Vanessa POV
The air smelt like lavender flowers in the beautiful garden. I sat on the picnic mat, dressed in a mini sundress and entwined in Edward’s arms. My giggles and laughter echoed out of me as he tickled my body. His sexy grin, very alluring and full of mischief made it almost impossible for me to be annoyed. “Alright fine. You win!” I screamed cheerfully managing to push his hands away as I escaped from his embrace. I got up from the mat and spun around in excitement. Edward leaned back on his elbows and crossed his legs, watching me with those piercing blue eyes that saw right through my soul. “Nessa,” he spoke, calling to me softly with a hint of sudden seriousness in his tone. “I don’t think I’ve ever been this happy.” I froze, eyes lighting up as I walked back to the mat and positioned my self on top of him. “Oh yeah? Not even when you won the gambling lottery last week?” I asked, raising my eyebrows as I joked. Edward laughed, shaking his head in opposition. “That’s not even close” he leaned in, moving so close till our lips almost touched. “Nessa you make everything else seem small. It feels like nothing else matters but you.” His words sank into my heart, drawing me into a feeling I never knew had existed before. “I love you.” He whispered to me, trailing my neck with soft kisses as he inhaled my scent. “Oh Edward, I love you too.” I replied, the words running out before I could even stop to think. But I meant it. His eyes met with mine as he kissed me fully, connecting our lips. This moment felt beautiful, but in the blink of an eye, it shattered like glass. The setting shifted, twisting into something darker. I stood in the hallway of our college dorm with trembling hands, Staring at the screen on my phone. It was Edward. Kissing another girl. One who wasn’t me. The whispers of college students followed me as I walked swiftly through the campus, looking for a way to escape. The students gave me pity stares like I was some charity case. “Nessa please. Wait!” I heard Edward say calling out to me. But I ignored him. My vision blurred with tears as I ran into the drama theater, needing some distance, and fresh air. But their judging looks followed me, the hurtful whispers, growing even louder. “Did she really think he would be loyal to her?” A brunette girl mocked as she spoke to her friend group, knowing fully well that I could see and hear her. “No, She thought she would change him” one of them replied, and then they continued to ramble. “But Guys like that don’t stick around.” “Vanessa thinks she’s special.” “I guess he’s not as perfect as she thought.” Feeling choked, I ran out of the room sobbing heavily. somehow, Edward caught up to me, grabbing me by the arm. “Let me explain myself Nessa—“ “I don’t need your explanation!” I yelled at him, pulling my arm away from his embrace. “You lied to me, Edward! You made me feel like I was enough for you! Like I was everything, and then you—“ I stopped my voice cracking as I let out a sob. I couldn’t finish. I turned from him and ran away, my heart racing with every step. The memory dissolved into darkness, as I woke up with a jolt, my breathing fast paced and unstable. From the window, Sunlight passed through and my eyes adjusted to a figure sitting on the armchair beside my bed. It was Edward. His face looked softer than I had seen in a while, his usual stoic expression was replaced by something more…tender. It made me feel uneasy, pulling at the part of my heart I tried to bury. “For how long have you been sitting there?” I asked him, my voice still a little hoarse from sleep. “Long enough.” He said to me, a faint smile forming on his lips. “You were restless.” Slowly, I sat up. Wincing at the feeling of a dull pain from the accident. Edward moved closer to me, his concern visible at every inch of his face. “Don’t push yourself Nessa.” He said, hovering his hand near mine, almost touching but not. I watched him very closely, and the feelings and memories from the past flooded my mind. The time he made me feel like I was his entire world, the time where he shattered the facade with a single betrayal. “it’s difficult to rest with you hovering over me.” I said lowly, the words sharper than I thought. He didn’t reply, but his jaw tightened. He stood up from the chair and adjusted the duvet around me. “I’ll be working from home for the next few days. I want to ensure both you and Liam remain safe.” He said with a calm and soft tone. To be safe. Of course. Edward always has his way of fixing things. Pulling himself into protector mode. Like that would take away the hurt he has caused me. ** The maids and extra help were back to their duties since the interrogation revealed they were clean. After we had breakfast, Edward insisted on escorting me to the hospital and taking Liam to school. 4 body guards trailed behind us, their presence to me was a constant reminder of the danger I was unable to escape. As we walked to the school gates, Liam clung closely to Edward’s hand. His cute little face beamed with excitement as Edward gave him a brand new bag pack filled with so many treats. “Wow! Thank you Dad” Liam said . Edward’s face softened immediately. It was the first time he called him ‘Dad’ After we dropped Liam at school, it was straight to the hospital for my checkup. From the Doctor’s Analysis I was healing pretty well. But I could still feel the effects of the accident. Edward’s driver came with another car to take him elsewhere. “I’m going for a meeting Nessa. Donovan and the guards will take you home to rest.” He said to me. “Sure “ I nodded in response. But deep down I had other plans. Since Daniel wasn’t calling me or responding to my texts, there was only one way to get his attention. I had to do something I had never done before.Vanessa POVThe body guards won’t let me out of their sight, so I pleaded for 20 minutes of space before they came looking for me again. Daniel had given me the address to his company earlier, so I planned to confront him there. When I got to the entrance, the site of the company label boldly written over the high rise roof came to view. “Westborne Inc.” I said the name, walking into what felt like another world. The interior looked very modern, sleek and exotic. Everything shined like it was just newly polished and it made the ambience more appealing. I adjusted the hem of my pink dress, letting the soft silk press against my skin. It’s part of the dresses I bought on the afternoon of the accident. The corset waist held me firmly, extenuating my curves. I paired it with nude heels that caused the marble floors to click as I made my way to the receptionist. Vanessa POV The crowd of men cheered for me as I swayed my hips slowly, moving my ass in motion with my waist as one of my legs curled round the dancing pole. The night is still young and judging from the looks of it, I've made over a thousand dollars just from dancing seductively. Stripping was never a job option for me, coming out of law school I knew I had the biggest ambitions ahead. All of a sudden the plans changed and here I am, dressed in an all black lingerie and bra with black pointy heels and fish nets that clung to my curvy body. The masked theme of the strip club made it even much better for the strippers to feel comfortable. The only people who could see our faces were the men who paid big money. The elites. On a lively Saturday night like this one, they would surely be here in a few minutes. The girls and I were saving our energy so we could give them a show. If you're lucky, one would offer to fuck and we would make even more money. The music changed again,
