Alexander’s POV
Luke's frown deepened, and something like disbelief crossed his eyes. He didn't expect me to be looking through family trees at a time like this.
Alexander’s POV"I'm going with you!"Jax's voice made me stop dead in my tracks at the foyer door. We were ready to head out to rescue Emily and the other pack members.I called in some help from our neighboring packs, and eight packs had agreed to join us on our mission. They were all waiting for me at the border for orders before we moved out. With a sigh, I turned to look at Jax.I did not want to argue with him because I was the one who brought him here in the first place with Mila's approval. I called the hospital, and on the same day, Jax and his file were released and moved to our infirmary without any problems.I gave the pack doctor instructions to assemble a small medical team to assess Jax's injuries, review the hospital medical report, and provide me with feedback on his evaluation.I have never seen a wolf in such critical condition after a vehicle accident, and to make matters worse, Jax's wolf seemed to be struggling to heal him. Jax's body was severely damaged; he suf
Alexander’s POV"What are they doing?" I asked, peering through the binoculars at an open clearing at the base of the mountain where a few rogue wolves were building a massive bonfire and erecting something like a stage. The camps were left empty when the captured pack members were all brought down to this one isolated spot tucked away among the mountains."That looks like my sister," Luke remarked, pointing to a doorway where the wolves were forced into. He jumped to his feet, and I grabbed hold of his arm, shaking my head."But!" With a growl, he wrenched his arm from my grasp."Not yet," I linked him and gestured to him to get down. "We need to lie low and gather information before we attack."With a sigh, Luke grabbed the binoculars from me and looked through them.Although I had never been here before or even heard of this place, the way the buildings were built gave the impression that they belonged to a fallen wolf pack.My eyes shifted to the massive structure that was only a
Alexander’s POV"Emily can't hold on any longer!" Ghost growled in my head, shoving me aside and seizing command of my physical form. The sound of cracking bones filled the air, and gasps of shock and concern filled my surroundings. The spectators abruptly and surprisingly retreated from me, sensing my unpredictability. The fear and horror in their eyes were visible to me."They appear as if they had just witnessed a ghost." Ghost snickered and extended my arms in front of us. "Time to show the rest of the pack who we really are!"Pack? Was Ghost planning to subdue the other eight Alphas by forcing them to bow down to us?Is he serious right now?A few startled screams broke my stream of thought. However, the horrifying shrieks subsided before they could warn the rogues beneath."Sound boundary," Ghost said proudly, throwing his head back and letting out a howl that was so strong it sent shivers down my spine and brought the pack to their knees."Son," came my dad's voice through the
Emily's POV "I told you he did not care enough for you to come get you." The quiet torture chamber erupted with the sound of Xavier's voice. My nights of hell began when I was moved from the pink bedroom to the basement."Alexander hasn't even left his office to go search for you. He is allegedly busy getting ready for this weekend's Luna Ceremony. It seems like he thinks you have run away."Xavier motioned for the two rogue guards to leave, and they hurried toward the door to leave. They appeared relieved that they were no longer required to keep an eye on me."He will come," I muttered under my breath. "He is not going to leave me here. I know he wouldn't.""Are you certain?" He taunted, taking hold of my chin and forcing me to raise my head to meet his gaze.I had no fight left in me. For the past three days, I have been hanging from the silver chains coming from the roof.I was mentally and emotionally spent, hungry, and dehydrated. My body ached at places I never knew existed, a
Alexander’s POVThe task of attacking the open area below was given to the werewolf packs. They were instructed to create a diversion to lure the rogues out, while the rest of us went around and entered the buildings. It ended up being a bloodbath. Before we even reached the pack house, rogue bodies were scattered around us, covering the surroundings in a river of blood. However, this did not halt the rogue invasion; an increasing number of rogues emerged from all available hellholes, striking from every direction.Compared to the average wolf, they were more skilled in combat."We are surrounded," Ghost grumbled, annoyed. He wasn't scared; he was just irritated that it was going to delay us getting to Emily."Head towards the pack house," my father linked. "Your mother and I will keep them off. Locate Emily and ensure her safety."I hesitated, seeing the rogues stalk closer and nip at my father's tail. That did not sit well with my father's beast, and like magic, a ray of ice materia
Emily's POVThe door swung open with such force that it knocked Xavier off his feet and flung him against the wall. He came crashing down on top of the table with his precious toys.A fierce growl erupted from the entrance, shaking me to my core. This was no normal werewolf at the door."You are too late!" Xavier yelled, stammering to his feet with a silver knife embedded in his side. "She will-""Over my dead body!" The familiar female voice blew some life into me.With all of my remaining strength, I lifted my eyes and looked for my rescuer."Mom?" I whispered. "You came for me?"My mother looked different. She had shifted into a dark gray, almost black Lycan wolf. She was surrounded by a gentle, warm breeze that gave her a mythological appearance as it lazily ruffled her fur. Yet her demeanor looked fearless and strong, and her aura was suffocating. My mother stalked closer to me, reaching out to the shackles around my wrists."Honey, everyone came to find you," she said in a reass
Alexander’s POVThe fighting behind the pack house was getting out of control.Luke had succeeded in releasing me from Axel's grasp. He had flung me to the side like a worthless rag doll, leaving me with an open slash back. Not only was I in terrible pain from the wound on my back, but the poison was also slowly seeping into my veins. I had to shift back into my human form to conserve energy."That is going to leave a hefty scar," Ghost hissed in agony. He was trying his best to heal us, but the process was slow and painful."Battle scars," I replied, with a playful undertone. "This pain is nothing compared to the agony we will be in should we lose our mate."A fierce roar grabbed my attention, and I shifted my gaze toward the sound.Luke's beast was roaming next to me in a protective stance, defending my broken and bleeding body. His posture looked strong and dominant, while his face was twisted with different emotions."He appears... angry," Ghost said."Too angry," I replied. "Whic
Emily's POVI waited for the impact to come. I waited for the sensation of Xavier's claws tearing through my body, taking me with them.My last cry would come from that. The only scream that would ever be heard in this horrifying room. The vile, lethal expression in Xavier's wolf's eyes briefly caught my attention. My soul was deeply pierced by the coldness that resided within him. That was it!My final moments. The last seconds of my life on Earth! At least I had my mom with me.My life abruptly flashed before my eyes in those milliseconds.Do we go to a better place after we die?I regret things so much now.I should never have left the pack after I discovered Alexander to be my mate. If I had stayed and spent more time with him, it would have been better. Life is so short. He will make a wonderful father to Lex.My heart ached thinking of my unborn pup. There was no way he could be hanging on this long. My body was not strong enough, and the agony was too much.I looked up at the c
