"I'll give you two days to prepare yourself because you will be staying with me after that. And I don't care even if I linger for many more weeks, months, or years. I will wait until you accept me."
SAFETY of mine is the paramount goal I've been striving for, the most crucial thing in this world. This is why I cannot let anyone find me, or I'll be forced to put them to death, and if I failed, I'd be wrecked.
I am glad that Alpha Ace didn't follow me or push boundaries beyond my comfort zone. I knew he was just like the other werewolf who would kill me if he found out I was the silver wolf.
Walking to the living room, I was stunned when I saw mom, dad, and my sister sitting around the dining table, all watching me with worried expressions.
"What's wrong, mom? Dad? Sister?" I questioned as I strode straight to the refrigerator to grab a glass of water.
My sister, Filomena, had her brown hair tied into low ponytails. She wore white tights and a blue crop top with red flat shoes. She was gorgeous yet scary looking when she looked down at you. She used to wear sexy outfits, which is my opposite because I always prefer wearing plain and simple clothes.
"Do you have no plans on telling us what happened earlier?" mom inquired, but I drank first before answering. Seriously? How did they know?
The three of them looked like they were expecting an answer from me, so I quickly swallowed the water and set it down before turning toward them.
"The Alpha saw her."
A familiar voice entered the kitchen, making me tense even though I knew who that voice belonged to.
"Hey, Matt! Why did you leave me there alone, huh? You didn't even wait for me," I said, looking at him disapprovingly.
"You knew our deal, Gwen. I must not intervene so that you wouldn't look suspicious," he explicated, which somehow convinced me. "Good evening, Mr. and Mrs. Hareya, and to you, Sister Filomena."
"Join us with dinner, Matt," Sister Filomena offered politely. Well, seeing Matt in our house is not new because that's the only reward we could give him for all the kindness and sacrifice he has made to me. For me, he's just my brother whose only wish was to preserve my life by guiding me.
"So, what happened earlier, Gwen?" dad queried, then I strode toward them to take and sat beside Matt.
"I rejected him."
"W-what?" they're all asked in unison as if they're shocked by what I just told them.
"Well, technically, I can reject him anytime I want. Is there wrong with that?"
"But, the Alpha has sent a letter with us. He was inviting us for supper tomorrow evening with his family. Did he apprise you, sweetheart?" mom asked.
"No. I rejected him, so why would I agree to meet his parents?"
Sister Filomena shook his head. "You're being impulsive, Gwen."
"But I'm sure that I'm not gonna regret this."
"Well, if he accepted your rejection, there's no need to worry. But if he didn't, you both will suffer."
"Suffer?" I crumpled my brows.
My mom nodded. "From pain."
"And the only thing to free both of you was to accept each other," my father added, which left me flabbergasted.
"But I thought we're all fine with this?" I questioned with curiosity as I recollected those times they acknowledged my choice not to find the Alpha. "What if he kills me?"
"He won't," Matt assured. "If anything happens, you'll be safe because I'll be there to watch out."
"Yeah, but not without consequence."
He chuckled, which annoyed me. "Don't worry about me, Gwen. Alpha Ace is a good man."
"So, do you agree, my daughter?" dad asked.
I hesitated for a while, skeptical about meeting Alpha and his parents. It's hard to believe that this is what happened to me after being seen by him in the forest. If only I had known sooner that I had this fate, I wouldn't have been there in the first place.
I don't know how much more my tolerance can hold up now that I have assented to this matter.
"Yes."
"Good."
Our dinner continued after that, with small talk and jokes thrown between my mom, dad, my sister, and Matt, with the light atmosphere like nothing had ensued this day.
I couldn't stop pondering Alpha and his conversation with me. That man seemed so addictive, his presence was honestly enticing, perhaps because he was my mate, yet I couldn't say whether it was a good thing. I kept my doubts about accepting the Alpha. I was so immersed in what was ahead that night that I couldn't sleep due to the negativity shrouding me.
ONE hour went out before we reached our destination— the place of Alpha, including his family.
Feeling uneasy, I wasn't prepared to see them but had no choice since Alpha Ace urged us to go here.
