As we drove to the Valante’s residence, I replayed the earlier moment and it strangely reminded me of the day I met Gary in that unknown town. I recalled his offer to find a new life outside of the mess I had found myself in.

Back then, I was eager to consider the offer, I might have even said yes if Alessandro had not shown up.

But right now, I don’t mind being in the mess I have found myself in. At this point, it’s almost intriguing that my life has become dramatic in ways I can never predict.

And that was something I never had when I was reckless with life under the roof of my father. Each night was predictable. I knew what would be happening on certain days because my father’s money was enough to control a crowd to do as I wished.

But here, there’s nothing like that.

It’s like I’m in a jungle trying to survive potential attacks from every angle, only that I enjoy being in the jungle.

And the reason I find it enjoyable is all because of this man, Alessandro Valante.
