Alaris

"What the hell was that?"

It was Alex who was hot on my tail as soon as I made my way inside my office. I had only returned after dropping Sera off at her place when he started throwing too many questions in my direction.

Me and Sera had become a hot topic amongst the pack members and I knew I could only avoid it for some time. But having Alex poking me for answers was something I was least looking forward to. The rest of the pack members would have to be courteous enough towards me given my title. They wouldn't go around invading my privacy unless my matters were starting to affect the pack's matters. Alex, on the other hand, would straight up have me serve my ass to him on a platter. The more annoying part was that I couldn't say no to him.

Heaving out a frustrated sigh, I made my way towards the office desk. "And what exactly are you talking about?" I knew what it was about, but instead of giving him the satisfaction, I would rather play oblivious to it. I didn't

Seraphine *** [Two weeks later…] "There you go." A bottle of water appeared before my face as I sat on the ground huffing, my outerwear drenched in sweat. "Thanks." I barely managed to grumble out a response as I practically snatched the bottle away. Seconds later, I was gulping down its contents. It was much needed. Not only the water, but the air I was forcing into my lungs with every breath. Not only had my ass been thrown to the ground multiple times, my arms were supporting bruises. What was worse was that nobody cared about it all. As it wasn't anything out of ordinary for them. Maybe that was the case seeing how fast the rest of them were healing. One minute there would be blood pouring out of deep gashes, and the very next all remained in their places were pink scars. But they were forgetting the crucial thing here; I was not one of them… yet. My wolf didn't allow me to heal like theirs helped them. Hell! She wasn't even willing to share her name with me. "Are you fe

Alaris *** "What are we doing here?" The girl didn't know how to stay quiet for even two minutes. "You'll see." I drew in a deep breath to keep myself in check. Something was seriously wrong with me. As much as it was easier for her to get on my nerves, my wolf refused to be bothered. Be it her overly talkative self, or her talent to call me names. I, on the other hand, was much easier to get to. I would end up losing my temper in two seconds when it came to her. All of that given, I was known to stay calm in the most stressful of the situations. This girl had my wirings short-circuiting in no time. "You said you'll tell me." Suppressing a groan of frustration, I continued trailing ahead of her while making sure that she wasn't too far away. Damn, those short legs. We would have already reached our destination if she wasn't walking this slow. "I said I will tell you once we reach there." I reminded her of my exact words from earlier. "But it's already been an hour since

Seraphine***What in the world was wrong with this man? One minute he would be so caring, and the very next he would have this constant scowl resting on his face as if I had asked him for both of his kidneys. Could werewolves even survive without both? Or did they need at least one of them to be functioning properly like humans? 'Focus, Sera!' I shook the weird thoughts off as I continued to follow him. Given his height, I had to take two steps to cover one of his. Why didn't I accept Hannah's offer while it was still on the table? Sitting in my room back at the packhouse would have been so much better than following him to God knows where. The trail we were following seemed like a never ending dirt track, one which was barely ever used. At least that was all I could tell from the looks of it. I had already questioned him a million times over by now about where we are heading since we started this trail, but the man refused to give me a single clue. As if that was not enough, I ha

Alaris *** Blood—the only thing which could have satiated my hunger. Or more precisely, it was Marcus who was going after the rogue's blood, wanting nothing more than to have a taste of it. His rage was only getting worse as seconds ticked by, his sanity about to snap. Within such a short span of time, he had grown fond of Sera. While she knew how to easily rile me up, her antics never got the best out of Marcus given he would have ripped another person into two by now if they were to tread the same deep waters as his beloved Sera. Moreover, my beast made a promise to keep her protected at all costs. He wanted her out of harm's way and as far as possible from it. It was going to be later that he was going to worry about the presence of a rogue inside the pack borders. How was this one able to get this far inside without alerting the border patrol or tripping the security system? That was for another time for me to figure out. I needed to take care of this rogue first. With that t

  • The Alpha & His Eccentric Luna    Chapter 14

Seraphine *** I ran down the dirt track as fast as my feet carried me, stumbling along the way but never stopping. Not even once did I turn around to see if one of the foul smelling beasts were trailing me. There was only one thought clouding my senses; I had to find my way to the town and alert Alex about the rogue attack. It was only now that I was hoping to be like the rest. If only I was a normal wolf, I would have been of some help to Alaris. Instead of running away to save my own neck, I could have fought alongside him and made sure that none of those rogues made it to the town. I was lost in my own thoughts when my ears caught on something in the running wind. It was the sound of leaves getting crushed under pressure. My sprint slowed down to a slow jog as I tried to figure out the direction it was coming from. My eyes wandered around my surroundings. From the foliage dancing to the sweet melody of the chilly breeze to the soft dirt under my joggers, I found nothing out

Seraphine *** I tried to move out of its grip but even the slightest movement was hurting. The monster's grip on my shoulder was unmoving. I used my other hand to feel the ground, hoping to find a stone of sorts or a broken branch I could to pry him off of me. Just as my fingers felt something cold within their reach, I heard another growl coming from a short distance. My eyes roamed around to locate the source as I felt my time coming. It was one thing to get out of one rogue's grip and try to outrun it. I might have succeeded in saving my life from one, but two? It was an impossible feat for someone like me. I was nothing but a mere human with no strength of her own. The foul smelling beast pushed its snout closer to my face as it growled against my ear. It was calling dibs on me, or so I guessed. The first bite belonged to him. And when he would be done filling his belly with my fatless, lean meat, the other one was allowed to finish what was left of me. Another growl resonat

