CHAPTER- 4

JAXON SALVATORE KNIGHT

"Here you go, Jax. I finally found that girl for you. She will be the surrogate and she has good qualities with her. And to my surprise, she works at your bar, Royal Blue." Dad handed me his I-pad where there was a girl's information with her picture.  

The moment I glanced at the picture my heart skipped a beat and went wild. My right hand automatically went to the left side of my chest and clutched my heart as I felt a different kind of feeling there. The feeling was alien to me. I had never felt this kind of feeling ever in my life. I zoomed in on the picture and took a good look at her face. Her beautiful big round dark brown eyes mesmerized me and I could not take my eyes off her. 

Then my eyes fall on her sharp nose then on her rose petal lips. I swallowed hard seeing her tempting kissable lips. Her lower back-length strawberry blonde hair makes her more beautiful. And her smile, oh god! She has the power to make other guys on their knees just by her full-blown beautiful smile. She has a natural glow in her face that makes her look like natural beauty not caked with makeup. With just a first look she steals my heart. I haven't met her yet, but I still fall for this girl. What is she? A magician? How can she capture my heart without meeting me?

"I have talked to her on the phone. But I have arranged a meeting with her at your bar at night. If you want to go and meet her, you can go, otherwise, I can do that for you." 

"No, I'll go," I said quickly and looked up at Dad. Dad's brows were pulled together and he narrowed his eyes at me. 

"What's wrong, Son? Don't tell me you lost your heart to her." There was a devilish smirk plastered on his face as he asked me. But before he could understand anything I composed myself and put up a blank face. 

"You're wrong here, Dad. I want to meet her personally because she's going to be the mother of my child. So it will be good if I talk to her personally. Because I don't want her to accuse me later, she never met the person who got her pregnant." Dad made a face from which I understood he didn't buy my words. I know my excuse wasn't valid. But I couldn't come up with anything else. 

"Okay, it's fine. Go and remember one thing: try to keep your beast in control, don't let him kill our last hope." I nodded at him and he left my study room. 

"So, Miss Monroe, we are going to meet very soon." A big smile spread across my lips looking at her picture.

I was waiting for her in my room and suddenly I heard the click of twisting the door knob. The moment she stepped into the room pushing the door her scent hit my nostril and my Beast started to howl in the back of my mind. A smell of rose after rain and vanilla hit my nose which excited my wolf and raced my heart. My beast was pushing to take control but I tried my best to keep him under control. There will be no surprise if he took control because he always does this. I saw a figure entering the room and approaching me. My heart was beating rapidly inside my rib cage. I saw her looking here and there nervously. I could feel her fear and nervousness from here and her fast heartbeat. 

"Mr. Knight, I'm here. Lauren, Lauren Monroe. You asked for me." A sweet melodious voice came from her side and it feels like soothing music to my ear. A smile broke into my lips hearing her voice.

"So, you are the girl my Dad chose as my child's surrogate mother." Saying that I turned on the light and get awestruck by her beauty. The first thing that caught my attention was her beautiful dark brown eyes as our gaze locked. Her eyes are so deep and enchanting that I felt lost in them. Today her beautiful hair was pulled up in a bun while wearing casual attire. 

I composed myself before she caught me luring at her. My eyes traveled on her body from head to toe then my upper lip curved up in a smirk. 

"I don't know what my father has seen in you that he chooses you as the surrogate. You look weak." I could feel her uncomfortable with my words. But I can't help, I have to treat her like this. So that in future she doesn't develop any feelings for me. 

"I'm afraid you would be able to survive the delivery procedure." She looked down and Gosh! She looked so adorable like this. Now I'm afraid thinking that I might fall for this girl very soon. But I don't want her to die because of me. I want to cherish her for the rest of my life. It's the first time I feel like this for someone. And I'm sure this feeling is true as much as it's true that the sun and moon exist. 

"Have a seat." I motioned for her to sit on the opposite chair of mine. And I was her settled on the chair with a small smile on her face. 

"So, what's your name?" I asked her sternly looking right into her eyes. While leaning more into my chair. 

"Lauren," I remember her name but still I want to hear from her mouth. Because I like to listen to her voice all day and I will not get bored at all. 

"Lauren, what?" I asked her, raising my left brow. 

"Lauren Monroe," She told her full name and I felt like grinning from inside. 

"Okay, so Lauren I will give you a last chance to back off if you want, I won't force you. But if something happens to you, I won't be responsible." I just wanted to test her if she's willingly doing this or if my father has forced her to do this. 

