The next day, I was still peacefully sleeping when I heard a voice in my head.
"Wake up..."
"Five more minutes, Mom," I mumble and bury my face in the pillows.
"Get up, Hazel,"
"I'm not Hazel, let me sleep," I swat away the hand shaking my shoulder.
"Get up right now or I'm going to throw a bucket of water at you!" An angry voice command.
My eyes snap open and the first thing they focus on is two orbs of deep, dark blue staring at me.
A scream escapes my mouth and instinctively my hands go up but Sebastian catches my wrist in his hand before my palm could meet his face.
"Have you..." he said slowly while his jaw clenched tight. "..lost your mind?"
"You startled me!" I say as he drops my wrists and steps back.
Sebastian straightens and folds his arms behind his back, looking down at me with supreme disappointment.
"So, why the hell did you wake me up?" I asked, stretching my arms over my head.
"We're going for a run..."
My eyes are go-round with surprise. "We?!"
He nodded and explained, "We, which means you and I. Hurry up, we've wasted enough time already." His face was serious.
"B-But... you're a Lycan Alpha," I mentioned. "You're going to complete around the plant before I can say, breakfast!"
"I'm a Lycan Alpha, am I?" He said the reason for me to nod. "Well? You forgot to mention that I'm your Alpha and that's an order. Get up!"
Sebastian goes out of the room and I fall back on the mattress with a groan of frustration. After a quick shower, I don't bother drying my hair and put it in a ponytail before rushing out of my room into Sebastian's.
We go out of the mansion and instantly, a cold shudder passes through me. The sun is barely up, it might burn my skin.
"We will take three rounds of the ten miles surrounding the mansion," he pointed out. "It should take about twenty minutes."
"Fine, let's shift," I said.
Sebastian turns to me and raises an eyebrow. "Who said we will shift?" He asked.
"Ten miles, three times in twenty minutes without shifting?" I stared at him with wide eyes. I don't believe him! He must be crazy!
"That's impossible! I mean, yeah? I'm a werewolf with supernatural speed, but that doesn't mean, I'm a machine! And at six in the morning? Really? Without having breakfast, you must be kidding me! I'm telling you, it's madness—"
And then I feel suddenly my mouth movement is restricted due to something warm pressing again my lips.
"Shut up," Sebastian's warm breath hits my face, his finger still pressed to my lips. "Who am I?" Suddenly, he asked. His voice is deep.
"Alpha Sebastian Walts?" I replied, moving my lips with difficulty, the man has strong fingers. I'm telling you ...
"And as your Alpha, I decided what we're going to do," his voice hushed by silence.
"Understood?"
I whispered, "Yes, Alpha..."
"What are we going to do?" His dark, deep blue eyes bore into my own, I can feel the heat radiation from him.
"Run without shifting," I responded.
He starts at me for a moment, with the haughty superiority and authority of an Alpha male.
"Good."
"One question, sir?" I asked then he nodded. "Why are we whispering?"
His finger dropped from my mouth, face slack for one moment. I grin at him, and he crawls.
"Let's go to work," he said.
Sooner as we started, I already feels the dizziness in my head. Being tired from running for a while now.
"Well... my mother that... I-It was me who... ate the chocolate ice cream in the nights," I huffed as I crawl after Sebastian.
"... and I want... to be buried away... from this God-forsaken pack..."
"Hazel, get up." Sebastian crosses his arms across his well-built chest and looks down at my sweaty state.
For the record? I'm not crawling. I'm just walking very slowly to save my strength.
"I can't," I huffed out.
Sebastian stares at me for a moment and then turns towards the mansion that seems to be tiny from here.
"Where are you going?" I call after him.
He turns around and gave me a passive look. "I have no time to waste on pathetic little Omegas," he replied seriously.
Anger surges through me like a high tide, crashing away my tiredness. Gritting my teeth, I strengthen myself and jog over to him only to pass him and go towards the mansion.
"What are you waiting for, Sir?" I called back. "We need to go back!"
