Days passed like a blur. Having my dad around did make it easier, although he was still wary of me. I guessed he was still trying to make peace with the fact that I was a sorceress, someone who was capable of doing malicious, cruel, and unspeakable things. But for the other part that recently discovered a side of me, he was sincerely happy. I could see it in his eyes and felt it whenever he was telling me all sorts of things that a wolf could do and what it meant to be a wolf.
In all honesty, I appreciated everything that he taught me. However, I didn’t think I’d like to go through the transforming process even though he’d indeed said that it would get easier and less painful each time.
Without truly noticing it, the graduation day came and this time of the year, the school board decided to go fancier than before. One of my schoolmates was a rich kid and his family managed to convince the school board to allow them to rent a ballroom from a prestigious hotel. I had no intention of coming to the graduation party, but my best friends Davina and Eros kept telling me that this only happens once in one’s lifetime and that I should enjoy it.
“I still can’t believe you convinced me to dress up,” I muttered to Davina as I watched my reflection in the bathroom’s mirror. I was wearing a black sleeveless cocktail dress. One lock of reddish-brown hair curled on my clavicle. Davina did my hair and makeup and I had to say she’d outdone herself.
“You look gorgeous, babe,” said Davina, giving my shoulder a gentle squeeze before she leaned forward and fixed her lipstick. “Eros came, didn’t he?”
I groaned. “I shouldn’t have made a bet and told him that I would only go if he does.” It was a losing bet, but at that moment, I hadn’t known that. All I’d thought about was if I had to go through this torture of an event, he had to as well.
“Oh, please, everyone looks at you with envy in their eyes.” Dav took a sharp breath. “It’s completely different with the aghast look they’re giving me for having a baby bump. It’s as if I might go into labor on the dance floor tonight when in truth I’m not due until five more months.”
“Hey.” I put one arm around her shoulders while the other around her front. “Don’t worry about them. Trey loves you and he promised to be a good dad. Plus, their words only matter if you let them.”
“I know.” She held my hand and gave me a small smile. “Thanks for always being there for me.”
We went out of the bathroom a few minutes later. The first thing I noticed when we walked through the door was the sight of Eros leaning against the wall on the opposite side. He had his arms crossed and a small frown nestled between his eyebrows. He looked up and when our eyes met, his whole complexion changed. His blue-green eyes were a shade lighter and his lips curled into a lopsided smile.
“Nice suit,” commented Davina before heading back after giving me a look. Since Ryker had left and Eros had broken up with his mate, Davina kept telling me how nice it would be if I dated Eros. She had it in her head that best friends should end up becoming lovers.
“My lady,” he greeted me, offering one arm.
I rolled my eyes and linked my arm with his. “You cleaned up well.” I gave him a once over as we walked back into the ballroom where the party was being held. “Now everyone will believe that you’re a famous mystery writer.”
His bicep was taut for a split second before he relaxed his muscles again. “I’m done with being a writer, Xy. I can’t keep on living a double life. Triple even.” He shook his head and took a glass of punch from a passing waiter, then took a big gulp. “Being a mafia, werewolf, and writer. It’s too much for me.”
“But it’s your dream,” I insisted. “And you’re such a good writer, Er.” This was the truth. His writing was really good and very detailed. He once had told me that it was because of his mafia work thus allowing him to write based on what he’d witnessed and done. I’d argued that not all mafias were writers which could only mean that it took skill to do what he did. “Don’t give up on your dream.”
“I have a new dream,” Eros said with a sad smile. “I’ll find Ryker for you. I’ll bring him home so you can cure him.”
“Er, I don’t think—” I was about to tell him that I honestly didn’t think that it would work on Ryker as it had on Eros and my dad but seeing the look on his face, how he was struggling to find a purpose, I stopped myself. “Thank you.”
His smile grew into a grin. “Shall we dance?”
I gave him a nod, and he led me to the dance floor. We danced through songs. From the most upbeat to the slowest tempo. His arms were enveloping me as I clung to my arms around his neck and we had a slow dance. I caught sight of Davina and Nick and smiled. Resting my head on Eros’s shoulder, I tried to enjoy the peaceful melody. I saw my ex-boyfriend, my bullies, and my homeroom classmates. After tonight, we all had our own separate lives. We no longer had to be in the same room for hours. Each of us had our own plans. Whether it was college, marriage, getting a job, or raising a kid.
