Sarita gasped. "That is very very bad." She reprimanded him.
"I was looking for her password." He said. "It's nice to finally meet you, Anushka." He held out his hand to her.
Sarita stared at his hand in awe then she looked at his face before she shook his hand shyly. She gasped when she felt a tingling sensation run up her arm and she quickly withdrew her hand from his.
"Um... It's nice finally meeting you too, Vikrant Suryavanshi." She smiled.
"I'll call you Anu from now on, okay? It's Anu for me and only me." He informed her.
"Um... Okay." Sarita blushed harder, if it were possible.
"You can call me Mayank. Only my dad calls me Mayank, seeing as he's also Vikrant. I don't want you to call me what others call me." He told her. "If you call me Vikrant, I won't answer you."
"Why not? It's your name, is it not?" She angled her head to study his face.
"Yes, but I don't want you to call me Vikrant." He reiterated.
"Like we're friends?" She wondered.
"Yes." He nodded.
"Okay." She nodded.
She wanted to slap herself to see if she was probably dreaming but she refrained from doing so. She couldn't believe she was talking to Vikrant Suryavanshi! The object of every girl's desire. Minus her of course. He was so nice too.
"I'm anything but nice, Anu." He told her as if reading her mind. "I am very mean." He eyed her over. "You're just... Special."
Sarita felt as if she'd faint when she heard that. No boy had ever called her special even though he was just meeting her. And here she was, speaking negatively about herself this morning.
"You're drooling." Vikrant's amused voice brought her out of her reverie.
Sarita gasped and quickly checked her mouth then she narrowed her eyes at him which made him chuckle. "I don't drool." She muttered.
"Let's get started." He smirked at her.
"Um... You know I can't learn it in one day right?" Sarita inquired.
"I'm sure I'll have something you can help me with later. Sit." He ordered.
"So bossy." She pouted but did as he said.
"You've not seen anything yet." He said.
After the violin lesson, the bell rang for the end of lunch which made her sad because she'd been enjoying the lesson. He'd been very patient with her even when she'd almost poked his eye out with the bow.
She had history class but he wasn't letting her leave and she didn't want to hurt his feelings by rushing off.
"So... Can I have your phone number?" He asked.
"Sure." She was surprised but elated that he wanted her number. Even if he wasn't going to call her after school hours or anything like that.
Vikrant brought out his phone and handed it to her after he unlocked it so she could type her number in and saved it when she returned the phone to him.
"What are you having now?" He asked.
"History."
"Ah, Mr Bradley." He nodded. "Pop quiz? It's Wednesday."
"Yes. How do you know?"
"Everyone knows Mr Bradley and his Wednesday pop quizzes." He said. "Guess I'll see you around."
"See you." Sarita waved and quickly left.
She got to her history class and was happy that Bradley was not yet in but immediately she took her seat, he walked in and ordered everyone to put their phones on silent and into the basket on his table which made them groan but they did as he said.
After school, Sarita waited for Kaly by their lockers and she showed up. She was holding a red lollipop which she stuck into her mouth immediately she got the wrapper off.
"Babe, is it true you talked to Vikrant today?" Kaly asked.
"Yeah. Why?"
"Was he mean to you?" Kaly demanded. "If he was, tell me so I can go beat his stupid ass."
Sarita chuckled. "No, he was actually very nice to me. He taught me how to play the violin, called me his friend and said he'd be the only one to call me Anushka."
Kaly's eyes widened. "What? How did he know your middle name?" Kaly questioned. "No one else apart from me and your family knows it."
"He might have... read your diary?" Sarita replied in a small voice.
"What?!" She exclaimed. "Oh, that boy is so dead!"
"Please don't tell him I told you. I don't want him to get mad at me." Sarita pleaded.
Kaly sighed. "Okay." She nodded. "So, do you like him?" She winked at Sarita.
"Like him? But I just met him." Sarita frowned. Surely, there was a time limit for realizing that you liked someone whom you met not quite long. Maybe a month or two? Certainly not after meeting the person for a few minutes.
Kalyani rolled her eyes. "BS! So? You've never actually talked to Raj except that one time and you fell for him." She said,
Sarita sighed. Kalyani Singh could try the patience of a saint. "I didn't fall for Raj, Kaly. Having a crush is different from falling for someone."
