"The Royal Blood has arrived," the man with piercing features and curly hair declared, his voice shining with an eerie glow. My gaze was instantly drawn to the details of his appearance, and I couldn't help but wonder if his sharp features extended to his fangs.
I found myself trapped in this dark fort, yet I couldn't bring myself to panic. Instead, I held onto the hope that this was all just a nightmare and I would soon wake up at the front desk with my mother scolding me.
But then, the man spoke to me, snapping me back to reality. "How did you find your way here?"
"I didn't. I was running away from someone," I whispered, my hand fidgeting nervously in my lap.
The man hummed as he began to pour a crimson liquid into a golden chalice. "Tea?" he offered with a sinister smile, revealing his fangs.
I shivered at the thought of drinking human blood and desperately hoped that it was animal-based, but I knew all too well that creatures like him preferred their blood freshly drawn from their host.
Vampire.
The man chuckled at my obvious fear. "It seems like you've been under someone's dark magic. This tea will help clear that away. It's not what you think it is. An Azolla tea will bring back your senses."
I didn't know whether to trust him or not, but something inside me urged me to drink the tea. I fake a smile and reluctantly reached for the cup.
As I drank the tea, I felt a strange sensation in my tongue, as if it was going numb. I thought for sure I was going to die from some sort of explosion, but to my surprise, I was still alive.
"That wasn't so bad─" I didn't get to finish my sentence before I was suddenly gasping for air, as if something was trying to escape from me.
"Let it out, Aria," the man instructed, as I collapsed to the ground, suffocating. I clawed at my throat, feeling like I was being controlled.
And then, a familiar voice yelled, "Kai." The sound of the door slamming shut made me jump, even as I struggled to catch my breath.
"Oh, Jax? Do you perhaps want to donate your alpha blood to me?" the man taunted, as the arguing in the background became a faint murmur. I was too busy retching to care about their petty squabbles.
"Help," I croaked, my head splitting and my eyes bulging with pain. I gagged repeatedly, but nothing came out. I could only find relief by emptying my stomach.
"What are you doing to her?" the same man from before demanded, his tone calm but menacing.
"She is my other half," the man with curly hair replied, as the arguing resumed in the background. I continued to retch, the echoes of their voices growing louder and more irritated.
And then, finally, I was free.
Everything stopped when I heard the same voice appearing out of nowhere. I immediately gasp for air as I let my body fall to the ground. My head is spinning from what felt like an eternity of hell in just seconds. As I let my mind take control, the ceiling appeared to be moving, then suddenly, something made me focus on not dying instead of dying.
Ugh.
A searing grip on both of my shoulders jolts me awake. I look up to see Jax, his voice trembling with concern. "Aria, I'm sorry. What did he make you drink? Tell me so I can kill him." He slowly lifts me back onto the sofa, but his intention remains unclear.
Before I can utter a word, I feel a sharp force piercing my chest.
"I'm not alone," echoes a voice in my mind.
In terror, I catch a glimpse of what appears to be a silver blade. "S-Stop!" I scream out.
"What is it?!" Jax exclaims.
"She has a silver dagger buried in her heart," Kai, the vampire, reveals with his eyes fixed on the dagger.
"I can't see it. You're lying!" Jax panics, frantically searching my body for the dagger.
"I'm not alone," the voice in my head repeats.
The stinging pain intensifies as Jax's aggressive movements shift the position of the dagger. "Please stop moving," I plead.
"How come I can't see it?!" Jax demands.
"Only a vampire can see the dagger," Kai explains.
"Why can I see it?" I grunt in pain, staring at the silver blade. I try to move, but something is pushing the dagger deeper. Jax looks at me as if I'm crazy for screaming while something is lodged in my heart.
"Precious, it seems like you know nothing about yourself," Kai sneers, locking his eyes with mine and showing no mercy.
"Stop calling her precious," Jax growls.
Kai walks away, his heavy footsteps the only sound in the room. "She's your mate? I heard you rejected most of your mates. Playing with mine won't help ease our relationship," he taunts.
The pain subsides as I watch Jax, his fists and jaw clenched in anger, veins popping out of his neck. "Don't start with me, Kai," he warns.
