I’m sure you should take over.” Mallory was aware that his mate was still getting over the fact that they might lose Jacob, as they had lost Olivera, but he believed that talking about it might help her get over the impending loss quickly. The lad should be back here by now to make a report, but he wasn’t, and worst he couldn’t be reached. Raul couldn’t help but wonder what had gone wrong. Had he been kidnapped too? How possible was that? A knock sounded on the door. Raul inhaled deeply as he walked from one end of the room to the other, his eyes intermittently going to the huge wall clock right opposite the head chair of the long table. He was looking his normal self now, well groomed, and smelling nice. He folded his arms across his chest when the clock struck thirty minutes after he came into the office. When Jeremy had mentioned that he was coming with the ancients, was it a futuristic event, like maybe in two days? Raul shook his head. He remembered that Jeremy had spoken of it as a now event, something happening in the present.
