Chapter Six

“You gotta be chill Katherine,she’s just a little girl after all” Kara said after laughing at me

“Kara you don’t get it, her attitude doesn’t come close to that of a little girl” I almost screamed into the phone

“Whatever girl, you got this”

“Phewww! I’m not so sure, I don't even know how to handle her”

“You sure got it Katherine”

“So how do you wanna get the money to your brother?” Kara asked

“I’m not sure, but I really have to cash the check at the bank first but I’m not sure how I can do that with this job”

“I wish I could help somehow”

“I will talk to you later Kara, I think her majesty’s pizza just arrived.

I was right, the pizza had just been delivered and now I have to get her to eat, Hugh!! God did she have to be this rude? Can’t she just be a cute, shy little girl?

I held the pizza in one hand and knocked on her door and thankfully she responded.

“Who is it?”

“It’s Katherine, your pizza is here”

“Alright “

Alright????????? What was that supposed to mean? I wasn’t expecting such a response at all.

I open the door and walked straight at the couch, dropped the pizza on a stood before standing in front of her.

“Lily, you know you don’t have to be this rude right?”

“Isn’t calling someone rude a bad thing to do?”

“Lily….”

“I’m thirsty” she said before I could finish.

I left to get her a glass of water only for her to say she wanted an apple juice instead , really?

I hate that I had to obey her but I was the jobless broke ass that had rent and hospital bills to pay.

“Call me when you’re done eating” i said leaving the room immediately, I walked straight to the kitchen to get a glass of water for myself but almost bumped into someone.

“Hey there, you must be the new nanny” she said with a smile

Finally someone that smiles in this house.

“Yea, I’m Katherine” I smiled back

“I’m Amelia, I’m one of the housekeepers around here” she responded

“Ohh, nice. I just need a glass of water” I said walking towards the dispenser.

“So how is it with Lily” she asked

“Lily, she’s all good, great” I said before downing the water. she chuckled

“We both know that’s a lie” she said

“What do you mean?”

“Katherine, everyone in this mansion knows how lily is so you don’t have to lie” she said amused

I wasn’t convinced I could trust her so I pried further

“What do you mean Amelia?”

“Well she’s a pretty rude brat and has been making sure to get her Nannie’s fired” she explained almost in a whisper

“Really?” I asked curiously

“Yes, she hates nannies , you see. She thinks she’s can handle herself since she turned six “

“Ohh”

“No nanny has lasted more than a week since her last birthday” she added

Well, she doesn’t have to bear with me for a week, I will be leaving once Edward is back anyways.

“So she’d always act up or make lies up so the Nannie’s end up resigning”

“See you around Amelia” I said as I left the kitchen. I'm sure she has more to say but I need to figure out a way to send money for my brother’s treatment. Maybe I could take Lily with me.

“Lily, would you like to step outside the mansion?” I asked as I watched her pretend to read a book she held. Her eyes lit up immediately

“Really?”

“Yes, I need to go somewhere important but I can’t leave you all by yourself” I said honestly

“First off, I can take good care of myself. I’m not a kid anymore” she said looking offended

“Who said you’re still a kid? The only reason I can’t leave you is because I’m being paid to be by your side” i explained

“I don’t know why uncle won’t stop doing that!” She said with a frown

“Doing what?” I asked confused

“Paying people to look after me like I’m still a kid”

Ohh I get it, she thinks turning six makes her a grown up that doesn’t need to be taken care of.

“I’m sure your uncle knows you’re no longer a kid, he just wants you to be safe because he loves you”

“Really?” She asked with a squinted eyebrow

“Of course” I answered

“How would you even know that? Did my uncle tell you that?” She asked

I smiled as I watched her cute confused face, she looked a lot prettier now that she’s not trying to act rude to get me to go away.

“No he didn’t, but if I had a cute child your age, I would employ hundreds of people to pamper and take care of her at all times. It’s called the princess treatment” i explained

“Really?”

“Yes, you’re his princess and that is why he’s making sure you’re treated as such”

“He could have just explained” she frowned

“Maybe he would have if you gave him the chance” I said smiling at her

“My bad” she said, pouting.