"The one who can remove the dagger is worthy of being her mate. One cannot be tied to two creatures at once. If we're both her mate, then..." Kai pauses, turning his head to us with a smirk on his lips.
"One of us is lying."
ARIA"The Royal blood is here."The pale man with interesting sharp features and curly hair said in a luminous tone. My attention immediately fell focused on the details of his face. Fangs?Instead of wailing my way out of here, my consciousness finds comfort in this dark fort. I know he isn't human based on his flawless body structure, dead eyes, and dark place. To all the things I encountered today, the only thing I wish right now is for everything to be a dream. I hope I'll wake up at the front desk with my mother fuming in anger by my side."How did you find your way here?" The man asked me, which helped kick some life back to my senses."I didn't. I was running away from someone..." I whisper the last part. My hand keeps on fidgeting as it lays uncontrollably on my lap.He hums as he begins to pour what appears to be blood—a scarlet liquid—onto a golden chalice."Tea?" He offers. His slight smile sent vast waves of shivers down my spine. I was right. He has fangs.I shiver and bite my lip at the idea of unintentionally ingesting human blood. It might be animal-derived, yet I am aware that creatures like him prepare freshly drawn blood from the host.A vampire. The man quietly laughed as he poured more tea into a cup and gently shook his head. "It felt like you were under someone's black magic; this tea would help you clear that evil energy away. This is not what you believe it is. An Azolla tea will help you regain your senses."I do not know whether to trust him or not. We barely know each other. The last time I tried to talk or run away from someone, I fell into different places.I fake a smile, feeling the tension rise, "I'll have to pass on this." His grin gradually turns into a melancholy gaze."If you are in my place, you need to cleanse the dark magic placed upon you." He pointed above my head, which made me look up, and saw nothing."Only I can see it, precious." He gave out a small laugh.Without any choice, I reach for the tea with a heavy heart. He is not forcing me, but something inside me is pushing hard to make me drink the tea. "Drink..."I stole a glance at him before I gulped the tea. My tongue went numb as the tea I consumed danced around my stomach. Death. I'll die by some explosion anytime now, but I am still in one piece."Gosh, that was not that ba─" I couldn't finish my sentence when I suddenly started gasping for air as if something was coming out of me, which affected my breathing."Let it out, Aria."I collapsed to the ground and began to suffocate. My hands slink into my throat and begin to scratch at it. It feels like someone is controlling me."Kai." A familiar voice yells loud enough that his growl even comes in a second after he screams. The sound of the door slamming shut made me flinch even if I was already busy sufficient to puke my soul out of my mouth."Oh, Jax? Do you perhaps want to donate your alpha blood to me?"The sound of ramblings was faint. How can they argue when I am here puking my soul out over that Azolla tea."H-help─" I croaked out. My head felt like splitting, and my eyes almost popped out of their socket. I gagged repeatedly, but nothing came out. I will only feel relief when I successfully throw up my whole guts."What are you doing to her?" The same guy I ran away from said calmly, but his tone seemed threatening. Their lame markups and fights are starting to get irritated me even more."She is my other half."The ramblings start again. Every echo and faint sound is heard, the harder I retch. I can feel water dripping from my mouth as I feel a big wave of retching coming.I am free!Everything stopped when I heard the same voice appearing out of nowhere. I immediately gasp for air as I let my body fall to the ground. My head is spinning from what felt like an eternity of hell in just seconds. As I let my mind take control, the ceiling appeared to be moving, then suddenly, something made me focus on not dying instead of dying.Ugh.I suddenly feel a grip on both of my shoulders. "Aria, I'm so sorry. What did he force you to drink? Tell me so I can kill him." Jax's voice was trembling in concern. He slowly lifts me back to the sofa. I couldn't pinpoint his intention because he is tough to read. Before I could say a single word, I felt a strong force between my chest.Aria, I'm not alone. When I caught a sight of what I assume to be a silver blade, I cried out, "S-Stop!""What is it?!""She has a Silver Dagger buried in her heart." Based on what Jax screamed earlier, the vampire, Kai, began with his eyes stuck on the dagger."I cannot see it. You're lying!" Jax panicked. His eyes