He didn't seem bothered at all. He just stared into my eyes with his usual poker face. He turned off the shower, giving the four corners a complete silence.
"Are you sure you're not in a relationship with Nazarus?" he asked with his face looking stiff, staring just only into my eyes.
"The fuck?!" I checked my body, making sure the sensitive parts were all covered. "I'm pretty sure, Fenris. What the--- I'm taking a shower! Can we talk later?"
He rolled his eyes. "Is he for real just a friend of yours or are you guys flirting? Do you like him?"
"What? No. I don't like him." My brows crossed. "We're not even flirting."
My heart was thumping so loud as I imagined how I look in front of him. I looked so awkward with my arms and hand covering myself while my knees were trembling.
I puffed a breath. "Besides, I know he doesn't like me. He's not interested in me. He's a heartthrob, Fenris; famous and rich. I'm far from his ideal girl, that's for sure."
"Are you fucking sure with that?!"
My heart thumped. I was taken aback, being speechless for a few seconds while his scream was embroidered on my chest like a tattoo. Why does he seem so frustrated?
"Why are you shouting?" I gathered the stones on my chest, stopping myself from exclaiming back. "I know you get easily irritated but can you not shout?"
His cross brows slowly became relaxed as his adam's apple moved while he looked away from me. I looked down at my body, still covered with my arm and hand while I was sinking myself into the corner wall.
I looked back at him when he still didn't utter a word. He just stood in front of me, staring at the wall until he let out a deep breath.
"I'm sorry I raised my voice." He met my eyes again. "I didn't mean to. I just... don't like your guy friend."
A solid stone escaped from my chest after hearing his apologetic voice. His personality might look giant and scary but he wasn't afraid to say sorry when he knew he was wrong. My heart would often soften because of that.
"Why? You don't even know him. Can you at least give yourself time to know him?"
He took seconds of silence before gasping. "I know him, Kira. Nazarus Akeldama, a vampire."
"What?" I almost dropped my arm and hand that were keeping my sensitive parts covered. "Vampires are real too?!"
"I told you, there's more to your life that you will be uncovering."
"Is that why you hate him? Because vampires and werewolves are enemies?"
"We're not basically enemies, Kira. We just avoid each other. A rule has been made for the peace of both of our clans. We simply don't mind each other's businesses to avoid unfortunate arguments that could lead to a fight."
I was stunned. I just nodded, having no idea what to conclude.
"That's why I don't want you hanging around with him. You're a werewolf now. He can't bite you nor turn you into a vampire. That's one of the conflicts we should avoid."
"I don't think he's gonna turn me into one. Maybe he would kill me or sip my blood for his dinner but I don't think he's gonna do that as well. He seems harmless."
"Don't get too easily fooled by someone's appearance or personality, Kira. Did he ever tell you that he likes you?"
My brows crossed. "Sometimes he's joking about that, but it's nothing serious."
His gaze went deeper and sharper. "Do you like him though?"
"As a friend, yes. But in a romantic way?" I laughed sarcastically. "It's impossible to reach him so I managed to avoid falling for him. Can you get out now?" I asked as I remembered I'm still naked. "Let me finish my shower time alone."
He looked down at my boobs covered with my arms. The side of his lips rose as his eyes looked down to my thighs with my femininity still covered with my hand.
"Stop staring at my naked body, please. And can you please knock next time? I know this is your mansion but I also need privacy."
"Okay, sorry." He raised his hands in surrender. "But you're my mate and I'm gonna see you naked one way or another." He laughed before getting out of the bathroom, leaving me with heated cheeks that felt like burning woods.
Why did I feel a tingling sensation down my--- what the fuck?
I shrugged, maybe it was just because of the coldness.
Fenris started changing my routine when he added the training to my spare time. It was seriously exhausting.
A banging door woke me up from my sweet, blissful sleep. I covered my ears. I slept late last night and my eyes and body were still feeling heavy.
"Kira!"
I jumped out of the bed when I heard Fenris' commanding voice as the door opened. I puffed a breath with my thundering chest, just shocked by his exclaim.
