Eighteen years ago

The storm was roaring as Celeste appeared at our door, a bundle in her arms.

"They're hunting me," she said, soaked to the bone and frightened. "The Shadow Council knows about the prophecy."

I pulled her inside while Seraphina took the baby. The child was tiny, just days old, with a small scar shaped like a crescent moon on her shoulder.

"Is this...?" I started to ask.

"My daughter," Celeste stated. "The child of the prophecy."

The baby opened her eyes, and I gasped. Even as a baby, her eyes held power—shifting between deep brown and bright gold.

"Half witch, half wolf," Seraphina whispered in awe.

Celeste nodded sadly. "The first of her kind. The one who can either unite our worlds or destroy them both."

"What do you want us to do?" I asked, already knowing the answer.

"Raise her as your own," Celeste begged. "Hide her true nature. Keep her safe until she's old enough to fulfill her destiny."

"The Shadow Council will never stop looking for her," I

  • The Accused Mate   The Hunter's Game

Dorian's POV The silver bullet tore through my shoulder as I dove behind the fallen tree. Pain burst across my chest, but I didn't have time to feel it. Three Shadow Council hunters were closing in, and I needed that phone. "He's down!" one yelled. "Circle left!" I pulled the bullet out with my claws, biting back a scream. Silver burned like fire, but the cut would heal—eventually. What mattered now was the dead hunter's phone lying ten feet away in the moonlight. On it was the proof I'd been hunting for months. With a growl, I changed my arm to wolf form and lunged from cover. My claws cut across the nearest hunter's throat before he could fire again. The second hunter's gun clicked empty. I didn't give him time to reload, knocking him to the forest floor. "Where is she?" I hissed, pinning him down. "I don't know what you're talking about," he choked out. I pressed my claws into his neck. "Amara Kings. The witch-wolf. Where?" Fear filled his eyes. "The old witch's

Dorian's POV A howl cut through the night, jerking me from my thoughts. The warning from my scouts—movement in the forest. I rushed outside, changing to wolf form as I ran. My black fur blended with the darkness as I ran toward the sound. My lead tracker, Darius, met me halfway. "Alpha," he panted. "Luther's hunters—they found her trail. They're heading to the cabin now." My heart raced. If Luther got to Amara first, everything would be lost. "How many?" I growled. "Ten, maybe more." "Get everyone. NOW!" I didn't wait for his answer, already running toward the eastern border. If I cut across the river, I might beat them there. Might reach Amara before Luther's men did. The trees blurred around me as I pushed my wolf body to its limits. Branches whipped my face, but I felt nothing except the burning need to reach her first. Eva's face filled my mind. Her smile. Her laugh. The way she'd looked at me like I was her whole world. "Hold on," I thought to her. "Just a

How could I make him understand? I'd never meant to fall in love with him. Never meant to stay so long in this world of dogs and men. But I had, and now everyone I loved would pay the price. "I'm going to her," I said. "I'm the only one who can help her now." "Then I'm coming with you," Charles declared. I shook my head. "No. Luther's hunters are watching you. If you leave, they'll follow." "Luther." Charles spat the name like poison. "I knew he couldn't be trusted. But why? Why would he betray us after all these years?" "Because he knows what Amara can do. What she will become once the binding breaks completely." Through the window, I could see movement in the trees surrounding our house. Luther's men were getting closer. "Charles," I said, taking his hand. "There's something I never told you. About the night Celeste brought Amara to us." His fingers tightened around mine. "What?" "She wasn't running from the Shadow Council. She was running from something worse." I

  • The Accused Mate   The Awakening

Amara's POV I woke up screaming, my body on fire. Golden light burst from my skin, shooting out like lightning. The wooden walls of the shack cracked around me as I thrashed on the floor, unable to control what was happening. "Hold her down!" someone yelled. Elias. His hands pressed against my shoulders, but he jerked back when the light burned him. "Don't touch me!" I screamed, not out of anger but fear. I didn't want to hurt him. The thought shocked me after everything he'd done. Another wave of pain crashed through me. My bones changed, but not into wolf form—into something else. Something new. The power that had been locked inside me for eighteen years broke free like a dam breaking. "Amara, fight it!" Elias begged. "The binding is breaking too fast!" Through tear-filled eyes, I saw Celeste furiously drawing symbols around me. "I can't slow it," she cried. "Her power is too strong!" I arched my back as another rush hit me. Suddenly, my mind filled with images—m