"Can you honestly tell me, that after three years of pining for Raj that you do not love him?" Kaly whispered.
"Love?" Her brows furrowed. "I don't think I love Raj. I only have a crush on him."
"You, my dear friend, are the queen of denial." Kaly patted her shoulder. "When you have a crush on someone, it means that you like the person. Same thing." She flicked her hair behind her. "But you can like him right? Vikrant?"
"Why are we discussing my feelings for your cousin like it's the weather?" She arched her brow.
Kalyani let out a sigh. "He doesn't show it but I know Vikrant is very lonely despite having a million friends, so I was thinking that... maybe if he had a girlfriend, he wouldn't be so lonely." Kaly told her.
"You're a very weird one, Kalyani Singh." Sarita tutted. "In his face, you insult him but here you are trying to work your matchmaking skills on me for him. Make up your mind sweetheart."
"About what?" Kaly feigned ignorance.
"Whether you love him or hate him".
"Nice try honey." Kaly slipped her arm around Sarita's neck as they made their way to the entrance. "What a nice way to change the subject."
"Well, he doesn't like me in that way and I'm one trillion percent sure he will never do so." She said, "Besides, there are prettier girls in school for him to choose from."
"You need to get over this 'I'm not beautiful but pretty phase of yours, Rita. I'll tell you again, that you're the most beautiful girl in this school. Dare I say, the whole of Cardenia."
Sarita rolled her eyes. "I like how you flatter me, Kaly, but no thanks." She smiled. "What about you and Divya then? Remember that you won the beauty pageant for Most beautiful girl in Castleton Cross three times."
"I could ask Vikrant." Kaly shot her a mischievous grin. "He never lies."
"Is that possible?" Sarita was stunned. "There is not one soul on this earth that does not lie.""Not Vikrant." Kaly's grin widened."I don't believe you." Her eyes narrowed. "Don't ask him.""You know I will." Kaly winked.Sarita knew she couldn't talk her friend out of it so she gave up. "Just don't tell me what he says."Kaly stared at her friend. "You're so..." She paused. "Grrr!" She bared her teeth.Sarita laughed. "You love me anyway." She smiled cheekily at her."Unfortunately." Kaly mumbled.*******Kalyani's smile widened as Vikrant grudgingly sat down in front of his laptop with a death glare directed at her but she wasn't intimidated. He refused to pick her calls so she'd decided to do a video call."If you'd only picked my calls then I wouldn't have to see your ugly face." She told him. "So deal with it.""This better be important." He growled. He'd had to pause his video game to answer her summons. If he didn't, she'd never let him hear the last of it. Her sister was now
Sarita stood by her locker, deep in thought, staring at the picture of Rajveer that she'd pasted on the door of her locker and didn't notice Vikrant standing behind her. "Boo!" He yelled in her ear. "Goddess!" She jumped and slammed her locker door shut in fright, only for it to catch her pinky finger and she yelped. "I'm so sorry." He apologized. "Let me see." He took her hand in his to examine it. Her finger was red and it was bleeding from the cut she'd sustained. "It's... It's fine." She muttered and withdrew her hand. "Don't be silly." He chided and took her hand again, firmly this time in his. "I know it hurts like a bitch so it's not fine." Then he surprised her by putting her finger in his mouth. Sarita gasped and with wide eyes, looked around and saw students staring at her then at Vikrant in horror. "What... What are you doing, Mayank?" She whispered, tugging at her hand. "Stop." Vikrant didn't release her hand until he wanted to and even then, he still held on a lit
He shouldn't want to be with her every time but he couldn't help himself. He knew she probably had a crush on his best friend but he didn't want to care. Girls only wanted two things from him; money and sex and he was tired of being seen as a walking dollar sign. He wanted something different and Sarita was different. Sarita was a fast learner as she immediately played the tune he'd taught her not even a minute ago and got it right. She smiled big at him after she was done and he fought the urge to pull her into his arms and kiss her. "You're so fucked, Suryavanshi." He thought grimly. "About the concert thing... you're not lying to me, are you, Mayank?" She asked. "I mean..." "I don't lie." He cut her off. "I'd show it to you but the pictures are on my laptop. I lost my phone at that same concert but I was able to get everything back." "And the only way to see these pictures is... how exactly?" "Will you be at my party this Saturday? I could show you." He said. "I don't like
