with Sara.” He muttered to himself. He beckoned to one of his guards, and instructed him to safeguard his throne.“I will be back soon.” He said to the guard, as he flew into the woods, running as fast as his legs could carry him.Meanwhile, w
A loud knock sprang the two of them up simultaneously. Killian stared through the curtains, the sun shone brightly which hinted the dawn of another day. The knock persisted once again.Killian walked down the bed, and yanked the door open.“Why must you disturb me in the early mornings?” A guard stood in front of Killian, his head slightly bowed.“Good morning, my Alpha. I was told to inform you that you have an urgent meeting with the silver bird pack.” The guard replied.Killian sighed. The silver bird pack had been their business partner over the years.“I will be there in a minute.” Killian responded and slammed the door shut.Sara’s lips wore a bright smile as Killian turned to her,“Hope all is well?” She asked him.“Of course. I just have a business meeting to attend to, and it's very urgent.”Killian wore his clothes, and striped his belt around him.“Danger lurks around, so don't go anywhere. Wait for me to come back.” Killian said, as he walked out of the room.Sara nodded.
“Are you crazy? Are you asking for our Alpha's death?” An angered elder yelled out at Savannah, who didn't seem to care.“Yes. You want him to stab his own and wolf's heart? That's just telling him to end his own life.” Another elder added, but Savannah didn't seem to budge. It is well known that a werewolf’s life belongs in his wolf’s heart. To kill a werewolf, you have to take out his wolf's heart and destroy it.That way, even the wolf won't be able to reincarnate and live another life.“That's why I gave him two options…no, three options.”“He can choose to stab his own heart, marry Lydia, or watch his lover die.” She said in a tone that made Killian feel like pouncing on her and beating her up.“But what will you…”“I will do it.” Killian interrupted the elder, who instantly turned to him.“You will do what?” The elder asked in shock.“You will marry Lydia, or you will stab your own heart?” Savannah mischievously asked, and Killian smiled. He looked at Sara and rubbed her hair ge
“What?” The whole crowd exclaimed as Savannah refused to obey the Alpha's order and heal Clara.“Why? Why don't you want to save her?” Killian asked her, while Savannah let out a bitter laugh.“Because I don't want to.” She replied and sat comfortably on her seat, gently sipping the wine placed in front of her.“What do you mean by you don't want to? She is your Luna!” Killian screamed at her and she received no response from Savannah.“Okay…okay. I, Killian, Alpha of the blue moon pack, hereby order you to cure my Luna.” Killian ordered, and everyone flung their gazes at Savannah, thinking she had no choice but to cure Sara. To their utmost surprise, she rejected the Alpha's order.“How dare you disobey the alpha?” One of the elders asked. He was so angered by Savannah's rude behavior towards the alpha.Meanwhile, both Clara and Lydia enjoyed the show from the side of the hall.“It's about to go down.” Lydia chuckled while Clara smiled.“Because I have the power to reject it.” Savann
It was the moon priestess' birthday ceremony. Well-wishers trooped in and out of her residence, beaming with smiles.“So we are holding a banquet for her?” Sara asked Killian in shock and he wondered why she was so shocked about the news.“Yes of course. But why do you seem so flustered?” Killian uttered as he wore his favorite red robe with a phoenix pattern.“You didn't tell me beforehand so I could have prepared a gift for her. How would the Luna of a pack attend a gathering without a gift? And it's not even an ordinary figure; it's the moon priestess, for crying out loud.” Sara screamed as she paced the room nervously. She wondered how embarrassed she would feel at the banquet.Killian dragged her hand and smiled at her.“See, you are getting all worked up. As the Luna of our pack, you should always remember to keep your cool no matter the situation. Anytime I go fiery as a man, you should be the one to calm me down.” Killian said with a sigh while Sara stared at him.“It's easier
Clara fumbled with her skirt as she headed out of her room. She had sensed Zayne's power and she knew for sure that he was nearby. As she stepped into the courtyard, Zayne swiftly passed in front of her, and she hurriedly lowered her head.“Don't forget your mission.” Zayne's voice echoed as he disappeared with the wind.“Yes, my Alpha,” Clara replied with her hands crossed across her chest. She let out a sigh and plucked a twig. She seemed to be at a loss for what to do. The witch Queen, Calypso had suddenly appeared to her the previous night and specifically gave her some orders.“Sara and Killian, kill them both!” Calypso had ordered and she had no other choice but to obey. She had originally planned to eliminate Sara at once while she slowly destroyed Killian, but the witch queen's orders had just changed everything. She sighed again, wondering how Calypso knew of her existence in the blue moon pack.As she racked her brain further, an idea suddenly popped into her head.“Leon!” S