travel around my body to search for the dagger. Now, I believe Kai that Jax cannot see the dagger stabbed into my chest.Aria, I am not alone!I ignored the same voice lingering between my thoughts. Since this voice came, nothing good happened to me.I wince in pain as his aggressive movements changed the position of the dagger. "Stop moving, please.""How come I cannot see it?!""Only a vampire can see the dagger.""W-Why can I see it?" I let out a grunt as I stared into the silver dagger, I tried moving, but something was pushing the dagger deeper. Jax stares at me as if I am crazy for screaming while something is stabbed into my heart."Precious, it seems like you know nothing about yourself," Kai said, which made me turn my head and shoot glares at him. He only locks his eyes with mine to show me that he is clearly unaffected."Stop calling her precious." Jax hissed.Kai rolls his eyes and starts to walk teasingly, wherein only his heavy footsteps are heard. "She's your mate? I heard you rejected most of your mates. Playing with mine won't help ease our relationship."The stinging sensation in my chest burns out as I look at Jax, who is now clenching his fist and jaw in anger. Veins start to pop out of his neck."Do not start with me, Kai.""Whoever can remove the dagger is worthy of being her mate. A person is not to be tied with two different creatures at once. If both of us are her mate, then..." Kai pauses before cocking his head to us with a smug grin lingering on the edge of his lips."One of us is lying."ARIAI sat on a high chair designed with red leather and plastered with gold as a design. As Kai and Jax were still arguing, he brought me here. The silver dagger continued to vanish and reappear. Every time it showed, all I could do was hiss in agony. Bullets of sweat aggressively roll down my forehead."Aria, where have you been?"The familiar voice made me jolt from the chair, and a smile slowly crawled to my lips.I excitedly muttered, "Narcissa?" My sight went everywhere, just to locate her seated on the wood at the high ceiling with her feet moving simultaneously."You're a ghost, like me!"I gave a slight nod. Sadness suddenly overtook me when I realized how lonely she must have been. I was lucky since Jax and Kai could see me. Only I could see Narcissa. We have bonded since I was a child, and her appearance never changes."Something weird is happening. Hopefully, this is a dream, and you're here to save me."Narcissa pursued her lips while squinting her eyes."No?" I shake my he
ARIAI ran across the shabby living room in an attempt to escape Narcissa, the crushed bricks and pieces of wood scattered pierced my feet, but I couldn't feel the pain near the mid entrance where Kai flew when I punched him, based on Jax's hoax story."Aria, running sucks. I want to fly." Narcissa mutters as she slowly stops running while fake panting hard from running. I mean, she's a ghost, and I am, too, except for the flying part. But I am sure I can teleport like I did when I landed here at Kai's house."I can't fly, and you can. That's unfair." Narcissa shrugs. She bends her knees and jumps in the air without the need to land back down. I am jealous. "This is not fun.""Tell that to my invisible wings!"The smell of strong coffee lingered in the air. My attention quickly changed from Narcissa to the source of an excellent-smelling coffee."Like my coffee?" The man who claimed to saw everything a while ago teased. He whirls the cup while giving it a soft blow with his rugged smi
ARIA I stood by the door while waiting on Jax and Kai. "It was like slenderman, but more slender!" I hear Jax exclaims, his voice running through the hallway. Remembering the look on Jax’s face when Kai was sucking the daylight out of me, his eyes sent a sting inside me. Like something was dying within me without knowing what it was. The door slowly creaks open making me dash towards the bed and threw myself on the soft mattress, loads of dust flew in the air after I jumped on the bed. "Doesn't Kai sleep here?" "Who told you to play with my bed?" Kai’s voice strikes my ear, I quickly turn my back and met his eyes. "No one, you already let me sit here awhile ago, so I assumed that I can lay here too?" "Get out, I need to check on something." Kai walks passed me, and the cold trail hits my face. I could only sigh in frustration when I remember who puts Kai into a bad mood. I stomped out of the room with a heavy feeling lingering inside me. Walking through the hallway, I can feel