A knock on Vikrant's bedroom door brought him out of his reverie and he got out of bed, padded barefoot to the door and opened it."Hey son." It was his father."Hey dad." He left the door open and walked back into the room. "When did you get back?""A little while ago." Rohan Suryavanshi had named his son after him and not to confuse anyone else about the names, decided to use his middle name which was Rohan after his son was born. "How are you?"Vikrant plopped down on the sofa in front of his bed with a sigh. "I'm fine dad.""Are you really?" Rohan arched a brow as he settled down on the wingback chair facing the floor to ceiling window."To be honest, I don't know." Vikrant replied. "I'm bored out of my mind and I have a thousand and one things on my mind.""Like what? It helps to talk about whatever is on your mind." His father offered."I'm sure you have something more important to do than listen to me talk.""Son...""I am not accusing you of anything dad." Vikrant was quick to
"It's Mayank's birthday today?" Sarita asked Kalyani as they passed by Vikrant's locker and saw the gifts piled up in front of the door."Tomorrow." Kaly replied. She stopped in front of the pile, took out a brown envelope from her backpack, opened it and pulled out a blown up picture. "Hey guys!" She called the attention of the students."What are you doing?" Sarita questioned."This is me saying a happy happy birthday to my dear cousin Vikrant Suryavanshi!" She turned then proceeded to paste the blown up picture on his locker door."Oh my gosh!" Girls screamed when they saw what it was. It was a baby picture of Vikrant being bathed by Kalyani's mother and he was making funny faces at her. He couldn't have been more than two or three years old.Sarita was pushed around as the students tried to get closer to the picture but Kalyani warded them off. She wanted Vikrant to see this and know that, although her revenge was childish but she got it anyway."He's going to be raving mad once h
"So, you're not having a random party this time." Sarita said. "It's your birthday tomorrow. Why didn't you tell me?"Vikrant shrugged. "It didn't come up in our conversations.""You invited me to it but you didn't say it was your birthday." She said in an accusing tone. "I don't think I have the time to get you a present now.""Your presence at my party would be a better present." He said."Are you always this smooth, Mr Suryavanshi?" She teased.Vikrant laughed. "Is it working?""You'll have to be more convincing than that." Sarita grinned."You'll be at my party tomorrow." He told her."Overconfident?" She arched her brow."Not really." He said. "But it's something I know. Here we are." He stopped in front of room 202."Mrs Newton will be so mad." Sarita muttered as she peered into the class through the glass. "She hates tardy students.""I'll talk to her." He knocked on the door before Sarita could stop him and opened the door.Twenty something pairs of eyes turned to look at him
"Why didn't you tell me Vikrant Suryavanshi invited you to his party?" Jevan asked Sarita as they ate breakfast."Um... I'm not going." Sarita said. "It's movie night today.""You can go." Jevan sighed. He'd given his word and he couldn't back out now."Really?" Sarita was surprised. "Can I go?""Yes. But you must be back by 10pm." Jevan told her. "Not even five minutes after 10.""Okay! thank you papa." Sarita beamed. "How did you know?""Mr Suryavanshi almost begged me to let you attend the party. He probably didn't want his son to be sad on his birthday." Jevan shook his head. "I had to put him out of his misery.""Yes, I've heard that he'd do anything to make his son happy." Priya spoke up. "Is it true he broke his engagement with Priyanka Arora?""Yes. His son didn't like her for him so they broke up." Jevan replied.Vikrant Mayank Suryavanshi was, who you'd call daddy's boy or better yet a son after his father's heart. He'd grown up without his biological mother and had lived wi
Sarita became nervous as Michael drove up the driveway to Vikrant's house. It was a gorgeous estate and she couldn't begin to say where it started or ended. Expensive cars lined up in front of them in a queue as their owners alighted from them, threw the keys to the valets and made their way up the stairs and into the house through the open doors. It was Michael's turn finally so he alighted, threw his keys to the valet and went to help Kaly out of the car while another opened the back door for Sarita. Samishka had decided to leave on her own because she wanted to pick up two of her friends but Sarita didn't know if she'd arrived.Sarita felt like a fraud dressed in her designer outfit and gorgeous boots. Kaly had done makeup for her even though she'd originally declined but after she saw herself in the mirror, she appreciated how she turned out. Her lips were painted blood red and instead of the purple off shoulder top, she'd donned a red one to match her lipstick."Don't fuss." Kal
