"You wanted to see me, sir?"
"Yes. Come on in, Lia," Alpha Maxwell says. He gestures to a more comfortable sitting area in his office. She sits on the sofa he gestured to. He sits in the adjacent chair.
"My wife tells me that you are worried about Tyler," he says.
She nods. "His temper, he…I don't know if it's just because I'm paranoid now and I pick up on these things, but I've noticed…" She could feel her doubts and fears creep in. The Alpha picks up on the change in her scent.
"It's alright," he assures her. "Whatever you say here stays between us unless you say otherwise. I have promised you your safety and this does not change anything."
"Thanks," she says. "He just seems angrier than before."&n
"Why didn't you tell me you rejected your mate?" Lia asks Tyler when she finds him and Sam just outside the pack house. Sam gives him an odd look that Tyler waves off before sending Sam off."You were dealing with your own mate issues," Tyler tells her. "You didn't need mine. Would it have changed anything?""I…I don't know," she admits."You still have to go back there," he tells her."I know, James thinks it's best to get it over with.""Want me to go with you? I mean I've been through it myself. I know what to expect.""No, this is something I need to do on my own," she insists."I can respect that, th
They met up at the edge of the woods, she had already shifted and Nova was itching to run. Tyler grins. "Go on, we'll be right behind you." He shifts as Nova takes off with a huff. Lia and Nova both look back to see the large black wolf they knew was Valens behind them. They had seen him a few times when they had worked with their wolves in training. Lia had been shocked with how large and powerful he had been. Nova had reminded her that he was an alpha from a very powerful and respected line. Seeing him again when it was just them was wonderful. Nova keeps a pace that allows him to keep up. The two end up playing. Chasing each other.Back at the Valor Moon Pack house James' phone rings. "Yes, Oliver?" His tone filled with annoyance."Is Dahlia with you?" Oliver asks and Gunner's hackles raise in James' mind.
"Nova!" Lia shouts and Nova takes off full sprint towards where she had heard James. Last time Axel had nearly killed her godfather. She wasn't going to let him finish the job. Valens was doing his best to keep up. Nova smells their no good mate before she sees him and is just able to dodge the attack before it happens. She ducks to the side and doubles back to Valens as the big grey wolf turns on them. Nova growls and bares her teeth before howling to let her brother and James know where they were. Gunnar would find them."He found us," she tells Nash and James through a mind link."Stay with Tyler and let Nova do whatever she needs to," James tells her. "We are almost there."Valens nudges Nova back and puts him and Tyler between Nova and Axel. Valens growls again. Teeth bared and ready to fight. Axel takes
Once that was done Valens gave control over to Tyler and he shifted back. He pulled on a pair of shorts a warrior gave him. He ignores the shirt and takes a second bundle of fabric and goes over to Nova. He glares at George as he passes. Before looking back at Nova when she nuzzles his face. George growls but they don't even look at him. Tyler chuckles as Nova nudges him. He tucks the clothing under his arm and runs his fingers through the soft fur of her mane."Follow me," he say quietly. He led Nova out of the eyeline of the group. He held the change of clothes out for and closes his eyes. Dahlia shifted and put on the wrap dress he had given her. She looked at the jacket that was with it. The Luna must have worried she would be uncomfortable around so many men. She sets the jacket aside and hugs Tyler."Thank you," she is careful of the slowly he
Jael and Briar rush to her when they reach the pack house. "Let me see you, are you okay?" Briar frantically looks her over. Doing the same with Nash when she is satisfied Lia is okay. Nash tries to wave her off but Briar isn't having it and with a sigh he lets her check. He missed his sister and if this made her feel better. He'd do it."I believe these are yours." Lia looks over to see Beckett holding out her locker and bracelet. Lia gasps."You found them?""Of course, James' wolf would have tracked your scent through the wood if Jael hadn't stopped him. Found them very quickly. Quite paternal that wolf.""That's Gunnar for you." She smiles, but it falls as he carefully hands her the broken remains of her jewelry.
"Petal," James says. "Come with me for a minute.""Okay," she says. She looks at Tyler. He just nods and mouths for her to go on.James leads her to a bench not far from the entryway stairs. "What's going to happen now? Katie said the arrangements are already made."James nods. "They are. No more time is to be wasted. George is being sent back home.""Nova said they'd sweep it under the rug," Lia says."Oh no, he is going to face justice for what he has done to you, both Lunas insist. You heard Alpha Maxwell back there. The only reason he isn't being dealt with here is Oliver has agreed his children have gone too far and risked the safety of both packs this time. And he will abide by any decision the alphas decide. Oliv
Lia thanks him and moves closer, but not too close to where Beta Oliver stands with his cuffed children."I'm sorry, Dahlia. I should have seen you were struggling when you were in my home," Oliver says. "I hope someday you can forgive that failing on my part." She gives a tight-lipped nod and he accepts that as a positive step forward. She turns to face George."Don't do this," George says. "You belong to me.""She belongs to no one," Tyler says. "She is her own person. A real mate would respect that.""I am her mate!" George shouts.James goes to interject for everyone's safety but Lia stops him."Not anymore," she states. "I, Dahlia Stuart of the Haven River Pack, reject
As that is happening, the Alpha of the Valor Moon Pack approaches the remaining members of the Haven Moon Pack, Alpha Lars, Beta Oliver who is holding his son, his daughter is with Gamma Beckett, and a few Warriors."I am so sorry for what has happened," Alpha Lars tells him. "We never expected things to get this out of hand. We were hoping to handle this internally, but we are grateful for your assistance. I hope this will not damage future relations between our packs and the alliance."Maxwell nods. "Alpha Lars, we appreciate your haste and handling of this particular situation," Alpha Maxwell starts, sending an unamused look at the beta and his son. "I know this cannot have been an easy situation to handle considering it involved the families of both your Beta and Delta." He looks back towards his packhouse where his family is now safe inside. "I don't