For the first time, I truly felt the distinction between myself and the rest of them. If what had happened two months ago hadn’t happened, I would probably still be like them. Even though I’d turned down my ex-boyfriend’s marriage proposal and finally came clean with him by telling him that I wasn’t ready for marriage after high school, I’d still have college. After college, I’d find a job and it would be years before I would decide whether to be married or not. Regardless of which choice I’d make, I would have a mundane life — free from all supernatural beings. I probably wouldn’t even find out that I was a hybrid.
I let my eyes wander about the room, remembering each of their faces and the memories of my life in high school. Then, all of a sudden, I could feel someone’s eyes on me. Watching and studying my every move. I could feel it on my neck, on my chest, arms, waist, legs. I tried to find where this person was and about a few minutes later; I found him at the back of the crowd wearing a black hoodie underneath what looked like a dark pacific blue blazer. Our eyes met for several seconds before he broke the connection away and moved towards the exit.
“Er, I think I need to go to the loo again,” I told Eros without looking. My eyes were glued to the stranger’s back.
“Do you need me to accompany you?” he asked, sounding a bit worried. Just like everyone else, my friends weren’t truly convinced that I was fine despite my reassurance.
“No, it’s fine, Er.” I planted a small kiss on his cheek before walking out of the dance floor and toward the exit sign.
Once I was outside, I checked left and right, but couldn’t find him anywhere. I wasn’t sure why, but my gut feeling told me that he went to the right, so I turned right and walked down the hallway. I walked past the bathroom and stopped. Looking to my left, I observed the bathroom door, which was made of well-polished oak wood.
Using my left hand, I pushed the door open and stepped inside. Since everyone was at the party and there was a nearer bathroom — the one that I’d gone to previously, this one was quite abandoned with zero occupants.
At least that was what I thought until I felt warm breath tickle the back of my neck and a voice that was so damn familiar followed. It was just one word. My name. “Xyrra.” Yet it carried so many emotions all at once.
I closed my eyes and breathed in his usual smell, minus the expensive aftershave that he’d often used. My skin felt warm and butterflies were forming in the pit of my stomach. Every nerve was on high alert. Every cell on my body was desperately anticipating what he might do, especially after that passionate make-out sesh we’d had in the alley behind the cafe merely about a month ago.
This was impossible. This couldn’t be him. He’d gone, he’d abandoned me. In his letter, he’d mentioned that he would never see me again and that I should move on and give his best friend, Dmitry, a chance. It was a farewell letter. It was supposed to be the end of us. It didn’t matter how I wished it was mistaken, how I wished he would return one day and explain everything.
This was just a fickle of my imagination. I’d told Dmitry about my encounter with Ryker at the alley, but he’d told me that I had been imagining things, that Ryker had left Europe altogether. Yes, this must be my imagination playing its course. Perhaps my magic had gone its own way to make everything feel like it was real for me. After all, it wouldn’t be the first time this power went out of my control.
“Are you afraid?” His voice sent tingles down my spine and when I felt his lips lightly brushing the exposed skin on the back of my neck, I shivered.
This was too damn real. I could feel him in my pores. Despite how stupid my question was, I still had to ask. “Are you real?”
“Well,” he whispered against my skin. His hand captured my waist and then slid its way to my stomach. His palm spread on my lower abdomen before it slowly inched its way down in blissful torture. “Let’s find out, shall we?”
In a swift motion, he moved his hand to cup my crotch. His other hand covered the front of my dress and gave my breast a good squeeze before palming it, kneading it as if it was a piece of dough. My cheeks flushed as my nipples grew so hard that the black lace of my bra suddenly felt like torture. Then I felt his breath on my neck and went down and down before realizing that he had unzipped my dress by biting the zipper and dragged it all the way down. I wasn’t sure how it happened, but in an instant; I found myself naked except for my undies, which made no difference considering his finger had slipped their way underneath the fabric and slid into my core. Whatever he found there had him groaning and grinding against me, seeking hot friction between our bodies as our breath escapes in moans of unabashed pleasure.
Then he turned me around. My hip hit the marbled sink. I knew it was going to leave a bruise there, but at this moment; I didn’t give a damn. All I wanted was him. Ryker. All of him. His eyes found my breasts just a mere second before his teeth did, and he bit down so hard on my nipple that I cried out, the sound echoing in the empty loo. I bit my bottom lip to prevent myself from screaming.
“Mine,” he murmured, his mouth still pressed against my breasts, tongue teasing my nipples. When he finally let go, he growled. Louder this time. “Mine!”
