MADELYN.

Over the course of time, there's nothing I have been more scared of than my kids being taken away from me. They are the sole reason I'm alive, they are the only reason I'm still sane. They are my biggest motivation to never give up. My lovely little angels and the best gift I got after the incident with my father.

Whether or not I got them out of a one night fling with a stranger, it doesn't change the fact that I'm proud to have them.

When they came of age and begun to ask questions about their father, I started to fret. What if their father was a well-to-do man and they had to chose between me and him? What if they wanted nothing more to do with my broke, sorry ass?

It was more reason why I didn't want them to ever find out about their father. Whoever he was, I was sure a time would come when my kids had to pick between their dad and me.

As I wept in grandma's thighs, she stroked my hair slowly. Slow, gentle and affectionate strokes to ca

MADELYN. “Hi, you've reached Xavier, please leave a message.” I gave up after trying to reach him on phone for the tenth time today. Ever since he dropped me off at the graveyard, he's been distant. I have only bumped into him twice and he just exchanged pleasantries and moved briskly. On three occasions, he sped past my house without dropping by as usual, regardless of being in a haste or not. Now it dawned on me that he has been staying away because of my wedding to Jason. But why? He never told me how he felt about me. Okay, I think he did once but he waved it off the next minute. With him, you can't be sure what he's thinking or feeling? I don't even know this man too well, despite being friends for six years now. “ Ma'am. Excuse me ma'am.” I jolted back to life instantly. Phew, it was the cab man. I had totally forgotten I was in a cab home. Xavier was giving me a hard time and I just couldn't figure out what the problem could be. “ I'm

MADELYN. My jaw dropped and I clutched my chest. I needed to get a hold of myself first. But I found it impossible to take my eyes off him. I just had the worst nightmare of my life and the supposed villain in my dream, tends to be my friend who hasn't visited in a while now, and then I wake up terrified from my dream only to find him in my room. I'm still trying to connect the dots. But first thing first, how did he get in? “ Xavier, you scared the shit out of me. Besides, how did you get in?” His eyes creeped the fuck out of me and for some reason, I kept seeing his face flash in my head after that horrible nightmare. The room was silent as a graveyard and I heard the clock tick loudly. Turning my gaze in it's direction, I found out it wasn't even 8pm yet. All I had planned on doing was take a short nap and then freshen up and prepare dinner. But, I slept off. “ Xavier?” Okay, he's beginning to scare me. He hasn't answered

MADELYN. What in God's name was I doing? Gripping the ends of the shirt I had on, I literally froze to the spot with mouth half opened. Maybe the words froze too. I couldn't say a thing, no matter how hard I tried. “ What does it seem like she's doing, CEO Black?” Oh hell yeah, it's Xavier to the rescue. On any other day, I'd be glad he said a thing in my defense, but not today, and not to Jason either. “ Xavier, just shut the fuck up!” Great, at least I didn't go dumb. I can finally speak. I catch Xavier winking at Jason. Something doesn't feel right though. It's like they knew each other and from the way, Jason kept shooting him a death glare, I'm pretty sure they ain't the best of friends either. “ Madelyn, ask this man to leave. We were in the middle of something before he barged in like he owned the house!” “ Hey, uncle Xavier, that's my dad you are talking about!” Chloe points a finger at Xavier as she stood up for

Xavier.I was on my way home. I walked out of her life and got into my car. She's definitely going to pay for this. Maybe Cara was right, I have been the one taking things easy with her. For the nth time, hate circulated all over my entire system. I'm going to break her and Jason the worst way I know how to. My phone beeped. It was a text from Cara. I had texted her about what happened at Maddie's house. Cara: You see what I was talking about? You better do something about it quickly, Nicholas. I can't keep being engaged to you. I love someone else but I can't disobey my father. Get Madelyn and set me free from this bondage. With one hand on the wheel, I texted back. Me: You don't answer to your father alone. You answer to me too. Your father gave you to me as a little compensation for your incompetence. Besides, your sister is playing hard to get. Well, do your part and let's relieve you of having to stay engaged to a man you dislik

Madelyn. It's a bright new day. I slept off in my room after Jason and I sang the kids to sleep. It was fun to watch him sing lullabies as he pets them. By the time we were done, it was past 9pm and his throat was a little sore. He had been singing for the past one hour plus and there were six babies to sing to. If your lullaby wasn't convincing enough, that child would remain awake and you would be left with no choice but to fall asleep before he or she does. My girls did that a lot. “ You have been singing them to sleep for how long now?” I found it a weird question but I'm sure he had a reason for asking. “ Since they were born, why do you ask?” “ You've had to sing six babies to sleep for the past seven years? You've had to clothe them, feed them all and divide your attention between six children all alone? How do you cope with this and work?” It's hard to cope, I'm not gonna lie. Well, not like I had any choice. “ I don't know