I watched her crossing her arms against her chest and for a mere second, my eyes were glued to her perfect round molds that have pulled up now making me swallow hard. I shoved away my dirty mind and looked to see her dark brown orbs that were staring right into my emerald-green eyes.

 "Mr. Knight, I have my reason to accept your father's offer. But I'm curious to know why he chose me for this task. I'm certain that he knows about me being wolfless. And maybe you also know about this. Because there is no way you didn't investigate my whereabouts before approaching me." 

 My lip curved up in a smirk at her savage reply. "Smart."

"Yes, I know everything about you. But why I and my father chose you, I won't tell you. If you want to back off, you are free to do that. It's up to you." She looked stunned hearing my reply and kept looking at me without blinking her eyes as if she just lost in my eyes.

"I know, I'm handsome but it doesn't mean you will keep ogling at me." it didn't get unnoticed by me how my voice startled her. But soon she composed herself. 

"I wasn't ogling at you. I was just lost in my thoughts." Pushing a hair stand behind her ear that was hanging from the side of her face she retorted back trying to be sounded confident but failed miserably. And I can't help as a chuckle left my mouth. 

"Okay, I won't strangle you for fantasies about me. So now enlighten me by telling me your decision." I asked her getting serious. 

I noticed as she chewed her bottom lip and took a deep breath before answering me. 

"Umm, I'm willing to be the surrogate but I have conditions, you have to give me $170,000 now. I really needed this." She pressed her lips together in nervousness while looking at me and I must say she was pretty nervous. She tried to read my face but alas I never let my emotions reflect on my face. 

"Are you sure?" I asked her, narrowing my eyes at her. And she nodded her head.

"Okay, sign this contract and I will give the money you just mentioned now as your advance." I shoved a pile of paper toward her.

"How are you so sure that I'll be able to get pregnant with your child? What if the experiment fails?" Her sudden question made me look at her. 

"Don't worry, even if the experiment fails I won't ask you to return the money," I assured her as I could sense she was worried about the money. 

"If the result comes out negative then I'll return your money little by little every month. If I didn't need this money so much, I would never have even agreed to do this. When I'm aware there is a chance I might die." 

Her words stunned me but I didn't say anything to her and waited for her to finish signing the contract. 

"I have to move into your house?" Suddenly she spoke up in utmost shock making her big round eyes more big. I suppressed my laugh and sat straight to answer her. 

"Yes, of course. What made you think that I will let you stay in a shabby place and eat unhealthy foods and live an unhealthy life when you are going to give birth to the heir of the Dark Blood Moon Pack?" 

"Okay, I understand. But do I have to live in your room?" My eyes went wide hearing her words. What made her think that we will sleep together? We are not a couple. She's just a surrogate.

"Hell, no!" I noticed as she let out a relieved breath hearing me.

"Then it's okay with me." She flashed a smile at me and started signing the papers. As she gave me back the papers I handed her the bag filled with money. 

"There is $200,000 inside the bag." As I said she looked up at me in shock. 

"Why are you giving me $200,000?" She asked me immediately. And I rolled my eyes. 

"I don't care about the money, what is important to me is my heir. That's why I'm giving you this extra money so that you can have some nutritious food and make yourself healthy enough to carry my child. Looking at your thin body I'm afraid you would be able to carry my child. So have some healthy food for two weeks and meet me after two weeks." She blinked at me repeatedly hearing my words. I raised my brows at her as she was not saying anything. 

"Okay, I'll be leaving then." Saying that she stood up from the chair and turned on her heels, moving towards the door. Then something hit me. I don't have her number.

"Let's exchange our numbers before leaving." She halted at her track, heard my voice, and turned around. 

"Ohh, I almost forgot about that." She flashed an awkward smile at me and pulled out her phone from her pocket approaching me. I gave her my phone and she gave me her and then we exchanged our numbers. 

"Done." She gave me her full-blown smile which made my heart skip a beat and waved her hands at me.  

"Okay, see you soon then." Saying that she just fled from there. And I silently watched her leave. 

"This new journey is going to be very hard for me. Because I have to stop myself from going near her when I have already fallen in love with her. Where were you all this time? Why didn't I find you earlier? Then I wouldn't have to face this phase. We would be living a happy life together with our child. But now it's not possible. I don't know what game Fate is going to play this time. But I only wish nothing bad happened to my love. Though I can't be with you, I'll make sure you are safe and sound. And if this time my beast tried to do anything to you I'll kill him and myself as well. This time I'll protect my love with my everything. I promise I won't let anything happen to you. You are the only one I love with all my heart. And I wish we can be together." I looked at the starry sky, sighing heavily.