With all the possessiveness oozing out of him, I realized that I was dealing with Khrysaor now. I didn’t need to see his eyes to know that they were jet black instead of silver. I immediately remembered what happened when Ryker and I had our first sex. Khrysaor had been so eager to mark me while Ryker was trying to prevent it because he wanted me to agree to become his mate first.
Ryker’s words rang in my mind. “When it happens, it’s going to be special and it’ll be meaningful. Not just because my arsehole wolf can’t keep it in his pants, okay? Khrysaor is ridiculously possessive of you. He has been waiting for you for more than a decade, Love. When I gave up on searching for my mate and settled back home, he didn’t. He continued to hope, believing that you were still alive and that you both would meet. Now that you’re here, he’s being utterly possessive of you. It’s not reasonable, I know.”
The rough, painful squeeze on my ass woke me back to reality, right on time, as he moved his mouth to mine. He moved his hips forward and slid his length against the fabric of my slim underwear. I could feel the head of his shaft pressing against my swollen opening. Then his mouth traced down my jaw and stopped at my neck, where he kissed and sucked in a way that would no doubt leave a hickey there. Something which I didn’t want right now because I still had to go back to the party.
So I tried to push him, move his mouth off my neck when he suddenly growled and I felt a sharp, sudden pain in my shoulder. I cried, but this time it wasn’t for pleasure. It was purely for the insufferable pain coming from my right shoulder. I grabbed his neck with both hands, wanting to get him off of me when I realized that I was touching furs. Jet-black furs instead of skin.
Slowly but surely, I felt dizzy. I could feel my body sway, as I no longer had the power to remain standing. If it wasn’t for the fact that the marbled sink was positioned behind me, I was sure I would slide down to the floor. My consciousness was moving in and out, the room swirled and my eyelids felt so heavy.
Right before I completely succumbed to the darkness, I could hear Eros frantically screaming in the background.

There was no mark. He hadn’t marked me. He’d bitten and he sucked my blood but that was it. It left me more confused than if he’d marked me. Eros had taken me back to the Ethereal’s packhouse about an hour ago. Despite what I’d told him, he didn’t believe that Ryker had indeed come and that he’d bitten me. The fact that the wound had healed itself by the time Eros had found me on the bathroom floor didn’t help, either. “Why can’t you believe me?” I breathed out and sagged on the couch. “He was there. He bit me and drank my blood. Why else would I be passing out in the bathroom?” “Maybe you had too much to drink.” My best friend annoyingly shrugged and, at this moment, I wanted nothing but to throw something at him. Anything. He seemed to realize that too, as he took a seat next to me and held my hand. “Look, Xy, Ryker is no longer in Europe. The pack at the border saw him leave when he nearly crossed their territory. There was no way that it was Ryker.” E
It took everything in me not to blast my power and erase her existence. A part of me wished that I could turn back time and not see that mark on her shoulder. Perhaps if that was the case, I wouldn’t have to hear her talking about her and Ryker. I wished I could erase that part of my memory so that my chest wouldn’t feel all the pain I was currently feeling. I did my best to shove those aching away and focused on Adelina instead. She could be lying for all I knew. It was possible that she’d simply had rough sex with a wolf that wasn’t Ryker and she’d only said that to piss me off because she knew she couldn’t possibly fight me and win. My thoughts must be apparent on my face because the next second Adelina opened her mouth and informed me all the details about her so-called night with Ryker. “He’s big, I have to say. I thought I wouldn’t be able to handle him.” Adelina let out a small giggle, which didn’t suit her at all as she was fifteen years older than any school girl. “But d
I shoved that thought away. It was lucidly impossible. My dad had told me what had happened that night. There had been at least a dozen of the Erebus’s members who witnessed my mother’s body being torn apart. Then there were those ladies who’d cleaned her body for burial, too. Hell, my dad was going to take me to her grave this weekend. The book must have been wrong, or there was another witch named Gaia Delvaux that wasn’t my mother. Once I calmed myself down, I continued searching for any information about ‘Mad Wolf’ that I eventually stumbled upon one page that was filled with the Greek alphabet, albeit there was only one paragraph in it. There wasn’t a single Latin word on this page. Mad Wolf is a rare, mythical disease that will drive the wolf crazy to the point where he/she will eat their mate and then die upon the realization of what they’d done. This disease was caused by the Sword of Damocles. I picked up my phone again and searched for a