CARA I stood up when I heard dad's footsteps. He wasn't in a good mood, neither was I. I was still recovering from the pain inflicted by Nicholas's belt, and yet another heartbreaking news that could subject me to a forever life game with frequent assaults. If I ever got married to a man like Nicholas, or better put, if I ever get married to this new person who's Nicholas but isn't Nicholas, I'm not sure I'd be able to crawl out alive. “ How did this happen, Cara? I thought you said you have been sending death threats to her? Why didn't she back out? Oh, she's proving to be stubborn like her mother?” “ Father, I did. I sent a lot of letters to her, even had people follow her and her kids just so she could be frightened a bit. But, it didn't yield any results, father.” Unsettled, he frowned deeply and shook his head. “ She's crossing the line, Cara. She's getting on my nerves.” “ Father, why can't you just abduct her and bring her here?

How do I relax when I know he's going to be in someone's arm by Friday? “ Mom is that all you have to say or do? Are you for real right now? I should calm down? What do you think Jason's father would say if he was still alive? Are you going to sit here and fold your arms?” “ What do you expect me to do, Nat? What do you expect me to do? Should I drag Jason over here and have you both married myself?” She rolled her eyes at me and went on scrolling through her phone about the news of Jason's wedding to that little girl. “ Yes! As a matter of fact, I expect you to march to his office and give him a thousand and one reasons why he can't marry anyone else asides me!” She sneered. “ Like it's that easy, hahaha. Jason. “ Sir, it's past 4 pm.” Zoe had taken it upon herself to come over to the office and chastise me for still being in the office working my fingers off. With my fingers moving at breakneck speed, I answered her. “ Okay? What's the issue? It's not yet time to close up, or is it?” The company closes at 5pm, but I hang around till 7pm. She steps into my office and stands like a mom ready to scold her son. Without taking those eyes off me, she proceeded to remind me. “ It's Thursday, sir.” I get it, Zoe. I get all the hint, but I'm not planning on making it easy for her. “ Okay? And so what? What does the day of the week gotta do with what time I close from work?” That simple statement earned me a death warrant. “ CEO Jason Black, I came here to remind you that the time is past 4pm and it's a bright, sunny Thursday. Shouldn't a groom-to-be be home early so he can get as much rest in anticipation of his big day tomor

Madelyn Cara had called me on her way to Nicholas's house. After what Jason had said yesterday, I came to the conclusion that something was wrong. Maybe he had found out who it was that Cara always met with, or perhaps he was going to change the plan. “ I'm sorry. Jason found out on his own, I never told him. He's right beside me, you can ask him yourself.” Cara bellowed, “ I believe you. I and Jason are not best of friends yet, I don't want to to talk to him. Anyways, I will keep you updated on whatever happens at Nicholas's house.” I had a bad feeling, but I couldn't just say it out. I wanted to ask her to come right to us. Why not end this game and seek protection from Jason? I'm sure my husband would do anything I ask of him, even if it included taking my sister in. “ Be safe, Cara. I don't feel good about this.” She tried to lighten my mood. “ Have you eaten? You will feel much better when you eat, Madelyn.” “ You will be pregnant someda

CARA { Warning: Content unsuitable for young readers. This novel is R-18.} Before I could make up my mind about what I was going to do, Nicholas jerked me against him and claimed my mouth in a fierce kiss that made me gasp, then tense. His tongue slipped between my lips, and without wanting to, I opened up for him, parted my lips, wrestled his tongue with mine. My hands found their way into his hair, tugging, raking, wanting him closer and at the same time wanting to shove him away. We always had good sex, but he always made it excruciating. It was either I get whipped during sex or after it. Slipping the vibrating phone into his pocket, he picked me up. My sister called a thousand times before she gave up. Nicholas's dark eyes watched me, something hungry and furious gleaming in their depth. “ I don't want to hurt you, Cara, but you brought this upon yourself. You could have patiently worked with me, after today you would have become a free woman. I would ha

NICHOLAS It's the D-Day. That was all that ran through my head as I took a cold shower. I was more happier for the birth of Madelyn than she was for herself. My outfits were laid out on the bed and though, it was still too early to set out, I went through the list of things we needed, to make sure that we didn't skip a thing. The main reason I was up early was to think about my next move. I knew something was off with Cara, but since I haven't caught her yet, I couldn't accuse her of snitching on me. I knew she was seeing someone yesterday, my men had said they saw her with a strange lady whose face they weren't able to make out. I decided to come see what she was up to, but I was late and those dumb fools said they didn't know when the strange lady left. They saw her make her way for the bathroom, but that was it. She never returned to her seat. She made use of the backdoor. How smart of her. I bumped into Cara on her way out. She wasn't surprised to see m