JAX Peering around the corner behind the tree, there I spotted Aria and Kai facing away from me. It's the same flower shop where I found Aria. She's with the guy who found her second. Thinking about what the shadow said, something doesn't add up. Even my wolf is losing communication with me and I don't even know why. Bracing myself, I watched them enter the shop. Swaying back and forth to get a better view over the glass of the shop, the last thing I saw was Kaizel's hands resting on Aria’s lower back. "Filthy blood-sucking pig." "What are you doing here on my territory?" I hear a voice behind me. I turn around and saw Connor the alpha of my sub-pack. Sometimes he can be too close when he smells something unusual. "Unfortunately, this territory is still my pack." "This is not the mainland, therefore, I am the alpha here." Connor shrugs, turning his head to where I was staring then his gaze landing on me. "You're stalking someone," He smiles innocently. I shake my head, not read
"Lillith? That's a beautiful name." I adore her, she looks like the softest fluff, but her eyes say otherwise. "How come you never knew me?" The fire in her eyes slowly fades, and her expression turns into a frown. I was only silent. She's right, what am I missing out on? "I'm sorry," "Go back," "Where?" I smoothed her white fur. Lillith is a part of me and she's beautiful. "Go back to kaizel," "Who's Kaizel?" "Kai," Lillith went silent for a while. My eyes widened when I remembered why I ended up here. "You can't stay here, she'll find you." My wolf warns, she slowly lowers her head to push me away with her snout. I felt her breathing like she was alive. "Who will?" "Eris Edana the royal blood." "What does she want from me? I'm nothing special." I tilt my head, not wanting the idea of going back if it means I won't see Lillith again. "You are," Before I could answer and ask more questions, Lillith blew cold air strong enough to take me flying into the air. "No, Lillith!"
"Is she your mate?" "Yes," Jax replied. "Why aren't you taking action? Her scent is all over the place, and it won't take long for them to know that your mate is not human!" "I'll turn her back. Get the Lycan Beta and keep this to yourself, or I'll snap your neck. Hurry!" As I came out of my trance, I found myself in a familiar room, lying in a king-sized bed. The voices from before echoed in my mind, could it have been Jax speaking? What did he mean by what he said? Jax entered the room, holding a tray of food. "You're already awake?" Ignoring him, I got out of bed and headed towards the door. "Where are you going?" he asked. "Home," I replied. "At least eat what I prepared for you," Jax suggested. "You mean, what your servant prepared?" I shot back, noticing the disgusted frown on his face. "Why the attitude?" he asked. I shrugged and opened the door, leaving the room without another word. The place felt like a pit of hell, with everyone staring at me as I walked past. I
I stood in silence, observing the man in front of me. His silver hair gave him the appearance of an old man, but his voice betrayed his age. "What are you staring at?" he asked, a sly smile on his face as he remained seated in his chair, as though I were an artifact in a museum. "I see that you are a magnificent creature," he said, his eyes glistening with admiration. "I am Marcelo, and I know everything about your kind." Though his expression remained stoic, I could sense the excitement simmering inside him. I wondered what could be causing such excitement. He leaned in closer and began sniffing me, an act that normally would have made me uncomfortable. Surprisingly, however, I felt a sense of connection between us, our pulses beating in unison. As my stomach growled with hunger, a voice in my consciousness whispered, "Bite him." I quickly pushed away the thought, trying to stay in control. "Get out!" I yelled, pushing him forcefully against the wall. Marcelo just grinned, then l
My mother screamed in agony, "What do you want with my daughter?!" Jax ordered Kai to hand me over, but Kai only tightened his grip on me with his cold hands. Before I could process what was happening, Kai dashed out of the place so fast my eyes couldn't keep up. In the dimly lit living room, my mother's absence finally registered. "You left her!" I snapped at Kai, who looked at me coldly. "I'm sorry, but she's going to be a burden to us," he said with an emotionless voice. I couldn't believe what he was saying. "Save my mom!" I screamed back. "It's pointless," he replied, his voice void of any compassion. "Take me back instead. I didn't ask to be saved!" The way he ignored me made me think I could just easily walk out of the house. "Step out of the door and you'll be locked up in your room," he warned. I ignored his warning and reached for the door handle, but Kaizel, a man I had never met before, suddenly appeared in front of me. He towered over me on purpose, making me feel s