Amara's POVCharles grabbed my arm. "Amara, wait. There's something you need to know. Something important." He held out a small bottle filled with silvery-blue liquid. "Your mother wanted you to have this. She said it would save you." I took the vial, feeling weird power humming within it. "Save me from what?" "From the prophecy," Celeste answered. "From your destiny." "What destiny?" "To either unite the supernatural world or destroy it completely," she said. "The choice will be yours alone." I looked at the vial, then back at the fight outside. At my hurt mother. At Elias, watching me with those eyes that now seemed so familiar. "And this will change that?" I asked, holding up the bottle. "It will bind your powers again," Charles explained. "Make you just a wolf. No memories of your true nature. No destiny." "No me," I realized. "Just the Amara you raised. The one who never knew the truth." He didn't deny it. The marks on my skin glowed brighter as my anger rose.

Five years ago, Viktor had approached me after Elias became Alpha instead of me."You deserve to lead," Viktor had whispered. "Not my weak nephew. Help me, and I'll make sure you get what's rightfully yours."I'd been so angry, so jealous. Elias had everything—the title, the respect, the power. It should have been mine.So when Viktor told me about the prophecy, about a girl who could destroy or join the packs, I listened. When he told me about a plan to make sure she never reached her potential, I helped.I was there the night Kamla cast the spell to trick Elias. I held her hand as she wept, knowing the magic would ultimately kill her."Do you love him that much?" I had asked her."No," she'd admitted. "But I hate my sister more."I remembered how we found the witch, Celeste, who gave Kamla the illegal spell. How we convinced her that Elias was her true mate. How we planned every aspect of Amara's downfall. But we never planned for Amara's power to rise. We never planned for Elias to

Ingrid Devereaux's POVI smashed the crystal glass against the wall, watching it break into a thousand pieces. My hands shook with rage."What do you mean Elias is gone?" I asked, glaring at the messenger who cowered by the door."He left with the girl, Luna Devereaux," the young wolf stammered. "After the light in the forest. Everyone saw it—like the sun itself had fallen to earth."My heart dropped to my stomach. Amara had changed. The prophecy was coming true despite everything I'd done to avoid it."Get out," I snapped. When the servant didn't move fast enough, I roared, "NOW!"The door slammed behind him. I closed my eyes, trying to slow my racing thoughts. My boy. My only child. He was with her—the monster I'd spent eighteen years trying to keep him away from.I grabbed my phone, calling the one person who might understand."It's happened," I said when she answered. "Amara has awakened."Celeste's voice was strained. "I know. I was there.""And you let it happen?" I hissed."I h

Ingrid Devereaux's POVI smiled thinly. "Because I have something they need."I opened a small wooden box on the table. Inside lay a silver feather—identical to the one Amara had found where her mother apparently died."A trap," Alpha Reiner realized."Call it an invitation," I said. "When Seraphina feels this feather's magic activate, she'll come. And Amara will follow.""You're gambling with all our lives," Alpha Leona threatened."I'm saving them," I amended. "Starting with my son's."After the Council members left, I stood by the window, watching the sun set over the area my husband had built—the legacy meant for my son.The door opened behind me. "The preparations are complete," Kaya said. "The perimeter is secured.""Good. No one enters or leaves without my permission.""And if Elias returns willingly?" she asked softly.I turned to face her, steel in my voice. "Lock him in the holding cells. For his own protection.""Yes, Luna." She paused. "There's something else. A message, f