Madelyn It's my birthday, today. What is it people usually say? Something like the day God brought me into the world for y'all. My husband was up early. When I woke up, he wasn't beside me. Where could he have gone to this early in the morning? Jason was one patient lover. He took his time to explain everything to me yesterday. I can now agree that I'm naive. How come I never thought that plans could be changed? “ Who is it?” someone knocked on the door. I was still in my nighties and I still haven't left my bed. “ Grandma Lorelei asked that you come with me, ma'am Madelyn.” I quickly checked the mirror to see if I had drooled in my sleep. I straightened my hair and strolled out. “ Good morning, Laura.” The maid greeted me with a warm hug. Yes, I hug my maids. At first, they were uncomfortable with it. I knew just what my husband was capable of doing if he found out I was hugging our maids. But, they are humans too. They deserved to be loved and respe

JASON I hurried home and waited for Madelyn. I noticed she had been going out more and her movements were usually discreet. Whenever I asked where she was off to, she would smile and say she only needed to check out some restaurant in town. At first, it was understandable since she was always craving food. But today, I noticed how weirdly she dressed. It's like she was trying to disguise. Over the week she became a very huge fan of scarfs and sunshades and over sized clothing. I knew something wasn't right, so I decided to follow her today and find out where it was she always went, or who she always visited. I have never thought my wife would ever cheat on me, but that was the first thought that came to mind. She didn't have any friends in the city, so who was it that she always visited? I followed the cab she was in. She would never know it was me cause I went on bike, and I had my helmet on. Madelyn stopped at a restaurant just as she had told me,

  • That One Night, Mr. CEO; A Lifetime Game   A Day To The Big Day

CARA A day to the big Day. I was running around making last minute preparations. I have to meet with Madelyn today to inform her of all our plans. Or better still, I could call her. Nicholas asked that we all meet at our usual spot. Natasha called to let us know she would be late, her mom had fallen ill. All Nicholas could ever think of was how we should make this work and not about some sick person. “ Listen to me, I don't care if your mom is dying. I want you here on time, we can't have you mess up our big Day. Is this what would happen tomorrow? What? You call and inform us that your mom had a heart attack? See you by 12pm, Natasha.” That was harsh but it would be better to see this two turn against each other. They were the ones calling the shots in this game, and I needed a sort of division between them. “ Do you think she's trying to bail at the last minute? It might be that she doesn't want to go ahead with this, that's why she keeps bringing

JASON A week later after the incident with Black's body, it was my wife's birthday tomorrow. As excited as I was, I was frightened something might go wrong at the party. “ Birthday girl, you look stunning, wife.” Madelyn walked up to me, her smile widened with each passing second. “ It's been a long, long ride Jason. I'm glad we came this far.” “ Do you want a massage? Are you having any of those weird cravings of yours?” I didn't know being pregnant came with a lot of responsibilities. We were just three weeks gone, and I have never been more at loss for the perfect words to describe this whole new feeling. Was this what men went through at the hands of their pregnant wives? Wasn't it a bit too early for her to start having weird cravings? Madelyn never spared me at all. She would wake me up at past 2am and ask me to go get her some sea food. Who the fuck wants seafood at that time of the night? Was it the baby who was demanding for all this or was it my

I should look the same too considering I had just broken up with my boyfriend who I thought I'd be getting married to, but, no one felt much pain like Caspian. Grandma Lorelei warned me. Caspian had a raging temper. He had been in and out of a rehabilitation facility. She said he was just starting to make progress when Melissa came into his life. Over the last couple of months, his anger issues has been kept on check. But now, Black ruined it all. The furious, venomous dark creature made a mess of his room. We could all hear the noise coming from Caspian's room, but neither his mom or brother could dare trying to stop him. “ We should go check on him, grandma. NATASHA'S MOM I hurried home after I saw Grandma Lorelei leave. I was heartbroken. It's clear she was the only one that visited yesterday. Why couldn't anyone find a clue, a hint, anything at all? “ Argh!!” I yelled, almost ripping my lungs out as I threw something to the wall. I have been getting more fiery these days and I threw objects more frequently too. If I continue at this rate, I'd have broken almost every object in the house. “ Why have you been so angry the past few days, mom?” My daughter asked from the dinning table. I didn't even notice she was there all throughout. It was just 8am. She was not yet dressed, so I guess she's taking the day off. I had a quick flashback about how last night ended and I felt nothing but guilt for the way I treated her. It was not the best thing to do. I know that too well but I couldn't keep it in no more. She needed to hear a few unkind words, maybe it might help faster. She was too self-centered, and cared abou