Mom and dad entered the door first, followed by my sister. Matt and I were the last ones who entered, closing the door behind us. The former Alpha Rivo approached and greeted us. He is the father of Alpha Ace.
They invited us to dinner, and everyone occupied all the seats around the table except for me, who was left standing still when I saw the man seated at the head of it, staring straight at me like a predator eyeing its prey. However, his stare doesn't have any indication of harm, just pure admiration. I couldn't deny the fact that he was attractive.
"Gwen?" sister Filomena called out my name, enough to arouse me from my rowdy senses.
I strode toward them and realized that the only space left was in front of Alpha Ace. I'm honestly feeling awkward because his eyes are fixed upon my face, making me uncomfortable.
'I miss your scent,' he said to me. My eyes widened when our minds linked automatically without me allowing it to happen. This has never happened before.
'I don't miss yours.'
'Ouch. But maybe you miss my handsome face.'
'That's ridiculous.'
'Don't deny it.'
'I won't. You're insane, you know.'
'Yeah, I am. And it started when I saw you in the forest.'
His last words compelled me to glance at him with annoyance, but my heart was thumping wildly internally.
"I guess our son and your daughter were able to bond after all," Alpha Rivo broke the silence with an amused tone.
My cheeks warmed up at this as I looked back at Alpha Ace. He smiled softly at me; a hot smile almost melted my heart into oblivion. This can't be!
"Welcome to our family, Mr. and Mrs. Hareya. It's a pleasure to meet you with your two lovely daughters," the woman beside Alpha Rivo, his wife, said. She gave me a warm smile. "I am Athena, but you can call me mom Athena since you will be staying here."
We were both stunned by what she stated until my mom recovered from her astonishment first. "Uhmm, I think it would be better if my daughter would spend this night with us. And tomorrow evening, we'll send her here."
"It's alright, mom. Let my mate spend this night with them; tomorrow, I expect her to be with me. Will that be fine, Gwen?"
'No!' I said in my mind, but he didn't respond; instead, he smiled, which annoyed me.
'You're annoying! Tsk!' I retorted in my mind, which made his smile wider.
I just realized that everyone was waiting for my answer when Matt nudged me lightly on my arm.
"Oh, yeah. That's fine," I answered forcefully, but I managed to hide the exasperation on my face and smile instead.
"Alright, if you both insist, then let's eat," the former Alpha Rivo spoke excitedly until everyone proceeded to eat their food.
The conversation between my family was light, but somehow it felt heavy for me since I'm not used to entertaining them.
After long moments of eating dinner, I noticed that my best friend wasn't there anymore until I excused myself and found him outside. Soon as I reached the frame door, I scrutinized the entire surrounding and caught a man standing from a distance; his face seemed to hold a worry like he was in a state of profound thought. It was Matt.
I walked toward him, but before I could utter something, he took the chance first, and I was startled by the word he had stated.
"Are you attracted to him, Gwen?" Matt questioned as he spun around, a severe expression that could be viewed in his dark orb, which baffled me."Wait, is that even necessary?""I just wanna know. So, please be honest with your feelings."One of my brows furrowed upon hearing his utterances. How dare he ask me like that? "He's handsome, yet annoying. But if I'm being honest, I hate this place. I don't want to be with him, Matt. Why are you asking me such a ridiculous question when you were the one who urged me to deal with him."Rolling my eyes in exasperation, I shook my head and then diverted it again to his face, which seemed lost in his senses."You're acting weird. What's wrong?" I asked with curiosity as I bestowed him a concerned look.I anticipated him to convey his reason, but it was contrary to what happened next. He denied it. "Nothing. Just worried."He swiveled around only to find himself looking at nothing in particular."No worries. You'll see me often enough here," he
"You can slap me on my face. Punch me. Hurt me. If that's the only way to make you stay."I glanced at him, and his lovely orbs were staring straight at me. My heart thumped aggressively when I saw his intense stare at me, so I decided to avert my gaze again.'Why so rude to my mate?' Violet retorted as if she was dissented and was annoyed by my behavior, but I ignored her."Please, give me time to absorb everything, Alpha Ace. Sorry for being tactless, but don't think I hate you as you are."Something hot in his smile rose after I declared those words. "That's a positive view, I guess.""Oops, I'm sorry, Alpha Ace. I still don't want to have mate, marked my words."I thought he would get offended by those words, but what ensued is contrary to my assumptions. He tossed me a playful smile and said, "Everybody changed their mark after a certain point. Sometimes, people you hate at first will be the ones you love the most.""It's not always the case," I clarified, even though his words s