Finally, with award-worthy effort, I reach my room or just Sebastian's room and collapse on the bed. Sebastian walks in, as fresh as a cucumber and as cool as a peppermint. He spares me a glance before going to the closet, not bothered in the least that I'm on his bed.
"I have a question, Sir," I said to him.
"You seem to have a lot of those," he replied.
I didn't bother and asked him, "Why didn't you shift?"
I see the muscles in his back tighten just slightly, his posture becomes stiff. I notice that change in the room's atmosphere.
Maybe that wasn't a good question...
"That is not your problem," he said, withheld anger clear in his voice. Anger issue alert!
I swallowed inaudibly, I know what happens when Alpha's lose their head. "Yes, Sir."
"Go and get me breakfast," he commanded. "Eggs, bacon, and a mug of black coffee. Don't take long," he added.
"But I—"
He pins me with a death glare, I clamp my lips shut and narrow my eyes at him. With a huff, I get out of the bed but my legs wobble under me and I fall face-first on the carpeted floor.
"Damn," I mumble as I rub my nose.
"Careful," Sebastian takes my small hand in his, funny our hands fit together just right.
"I don't want you to immobilize yourself and complain that you can't work..."
Grumbling to myself. I decided to go down to the kitchen where a few other Omegas are cooking as well.
One of the perks of being an Omega: You must learn how to cook— fast.
Which is what I hate the most. I'm toasted.
Crash!
"Another?" A male Omega, probably someone's mate, glares at me, his Italian accent flaring. "You broke another plate?!"
"Sorry!" I said, hurriedly picking up the pieces. "It just happens!"
"No, no, no!" He said. "Not another damage, you understand?"
I nodded immediately. "I promise," I replied sheepishly as I put Sebastian's breakfast on a tray, grab the coffee, and hurriedly get out.
When I enter the room, I almost drop the tray.
"You took your time," Sebastian said, not looking at me as he picks up a black dress shirt. "Are you just going to keep standing over there? Put it on the table."
I give my head a brief shake and avoid looking at the shameless Alpha buttoning up his shirt in front of me.
Seriously? What would he do if I starts changing my clothes in front of him?
I glance at Sebastian, now dressed in a dress shirt, dark slacks, and an office jacket looking through a folder, eyebrows pulled together. I scrawled at the thoughts that came inside my mind and decided to go back outside.
"Wait.." A deep voice calls me back.
I turn around to see Sebastian holding out a thin piece of cloth to me.
"A tie?" I asked him holding up then the realization hits me. "You want me to do your tie?!"
Sebastian raises an eyebrow, eyes gleaming with the challenge. "Is that a problem, Hazel?"
"Not at all, Sir." I gritted out.
Hesitantly, I take a step closer to him and reach up to put the tie around his neck. Goodness! He's almost as tall as a camel! I have to stand on my toes to reach him!
"Can't you just bend down a little?" I finally said it.
"Alphas don't bow to anyone," he remarked.
I give him a hard look, he turns in with ten times more intensity.
"Fine." I grab him by the collar and more out of shock than force.
Sebastian stumbled towards me. I stand up on the bed and look down at him with a sweet smile. This is much better.
I quickly do his tie, avoiding looking into his stormy blue eyes following my every movement.
"There!" I said happily once I'd done it.
I step off the bed and grin at Sebastian, he simply goes over to the breakfast tray and picks up his coffee.
"Another pack is coming this afternoon," he tells me casually. "Dress appropriately."
"Why?" I asked with an arched eyebrow.
"When I received them, you're going to be with me," he said, his dark blue eyes threatening to see through me.
I look down at my jogging gear. Though I couldn't give a damn about what anyone would think of my dress, dressing good wouldn't be so bad. I simply nodded and go back to my room.
I look through my bag and pull out a cream-colored top, a floppy white skirt, and quickly get dressed. I fix my hair and let it down.
