Chapter 5

"What do you mean all the money is gone?" Don asks Gary once he reaches his office.

"Boss, I can't take it back!" Gary said in his trembling voice.

"Don't worry about it. I'll handle it."

Gary looks at Don, for the first time making eye contact but immediately looks away too. He did not expect to hear that answer. Is the boss serious?

"Boss?"

"I said I'll take care of it. You can go."

Gary hesitantly walk towards the door, slowly. He is not sure what the boss is planning to do. But he is relieved he gets to keep his fingers intact.

Don looks at the documents Gary left at his desk. It's a photo of that woman, where she lives, and some information about her.

"What a coincidence? Or is it? Maybe this is God leading me to my mate, finally?"

He smiles. After all these years he have a reason to smile again. Something that he forgot to do after his mate Athena died.

When the pack found out the young Alpha's mate is from the pack's tribal enemy, eversince time immemorial, the entire pack is not happy. His father convinced Adam to not pursue this wolf as it's a tabboo for them to be mated or to make friends with that enemy tribe.

The taboo started when the daughter of an Alpha from the Fullmoon pack mated with the Alpha of the Sun pack. The Sun pack's Alpha is said to be a bad wolf with a very bad temper. But the Alpha's daughter from the Fullmoon pack did not see those as red flags. She followed her heart which lead to her untimely death. From that day on, the Fullmoon pack has sworn to avenge her death.

That day has come when the young Alpha Adam bring home a beautiful wolf from the Sun pack. Right away the entire pack distinguished her pack based on her tribal mark. Not only did the pack sneer to the fact that the young Alpha's mate is a lowly omega, they hated her because of the pack she belongs to.

Alpha Sebastian convinced his son Alpha Adam to let Athena escape as he heard some members of the pack are having a secret meeting on what to do with Alpha Adam's mate. But Adam stood his ground, his mate is not leaving. He thought he can protect his mate from the angry members of the pack, he is an Alpha blood after all. But in the morning when he wake up, he found Athena is gone. He found her near the boundary, she died escaping the Fullmoon pack. It's only a meters away before she reach her pack's territory, if only they just let her go.

The memory of the past makes the Don teary eyed again. He maybe this tough big boss being feared to but behind closed doors he is just as weak as humans with a broken soul. And that's the reason why he choose to live among humans. He heard about how humans love other humans. And that's what pushed him to leave his entire pack, including his family pack. He wants to love without judgements if opportunity allows. And looks like it just did when fate lead him to his mate. The more he should stay away from his pack now, or they might kill his mate again. They easily killed his wolf mate, what more can they easily do to his human mate?

Sarah wakes up and she have a weird feeling that someone is watching her. But who would be watching her in her sleep? She gets up in bed ignoring that weird feeling, she have to rush now or Mr. Ting will be very pissed off. She works in a grocery store owned by Mr. Ting.

Right after she arrives at the shop, she immediately stocked the empty shelves before it's time for the shop to open.

It's 9 in the morning. She have to open the grocery store now. She pulled the door up, unlike the previous times, it's effortlessly done this time. Then she noticed a man beside her, he helped her pull the door up.

"Hi there! I am just hoping to grab a cup of coffee before everyone else rushes in." The man said smiling.

Sarah was caught off guard but she managed to smile. "Oh, thank you. You're the first customer today."

"I noticed." The man said flashing his perfect teeth. "I'm Simon by the way."

"Nice to meet you Simon."

"My pleasure. And you are?"

Sarah pointed at her name tag. Simon laughs.

"Of course.. Of course. Sarah, what a beautiful name."

Sarah blushed, she don't get complimented very often. Simon noticed that.

"Thank you for helping me pull the door up. I feel like breaking my back everytime."

"I noticed it's a heavy door compared to some shop doors."

"Compared to some shop doors?" Sarah repeated after Simon.

"Ah, yes, I worked previously in shops similar to this. I must say this door is extra heavy." Simon said then shrugs.

"Anyway welcome to my shop, please grab your coffee before other customers rush in."

"Oh yes. Actually.. I want to have a cup noodles too or anything. . I did not have my breakfast yet. Hope you don't mind me hanging out a bit here. I promise to go once the shop is busy."

"You're my customer, get whatever you want so long as you pay." Sarah said laughing before she stationed herself in the cashier.

The shop she works offer hot beverages too and hot water for cup noodles. This shop is located in a busy district so hot beverages to go is in demand as it is cheaper to buy here than in cafés. People like Simon are their customers.

"So what shop have you worked before?" Sarah asks Simon after he adds hot water to his cup noodles. He let it rest now while he drinks his hot coffee.

"The bigger shop. But I am side hustling as a sales agent now. Next time I drop by, I might be wearing ties so don't be surprised."

"Wow. Will look forward to that."

"Pray for me, will you? I really want to succeed in this new job. I can't afford the rents going up."

"I wish you all the best Simon." Sarah replied.

Other customers rush in so Sarah got busy in the cashier. Later when she looks in the direction of Simon, he's gone.

Sarah sighed. She can't wait for this day to be over as she still needs to go see her mom in the hospital. She feels nervous again, not for the health of her mother this time. She's scared the money she has withdrawn to pay the hospital bills might be looked for by the sender. How will she ever pay that amount?