  • The Accused Mate   The Mourning Daughter

POV: Amara KingsI screamed as my father's body went limp in my arms. The world around me blurred with tears."Dad! Dad, please!" I shook him, but his eyes stared blankly at the night sky. "Come back!"Viktor's blade had done its work. My father—the man who had hidden me away for eighteen years, who I'd both hated and loved—was gone."Amara," Elias said softly, putting a hand on my shoulder. "He's gone."I shrugged him off, anger bubbling inside me. "Don't touch me."The Mother stood on the shore now, looking exactly like me except for those terrible black eyes. She held the black stone in her hand, smiling as if my father's death meant nothing."He was weak," she said. "Just a vessel, like your false mother.""Shut up!" I yelled, the blue markings on my skin flaring brighter. "He was my father!""One of your fathers," she corrected. "The human one."Luther approached slowly, his face a mix of fear and wonder. "The prophecy is f

  • The Accused Mate   The Mother's Ritual

POV: Luna Seraphina WintersPain shot through my chest like a lightning bolt. I dropped the bowl I was holding, and it broke on the stone floor of my secret room. I knew instantly what it meant."Charles," I gasped, grabbing at my heart. "No!"Our mate bond, a link that had lasted for over twenty years, snapped like a thread cut by invisible scissors. The void that followed was so painful I couldn't breathe. He was gone. My mate was dead.I had no time to cry. If Charles was dead, it meant he had found Amara. It meant the Mother had returned. And it meant I had to act now.I stumbled to my feet, still fighting through the pain of the broken tie. With shaky hands, I pulled the loose stone from the wall and took out the small wooden box I'd hidden there eighteen years ago.Inside was a bottle of dark liquid – blood mixed with something else, something that shimmered even in the dim light. Beside it sat a black knife with strange symbols cut i

  • The Accused Mate   The Father's Last Stand

POV: Alpha Charles WintersI crashed through the trees, my heart beating in my chest. The smell of blood and magic filled the air. She was close. After eighteen years of keeping her secret, of trying to protect her from this very moment, I was too late."Amara!" I yelled, following the blue glow that lit up the night sky like a beacon. My daughter was floating above Silver Lake, ringed by that strange blue fire. The sight made my throat tighten. She looked so much like her mother—not Seraphina, who raised her, but her real mother. The one who came from this very lake eighteen years ago.A werewolf flew through the air, smashing into a tree beside me. It was Dorian Graves, the Alpha who had been hunting my daughter. He snarled, blood dripping from his mouth, and flung himself back toward the lake.I shifted instantly, bones popping as my wolf form took over. I was older now, gray marking my once-black fur, but I was still an Alpha. Still her father.

  • The Accused Mate   The Witch's Vision

POV: Celeste MoreauMy scream echoed through the stone walls of my refuge as I fell to my knees. The vision hit me like a punch to the gut—blue fire everywhere, a girl floating in the air, and a woman with eyes as black as night rising from Silver Lake."Mistress!" My trainee Finn rushed to my side, his young face twisted with worry. "What is it? What did you see?"I couldn't speak. My whole body shook as the images burned themselves into my mind: Amara Kings, the girl I'd helped betray, surrounded by blue fire and facing a thing with her own face."It's happening," I whispered, holding the edge of my scrying bowl. The water inside still rippled with the aftershocks of my vision. "The Harbinger has awakened.""The Harbinger?" Finn's eyes widened. "But you said that was just a story to scare little witches."I shook my head, trying to stand. My legs felt like water. "I was wrong. I was wrong about everything."The candles around us flickered

  • The Accused Mate   The Convergence

Amara Kings' POV Blue fire shot from my hands, shocking even me. I was floating above everyone, power surging through my blood like lightning. Part of me wanted to scream, but another part—a bigger part—felt alive for the first time. "Amara!" Elias yelled from below. "Fight it! Come back to us!" I could barely hear him through the noise in my ears. The blue marks had spread across my entire body now, burning like ice against my skin. I was becoming something else. Something scary. And I liked it. "She can't hear you," Dorian said, picking himself up from where I had thrown him. Blood dripped from his mouth. "The Harbinger is taking over." I turned my gaze to him—the stranger who had attacked my family, who had planned to sacrifice me to bring back his dead mate. Anger flashed through me, hot and fierce. "I hear everything," I said, my voice echoing weirdly. "I see everything now." With a flick of my wrist, I pinned Dorian again