"I'm not mad. It's just… I'm not used to it. I told you we're contrary despite being your mate. If there's one thing I've been craving for," I trailed off, not knowing how to express myself. "That's the peace." There was a mark of perplexity as I stated those words, and I could sense his overflowing worry by the way he scrutinized every inch of my face as if he was searching for a clue. Unhesitantly, I struggled from under his embrace but stopped halfway when his fingers curled around my wrist, preventing me from leaving; he held me in place, unwilling to let go. Then he pulled me gradually toward the table, which surprised me. "Is there anything wrong?" he asked gently; the warmth in his tone made my heart stutter. "Did I offend you?" "No. That's not what I mean." "Then what? What makes you so distant? There must be a reason, and as your mate, I want you to be honest with me." I was hesitant as he took hold of my hands again, holding them tight. I looked at our joined hands for
"Well, because I thought I might be your mate."At first, I expected him to scoff at me. I should have known better; he was not one to mock someone like me with that kind of matter. But instead, he smiled, albeit a small one, and laughed suddenly. "Just kidding!"The apprehension that kept bubbling inside vanished as it quickly changed into a sigh, and I laughed slightly to conceal my emotion."The truth is I have never wished to have such. The only person who has made me happy was you." there was no indication of lies the moment he conveyed those words, just sincerity."And that's also the thing I told Alpha earlier. That you and my family are paramount of all."He nodded, clearly satisfied by my utterances. I continued walking, but then I was forced to stop when he called my name again, causing me to turn around and face him. "Yes?""Just in case you don't feel good about staying with the Alpha's house, feel free to tell me. I'll find a way to help you."His eagerness could be seen
"If you are willing to be close to her, you should start by supporting whatever she does. If she goes anywhere, it would be aloof of you not to be there."I was impressed by Matt. The way he emitted those words with bravery in front of the Alpha, I could sense how resolute he was to protect me. Matt guided me consistently since day one. For him, he'd rather stay by my side in the middle of peril than question my stubbornness by leaving me unattended."Thanks for letting me know." Alpha Ace deviated his gaze at me, acknowledging my best friend's utterances.*****SITTING in front of the Alpha was one of the most unnerving occurrences that happened to me, not because I was afraid of him but because of the possible upshot that might transpire during the conversation. I was currently depleting my time listening to his explications as I tried not to be rude."Please, let me know next time, okay? I want you safe, Gwen.""You don't have to reiterate that to me, Alpha. Matt wants me safe too
How does it feel to be a normal werewolf without versatile blood and healing ability? How does it feel to have the liberty to live wherever I want without worrying about my future?WAKING up to the sound of noise is what I despise the most. I grew up in solitude, and if I will define my life, the right word is tranquility.I stood up, yawning as it was still early in the morning. I left the room and stopped in the middle of the staircase to check the source. From there, I could see Alpha Ace with his parents conversing with their faces so earnestly that a sudden disturbance caught their attention.Matt?"Alpha, our subordinates were attacked by the black wolves. They need us!" Matt said an urgency as he halted at the door."What happened?!""Omega was waiting for us to be there. And according to him, they managed to stop them. Some were injured, but no one died. However, they all need immediate medical attention.""We'll help you," Mr. Rivo said."But what about Gwen?" Mrs. Athena ask
“Silver werewolves are not real, Alpha. They only exist in folklore and legends,” I said as I strived to kick him in the ribs, but he was too fast for me, and he avoided the attack. I stamped my foot on the ground and cursed a bit under my breath in frustration.“How can you tell?” Alpha Ace questioned me with a smirk on his face. We had been doing the training since we woke up this morning.“I just know it,” I stated without enunciating further explanation.“But what makes you say that?” his question made me pause from moving. I don’t know why he kept asking these questions when I explicated everything to him for at least three minutes. It was starting to annoy me quite a lot. “What made me know that silver werewolves aren’t real?” I reiterated with a severe glare and stepped toward him. “It’s because that was just some sort of fantasy, the absence which has caused a huge misconception about their existence. If they were real, robust creatures would try to find them instead of makin
