Chapter TWENTY-FIVE: Give Us A Chance

Jessica was also stunned to see how Rose reacted to Lucille's condition. She stared at her as if she had seen a monster.

Though she is fond of seeing Lucille's parents get mad at her for no reason but the least she expected was Rose slapping Lucille even in such a condition.

Lucille, on the other hand, thought that her mother was there to sympathize with her not knowing that she came with a lot of disdain.

"Mom, what did I do wrong that warrant..."

"I should be asking you that question, what did my daughter do wrong to deserve such inhumane behavior from you?"

Rose cut off Lucille's utterance, reminding her what she used to say when they were little. Ever since they were kids, Rose had always referred to Rhea as her daughter, but had never for one day called Lucille her daughter.