I looked at my messy bed. "Can we do the training later?" My pillow was magnetising me to come back sleeping.
"Hell no! You need to get used to waking up early and being attentive. Go fix yourself! I'll be waiting in the garden."
My shoulders dropped as he get out of my room before closing the door again. I looked back at my bed, I was about to drop my body when the door opened again, revealing the topless Fenris.
"Don't you dare touch your bed again or you'll be running for one hour up and down the mansion's stare again!"
My palms cuffed my face as I remembered, one time, I was late in the training, he made me run on the stares for thirty minutes and hell I almost died, catching my breath while my sweat was dripping all over me. It was a tiring moment that I never wanted to experience again.
"That is so cruel of you!" I pouted.
"I just want you to be good at this. Now go fix yourself, Kira! Training at ten AM in the garden; Don't be late or else you know the drill." he commanded before finally leaving the room.
I ran towards the door and locked it. My heart was tired of thumping loud every time he was gonna show up and I would be shocked like I saw some kind of monster.
I glanced at the wall clock; it was nine-forty. He gave me a short amount of time to prepare! So cruel. I ran towards the closet and grabbed a pair of sports bras and leggings. I tied my hair up and put on a black headband just to brush away my curtain bangs.
I remembered Fenris, saying one time that I look good with my hair tied up. I smiled before taking a deep breath and did some stretchings in front of the whole-body mirror.
I ran like air down the stairs; I stopped in the middle when I bumped into a man, almost making him fall down the stairs but his reflex was fast.
My brows crossed when I met his silver eyes. "Who are you?"
"So, you are Kira." He smirked.
My brows crossed until I saw the time on his gold wristwatch. It was almost ten a.m. I just shrugged at him before running down the long stairs again until I reached the garden.I stood in front of Fenris, sitting on the cemented chair beside the fountain. He looked at his phone as he shrugged. "Just on time; nearly good." My stomach felt like an earthquake. "I'm hungry. Can we eat first?" "No. That's the consequence of waking up late and not showing up right on time. You'll eat after the training." I glared at him and ended up pouting. He had been really cruel for the past few days; a lot stricter and more serious when it was about training. "What kind of werewolf are you?" I crossed my arms. "You're gonna allow your mate to die in hunger just because." My head remained high, looking up at him. Why didn't I grow taller? His height was making me look small. His thick right brow raised as he clenched his jaw. He was in his short-tempered, strict mood again. I managed to just stare
"Oh about that, you saw Gonzalo earlier?" Fenris wiped his lips with a tissue when his mouth looked oily; it added more lusciousness to his lips though. It looks good. Why am I even thinking about that? Damn Kira!"Ah... Gonzalo? Who's Gonzalo?"He checked his phone before looking back at my eyes. "He's the one you bumped into a while ago. You're supposed to meet him today but something personal occurred to him so he told me that he'll just gonna come back here maybe tomorrow or the next day.""I'm supposed to meet him?" I furrowed. "Why? What's gonna be his role in my transformation?"He looked away. The movement of his adam's apple showed how he was hesitating to say something. Is there something I need to know that he's not saying?"We'll talk about that tomorrow or some other time.""Come on! I'm curious. Say it to me now." I frowned. He slightly smiled even without his eyes moving; what a faked smile! "I'm still unsure about it so I'm gonna talk you through when I'm done thinking
The next thing I knew, I found myself laying on the lawn, naked. My head was still spinning when I looked around, seeing my dress shred on the floor. "Kira!" I could barely move I just lay there, staring at the night sky until Fenris' face showed up. He was looking so worried while my eyes were almost closing in heaviness. My breath would often be off and then come back for a minute, then off again. "What happened, Kira?" He asked caressing my hair out of my face. I felt like I was staring at the stars through his eyes. Despite my weakening body and sight, I saw how light and beautiful his eyes were. "Kira!" I exhaled a large amount of breath before I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him down to me. My naked body felt the warmth of his skin but I didn't seem to mind. Finally, I felt safe. I was so scared a while ago and all I could think of was his name because I knew for a fact that I needed him. I squeezed my eyes close letting the excess tears fall on my cheeks, s