  • The Accused Mate   The Rogue Alpha

Alpha Dorian Graves' POV Blood dripped from my claws as I pulled them from the scout's chest. The man had begged for pity, but I had none left to give. Not after losing Leila. "He talked," said Kira, my Beta, wiping her knife clean. "They're hiding in caves near the eastern shore of Silver Lake." Finally. After weeks of looking, I had found Amara Kings. The girl who could bring my mate back from death. "How many with her?" I asked, stepping over the body. "At least six. Her parents, the Artemis Alpha, a healer, and someone our scout didn't recognize." I nodded to the twelve warriors waiting quietly behind us. They were all that left of my once-mighty pack, each personally trained by me. Each with their own reason to hate the Artemis Pack. "Remember," I told them, "we need the girl alive and unharmed. Kill the others if you must, but Amara Kings is mine." We moved through the forest like shadows, the smell of rain masking our appro

  • The Accused Mate   The Healer's Discovery

Lyra Sinclair's POV I yanked my hand back from Amara's skin, the shock of energy burning my fingers. The sparkling blue marks on her arms pulsed brighter, like heartbeats beneath her skin. "What happened?" Amara asked, her wide eyes fixed on my face. I tried to calm my rushing heart. After years of looking for someone like her, the truth was both thrilling and terrifying. "Your markings," I whispered, "they're not just Starborn symbols. There's something else mixed in." We were hiding in a small cave near Silver Lake. Outside, rain pounded the ground as if trying to wash away our tracks. Elias and Charles stood guard at the door while Amara's mother slept fitfully nearby. I opened my worn leather bag and pulled out my grandmother's notebook. The pages were yellow with age, but the drawings inside fit what was happening on Amara's skin. "Look," I said, pointing to a sketch of entwined symbols. "These markings appeared on a girl two hundr

  • The Accused Mate   The Uncle's Return

Viktor Beaumont's POV The guard's neck snapped under my hands. I dropped his body quietly to the ground, wiping blood from my mouth. Five years in exile had made me fiercer, not weaker. I moved through the shadows of the Artemis Pack area. Once, I had ruled here. Now I was sneaking back like a thief. My nephew Elias had no idea I was coming. No idea that everything—Kamla's death, Amara's abuse, the attack on the cabin—was part of a bigger plan. A plan I had tried to stop years ago. "You shouldn't be here," a voice hissed from behind me. I spun around, claws extending. Marcus Hale, my nephew's Beta, stood with his hands raised. "Going to sound the alarm, Marcus?" I asked, ready to quiet him if needed. "If I wanted to, I would have already." His eyes darted around nervously. "You need to leave. Ingrid has tripled security since Elias left to find Amara." I smiled coldly. "Ingrid is exactly who I came to see." Marcus grabbed m

  • The Accused Mate   The Mate Bond

Amara Kings' POVI woke up gasping for air, my body burning from the inside out. The mate bond flared like flames in my chest, pulling me toward Elias even as he slept across the room."Easy," my mother whispered, pressing a cool cloth to my face. "The bond is strengthening. Fight through it."We'd taken shelter in an old cabin after fleeing from Luther. My father was still weak from his wounds. Elias had fallen into exhausted sleep. And I was burning alive with need for my mate."It hurts," I whispered, rolling into a ball. "Why now?""The Blood Moon approaches," Mom explained. "It amplifies everything—especially mate bonds."I forced myself to sit up, sweat dripping down my face. Across the room, Elias stirred in his sleep, reacting to my discomfort."I feel him," I said, putting a hand to my chest. "Not just emotions anymore. His thoughts. His dreams."Mom nodded. "That's rare, even for true mates. Your healing abilities are affectin
