Chapter 3: Breaking the rule

CAMILLA

Caden being a mortal, he's so cruel...

He imprisoned me in a dungeon. But compared to the ordeals I suffered in the Aztarion Abyss, this situation seemed bearable.

I can endure it. 

But this frail human body was nothing without a wolf. Though, Im still the moonlight Princess, but using power for me is forbidden. Hays!

The cell I'm in, looks like the cell of the previous owner of this body, as she was called earlier as Camilla. Caden actually explained how he killed her. 

How heartless...

Also, the aura of the Guardian wolf of Divine Flame is no longer in him. He's now a possessing the demon wolf. Suffering, vengeance, and cruelty no longer held sway over him. He's close to fulfill the process and all remained is the process of being killed. 

The more enemies he accumulated, the higher the likelihood of his end. 

If I failed to restore his half-spiritual heart he would turn into a Demon Alpha God. To prevent his death, I had to protect him first while starting the process. I couldn't stay in this dungeon, but for now...Ouch! My stomach rumbled, I want food.

As a mortal she-wolf, one day without food would weaken this body. I couldn't rely on my powers for healing because it's forbidden. But of course, he will experience this hunger too. Even if he eats the suffering won't dissipate, it's because of his spiritual heart within me.

That's why my mission is more challenging. 

He must love me and kill me but killing me is the most difficult part. I know he won't do it because he will believe that we shared one life.

Night arrived once again. But nobody came to visit me. Has he still not realize it? I'm starving here. Maybe he satisfied his own hunger with food, unaware that I was the one who need it.

In that thought, made me let out a small smirk as I whispered, "You're so naive, demon wolf."

But I couldn't blame him, he had no memory of his life in the Heavenly Werewolf realm. Now, as a cruel mortal Alpha, he didn't understand what's really going on. 

The night passed, and morning came again. I remained hungry, weak and thirsty. I longed to use my powers to heal but I hold back.

I chose to lie down on the dusty floor. Because of darkness, the extreme cold gnawing my body. I could endure it. But since I suffered here, he can feel it too. Good luck if he can endure it.

No idea how long I had asleep, but the sound of the cell door opening caught my attention. I slowly opened my eyes, sensing the presence of this person.

"Hey, wake up," it's a male voice. I remained still. But the aroma of food filled through the air. It seemed that Caden had finally realized the truth of our situation. "The Alpha ordered to give you food. Get up now and eat."

A smile played on my lips as I got up. "I wonder why he sent me food, despite ordering to not."

I looked into his eyes. I saw a glimmer of mercy. "Don't asked," he says, "just eat and regain your strength."

While speaking, I noticed a flicker of curiosity in his eyes. He even tilted his head just to observe my face intently. "I have question..." I awaited his next words with anticipation. "What really happened? I witnessed your death, you have a hole in your chest, but now you are fully healed. Did the moon goddess send you back? Did you saw her in your dream?"

This man before me seems too young yet his attitude, it looks like he used to being good to Camilla. As the Moonlight Princess, I could see the nature of his wolf. I scanned him thoroughly and yeah, he has a Gamma wolf. 

"No, I didn't dreamed about the moon goddess," I answered.

Instead, I saw two Guardian spirits who once possessed this body. They sent by the Elder Guardian wolf to be born as me.

He seemed visibly confused. Scratching his head, he asked, "Umm...but what does that 'Moonlight' mean?"

I just use power to emerge from that grave. That's the cause of the moonlight. I summoned it to save myself. I responded, "I know the reason but I can't tell you what."

He chuckled and nodded. "Okay, Even you won't say it, it's obvious that the moonlight brought you back to life." He stood up and shook his head sighing. "Poor Camilla, but luckily, the Alpha thought to give you food." His eyes flickered towards the food on the floor. "Eat it now."

I watched his back as he left the cell. When he closed the door, their voices echoed in my ears.

"What did she say? Did you discover something?"

"She said she can't tell the reason why the moonlight appeared and she's still powerless. Her wolf is really died, her scent is faint, her energy is feeble. Maybe the moon goddess just brought her back to life and that's all."

"Is that so? But why do I have this feeling that the moon goddess chose her for a reason?"

"I second to that and if it's true, there's a possibility that she can reclaim this pack from Alpha Kael."

So, Alpha Kael is Caden's name in his mortal form. Okay, I got your name now.

"But we cannot betray the Alpha, what if she is not powerful and the Alpha kill her again?"

Their voices gradually faded. I started eating too. It's a cup of rice and a meat dish and yeah, I recognized the food, it triggered a memory within this body. It was something Camilla used to wish.

After I finished eating, then time is running, I expected another meal in the evening but no one came. It looks like I would only have food once a day. How dare you, Caden...

But inside this dark place I heard a woman's cry. Her voice sounded distress as if she was being forcibly subjected to something. I also heard the sound of a cell door opening, proving that they had placed the woman inside.

"Prepare, mutt. You will be executed tomorrow by poisoning the Alpha! So good luck."

That caught my attention makes me look at the door. Someone want to poison Caden?

"No, I didn't put poison in the food, believe me please someone's trying to frame me!"

Had Caden eat the food? This pushed me to take a peek at him. I had to use my power, so closing my eyes, I examined his state in my mind. He clutches his chest, and spit the blood, it makes me understand that he indeed ate the food. This is bad, he couldn't die now.

I had no choice but to break the rule again. In my mind I healed him, by removing the poison from his body. I apologized to the moon goddess for my violations, I couldn't save everyone without taking such actions. I was prepared to face any consequences as long as I can do what is right.

Caden sensed my presence, but he remained naive about who I am. Surprise can be seen in his eyes as he asked, "W-Who are you?" Instead of responding, I focused on taking out the poison from his body. "Moon goddess?"

That's surprised me, he mentioned the Moon goddess, proving his belief that the moon goddess is the one who's saving him. I desired to say yes, but I couldn't lie, especially the name of the Moon goddess is involved. But I mentally communicate him, saying, "The Moon goddess has always there for you. She will not allow you to destroy yourself."

"D-Destroy what? Myself? I'm not destroying myself, w-who the hell are you? You are not the Guardian wolf of Divine Flames, I mean...you're a female."

His question left me this curiosity. "Why do you expect that you can talk to the Gaurdian wolf of Divine Flame?"

"H-He granted me power to save me from suffering. I saw him in my dream and...He told me to use this power to avenge what I went through."

I didn't expect his self-belief, he's also the Gaurdian wolf of Divine Flame. I told him, "The real Guardian wolf of Divine Flame would not advice you to get revenge. He's one of the moon goddess trusted Guardians. The power you possess is indeed divine, it's yours but it has been manipulated by your inner demon."

"W-What?"