"Seriously?" My lips parted at him.He just nodded. I looked down on my lap as I played with my fingers. "Is that how you despise the idea of marrying me?" I thought we already established a good bond even just for the convenience thing. I couldn't blame him after all He never liked me. It was normal for him to desire to escape the responsibility he never wished for. I don't know why my heart is aching though, damnit. "I don't despise you, Kira." "You don't have to pretend. I see it." My lips thinned as I nodded. "I feel it." "Kira, it's not that..." He gasped. "I just thought if you could have a choice, you'd prefer someone else than me. You always pinpoint how short-tempered I am and Gonzalo, Gonzalo is more patient than me, more understanding, and more friendly." "As if it isn't obvious." I rolled my eyes. "Yeah, I know. That's what everyone says about us, anyway he offered us a proposal and I found it unfair if I wouldn't even let you have the chance to choose." I looked
My mouth was frozen in seconds until I blew a hard laugh. "I thought you have humour. Why didn't you get my joke?""Too bad, you're not joking." He rolled his eyes. My lips thinned. Is it that obvious? I shrugged, acting unbothered but I caught myself floating on cloud nine while I stare at his glittering gold eyes with his messy hair that he often stroked with his fingers. His oversized black tank top made him extra good, showing his perfectly masculine arms."See? You're distracted again." He smirked.I blink multiple times. I pinched my waist, gathering the right senses I should obtain right now. I was about to go on a battle; I shouldn't be floating like I was some kind of a butterfly."Can we just start? Shall we?" I puffed a breath."Sure, but first I'll give you the credits for arriving on time today. It's your first time not being late. Congrats, Kira." He offered his hand.I glared at it but then on I wanted to feel his big palm so I shook my hand with him until he gripped t
A few days passed and luckily, I was still seeing the sunshine and moonlight. Fenris didn't kill me but I could feel that he was still somehow considering my suggestion. Nonetheless, our routine has been the same for almost two weeks and my body was drained from our continuous training every single freaking day plus I didn't fail to attend my classes and he didn't fail to pick me up and drive me home from time to time. "Is Nazarus still sticking his ass around you?" He asked while his eyes were on the road, driving. His one elbow was resting on the aisle of the window while his other hand was on the steering wheel, looking so chill. "Not his ass," I answered sarcastically. Ever since the day that I punched him in the face and asked him to just kill me, I've been avoiding him. But since he was my driver when going to university, I have no escape. "I'm serious, Kira. Is he still hanging around with you?" His hand on the steering wheel tightened its grip. I leaned my face at the wind
My brows crossed with his question. All my life I had never felt something different in my senses. Weird feelings just started occurring to me when Vilka bit me; just like a while ago when my head twitched its veins and I saw bright lightening 'til my imagination went to Fenris and Nazarus' past. It was a wild guess that turned out to be factual. "Yes, I'm just an ordinary human 'till I met you." I was positively sure. "You're welcome," he sarcastically said. "But how come your guess was so accurate? Are you hiding something from me?" I chuckled in a sarcastic tone. "What am I gonna hide?" I shook my head. "Maybe I'm just good at guessing. I have read books about werewolves so my imagination played with me and I won." I stuck my tongue out, teasingly. "You're gonna let me win in our training; that's the deal." He rolled his eyes and shook his head before he continued eating. His brows were still kinda crossed like he was thinking deeply about something like he was analysing a math
They continued talking about the mystery happening around. They discussed some possibilities and presented theories about what could be the reason for everything. I puffed a breath, trying not to be intimidated by all the information I absorbed while being quiet. I stared at Vilka, knowing that she was no longer inside that wolf form. Whoever was controlling her was definitely a devil, perhaps it could be the Darkesta nor something more unexpected. "Anyway, are you sure it's okay to leave Vilka with you for the meantime?" Finally, Fenris' changed the topic. "We'll be in Texas for about two to three days. I can't postpone this any longer." He gasped as he glanced at me. "With all the mystery happening around, Kira and I need to get married as soon as possible to avoid more conflicts. I can't take the chance of her being stuck in a werewolf form like my sister. Now that she unexpectedly transformed once, it isn't impossible to happen again." His fingers stroke his messy brown hair. "W
