When Doctor Poppy was on her way to Ben's place, her car was immediately intercepted by a group of masked men. She immediately stopped the car for a moment. Her heart skipped a beat when she saw them. Trembling hands gripped the steering wheel and her mind raced to find a way to get out of this situation.

"Get out," One of the masked men tapped the windshield with the butt of a gun.

Doctor Poppy gulped. Having no other choice, she slowly opened the car door and got out with her hands raised. She was very afraid of them. However, a woman suddenly appeared from another car. Doctor Poppy's eyes widened when she saw Sophia approaching her.

"Hi, Doctor Poppy. How are you? It's been a long time since we've seen each other," asked Sophia, pretending to be nice.

"What do you want? Are they your goons?" Doctor Poppy had expected it and saw the masked men.

"Doctor Poppy, you must be a smart woman. I don't want anything to happen to your sweet daughter. So, make sure you do not mention anything

She didn't want to look at Ben right now."Caroline ....""Don't touch me!" Caroline gave Ben some distance.Ben froze in place. Jolina was intrigued by Glenn at the gala. She wondered, what exactly made Glenn so different. Her curiosity grew about him. Sophia kept asking, even thinking that Jolina liked Ben."Or perhaps... do you actually like Ben?" Sophia scrutinized Jolina's expression."Ben? Oh, come on, Sophia." She placed her wine glass on the table, giving Sophia a bored look. "I did sleep with him that night at least, that's what Caroline thinks. But it was just part of the plan and I don't have the slightest feelings for him."Jolina sipped her wine slowly, her mind still revolving around Glenn. Glenn didn't seem like the type of man who would easily fall under her spell and that made Jolina even more curious.Jolina recalled her meeting with Glenn during the gala event. The man always seemed calm, unlike other men who were mesmerized by her in seconds. Glenn had a piercing gaze that seemed to read her mind, making her feel challenged."Do you like Glenn? Sophia walked through the corridors of her spacious house. She was just about to head to her room when her mother and father's voices were faintly heard from behind the slightly open door of their room. She was about to enter and greet them inside, but a conversation left her frozen in place."Are you sure Viktor didn't fail his mission?" Claudia's voice sounded sharp."I don't pay fools, darling," Alexander replied in a confident tone. "Ben must be removed. As long as he's around, he'll be a threat to us and Sophia.""Don't let Sophia know, Alex. She'll be furious if she finds out you're targeting the man she loves," her mother said again. "Especially since that accident didn't kill him."Sophia covered her mouth, holding back the emotions that were beginning to well up in her chest. So it was true, her father had sent Viktor to attack Ben, and Ben had been hospitalized and treated there. Her eyes heated up, anger and disappointment mixing. Sophia stopped the car right in front of Ben's gate. The lights in the yard were still on, indicating that someone was inside, but strangely, none of Ben's subordinates came out to open the gate. She pressed the horn once, but there was no reaction. She grabbed her cell phone and tried to call Ben - no luck. Feeling increasingly frustrated, Sophia got out of the car and walked to the front of the gate. She pressed the intercom roughly."Open the gate! I need to see Ben now!""Go home, Miss Morena." Andrew's voice came over the intercom."What? No! I have to talk to Ben. It's important, Andrew!""Mr. Charles is not home. You should go home." Sophia clenched her fists. She knew Andrew was loyal to Ben and if he said something, it came directly from Ben. She also couldn't accept the fact that Ben wasn't home at the moment. Maybe Andrew was lying."Then, where is he now?" Sophia demanded an answer from Andrew, her voice still sounding sharp."That's none of your business, Miss." Andrew r

After the meeting ended and the office was quiet, Ben felt something strange. Like there was a sharp gaze following his every move. He slowed his pace, scanning the surroundings, but there was no one around.Ben stood beside his Aston Martin, hands already clutching the keys. The basement of the parking lot was spacious and quiet. Just rows and rows of luxury cars. No sounds, no footsteps. But Ben knew his instincts were rarely wrong.Suddenly, however, a mysterious figure stood behind a concrete pillar. Ben was on alert. His hand was still clutching the keys. Without wasting time, he immediately got into the car and started the engine. His eyes did not leave the rearview mirror as he watched every corner of the parking lot. The car's engine hummed softly, ready to go at any moment. However, Ben was in no hurry to leave. Then, he took out the licensed pistol he always kept for situations like this. The figure behind the pole was still standing as if waiting for Ben. Neither rashly att

When the meeting was about to end and the participants were beginning to disperse from the room, Ben sat quietly while he organized papers on his table. But someone could be heard walking quickly in the direction of the back."What a great presentation you made earlier." Johan quipped at Ben while clapping his hands.Ben turned his head. Johan stood beside him, a faint smile gracing his face. A smile that showed envy of Ben's achievement."Thank you," Ben replied briefly, staying calm so as not to be provoked."You're good with words. Everyone seems to forget that technology like that can be misused." Johan leaned slightly towards Ben.Ben stood up, but Johan's hand blocked his steps. Their eyes met each other. Ben stared intently at Johan."Get your hands out of my face." Ben sternly straightened his blazer as if he were telling Johan to stay away."What if I don't want to?" Johan rebelled with a savage look on his face."If you don't want to, I'll break your hand," Ben said. Johan