I'm done. Now, what should I have for my breakfast? As I go down the stairs, I smell a familiar scent. I halt in my steps, my eyes dart around, and land on a man in warrior uniform and brown hair.
And seems he notices me too and looks up, blue eyes meet my own, and the next thing I know, I'm racing down the stairs into my best friend's arm.
"Cleo!" I said, wrapping both arms around him tightly. "Oh, my moon! What are you doing here?"
"Same goes for you, Elizabeth," he said but hugs me back just as tightly. "On second thought, never mind. I'm happy to see you."
"So, am I brother." I grinned as I pull away. "Anyways, I didn't see you before..."
"The pack warriors are staying at another house just a few meters away," he explained. "Who did you come with?"
I wave at him dismissively. "It doesn't matter but what matter is whether or not you'd make me sightseeing?"
Cleo puts on a thinking expression. "Hmm, I don't know..."
I clasped my hands together under my chin and give him the best puppy eyes I can muster.
"Fine!" He throws his hands up in the air. "Goddess! You're such a blackmailer!"
"Blackmailing is my pastime," I winked and grab his arm, dragging him outside.
When Sebastian said that the trip would be worth it, he wasn't kidding. After going around for hours and hours, from one rippling stream to the next grassy land slope, from one majestic with little adorable houses to the ext, a loud rumble interrupted us."Damn, I feel like my stomach is eating itself," I slumped against Cleo."Come on, let's get you some breakfast," he puts his arm around my shoulders and take me to little tea shop at the bank of stream. As I devour my food, Cleo tells me about this Alpha's Hunt."So..." I swallow my food. "They send duos from each pack on an eight weeks journey through an ancient forest?"He nodded. "Shifting is Forbidden, they put a spell on them to make sure of that. It is also called a Deadly Game because all you get is one map of the forest.""Sounds simple enough," I shrugged. "Anyway, what time is it?""Almost four in the afternoon, why?" he asked.I stop eating, a deep voice rings in my ears. Crap! I almost forgot what Sebastian said."Holy m
Since I don't own any office clothes, a simple red sweater and dark jeans will have to do. I follow Sebastian to the study room in the mansion, a notepad and pen in my pocket, when we come to the halt.Charles, the soon-to-be beta, looks from Sebastian to yours truly and back to Sebastian. His eyes glaze over and so do Sebastian's. I roll my eyes and shift my weight on one leg. Mind linking me out of the conversation, huh?A moment later, Sebastian opens the door of the study room, which might as well be made a meeting room. Maybe it already is, considering the numerous men already there.None of the Alpha's or Beta's greet each other, other than a simple nod.Sebastian turns to me. "Wait here...""But I want to know what this is about," I say."It's about the Alpha Hunt's rules, Elizabeth," Charles answered me. He knows me? "It is really no use to you.""But—"Sebastian gives me a hard look, I narrow my eyes at him and turn my face away. Asshole. As the meeting in there goes on and o
"Umm, do you mind if the book is a little wet?" she asked me."What?" I stand up from my desk.Through the open door, I can see Charles. He stops at the door and gives me a confused look. Hazel pulls out the book from behind her back, also dropping wet. She hands it to me but I only push it back."It's going to drip over my desk," I say with a scowl. "How did this even happen?""You see, there's a bridge in the way to the pack warrior residence," she said then I nodded. "I quickly reached the house, I found the book despite the very uncooperative people there and I was coming back as soon as possible! But... it was so tempting to walk over the railing of the bridge I couldn't help myself and when I started walking over it, I lost my balance and fell and then I got wet. But you can still read the book! You only have to dry it! Maybe with a drier, if you have a drier, or you can ask someone else to—""Hazel," my voice cuts through her rant and animated gestures."Yes?" for the first tim