Dmitry rarely called my name, but when he’d done it, there hadn’t been any emotion there, almost as if an AI was told to pronounce my name. Yet this time, he did it so softly and with his hand touching my face; I had to admit that I was shitting my pants right now. My mind kept telling me that this was Dmitry and Dmitry Vashkov was more like a walking robot than a human being. I recovered from the shock quicker than if it was Ryker who was in such close proximity to me and I had to assume that it was because Dmitry wasn’t my mate. “As in a prince of a wolf nation or something?” I pulled back a little and frowned. My mind speedily caught up on the issue that I’d been wanting to ask about for days now. This time, it wasn’t about Dmitry. It was about me. “Then would you be able to explain why my wolf showed up one time then disappeared to god knows where?” “Not exactly,” he said after a short while. “When was the last time you shifted?” “Since
Two years later . . . I packed up my things one more time, putting the Book of the Damned into my satchel along with some spare clothes that I’d brought with me when I’d left the packhouse two years ago. My wolf truly hadn’t come out ever since the first time I’d shifted which helped me a lot in covering the fact that I was half a wolf and half a sorceress. Thank goodness none of the witches, warlocks, and faes had a super smell either. I’d managed to find a sorceress named Deidre who taught me a lot about runes, spells, potions, and charms. She was the only person around here who knew that I had the Book of the Damned in my possession and did not want to steal it. She’d even warned me about how dangerous it was and to use it with extra caution. I slung the strap on my shoulder and looked up to meet Deidre’s blue eyes. “Do you think I’m r
I couldn’t help but ask her directly. “What are you doing here?” “I was meeting Blair Balfour,” Tiffany replied in a hushed tone. “I was hoping she could help me find Ryker.” Her expression turned sad and I felt bad for her. While I’d been away for two years, I’d detached myself from everyone I knew, and that included Ryker’s big sister. I’d heard a rumor about Tiffany seeking witches and asking them to help her find her brother but every witch in the East had turned her down. Frankly, they wouldn’t want to be involved with wolves’ business. Deidre had once told me that the other two packs: the Erebus and the Night Walkers could assume that the witches were siding with the Ethereal should they lend a hand. “How’s it?” I asked, holding her hand. “Did she say yes?”
“I believe it was a few days after he left, this letter arrived at my house in D.C.,” said Tiffany as she opened her drawer and pulled out an A4-sized brown envelope that I often saw being used to store documents. After what had happened in the garage, she’d brought me into her bedroom which was bigger than my entire house and should be called a suite instead. She led me to a small living room where a wooden desk and office chair was installed. “He must’ve asked Dmitry to mail it.” She proceeded to reopen the envelope and produce two pieces of paper, then she set the envelope on the table. “Most of the documents are instructions and whatnot. Things that he’d like to see happening if—” Tiffany stifled a sob and shook her head. “I’m sorry. I’m very emotional when it comes to my family. Anyway, yeah, basically what he wants us to do with his estate, assets, the pack, charities, and orphanages that he w
No matter how many times I’d told Tiffany that I could be wrong, she didn’t listen to a word I said. She still believed that Ryker was truly in the same city that we were right now. She even wanted to begin searching for him, claiming that all she wanted was to see that he was okay. In the end, I’d informed her that I could make her see Ryker or at least see his surroundings through his eyes however this would require a lot of energy and focus. Upon hearing this, she ushered me to the dining room where the butler and several maids were ready to serve dinner. Her son, Draven, didn’t join us, seemingly was still busy with his work or love life. Tiffany truly loved talking about her kids, so much that even after sitting there for ten minutes, I learned that she had eight sons and a daughter. One of her sons, in particular, Javier, was finally going to marry his secretary this year. Their love story was the new Pride and Prejudice according to Tiffany. I smiled as I listen

Dear Gentle Readers, How art thou? I am mostly exhausted right now. But it is totally worth it. Can you believe that this story has finally come to an end? I would like to say a massive thank you for the support that you all have given to this book and other books. Your love and support have always been the key success of this story. Reading your comments, your reviews, and your anticipation for the next chapters have driven me to write and complete these two books: Taming The Wild Alpha and Mad Wolf. It is certainly possible that I will write another book to this “supposedly-duo-logy” and turned it into a “trilogy” instead (I dare say that I am most tempted to do it now, to be honest). After all, even though this book has no massive readership amount like my other book (aka Taming The Wild CEO), I interact more with all of you here in the comment section of this book and also on social media (I still get excited like a kid on Christmas morning every time I get a direct message fro
