VAL
I checked my reflection in the mirror for the second time. My hair was put up in a complicated bun with some curls loosened and draped on the back of my neck with the end resting on my clavicle. As I sat on the side of my bed, I recalled exactly what had happened during my birthday party, and what was going to happen tonight. Still, I couldn’t help but feel nervous because even though I knew what was about to happen, I couldn’t figure out what was the real reason the Goddess had decided to give me this second chance.
‘I’m giving you this power so you can save your father, your pack, and yourself. But in return, I’m asking you to save my children. The future of my children is in your hands, Valeriya Sinclair. You could save the entire species from extinction.’
For the last few days, I had written down everything that I could recall on the notes on my phone but I had no clue, which part would be able to save the werewolf species from extinction. It just didn’t make sense.
There was a knock on the door. My maid, Quinn, answered the door and a few seconds later, my step-mother Amber walked into my room, carrying a pretty box in her hands. “Look what I have for you, my darling girl!”
I returned her smile and was about to stand and greet her when she put the box on the bed next to me and placed her hand on my thigh, preventing me from going anywhere. “No, no. No need to stand up.” She opened the box to reveal a pair of really gorgeous Louboutin shoes. They were Christian Louboutin platform heels embellished in Swarovski crystals and easily the most beautiful thing I’d ever behold. “What do you think?” Amber asked, her eyes sparkling in excitement.
“They’re gorgeous,” I replied.
“I know! I have them custom-made. I had to contact their main shop in London and basically told them that they could charge me any amount as long as they got it done before your birthday!”
I let the tip of my fingers touch the bedazzling crystals. “Is this supposed to be my birthday present?”
“Of course not, Darling!” Amber placed the lid back on top of the box. “I want you to wear it tonight! I bought one for myself too!”
“I actually already have shoes prepared,” I drawled.
“Will you wear these instead?” She pouted her lips. “I know this sounds silly but I feel like we are truly becoming mother and daughter. With us wearing the same shoes, it may give the pack some reassurance that we can make this relationship work, Valeriya.”
Without even looking at Quinn, I knew she was touched by Amber’s words too.
“Alright. I’ll wear these.”
“Excellent!” She walked towards the door and before she left, she looked over her shoulder at me. “I’m gonna take a bath and then get dressed! See you at the party, birthday girl!”
I waited for a few minutes until I was sure that she’d left.
“Should I get the shoes out of the wrappers and ready them for you?” asked my maid, her hands reaching for the box.
I rubbed my hand on the expensive-looking box. “No.” I clasped my hands together on my lap and looked up to meet Quinn’s eyes. “I need you to do something for me.”
Quinn nodded. “What would that be, milady?”
I motioned for her to come closer. And once she was close enough, I whispered to her ear. “You know Amber wears the same size of shoes as I do, right? I need you to bring these and go to her room.”
Despite her confusion, Quinn did exactly as I’d said. About half an hour later, I was already downstairs where the party was being held. My 21st birthday. This was probably when everything had gone South ways in my last life. Now I was more than determined not to repeat my fate. I might not know what the Goddess expected of me, but I would be damn sure to save my dad and my pack.
Spotting my dad and Amber a few feet away, I joined them in greeting the guests. Most of these people were my dad’s business partners and friends. I remembered opposing this idea at first but my dad had argued and told me how important maintaining the connections is.
The huge double doors swung open and the butler announced the guest’s name. Out of one corner of my eye, I caught Amber licking her bottom lip nervously before heading towards the entrance. Her heels made a ticking noise as they hit the marbled floor. Anytime now.
Four seconds passed before I heard her scream and had trouble trying not to smile.
VAL It was hard to maintain a blank, surprised look on my face when I was the perpetrator of what happened. On the first few days of recalling what had happened in my previous life, before I was reborn, I remembered how Amber was responsible for my father’s death, and right now, I planned to make her a victim and have her taste her own medicine. This was the first move. On my 21st birthday, she’d purposefully given me the shoes with broken heels which were why this time around, I’d asked my maid to swap hers with mine. On her way to greet the guest, her heels broke and her legs slipped. Amber stumbled upon a table with a champagne pyramid. All the crystal glasses crashed on the floor along with her. I bit my cheek and waited for three seconds to make sure that my face revealed nothing but frantic worries as I approached her. “Oh my gosh, Amber, are you okay?” “Fine!” Amber screeched. Her whole dress was drenched in champagne with some cuts here and there from the glasses. She was

I bit my bottom lip to keep myself from laughing as I felt a shiver run down his back and the front of his trousers tightened. “But it’s my home. I can do whatever I want.” I swayed my body away from him and loosened his tie. He caught my wrist and asked, “And what do you want?” “Why do you think I brought you here? A place where none of my bodyguards are around.” I rolled my eyes, slapping his hand away and continuing to undo his tie. I draped his tie around my neck. “Definitely not to guard the door while I do my business.” With my other hand, in one swift motion, I pulled his shirt out of the band of his trousers. After all the experience I’d had in my previous life, I was a changed woman now. This time around, reliving this life, I was no longer