“I will get dressed now” she jumped to her her closet with smiles

I hope I don’t get that ride part of her again till her uncle returns.

Lily insisted we had to sneak out of the house because the butler wouldn’t let us go and the last thing I need is him calling Edward and he refused to let me go, I need my brother to get treated as soon as possible.

I followed her lead as we snuck out through the back door, once out of the gate we ran all the way out of the estate.

Lily was so happy that she couldn’t stop laughing, her laugh was contagious so I joined in.

“Oh my gosh Katherine, you’re so cool” she said trying to catch her breath

“And you’re a little rascal, never knew you could run that much” I said to her

We both laughed happily before we boarding a taxi to the bank.

Lily was so happy, trying to see everything going on, she bombarded me with a lot of questions which I was happy to answer.

We went to the hospital next, I paid the money, signed every document the nurse brought before going in to see my brother, Lily was with me all through.

“Who’s he?” She asked in a gentle voice

“Kai, he’s my brother” I answered her

“Why isn’t he talking to us?” She asked

“He’s in a coma, he’s been sick for so long” i explained

“Sorry Katherine, you must be so sad” she said wrapping her small hands around me.

We left the hospital but didn’t go straight home because Lily wanted to get ice cream at her favorite park.

The park she wanted was quite expensive to get into but i wanted to make her happy. We ate our ice cream while sitting on swings and chatting about her favorite cartoon characters.

“I need to use the restroom, Lily. Will you be a good girl and sit right here?” I asked her, scared that she would wander away

“Sure!” She answered smiling.

Who would have thought that today would end up this good with Lily in a happy mood.

I finished up as fast as I could and rushed back to where Lily was. She wasn’t alone anymore, there was a girl around ten years of age standing in front of her, I smiled with the thought that she was making friends but my smiled faded as I heard the other girl spoke,

“I’m pretty sure is another stranger that brought you here and not your mom” she said laughing

Was this girl bullying Lily? I walked straight towards them and cleared my throat dramatically.

“What did you say?” I asked sternly

Lily ran towards me and hugged my legs.

“I’m sorry ma’am, we were just talking” she lied

I bent down to face lily.

“Lily darling, are you okay?” I asked her before turning to the bully.

“Talking? Is that what you’re taught? How can you say such words to another kid”

“I’m sorry ma’am, my mom said she always has Nannie’s around her because she doesn’t have a mom. I’m sorry I didn’t know you’re her mom, I won’t bully her anymore” the girl was shaking all through her body and i pitied her for having a mother that could instigate a child like that.

“Well now you know. Apologize to Lily right now!” I demanded in a stern tone

“Lily, I’m so sorry, I won’t bully you ever again” she apologize looking down

“Shasha, there you are!” A woman said behind me

“Mom!” She said running behind her.

“Hey woman, what did you do to my child?” She yelled

“What are you yelling for?” I asked her.

“What the fuck did you do to my daughter” she asked again

“Your daughter was the one bullying my daughter because you fed her malicious ideas” I fired angrily

“What are you talking about?” She asked

“Ask your daughter woman” I almost yelled

“Mom, that’s Lily from school,” the girl said pointing at us.

Her face paled immediately her daughter mentioned lily’s name.

“Ohhh! Sorry ma’am, this is a misunderstanding….. let’s go shasha”

I hissed as she hurried out dragging her child.

“Wow! You’re so cool Katherine” Lily said, jumping at me in a tight hug.

For a moment, I thought she would be angry I posed as her mom

“Shasha has been bullying me for so long because I don’t have a mom and you just shut her up like that?! Oh you’re so cool Katherine” she said, hugging me tighter.

I was happy seeing her like that, I felt good for saving her from being bullied.

“From now on, anyone that buliies you would have me to deal with, okay?”

“Thanks Katherine….. now I want more ice cream” she said happily.

I smiled realizing the reason she hated having Nannie’s around was because of this girl and her crazy mother.

Just as I thought the day going was going to end smoothly my phone rang with an unknown number flashing across the screen.

I wondered who it could be before picking up the call. Well I regretted the decision immediately as a sharp voice screamed into the phone.

“Where the hell did you take my niece Katherine!!!!!”