As I storm back to my room, I can't help but think how long this will go on. How long will Omegas be treated like this?Yes, we aren't as powerful as the Alphas or the Betas. Yes, we aren't as skilled as Warriors. Yes, we aren't random people of the pack but we are part of the pack.We are just as loyal, just as protective, just as important. We don't want anyone to worship us. We don't want to be special. We just want to be acknowledgement. We want to be treated as everyone else. After thinking for Gods know how long I groan into my pillow. I need to think fast! I'm running out of time. My eyes swim to my wardrobe and and idea light up my head. My lips slowly curl into a smirk.I'd like to see how anyone stops me from going, Luna.I've lost my mind. Not today, I lost it quite some time ago. You see, when you still have some logic or sense in you, you think of the consequences, the risks and funnily enough, you give a shit about them as well. But when you've lost your mind, you don't
Everyone just stares at me in pin drop silence."This is bad!" my good angle whispered frantically."Oh no! This is going to be fun," my bad angle angle chuckles sinisterly.I take a long swing of the champagne and then put the bottle on the table."Alright," my voice slurrs a bit. "What the hell is happening?"Finally, Alpha Sean steps forward. His hands are closed into fists and his face is tomato red, two horns sprout on his head. I knew he was a Satan."What are you doing here?" he strides towards me like a mad bull. "Omegas weren't allowed!"The word Omega floats out of his mouth and towards the crowd, whispers and gasp follow."Don't worry, I'm going..." I wave dismissively. "It was a waste of time anyways.""Is that... Oh my moon! That's my dress!" Daisy says, eyes narrowed."You stupid, stupid girl!" Luna Feather glares at me. "You should've never come here!"The three of them start advancing towards me, I hold up my hands and step back."Hey, I told you I'm going," I said. "W
When I leave the meeting room, Cleo takes me back to where I was originally supposed to be— my room. While we go, I tell Cleo about what I did."Brilliant plan," Cleo mutters quietly. "So, what now?""Honestly, I never thought I'd make itthis far," I mutter back. "What?" he gives me an alarmed look. "So you just decided to move out without knowing what you actually intend to do?"My mind goes back to the plan I thought of when I was in the meeting room. But... all of that feels so far away, so unreal. "I wont need a plan if I end up dead." I say quietly. We stop in front of my room— well, Sebastian's room. Mine is inside it."Elizabeth, listen to me," Cleo says, putting his hands on my shoulders "If anyone is capable of pulling this off, its you."I roll my eyes. "Really?""Yes, really." He grins at me. "You're the only werewolf who can blackmail her Alpha, Luna and Alpha-to-be to do what you want to. You're the only omega who can look a higher rank in the eye. You're the only one
"Sweetie, are you sure you're alright?" mom asks me for the millionth time. All the rouges were killed. Two pack members were killed. The night sky's high above our heads and I am in bed with my mother fussing about me."Mom," I say just as she's about to get me more chicken soup. "Yes, Elizabeth?" She asks. "During the attack,” I start quietly. "A rouge said something to me."I look at her worried face and take a deep breath. "He called me Juliette."The bowl in my mother's hands crashes on the floor and breaks ito a million pieces. She come near me looks like a woman who see a ghost. She's shaking at all but I was even more surprised when she confess something to me. "You were a what?" I sputter. "I was a rouge, Elizabeth." Mom sighs, tracing the hem of her apron I stare at her expectedly, waiting for her to continue this. Mom never told me much of her life before my dad, and frankly, I never thought I should ask about it."We were... A pack of rouges," she glances at me. "A ve
Everyone starts running.I take a step forward but Sebastian grabs my arm. I look back at him but he just shakes his head."What are you doing?" I raise my eyebrows. "Everyone else is getting ahead!"Sebastian takes two bags, puts one on each of his shoulders and leaves the bigger two on the ground."It's a Hunt, not a race," he says. "Pick those up and follow behind."Sebastian starts for the furthest side of the forest. I huff and pick up one of the bags only to fall back on the ground."You might want to be careful," a deep voice drifts to my ears. "You don't have werewolf strength anymore."What?!"What do mean?" I say, barely able to keep up with him. "When Kate locked your wolf, she locked a lot of other things too," Sebastian says, eyes on the map. "By that I mean any possible advantage of being a any possible advantage of being a werewolf.""So we have nothing left?" I ask in horror. "No speed or strength or smell or anything?!""Of course I do," Sebastian says. "What?" I fu