Alaris *** "Hello, Marcus…." I watched her through the eyes of my beast. The way her eyes flickered across mine might have someone believing that she was scared of my wolf. But that was far from the truth. The trust that swirled in those stormy gray orbs of hers for Marcus was too obvious even for me to ignore. She knew that no harm would come to her as long as he was present there. I hoped that she held the same thoughts when it came to me. As much as I might find her annoying, I would never let her get harmed in any way. She was our little one after all. As much as I found the idea frustrating, I had come to terms with it. Sera was someone Marcus was too fond of to let go. She might not be our moon blessed, but she was now a part of our lives; she was someone I wouldn't mind having around. "I wish I could understand you." I stared down at her and realized that she was referring to the low whines Marcus was creating. It was his attempt at conversing with her. He nudged the

Seraphine *** [Back at the packhouse.] "Is he going to be alright?" I looked over my shoulder only to find Alex leaning against the couch with his head thrown back. An ice pack was in his hands, pressed to his right temple. "He's Alaris. Of course, he's gonna be fine." His casualness about the entire situation was starting to get to me. How could this man sit here—unbothered—when Alaris was out there fighting with a bunch of rogue wolves. Wasn't he the beta of this pack? The last time I checked, he was. And he needed to start acting like one for sure. "B-but why are you sitting here when he's out there taking care of the situation by himself?" To someone like him, it might seem as if I was overreacting to the entire situation, but to me, my worries weren't for nothing. The last time I saw the man was when he saved me from one of those unhinged monsters. And since then, there haven't been any updates on him. That was given that I arrived at the packhouse almost half an hour ag

Seraphine***I have been pacing across my room since I returned. I wanted to run away from all of it. My family. My new life. The pack and the wolves. And… Alaris. The last one was most likely the only one that had me going against my flight response. I wanted to stay and fight against whoever it was after me. It was one of the reasons why I wanted an escape from my life. Why would someone come after? What did they want from me? Why go to such lengths of sending a bunch of rogues into another pack's borders just to get me—someone who didn't even have her own wolf? There were too many questions and no answers to any of them. 'How are you holding up?' A voice pulled me out of my reverie, and had me replying to myself as I was too lost to figure out the source of it. "Thanks for asking, Mom. I am doing good." I turned halfway around to look over my shoulder to find the door to my room shut. There was no one standing in the doorway either, or on the other side. "What the heck?" I mu

Seraphine***After roaming along rows after rows of tall wooden shelves, each of which was stacked with books of all kinds, I found myself yawning. Though I could easily pass for a nerd back in college, it wasn't as exciting to go through a big, thick history book as it was studying science. Even when it was about some mythical creatures, history had always bored me. "I guess this should be enough for today." I flipped to the next page and slid in a threaded bookmark in between the pages to keep a track on where I ended. I knew I needed to continue with my research if I were to do anything about my wolf. Yes, Alaris was of great help, but there were certain things which were out of his control. And unless I had a better understanding of them, all of our efforts would be for nothing. I pushed myself up from the wooden chair and groaned internally as I stretched my upper body. One thing was for sure, the pack could do with better—and more comfortable—chairs in the library. How could

Seraphine***"Go on, have a look."As if it was only his words I was waiting for, I sprinted across the room's length, only bringing my steps to a halt once I was on the other side of the desk. "How can you keep something like this hidden?" I asked, more to myself, as I gazed through the tinted glass wall. "Curtains." His words rang beside my ear, making me jump in the spot as his warm breath brushed against my ear. When did he get so close to me?"Y-yes. Of course." I stammered through my response, instinctively taking a step to the side. Alaris came to stand next to me, hands behind his back, as he continued to stare straight ahead at the scenic view. It was close to dusk. The orange and red hues were painting the evening sky in a tale of their own woes. One could see the soft rustling of the leaves from the distance as they danced to the chilly evening breeze. "How can you keep it hidden?" I muttered under my breath as I held onto my elbows. "And, please, don't say curtains th

Alaris *** "Alpha?" I was inside my office, too lost in my own thoughts, pacing across the room's length as I thought about yesterday's events. The same question had been bugging me since then. Why were the rogues after Sera? "Alpha?" I heard the same voice once again and I looked over my shoulder to see one of the omega females standing a few feet away from me. She bowed her head slightly to greet me. "What is it?" I inquired about the matter since she was quite nervous. I could smell it rolling off of her in waves. "I am the female Beta Alexander appointed to look after Miss Seraphine as per your orders." She spoke as wiped her hands clean off the sides of her skirt. "Yes, Emma. Alex informed me about the matter." I gave her a nod in affirmation. "Is that all you came here for?" I could see it in her eyes that there was more to the story. She didn't have to report to me herself unless she was asked to. "There's one more thing that I needed to report to you." Emma spo