"Sister Filomena?" I called out as I opened the window. She looked up and smiled at me, but then the smile on my lips faded when I noticed how bizarre she looked."Are you okay?" I questioned while sitting down on the windowsill. I couldn't see her looking like this often, primarily since I'd known her for years. Her hair was unbound, which was unusual for me."Sister? Are you okay?" I reiterated, but she didn't respond; instead, she hurled a creepy smile that perplexed me."What happened? Come here," I said, motioning her to come over, but then she spun around."Wait! Sister!" I called out once more; then I scurried outside the room; soon as I reached downstairs, I bumped into someone's chest and realized it was Alpha Ace.He quickly grabbed me before I hit the ground from my fall. "Sorry," I mumbled."No, it's fine. What happened to you?" he asked, but his face dropped slightly in amusement after seeing my attire. His eyes went to the edge of the dress, then moved to my bare arms,
Gwen's POV I shifted into a silver werewolf and attacked the first vampire who tried to come close to me. For every attempt of an enemy toward me, I snapped his neck with one of my claws until blood flowed freely down his throat. There was no way I would go after them without getting at least a couple of hits. I could not count how many foes I had killed today, but each one left me satisfied in ways that nothing else could. I glanced to the right side and saw my parents, Vera with Valir, fighting off five vampires at once, using their claws to slash their throats open as quickly as if they were swatting mosquitoes away. On the other side, I saw the Packs, Israel, and the other witches fighting off another group of enemies. The fairies were helping out with the battle on their end as well. The shield they were casting toward us was impenetrable against any magical attack. And it was also holding back all of the attacks and then throwing them back to the enemies. The war conti
Gwen's POV Vera stand up from the bed, wearing her purple dress made of skin-tight fabric that showed all of her curves. Valir was taken aback as if he couldn't believe that his wife is finally here in front of him. He walked toward her and caressed her face with his warm hands. "Oh god... you're alive." Vera smiled at her husband, who is now looking down on her. She wrapped her arms around Valir's neck and kissed him passionately. The tears began to form again, as Valir can feel Vera's soft lips on his and can't help but kiss back passionately, wrapping his arms around her waist tightly. After a few minutes of a passionate kiss, the couple slowly parted. Both were out of breath. Vera wiped away her tears, looked at her husband lovingly, and whispered, "Who made this?" Valir pointed at me with a smile, tears of joy were visible in their eyes and I could not help but feel happy for both of them. "Gwen granted my favor. She resurrected you," Israel explained. Suddenly, Valir amb
Gwen's POV After an oath that Valir, the battle ceased. "Bring me to where she is," I said. "Can you please do it now?" he desperately asked. "Yes." Before I could accompany him, my parents and Israel talked to me first. They are worried but the witches and fairies suggested that Valir's intention was real. And I have to give a shot to end this battle with no one being harmed or killed. Afterward, the fairies, watches, and Israel decided to come with me to ensure that Valir and his companions would not gonna hurt her. I know they all are worried for me. They also know there was another way to end this war. And that is to do this man's favor. Currently, we were walking into the forest surrounded by numerous huge trees that seemed to be ancient. The air around us was not polluted but somehow different from the usual forest. We walked slowly as the gust of wind blew at us gently. It didn't seem to bother us but the forest itself was weirdly quiet. I could sense a stink in th
Gwen's POV"My wife is dead, and I want to resurrect her."The moment Valir said those words, I felt sad for him, not only because he lost a woman who meant the world to him, but also because of the bitter fact that he chose to become evil. "You want her back?" I asked him as I strode a few steps. He nodded. "Then why do you have to kill numerous innocent creatures in this land? Why do you have to watch in your own eyes how hard they suffer? Why do you keep spreading cruelty when there's a way to become one of us!""That's the only way to resurrect my wife! You know nothing about my pain!""I know your pain. I lost someone because of you! I lost my sister and my best friend!" I yelled with all anger as I remembered everything. "I will tell you now, Valir... you can never resurrect your wife no matter how numerous creatures or silver werewolves you kill!""How could you deduce that?!""Because only my kind... can give another life!""Then why don't you heal your sister if that's tru