Even though Ryker seemed alright and that his wound had truly healed, I still urged him to check into the hospital the next day. I knew people would think I was being ridiculous especially since I was a sorceress so I should believe in magical things but still, I didn’t want to take any chances. Not when it came to him. After breakfast Dmitry was taking him to the hospital for a medical check up. While they were gone, I went back to our room which was previously Ryker’s room, and sat on the sofa by the window. There were still a lot of things to figure out and right now, all I wanted was to talk with Seymour. ‘Well, I am right here.’ It was clear as the sky above that the more I used the magic, the more it took a toll on both of us, more to Seymour than me which was why she hadn’t shown herself for ages. I vaguely recalled what Seymour had said to me that night, “Magic might not take a toll directly on you but it does on me.” ‘It definitely did. Look, the only reason I came bac
X Y R R A ’ S P O V There was a time in someone’s life where they realized that they hit rock bottom. Some people would cry, regret things that they’d done in the past, and succumb to depression. However, there were people who had a different perspective about it and told themselves, ‘I hit rock bottom, there’s nothing worse than this, so I’m gonna fight no matter what the outcomes because worst case scenario, it can’t get worse than this but on the other hand, best case scenario, I might come on top’. Reading the scrolls that Alpha Damien had shown me, I knew that this was my rock bottom right here. Everything he’d said was the truth. The cure for the Mad Wolf disease was ‘love’. One simple word that could be described in thousands, perceived differently by every person on Earth, and certainly wasn’t a tangible thing to begin with. Hence my current predicament. As the Elderlies — a group of people who’d studied Greek ancient history for decades — were looking for more informatio
Xyrra’s POV It took us two solid hours to get to the border between the North and the West. Dmitry had informed our patrol beforehand that we were going to come through so the three wolves that were there merely gave us a nod and let us pass. Obviously, the issue wasn’t our own patrol but it was whether the Night Walkers’ patrol would let us pass. They would see us as a threat the second we crossed their borders especially since we had no appointment with them. I did ask Ryker and Dmitry whether we should alert the Night Walkers beforehand but they both said that it was best for us to come there this instant and worry about the rest later because, unlike the Erebus who might accept a courtesy phone call, the Night Walkers chose to live in solitude and the only time we would ever come across them was during a yearly Alpha meeting. As soon as Ryker, Eros, Dmitry, and I crossed the small river that was supposedly divided the North from the West, three wolves literally jumped into our p
Ryker’s Standpoint While everyone was resting, I made my way out of the back door and walked toward the lake. Each step I took almost felt like the last time I’d been here. They were all so familiar. Being here right now felt familiar and yet horrifying at the same time because I knew that I wasn’t truly fine. I knew it like the back of my hand that I could flip any time. Looking down, I held the ring on my finger with my thumb and forefinger, rolling it on my ring finger. This thing albeit small had literally kept me sane. The real question was: for how long? How much longer before I truly lost it? How much time do I have left? I could tell that currently, the magic was leaking quicker than it had before judging by how frequently Xyrra needed to infuse more spells into it. She might not tell me but I could tell. It was only a matter of time before this thing could no longer hold the madness inside my head anymore and I feared that that day might happen sooner than I would’ve wante
Fortunately, there was no hiccup in our journey back to the North. The weather seemed to be in our favor as well which was a blessing really since England’s sky could have the most horrific weather possible. I hadn’t informed Dmitry or Trish or Miles simply because I wanted it to be a surprise. I parked my motorcycle in front of the packhouse and took off my helmet. I swung my leg and stood by my bike as I waited for the boys. Ryker’s car came to view and he parked right next to my bike. Eros’s black sports car joined us a mere seconds later. They both got out of the car but only Ryker was following me to the porch. I turned around and eyed my best friend, feeling rather confused. “Er, are you not coming with us inside?” He shook his head, still dangling around his car. I turned to Ryker. “You go in first. I’ll talk to him before joining you in a wee bit.” Ryker gave me a pat on the shoulder. “Wish me luck. I hope they would let me speak first before jumping on me or shooting me

I wasn’t about to leave my baby alone here in London. Their second suggestion was to let either Ryker or Eros ride my motorcycle while I rode in their car. I also declined that one so in the end, both Ryker and Eros brought their car while I rode my baby. We made a stop in the motel along the way. At first, I thought that we all would cramp into one bedroom but Eros, who had gone to the receptionist and made the arrangement, came back with two keys. He tossed one key to Ryker and winked at me before heading toward his own room. “Enjoy your early honeymoon, mates!” he teased u