I swallowed deeply after seeing some backpacks and winter clothes that they had prepared for us. My mind was roaring everywhere, and I couldn't even sink in the information Guardian Leo was saying to me.My chest was thudding so loud, and all I could think of was I wasn't ready. I didn't expect everything to happen this quick. We rode horses to travel the cold land, and I couldn't stop glancing at Fenris every time I would think of backing up. I sighed deeply and tried gathering courage from I didn't even know where I could actually get one. Perhaps, the look of Fenris reassuring me was enough. We arrived at the strange mountain ranges, and from there, we teleported to the icy plateau on top of the hill. My hands were trembling under my gloves. Fenris held me while we were looking around the place, examining the surroundings."I don't understand," I muttered. "I can't see anything but icy mountains. Where could be the location of Darkesta's territory?"I hugged myself when the strong
What happened that night was still hunting me to this day — it had been two weeks and up until now, we were still thinking of the purpose of why Darkesta's little dogs suddenly attacked us."Claude is dead."When Fenris brought me that news, I was stunned. I thought I would be happy to hear those words but then again, I remembered he was once my friend. Even though it wasn't really for him, it was real for me and Lilien."They decided to kill him after he almost successfully transformed himself into his wolf form," he added.I sipped on my cup of coffee while my heart was still feeling unsafe. Darkesta was not only the devil, he was intelligent and whatever he was plotting against us could be the real end of our kind. I was just so frightened by that thought."What about Vilka? Do you believe her?" I asked before sipping on my coffee again.Vilka explained to us why she suddenly disappeared from the mansion a minute after our soldiers had traced foot tracks of Dark Summoners. She said
My jaw tightened as my claws gripped tighter on the ground. I stepped back, lowering my body while gazing at the three creepy humanoid wolves. They were standing on their two legs, and it made them look more monstrous. I prepared myself for a possible attack."Calm down!" The humanoid wolves were almost laughing in my ears. I didn't know they could talk to us through the mind link. "You seem to be too threatened to us. Don't make it so obvious, I suggest." The humanoid wolf in the middle kept blubbering, sounding so boastful.I glared at them deeper as I hissed. Fenris was looking much more eager. I could even hear his blood boiling so hard.Fenris howled. "What do you want from us?!" He also spoke through mind-link. The humanoid wolf on the left side chuckled like a playful yet annoying child. "You know what we want. "We will never surrender to your greedy master, you asshole!" Fenris fired back while he was scratching his pointed claws on the ground with his sharp teeth showing.
My heart thundered as Fenris' eyes and mine met. "Stay here," he commanded."What? No—" He got out of the room without letting me finish my words. I gulped before I rushed to follow him downstairs. Noises were coming from outside the mansion and when we finally exited the house, I saw some soldiers talking and discussing some things. In contrast, others were spread around the huge house, they were anticipating something, and my heart was thudding continuously for what could be it."What the hell is going on?!" Fenris exclaimed, and finally, he caught the soldiers' attention."We saw tracks of Dark Summoners leading to this place—""I know, but did you see them? How the hell did they get here without anyone sensing them?"Strange. Even I didn't sense the unwelcomed scent of humanoid wolves. "Alpha Fenris, I checked Vilka in her room, but she isn't there." A maid approached him."What?! What does she have to do with any of this? Are you sure she didn't sleep in her own house?"The mai