Johan sat behind the wheel. His gaze was fixed on Benjamin Charles' house. He observed every movement in the yard, hoping to catch a glimpse of Caroline.'Go out, just for a while. His mind was thinking about Caroline. His heart was torn between longing and ulterior motives. Johan leaned forward, making sure the shadow in the window was Caroline. He recognized her silhouette, the slow movement as she closed the curtains. Johan smiled slightly. His gaze did not flicker. He knew sooner or later, his chance would come."She lives comfortably with that man. But not forever."His hand picked up an old photo from the dashboard drawer. A photo of Caroline smiling with him in the past. That smile was now just a memory. Yet, in his mind, it had to come true again. And if it couldn't be obtained with love, then he would seize it by other means. He put the photo back."We're not done yet, Caroline ...."Johan's car drove slowly down the street. He knew the house was heavily guarded. Hidden camer

"Are you having problems with your daughter again?" asked Viktor as he looked at Alexander.Alexander didn't answer right away. He poured himself a glass of red wine and sat down in his favorite leather chair. His eyes looked straight at Viktor who was now standing in the doorway of the office."She started acting out of control. Don't even listen to what I say anymore," Alex replies. "My daughter loves him very much.""Benjamin Charles?" Viktor squinted and his jaw hardened."What did he do to you in the past?" Alexander put down his wine glass, straightened up and felt intrigued by this discussion."Ben killed my brother. James!" Alexander held his breath. He had heard that name mentioned years ago in a case of violence against slaves. A case that was closed and silenced due to the involvement of many important parties."Your brother committed violence against a slave, right?" Alexander asked with a grin."James was beaten to death by Benjamin Charles. In front of the eyes of many

Sophia's cell phone rang on the living room table. Victoria's name was displayed on the screen. With a raised eyebrow, Sophia picked up the call."Hello, Aunt Victoria?" greeted Sophia on the phone."Sophia, I just wanted to let you know that Caroline finally divorced Johan."Sophia was silent for a moment. Her eyes widened and her body tensed. If Caroline and Johan were divorced, it meant that Caroline could belong to Ben completely."They're officially separated. Johan lost her."Sophia got up from the sofa. Then walked quickly towards the window while gripping the cell phone tighter. She couldn't let Ben go, the feelings were still there."Why are you saying it like that? This is not good news for me!" Sophia's voice rose."Why not?""If Caroline is free, Ben will get closer to her! You know, he'll always choose her over me!" Sophia patted her forehead and sighed softly."Sophia, your feelings for Ben are none of my business. What matters now is that my son is finally free of that

Arriving at Ben's house, Caroline got out of the car with slow steps. Andrew said nothing, just bowed and let her enter alone. Caroline opened the door. The warm air from inside the house immediately greeted her. Ben stood in the middle of the living room, still wearing a white shirt with the top open and the sleeves rolled up to the elbows. His face turned instantly at the sound of the door. Their eyes met. "Caroline ...." Ben's voice sounded soft and went straight to Caroline.Caroline did not answer. She just walked slowly towards Ben, without saying anything and hugged him tightly. Her hands grasped the back of Ben's shirt as if she was trying to reconcile herself.Ben hugged her tighter. He didn't ask any questions. He knew Caroline needed space, but also needed that hug to lean on."I gave him the divorce papers," Caroline said."You're amazing. Arriving at the hidden lake, Andrew parked the car under a large tree. The sound of gurgling water was serene. There was no one around. Just nature and peace."I'll stand guard nearby. Take as much time as you need, Miss." Andrew opened the door for Caroline and let her down.Caroline nodded and walked slowly towards the lake. She sat on a wooden bench overlooking the water. The breeze brushed her face, bringing the calm she needed right now.The fear had not completely gone. Johan's figure was still alive in her mind, like a shadow that refused to go away. Johan's words earlier said that she was unhappy with Ben. However, the situation was just the opposite.'Am I as unhappy as Johan said?' The thought came to Caroline.'Ben loves me. I know that. He gives me space and gives me security. But why does the shadow of the past still entangle me like an invisible chain? Do I still have feelings for Johan deep down?'Tears began to roll down her cheeks. She hated herself for still feeling

Caroline wanted to go out for a while and get some fresh air outside. However, she couldn't go alone because Ben had assigned Andrew to always stand guard beside Caroline."Mr. Charles has given me the job of looking after you, taking you wherever you need to go. Just mention it, Miss." Caroline smiled slightly, although in her heart there was a slight sense of uneasiness at being watched. But she knew this was not about mistrust. It was about protection. And Ben, as always, knew how important safety was to her."I'd like to go to the park near the square," Caroline said softly."Yes, Miss. I'll take you two blocks, then we'll walk from there so as not to be too conspicuous. The car is ready."Caroline just nodded slowly, then went back inside for a moment. She picked up a thin gray scarf and a small bag from the table by the door. When she came back out, Andrew was already standing there opening the car door for her.The drive to the park was silent, and cozy in the quiet of the mor

After a long night with Ben, Caroline is still in his arms. She had given him everything, not just her body, but also her heart and her trust. Behind the warmth of their touching skin, there was a meaningful silence."Do you regret it?" Ben whispered in Caroline's ear."No." Caroline shook her head softly."Then I'll make sure you never regret choosing me." Ben kissed her forehead warmly.Caroline smiled, her eyes still closed as she buried her face into Ben's warm chest. Her fingers traced Ben's skin as if memorizing every inch of the man's body that was now a place to lean on. Ben caressed Caroline's bare back with a gentle touch. They were silent for a moment, letting each other's heartbeats do the talking. The room was filled with traces of love that had not completely disappeared from the air.
