Chapter 5 Jumping off the cliff

PHOENIX'S POV

After dealing with all the rogues, I couldn't find any trace of Benjamin. Thoughts of that defiant slave resurfaced, stoking my anger within me. However, as I returned to my chamber and saw the mess of wolves, realization struck— that slave had managed to escape! How was that possible? No one could break free from my iron chains!

I immediately ordered the guards to be brought to me. I needed to uncover the truth!

I threw the goblet on the floor, right next to the guard who was responsible for guarding my room, especially because I had a little slave whom I had just locked in that room.

This foolish guard who had just left his post and went to the bar to fuck another woman despite having a mate, had reported that the little slave I had chained to my bed had escaped, only leaving the stains of blood on the sheet along with the chains that I used to bind her!

"It's no use apologizing to me. You already heard my temper." I tried to sound calm and indifferent despite the fact that I was burning with anger deep inside of my heart.

After I said those words, my beta, who is my second-in-command, the fact that he was standing right on my side, immediately stepped his foot, walking towards the guard who kept on kowtowing me, begging for forgiveness.

I let out a sneer at his actions. No matter what he did, he wouldn't be able to find that little slave who dared to escape from my hands.

Just thinking about it made my heart fill with fury.

I waved my hands and coldly commanded, "Send all of our troops to find that little slave! Bring her body to me, either dead or alive!"

I just stormed out that day out of anger and left the room all because I didn't want to kill her, yet after I came back, there was no slave that I saw in my bed!

Looking at the stains on the bed and the chains that even had traces of her tissue, it seemed like she forced her way out to break free from being bound by the chain.

Good. Good. I was too merciful to her.

Denver, who was kicking the stomach of the foolish guard and kept on cursing him for being a son of a bitch, suddenly stopped his actions and looked at me with brows furrowed.

"Why do you want to bring her back? Didn't you hate her very much? Either way, given her situation, it seemed that she broke her bones to break free from the chains. If she escapes earlier than this hour, she won't survive either." He calmly explained while looking at me in the eyes, as he persuaded me to just forget about that woman.

Of course, I know that little slave won't easily survive even if she manages to get out of my territory, especially because rogues are getting more daring these days.

Plus given with that little slave's body... I'm sure that she won't survive that night.

However, if only it wasn't for the howl of my wolf, I would easily give up on that woman and let her die.

I waved my hands and carelessly answered his question. "I can't let her go, especially when she is the only one who knows the whereabouts of Benjamin."

I saw Denver rolling his eyes. "We can just find that Benjamin given with how large our base and so our connection is! There is no need for us to hold that little slave! Just let her die!"

"I have to remind you that she is my mate." I coldly said while glaring at him.

Denver snorted and picked up the collar of the foolish guard that had been beaten by him until he passed out.

"Aren't you the one who says that you already rejected her?" He retorted, making me choke back.

I glared at him. "She cannot die, otherwise my father would start nagging me. Although I am not afraid of him, he was too annoying."

"Just kill them off if it annoys you. Anyway, you were a tyrant back then. You become like this because of a woman." Denver commented, making me sneer.

"Oh did I?" I coldly said while raising my brows.

As if Denver had been reminded of something, he clicked his tongue. "I was wrong. You were the same as ever."

After he said that, he dragged the foolish guard's bloody body and added before he left. "I'll just report to you once I find your little slave."

I shook my head after hearing it and walked my way out of the door.

"I'll find that little slave myself and punish her according to my wishes once I catch her." I coldly snorted, "since she wanted to play hide and seek with me, then I'll play along."

Without waiting for his response that would just oppose my decision, I had already left the hall and went out of the forest without much hassle.

The moment I had entered the forest, I couldn't help but click my tongue when I felt such an ominous killing intent all over the forest.

I wonder if that little slave found a place to hide for a while.

'You better save her...'

"Of course I'll save her. Otherwise, what am I doing here in this forest? Sightseeing?" I answered in mockery.

'You'll regret being an asshole.'

I couldn't help but roll my eyes at the words that were left by my wolf.

"I don't make regrets. You should already know about it since you are my wolf." I answered while walking my way inside of the forest while, at the same time, I was trying to scent her.

Since she was my mate, I would have been able to pick up her scent easily, yet for some reason, I couldn't scent her, as if she had vanished.

I gritted my teeth and rushed my way into the middle of the forest.

However, I saw a familiar figure that was almost flying in the air when she was fighting against someone. I even saw white fur appearing on her neck, plus her eyes were also silver and it was glowing, especially when it was hit by the light of the moon.

Little slave?

I'm sure that it was her.

"Little slave!"

Seeing that she didn't hear my call, I gnashed my teeth in anger and called her out again while rushing my way towards her direction.

"Hermione!"

This time, I called her through mind-link.

I saw her halt from her footsteps, which made me heave a sigh and I was about to open my mouth again when I saw her directly block her mind so that I wouldn't be able to mind-link her.

She didn't even look back, even though she knew that it was I who called her, and directly left the scene.

Before I could follow her, she ran like a flash and even jumped off the cliff right after.

T...That fucking little slave!