That intoxicating smell from the help had driven me crazy and made my blood boil. I wasn’t sure if it was an instant attraction or if she’d put something on her being, whichever it was, it brought up a raging desire to grab her, pull her toward me, and rip her clothes off of her. The very thought alone scared me. Especially when this was not a place to be distracted. And furthermore, distracted by the help of all people! Ignoring the partygoers, I went looking for that mysterious man. “Was a man with dark blonde hair and blue-green eyes who gave this to you?” I asked the servant who’d delivered the present to me earlier. The servant blinked nervously, he seemed to be afraid that he’d gotten himself in some sort of trouble. “Don’t worry, just tell me. You’re not in trouble or anything,” I reassured him. “I just want to thank him personally.” “Yes, Milady,” he finally answered. “He has just gone through that door toward the garden.” “Okay. Thank you.” I followed the door that the servant had pointed out and walked into the garden. When my mum was alive, this garden was filled with beautiful, colorful flowers. Right now although the gardener had done their job well, there were too many greens and not much of other colors. I began scouting the greens in my attempt to f

Going through the letters, most of the men who weren’t married, wished to spend time with me. I knew their real intention wasn’t pure and all they wanted was to marry the Alpha and Mafia King’s daughter to gain more territory and power. I couldn’t care less about their goals as I didn’t wish to entertain them. However, there were three people who intrigued me the most: Soren Wilkins, the mysterious E.A., and Darren Wilcock. Looking at the happiness glinting in my dad’s eyes, I couldn’t bring myself to disappoint him so I shouldered on and plastered a smile on my face. “Go on.” My dad grabbed my hand and gave it a gentle squeeze and that was when I saw images flashing through my mind. They were images of my dad being captured and dragged away, he turned into his wolf form but someone struck him with something that looked like a sword with an intricate handle. There were images of his wolf weakening and then being stabbed to death. His eyes were locked on mine as his soul left his body. I could feel a tear slip out of one corner of my eye and the next thing I knew, my body was being shaken. I blinked and saw my dad’s worried face. “Are you alright? The omega who worked here must have diligently changed the bedsheet and cleaned the room because there was no dust or dirt here. “Shall I bring you a fresh pot of tea?” asked Quinn once she’d finished making the bed. “Yes, please. I put my tea back on the table and grabbed the pot of tea and poured it into an empty cup. “How’d you like your tea, Quinn?” Upon realizing that I was fixing a cup of tea for her, Quinn rushed to kneel beside my sofa. “Milady, you shouldn’t. I should be the one doing things for you, not the other way around. This is not right.” Carefully I set
EROSI stared at my phone for what felt like the longest time, simply watching the screen lit up with her name and her photo tempting me to pick up the call so I could finally hear her voice again. Goddess knew how long it had been since the last time I’d heard her voice, smell her scent, and breathe the same air as her. Fuck. Thinking about it only made me miss her more. ‘Careful there. You’re turning into a romantic now,’ teased my arsehole wolf, Ares. “Shut the fuck up,” I growled. “Whoa, hold on a second there,” said Young Seb who was doing some sparing and training with me. “I’ve been quiet for the last two hours, ignoring the sick puppy eyes look on your face and refraining myself from uttering even a single comment and now you’re suddenly cussing me out of nowhere?! What the fuck is wrong with you, mate?!” He grabbed his towel clinging to his shoulder and threw it at me. She looked a little surprised to see me already wide awake and sitting on my bed. I couldn’t sleep last night as I couldn’t wait to be alone with Quinn. The only time we’d be alone was in the morning. Clearly, I should’ve tried finding her last night. “I’m sorry, who are you?” I asked as I swung my legs to the side of my bed and got up. “Where’s Quinn?” I softly muttered as I approached her. The girl was opening the curtains and her hands stopped. She looked over her shoulder and gave me a pleading look as if telling me not to ask her any more questions. She remained like that for a few more seconds before she turned back to her task. When she finally opened her mouth, her tone was casual and in no way answere
VAL I thought that I was the only one who knew about this. Had the Goddess told another soul? “The same way I know that you’re not an only child,” said Quinn with a sad smile. There was something in her smile that bothered me. I tried to digest her words and there was only one conclusion. “Are you saying that Amber is pregnant?” Yet Quinn shook her head. “That’s not what I meant although you’re right about her being pregnant. Except that the baby isn’t your half-sibling.” Realization finally dawned on me. Amber had cheated on my dad. “Whose child is it then?!” “It’s not really important.” Quinn’s face was dead serious when she said, “You won’t survive on your own. If you wish to win, Milady, you need to find your brother.” “What brother?” I blinked. “Wait, you haven’t told me how you know all of this. How’d you know about the Goddess Gift and this brother of mine?” There was a brief moment of silence and I started to feel bad so I quickly added, “It’s not that I don’t