"Welcome, messenger," she said in a voice as smooth as honey. The trembling in the man's hands stopped and he stood straighter, clearing his voice."Thank you, Princess," he said, glancing at Moira. "And Your Majesty. It is an honor to be welcomed into your pack's territory. I bring a message from the Kingdom and King Gabriel himself."Sophia practically glowed at this news. The rest of the pack waited with bated breath. I fought the urge to roll my eyes. Everyone knew what this was about. It had been two years. The messenger could only be coming to announce -"The Hunt," he said, bringing a letter forward and presenting it. One of the guards stepped forward to take it and walk it to Sophia, who didn't open it, but stood holding it in both hands. "The Hunt will begin in a few short days, and King Gabriel and his mother Queen Elizabeth would be honored by your participatiorn. Twelve other princesses will be joining you at the Harmon's Palace to partake in several tasks. King Gabriel
New Generation:"Tell me why I should waste my time on a maid when I can have a princess tonight?"On every blood moon, twelve princesses from all over the world, belonging to different packs, gather at the Harmon's Palace, the home to the King of Alpha's and where the hunt takes place. For thousands of years, the hunt had been marked as the game of Queen's, where only one of the females get selected to become the next Alpha Queen, only after a long trial Valarie arrived at the Harmon's Palace as Princess Sophia's lady but instead, she captured the attention of the King Gabriel himself and vowed to have the prize all for herself only after a one accidental night, where she got the pleasure of her life.ValarieI was rushing. It was hard to ignore the murmurs and laughter as I passed by, as well as curious conversations; the laughter I knew were directed at me. As a servant I was at the bottom of the pack, and wasn't helping my cause by stumbling barefoot through the walkways. But my f
Marching her way out of his flat, Gabrielle quickly pulls up the black dress from her knees up to cover her cold naked body as she heads to the door."Idiot!" she grits her teeth as her knuckles turn white clenching it into a fist. She can feel her face heating up because of anger. God! She doesn't usually feel this much anger towards another person to the point that she really wants to punch his face if not murder him."Breathe Gab..." she closes her eyes tightly as she inhales before grabbing her stilettos and briefly looking around for her pouch."Stupid idiot!" she grits her teeth again not finding anything around Vincent's living room. She's already on the verge of screaming and stomping her feet in frustration when she noticed his car keys hanging on the hook on the wall just beside the main door. Not looking around, with the heels hanging on her fore and middle says to me, hands in his pockets."He's always been," I say with a smile."Aren't you jealous?" He raises an eyebrow,
Today is the day. After breakfast, Sebastian dropped me by our room, excusing himself to go and see if all the others in the mansion are ready to depart for the temple where this ceremony is.We have to leave in the end, after everyone else, so there's plenty of time to get dressed. Fidgeting excitedly, I rake through the closet and find a knee length white dress that looks sophisticated enough. I quickly take a shower and dry my hair, put on the dress and apply a bit of makeup. Quickly zipping up my ankle boots, I take another look at the mirror. The door opens, I see Sebastian's reflection. I grin at his surprised expression as he sees me and do a little twirl."Ta da!" I say excitedly. "So, how do I look?"He smiles as he crosses the room to come up in front of me, his arms up around me as my own hook around his neck."Can you ever look less than perfect?" Sebastian says."True..." I say brushing back a strand of his hair that fell out of place. Then I cock my head. "What are you w