Samishka Singh stood in front of the buffet table wondering what to eat. There were different assorted dishes and desserts laid out for the guests to choose from but she was finding it hard to pick a specific dish. It was her youngest cousin Vikrant Suryavanshi's wedding and anyone who was somebody in Cardenia was in attendance. She snorted as she vaguely remembered that two years ago, Vikrant Suryavanshi would never have expected to find himself a married man before he turned twenty or worse be a father to two adorable gorgeous boys. But here he was, two years later, happily married to her little sister Kalyani's best friend Sarita Madhav. Now known as Sarita Suryavanshi. "Love... Look what you made him do." She muttered. They'd had an Indian wedding and this one was a church wedding. "Are you going to stare at the canapés all day or take a bite from them?" An amused male voice questioned beside her. Sam turned to face the newcomer and her breath hitched in her throat when she saw
They were married. She was his wife but Vikrant still felt very nervous as he stood at the altar waiting for Sarita to walk in. Her father had not been very happy after they told him that they intended to wed in the church after their traditional wedding but he'd given his consent, agreeing to walk her down the aisle. He straightened his jacket, checked his cuffs as the pianist began to play the wedding march song and almost wiped the sweat off his brows but he caught himself and silently cleared his throat. His breath hitched in his throat as the doors opened and Kaly walked in holding a small bouquet of peonies, followed by the ring bearer; Michael's cousin Sean and the flower girl and finally his bride appeared with her father. The walk to the altar took forever but he didn't mind as all he thought of was how gorgeous she was in the embroidered tulle wedding dress with a sweetheart neckline that she was wearing. He thought that he was a very lucky bastard because she was his to h
Vikrant stared at his ex-best friend's face in shock. He couldn't have heard him correctly, right? "Unfortunately, Divya beat you to it." Vikrant said. "Why are you telling me this?" "I can't... I can't do this anymore. I've not been able to sleep or study. I want things to go back to the way they were." Raj replied. "I came here to ask for your forgiveness, Vikrant." He dropped to his knees. "Please forgive me." Tears sprang to Vikrant's eyes as he stared at his former best friend on his knees. He'd cherished his friendship with Raj and he'd even thought of him as his brother from another mother, but he'd been the only one with the clear conscience in that relationship. He was eternally grateful to Kaly for exposing Divya and whose betrayal made him see Raj for who he really was. He was starting a new chapter in his life. He was a father and soon to be husband to the most wonderful girl in the world. He didn't want to bring his past into his future so he had to sever all ties w
Three weeks later Tears streamed down Sarita's cheeks when she walked into Vikrant's hospital room and saw him awake. The first week had been a rollercoaster ride for her as his blood pressure had dropped all of a sudden and the doctors had fought really hard to bring it back up. She'd been in school when she got a call from his father that he'd woken up and was asking to see her, so she'd gotten a leave from school and came straight to the hospital in the car his father had sent for her. She settled down on the chair his father had been sitting on and moved it closer to the bed, clasped his hand in hers and raised it to her lips. "You scared me to death, Mayank." She accused amidst tears. "I thought I'd never see you again." "I'm sorry." His smile was faint and his voice hoarse. His face was regaining its pallor but he still looked pale. "Don't ever try that again. Do you understand?" She hit him gently. "I forbid you." "Are you hitting a patient, Anushka? A very sick one at