I swallowed deeply, convincing myself they were nothing but friends just like me and Nazarus — come on!"Yes, my cousins are regaining their strengths, thankfully."I cleared my throat before I stood properly and composed myself. My elbows hit some leaves, and I immediately noticed how quickly their eyes turned into me. "Oh, Kira!" Atasha chuckled awkwardly. "My cousins would want to give you and your mother this." She handed me two necklaces with a fang pendant."Really?" I still couldn't figure out how to interact with her. I never wanted to be fake or plastic or whatever they call it. "Yes, they've been planning to come here, but they are still regenerating their strengths — maybe next week they could thank you personally.""Oh, that's nice." I grabbed the necklaces from her soft hand. "Tell your cousins not to worry, and we appreciate their gifts and their gratitude." I glanced at Fenris, and he slightly smiled at me. My lips just thinned.I wanted to ask what they were talking
We arrived in the woods right on time while the Sun was about to rise. Good thing, the soldiers arrived earlier than us. They seemed responsible and dedicated to their tasks. We stayed near the river for a couple of hours. Fenris had been discussing something with the soldiers. They were plotting a plan while I was on the lookout for the busy group. Surprisingly, no Dark Summoners attempted to attack us. I was quite anticipating the action now, but perhaps it really was better for them not to attack or anything. The damage they could cause was too much, for sure.Since we saw no sign of attack, Fenris and I decided to go back to the mansion. He instructed the leader to inform us once anything unfortunate occurred. While we walked our way back to our house, the soldiers stayed in the woods as it was one of their duty — to guard and observe the forest. The next day was a really bad day for me. I work up without Fenris on my side. Since my body was so heavy and even my eyes, I didn't no
Nazarus just shrugged and started walking to the exit of the mansion. He looked back at me and gestured to me to follow him. I rolled my eyes before walking. I watched Nazarus back while walking. It was only at that time I noticed how neat and elegant he walked. Every step of him was really careful — I laughed at the thought of why we waste our time walking if we could just teleport. Fenris's deep gaze met mine when we reached the gate. "What did you do?* His brows crossed at Nazarus.I snaked my arm over Fenris' arm. "Where are we going?" I asked.Fenris remained to stare at Naz. Naz laughed and shook his head. "Chill! I went to the restroom and walked past her in the living room.""Where are we going, Fenris?" I asked again.Fenris finally looked at me. "You'll see."I rolled my eyes before looking at Nazarus. "Where are we going, Naz?""You'll see." He mocked Fenris.Fuck them!I crossed my arms over my chest and just followed them. We walked for a few minutes until we reached M
Slowly, the estranged man opened his eyes and quickly met mine. "You're gonna die… you're all going to die…." His huge black pupils trembled on my chest. I took a deep breath as my chest tightened.Fenris kicked the man before he stepped on his chest. "Don't listen to him." He tightened the grip of his feet on the man's chest, stiffening the Dark Summoners' human body."What do you want from us, huh?!"The man smiled strangely and slowly, he chuckled like a devil. "You're all gonna die…." He breathed out before coughing after Fenris squeezed his chest more with his feet."Fuck you! You're the one who's going to die today." Fenris grabbed his dagger and sliced the Dark Summoner's head off. I flinched and stepped back as the blood splashed everywhere. I covered my mouth. I was used to seeing brutality, but I couldn't still stop to be shocked at times."Why did you kill him? We could get information—""Do you think he will say something?" Fenris cut me off. "Think of him as Claude. He wi
Fenris raised his right brow. "You're talking about me?" "Oh, it's not important." Nazarus shrugged his hand. "Don't think too much about it."My lips thinned when Fenris glared at me. "What?" I arched a brow. "I just told him you don't like plucking the flowers in the garden."Fenris looked at the flower in my hand. I thought he was going to get it to me, but he just turned his gaze back at Fenris."What it is with the flowers that you're always giving to my wife, huh?"Nazarus raised both of his hands as if surrendering. "Just a nice gesture, calm down.""Nice gesture." Fenris scoffed. "Bullshit.""Fenris." I cleared my throat."Anyway, Fenris," Nazarus uttered. "It's perfect timing that you're here. I have to discuss something with you."Fenris' brows crossed, and so mine."About what?"Nazarus glanced at the mansion. "Can we talk inside?""Why? Can't you discuss that here?" Fenris sounded more disgusted yet intrigued.Naz looked around. "You won't wanna risk someone hearing our