Staring at my reflection in the bathroom mirror, wrapped in a sinfully fluffy robe, I as my fingers brush the skin at the junction of my neck and shoulder, where the mark was.Hell, the skin here is so flawless now, it feels synthetic.I shake my head, trying to get rid of the slightly hollow feeling that's settled in the pit of my stomach.Quickly getting dressed, I step out into our room. Sebastian looks up from the letters he's reading when I approach the bed and settle down beside him."How are you feeling?" he asks.I roll my eyes with a smile. "That's got to be the ninth time you've asked me that since morning."Sebastian cocks his head to a side. "I'm hoping for something a little more than a simple Fine' this time.""I feel." I tap my chin with a finger. "Empty? Like something's missing."An annoyed breath escapes me. "I honestly don't know if its only the fact that all my heightened senses are gone."Sebastian chuckles, I narrow my eyes at him. "That's to be expected, hopeful
"Sneaking out, Hazel?"I freeze in my tracks.Which, by the way, isn't really easy. Given I'm half hanging out of the bedroom window. Clearing my throat, I pull myself up a bit, grinning sheepishly as I catch Sebastian's eyes. He's leaning against the bedroom door, arms crossed loosely across his chest."Hello mate," I croon. "You finaly remember I'm alive?"Sebastian takes the liberty to walk over to the window and all but pull me inside the room, his arms wrapping around my waist."Do I want to know where you were going?" He asks, but amusement gleams in his stormy gaze."Who says I'm not just returning from my rendezvous?" I pick off an imaginary piece of lint from my shirt. "Because I'm just returning from my rendezvous," Sebastian says, interlocking his fingers with mine and leading me out of the room. "And I'd have seen you climbing up.""Where were you?" I narrow my eyes at him. After our date last night, I'd woken up this morning in an empty bed and a little note saying he'll
"No."I cross my arms, frowning at Sebastian. He holds my gaze, his own immovable with determination. We're sitting in the kitchen, the table laden with breakfast that both of us made together. The morning was as blissful as they come, waking up in his arms, and then cooking together had been more than amazing. Only, right now I want to whack him on the head."Why?" I ask."Because I don't want him anywhere near you," Sebastian says firmly."Come on!" I lean forward in my chair, towards him. "He's my friend! He might still be worried about me taking a bullet."His eyes only narrow at that. "You're wellbeing is none of his business."I close my eyes and take a deep breath. Calm, Elizabeth, calm. What you need is to stay chill and make Sebastian see things from your side."Sebastian," I take his hand in my own. "Don't you trust me?"The steel in his gaze falters at that, his fingers tighten around my own. "Its not you I don't trust.""Elmond is just," I take a second to gather my though
I heave out a dramatic sigh and lean my head over the armrest of the couch in our room."This is so boring," I drawl out.Sebastian looks up from the files he was reviewing, my legs resting across his lap. "You could read a book.""Been there, done that.""Get yourself something to eat?""Don't feel like it.""Browse through the internet?""Not my thing."This time he sighs, brushing his thumb against my calf "Then I'm sorry to say Hazel, but you'll have to bear it."Sebastian explained to me that it'll take a day or two to find Khate and convince her to come here. Until then, I can't let any of the other surviving competitors know that Sebastian and I are mates. Meaning, I have to stay on this floor, for another few days. I sit up and pout at him. "Are you really sure someone will find out we're mates if I go out?""Positive," Sebastian says, looking at little conflicted at my disappointed face."Its fine," I say, defeated with the fact that I'll have to stay stuck on this floor unt
I knock at the office's door.A moment later, I crack it open and peek my head inside. Sebastian's looks up from where he's working at his table."Did I disturb you?" I smile at him.Sebastian shakes his head. "Come in."I slip inside and close the door behind. Its been a while since breakfast and now that I'm tired after reading books in the library I decided I should do something else."What are you doing?" I ask, perching myself on his desk."Something boring." Sebastian says with a sigh, he glances up at me. "When I'd rather be doing something else."My brows raise, along with the corner of my mouth pity you have to keep working. He sighs again. I lean forward to inspect the file, looking more like a calendar where there's a note under each date and Sebastian is filling up the rest."Anything I can help with?""I'm afraid I have to suffer through this one alone." Sebastian says, his eyes flicker to me yet again. "Did you call your mom?""Yup." I nod. "She wants me to come back as