Gwen's POVIn just an instant where we emerged outside my house. The view that greeted us was too unexpected.Everyone was having a massive fight with our enemies. "Gwen! Careful in every way!" Israel warned before he attacked the black werewolves. He is a half-witch and half werewolf but he prefers fighting in a human form where he can use his magic to kill.I scanned the entire surrounding and realized that even my parents were currently in a fight. The enemy is many, and I couldn't count them all by hand. They're running around everywhere, making everything worse.I hide behind the thick bush and quickly transformed into my silver wolf form. I ran at full speed towards where they were fighting. In just a blink of an eye, I'm among them and immediately attacked the wolves attacking Rini. Since I am silver, I can take out three or four of the enemies. One of the remaining creatures decided it was time to attack my father and so I dashed and jumped on him. I bit down on his neck wit
Gwen's POV"I wanna show you something to you, Gwen. If you're into it, close your eyes."My curiosity became even more heightened with the mention of what could happen. My heart started beating faster and the cold air around me started to become chilly as well. This was it. I closed my eyes and waited. After the briefest second had passed I felt someone's hand taking mine and guiding me. "Don't open unless I say so.""Sure."We stopped moving for about ten seconds. Some noises echoed around us in the air. The sound of a peaceful night where birds chirped at the moon's reflection off the calm lake water. My eyes were still closed but my lips curled into a moon crescent."Now, open your eyes."My eyes immediately opened. We were no longer standing outside the house. Instead, we were standing in a place completely different from anything I'd ever seen. It looked like we were in an underground cavern or a cave under a rock somewhere. Everything seemed extremely bright as if a light bul
Gwen's POVHere I am outside the house, conversing with my allies. The Aqua Rune Pack, fairies, witches, and the other subordinates who support us in this messy journey of mine. The truth that I'd been hiding for quite a long time was now revealed. All of them knows I was a silver werewolf and my blood can both heal and kill. This ability was given to only a few creatures and despite its advantage of it, I can't help but feel guilty especially with the fact that this ability failed to save my sister. For the very first time in my history, I felt like mucky trash because of that. But all I could do to make my sister happy was to keep fighting and be the best version of myself. While we were occupied chatting with one another, one of the fairies floated in the air as if she needs to convey important matters."Another battle will soon break out between us and vampires" she began. "We need to be vigilant."I was stunned to hear those declarations and another pang struck me in the chest.
Gwen's POVIt was early in the morning when I woke up and got up from bed to start my day. I glanced at my side only to see that Alpha wasn't here with me. Soon as my gaze diverted to the bedside table next to where I was lying on it I could see a glass of water sitting there along with a note written in her messy cursive. 'Good morning. You must have been tired since you first encountered the real life of a silver werewolf, so I didn't wake you up. You've done so many things for us and me. It's my turn, my luna. I love you.'I gasped lightly feeling a lump form in the back of my throat before wiping away my tears. I sat up and grabbed the glass of water and gulped it down without hesitation. After putting the empty glass back on the side table.Where did he go?I walked out and went to the kitchen downstairs. "Good morning, sweetheart." mom approached and kissed me on the forehead. I smiled softly at her and nodded. My mother has always taken care of me. From the beginning, she did
Gwen's POVTwo have passed ever since my sister was killed by one of our greatest foes. I don't feel anything other than the sorrow of losing someone so dear to me and I know that my parents feel the same pain as well. The exact scene of how the black werewolf slain her was still vivid in my mind like a nightmare and if it's just a dream, then I want to wake up. But it isn't. She's dead and now there is nothing left for me but grief and the guilt I've been carrying around with me. Every time I recollected our memories together, it always brought up fresh tears that would fall from my eyes and I didn't even bother wiping them away. I just wanted to relish everything even if that means torturing myself with the fact that it was just a memory that will not be able to happen again. I couldn't help but blame myself for what happened because I knew that I should have done something to save her but I was so dumb. I tried my very best to heal her that time but it didn't work. This was the v