Today is the day that the witches will help me. It was my first time sleeping on the ground with only clothes to separate me from the bare dirt of the ground. "Aria, can I come in?" I heard Jax's voice behind the thick curtain with tiny gaps from the other side. "Come in," I threw one of the blankets with weird marks on the side where it was once placed before looking at Jax who only stared down at me."What is it?" I asked."Don't act like you don't know what you did." He smirks with his jaw clenching. I stared back at him remembering the night we kissed. The kiss that I initiated out of nowhere. "Oh, that! It was to check your pulse." I lied before dashing outside but I forgot that it was early in the morning. The sunlight struck my skin that was out in the open, and I hissed.I ran back inside with my skin burning, I was smoking all over the tent my burns are barely healing. "Why does it take so long to heal?""You need to feed, you're weak enough to heal that fast," Jax explaine
"Aria, come back!"I ran through the dark forest, my heart racing with fear and confusion. How could my mother, the woman who had raised me and loved me unconditionally, try to kill me like that? And for what? For humanity's sake? It was madness. But as I ran, I realized that she wasn't entirely wrong. Vampires were dangerous creatures, and I had seen firsthand the destruction they could cause. Maybe she was just trying to protect the people she loved, even if it meant sacrificing her own daughter. I shook my head, trying to clear my thoughts. I couldn't keep running forever. I needed to find a way to undo my vampirism, to become human again. But how? As I stumbled through the forest, lost and alone, a voice interrupted my thoughts. "Young Aria," I spun around, ready to fight or flee. But it wasn't a vampire that I saw. It was Marcelo standing by the tree. "What are you doing here? How did you find me?" The Lycan Beta smiled. "I have an answer for you to start your journey to und
As I walked alongside Jax, I could feel the tension building in my chest. We were headed toward his pack's territory, and I had no idea what to expect. I had only just met Jax's pack a few days ago, and I wasn't sure how they would react to me as Jax's mate who was their mortal enemy since the start of time. The good thing was Jax was able to spray something on me that would hide my musky scent away from the werewolves. As we approached the pack's clearing, I saw a group of werewolves gathered around a little store. They all turned to look at us as we approached, their eyes fixed on me. But then, something caught my eye, something that made my heart skip a beat. My mother. She was there, among the werewolves, helping out with their work. I could see the worry etched on her face as she looked at me, her eyes brimming with concern and tears. "Aria, this is the mainland where I rule armies along with their family," Jake said, gesturing toward the werewolves. "They're good creatures,
I stood in the clearing, my heart pounding in my chest as I faced off against Kai. The feeling of the need to break the bond itched me. I fell uncomfortable under Kai's gaze. I can feel him everywhere I go and it would not take an hour for him to find me. "Remember what I told you, Aria. He's not who you think he is. He's a bad man, a killer, a danger to you and to us." Kai stood still by the door, guarding it to stop my attempt to dash out. I looked into Kai's eyes, I couldn't believe his words. It was a graveyard inside his eyes, I couldn't bring colors to him. I can feel myself fading as I discover more about myself and my abilities. "You're lying," I said, my voice shaking with anger and confusion. "Jax is not bad and he isn't good either. But he found me at the store first, he took time to find me." My grip tightened, my nails digging into my flesh, my eyes flashing with anger. "Don't be foolish, Aria. He's using you, manipulating you for his own gain. He doesn't care about y
I couldn't be more shock at what he said. I can be a troll, wizard and a fairy too. I sat on the chair with a deep resentment on Kai. "So, you knew all along but still turned me just because you despised Jax?" I asked. "Yes, but don't forget that you were meant to be bonded with me," Kai replied with a smirk. "My wolf howled for Jax, he's my mate, not you!" It suddenly hit me like a ton of bricks. "Did you forget that you chose me over him?" Kai taunted. He was right. I realized that this was entirely my fault. Jax had been screaming the truth, but I believed Kai because I thought he was trying to help me overcome my issues. Fuming with anger, I closed my eyes. Should I make a deal with him? No, that's not going to work. I shook my head as I noticed Kai busy watering his withered plant. "You know plants need sunlight, right?" I asked, trying to show him that I was kind. "It's not going to change anything, Aria," Kai replied, shrugging his shoulders. I rolled my eyes. "Stop ea