Raj stopped in his tracks when he saw the crowd gathered in front of the music room and his brows furrowed. He moved closer, wondering what was happening but couldn't see anything until he heard Divya's voice calling out Vikrant's name. He fought his way to the front and froze when he saw the scene; Sarita sitting on the ground in a daze while Divya cradled a bloody Vikrant in her arms. His eyes traveled to the gun on the floor and his heart skipped a beat."Oh, God." He muttered. He was shoved aside as someone rushed into the room and he watched as Kaly rushed over to where the two girls were and knelt down beside Sarita."What's going on here?" The crowd parted for Principal Marek to walk in and he also went still upon seeing the scene. "Call for an ambulance!" He ordered. "Please tell me an ambulance is on the way.""I already did that sir." Michael spoke up."You killed him." Sarita's detached voice made everyone turn to look at her. They knew she was squeamish around blood but s
Two days later "I did tell you that he'd come around, didn't I?" Kaly reminded Sarita as they stopped by her locker during the second period. Kaly's definition of Vikrant 'coming around' was a hello from him and a concerned look. She figured that it was better than behaving like strangers but in Sarita's books, that was nothing. If anything, it made her both anxious and angry wondering when they'd make up. She wasn't scared to admit that she'd missed him like crazy and hoped she wasn't the only one feeling miserable. She inputted the combination for her locker, opened the door and gasped when she saw the flowers and hearts littering her locker. There was a bouquet of red roses, a chocolate box wrapped in red ribbon, a handmade heart-shaped card and a heart-shaped globe that had tiny red hearts floating inside of it and a photo of the two of them smiling at each other. "Oh. My. God." Kaly's jaw dropped open. She grabbed the card, opened it to peruse what was written inside and
He rose to his feet as well. "Are you sure about that?" He arched his brow. He walked up to her, snagged her around her waist, and pulled her flush against him. "Will you stop me if I tell you that all I'm thinking about right now is kissing you senseless. Will you stop me?""I don't want your stupid kiss." She bit out.Behind them, Kaly started singing the Little Mermaid 'kiss the girl' song mimicking the crab's voice. Her antics diffused the tension as Sarita burst out laughing and Vikrant followed suit but instead of them kissing as the song suggested, he wrapped his arms around Sarita and she did the same."Do you still want my stupid kiss?" He whispered in her ear."No." She pulled back. "It'll make me like you again. I don't want to like you again."Vikrant's lips curled up in a half smile. They were going to be good again. He was going to win this fight and get his girl back. Sarita Madhav was his and no one else's."Just... Be careful." She murmured. "Come back."Vikrant chuck
"Not on your life!" Vikrant roared. "Never!""Never?" Karan chuckled softly."NEVER." Vikrant repeated emphatically. "I'd prefer to die than to give them up. They're mine." He took a deep breath to calm himself down and flashed Karan a smile. "Sarita included.""Is that so?" Karan challenged. "Are you sure you want to go down this road?""You got greedy... Friend." Vikrant answered. "You upped the stakes so I'm doing the same. I want all three of them for myself."Karan laughed. "I like your son, Mr Suryavanshi." He told Rohan as he rose to his feet. "He's brave, but I'm sorry to say... Stupid." He seared Vikrant with a death glare. "Friday 5pm, Exodus Arena. Don't be late.""You want to fight with him?" Rohan asked."Fight to the death." Karan said. "Loser relinquishes his rights to the girl and the babies." He sized Vikrant up. "I heard you won the U18 MMA award two years ago and your opponent was a year older than you were - bigger than you were too.""So?""You're not green behind
"What?" Sarita exchanged puzzled glances with Vikrant. "Twins?" "Yes." The doctor nodded. "Hidden twins are common in mono amniotic pregnancies which is true in your case. Your babies are sharing the same sac which would make them identical." "You know, mom thought so too, Sarita." Kaly said. "She was right." "So... They're fine, right?" Vikrant's voice came out a bit shaky. "The fall didn't hurt them?" "Their heartbeats are strong." He assured him. "Baby A seems to weigh more than Baby B but it's not so much that we have to worry." He pointed to the screen to show them the babies' fingers and toes and whatnot. After a lecture from the doctor about safety, Sarita was discharged and they left the hospital. Kaly looped her arm around Sarita's as they waited for Vikrant who'd gone to the restroom to come back so they could leave. "I'm so happy for us, Rita." Kaly squeezed her hand lovingly. "Twins! I hope they're both girls." "Absolutely not." Vikrant growled from behind her, havi