Everyone aside, Killian shrunk in terror as Zayne made his awe-inspiring entrance into the throne room. Even though he had a mask on, he exuded a cold and murderous aura that even Killian had to take extra caution against him.Zayne had a bit of shock written on his face as he laid his eyes on Killian. It was his first time coming across Killian, and something struck him with shock.“Insolent! Don't you know it's a great offense to trespass into the blue moon pack?” Killian roared at Zayne. He mustered up his strength and exuded an equal amount of cold aura.Zayne's smirk could be seen on his lower lip which was not covered by the mask.“You can say that to any other person, but I am Zayne, your greatest rival. I will oppose you at every opportunity given.” He yelled, he raised his arms to display his dominance and might.Killian stepped down and walked closer to Zayne.“I will advise you to be cautious of your words and behavior. You are in my territory, it's very easy for me to exec
Zayne watched his elders argue amongst themselves as to how to deal with the pressing matter.“I told you guys not to worry, I have dealt with the issue once Elder Lauren relayed it to me,” Zayne said, and a hush of murmurs swept across the hall.“But still, there's no way our minds would be at ease. We have one of us as the Luna of our enemy pack, once Killian gains her trust, he can learn so much about us from her. I am afraid our end is very much near.” An elder, who was a bit younger than Elder Lauren said. He is popularly referred to as Elder Alexander.“I understand your concerns, and I promise you that everything is under control. We also have spies in their midst, trust me.” Zayne said in a bid to calm the elders’ nerves. He was getting frustrated by their incessant nagging. The remaining elders took turns to share their concerns, while Elder Lauren remained quiet throughout the meeting.“Is anything on your mind, elder Lauren?” Zayne asked as he noticed how silent he was thro
Clara's face widened in excitement as she was being led to her room, she giggled to herself, happy that her plan had worked out.She followed the guard closely behind her while she rolled her eyes all over the place as if she were looking for something. She lowered her head as a hefty guard walked towards them, he was the chief guard. The guard leading Clara to her room saluted the chief guard, while Clara winked at him. The chief guard understood what she meant, and he winked back at her.“Where are you taking her to?” The Chief guard questioned, deliberately delaying the guard so he could have some time with Clara.“The Alpha ordered that I should take her to one of the unoccupied rooms.” The guard replied with a slight bow.“It's alright. You can leave.” The chief guard ordered, and the other guard raised his head to look at him.“Excuse me?” The guard asked as politely as he could.“Didn't you hear me? Or do you want to defy my orders?” The chief guard screamed, and the guard hurr
It was a lovely night as Sara rested her head on Killian's arms, who just kept on staring at the moon.“What's on your mind?” Sara asked as she noticed Killian's uneasy expression.“Nothing much, I am just baffled by the issue of rogue wolves in the pack. An incident happened this morning, and it made me so sad, it made me feel like I failed my people as their Alpha and couldn't protect them.” He said with a sigh, and Sara could sense some remorse in his voice. She sat up, grabbed Killian's hand, and rubbed it gently.“No dear, you are trying your best, and there's no doubt about that. You can ask anyone in the pack, and I am sure they will tell you that you are the best Alpha they’ve ever had.” Sara said to him while Killian smiled.“Are you saying that to console me? You didn't even meet the previous Alpha, how did you know that I am better than him?” Killian teased; he had his usual smirk on his face while Sara shrunk under his gaze.“I am not, seriously. I overheard some women tal
Zayne sat on his throne chair when a guard walked up to him.“My Alpha, Elder Lauren wants to have an audience with you.” The guard bowed, while Zayne sighed.Elder Lauren had always been on his neck for the issue of his mate, he had frequented the palace just to remind him that he was mate-less.“What a jobless old man.” He muttered between bated breaths, wondering what he might be in his palace for very early in the morning.“Let him in.” He ordered the guard, who bowed and walked out of the room.A few seconds later, a white-bearded man walked in; one could tell that he was already in his early eighties by the way he walked, yet he still bothered himself with the pack matters.“Greetings, my Alpha.”“Greetings, Elder Lauren. Did you come here again because of my mate? I told you not to worry yourself, you are old already and should just take a rest at home.” Zayne said in a single breath, hoping the old man would just give up and walk away. But to his greatest surprise, Elder Laure
