Lucas POV

As we made our way back to the house, I was still gripped by the shock of what had transpired earlier on. Fiona was only a little girl and wielding such powers at such a tender age could not be traced to learning. It had to be natural.

After the dove cooed in her palm, she released the bird into the air and we all stood and watched it flutter away into the sky, alive and well. How was that even possible?

The questions swirled in my mind, but I knew we had to get back before anything else unexpected happened.

“Alright, let’s call it a day,” I said, trying to keep my voice steady. Fiona nodded, looking a little weary. I bent down and lifted her into my arms, her small frame feeling fragile against me. Raymond, on the other hand, seemed to prefer walking alone, his face set in a stubborn expression.