Vanessa POV Edward ushered me into the room as he took his jacket off, placing it on the bed. "What is your name darling?" He asked me. I closed the room door and walked over to meet him. Should I tell him my real name? That will risk everything and he will remember. "I'm lady red." "That is so sexy. Your body is amazing too." He complimented. I went closer to him and straddled him while he sat on the bed. I put my arm around his neck and took in his handsomeness. I can't believe I once used to date this man. He is so successful now, and rich. "Are we going to keep talking or are you going to show me what you've got?" I said seductively. Without hesitation, Edward leaned into me for a kiss. I welcomed his advances, sinking my hands into his wonderful hair. His scent smelt the same, but is also enveloped in a more enticing expensive male cologne. Edward Pulled away from the kiss. "Have we met before?" He asked. His tone changed, becoming serious and interrogative. H
Vanessa POV I ran after him, gripping him by the arm. "Edward please, don't take my son away from me." I said, tears building up in my eyes. I never thought my Sunday morning would be like this. Why did Edward have to find out now? He pushed my hand away and turned to me, his face is boiling with anger, his eyes were so scary. It felt like I was staring at a different person. "Your Son? 5 fucking years Vanessa. How could you be so cruel and selfish? Did you hate me so much to keep my son away from me?" I could feel the pain in his voice. "I never wanted to keep him from you Edward. Please just let me explain." I begged not knowing what would come next. Edward looked so angry and devastated. "I'm taking you to court tomorrow. I will gain custody of my son." He began walking away from me and heading towards his car. People on the street were already starting to notice the heated argument and some were staring awkwardly as they passed. I could see Liam standing by t
Vanessa POV Edward's bodyguards helped in loading the SUV with our boxes as I ushered Liam into the car. "Where are we going mommy?" He asked me curiously. I didn't even know what to tell him cause I had no idea of what to expect. But I decided to be hopeful. "We're going to our new home Liam. You're going to love it." I hope my words are true "Yay" he responded to me as he returned his attention to his Nintendo game console. The car stopped and pulled over at a stunning white mansion. It was so beautiful. Nothing like I'd ever seen before in the city of New York. Edward must have just newly acquired this place. It seemed like he was just moving in too. The mansion had big see through gates circled all over it. The design of the gate was very rare and the color was mixed with shiny silver stones like rubies. The gate required a code and had a security camera right outside it. One of the body guards typed it in and the gates flew open, revealing a beautiful garden. The
Vanessa "You live here?" Susan laughed walking closer to me as her eyes scanned my appearance from my head to toe. I may not have much but my fashion style and taste is very classy and expensive. One wouldn't be able to tell I was an average person from just looking at me. I was dressed in a royal blue maxi dress that extenuated my curves and my long red hair was loose and complemented my dress. The only person who didn't appreciate me was Edward. "Yes, I do." i snapped back at her. My mind was roaming all over the place with so many possibilities. "Why?" She asked me. What business is it of hers? "It's complicated. Susan, why are you here?" She was testing my patience . "I'm going out with Edward Silver." She said smoothly, like she didn't know he was my ex and we used to be best friends. We fell out when she moved away from New York to Chicago and couldn't keep up with communication. Now she's back. "Since when?" I asked her, feeling irritated from her words. This thing betw

Since I quit my job I've had more time to myself.Staring through the tinted window of the SUV, I adore the beautiful city of New York. I send Edward texts and calls every now and then, but he doesn't pick or respond to any.Instead I get texts from an unknown number saying "Stay away from Edward. He doesn't want you." I know Susan is the only one petty enough to do that, and the texts are getting more violent. Is this what I have to put up with for the next 6 months? My phone rang. It's my sister Mandi in the UK. Vanessa POV The faint aroma of the pink flowers Edward had set in a vase on the kitchen counter blended with the smell of roast chicken as it spread into the living room. Sunlight poured through the living room's floor-to-ceiling windows as I lay in a warm blanket on the plush couch with my head resting on a pillow. The accident still hurt my body, but the bruises were getting better, and the bandages on my head were about to come off. Every employee at the mansion, including the gardeners and maids, was momentarily removed to be questioned about the accident. For all we know it could have been anyone. "Look, mommy! Check out what I got from Edward!” I was interrupted by Liam's eager voice. His smile might have illuminated the entire mansion as he rushed into the room with a bright red toy race vehicle. Wincing a little at the tug in my lower back, I managed a small grin and sat up straighter. Even though my chest was constricted, I murmured, "That's a really cool car, sweethea
Edward POV I was lost in complete shock. My Nessa got into an accident? How on earth did that happen. Was she with Liam? Are they both safe? I need urgent answers. Feeling restless while seated in the car, I browse through my phone. Fuck. She had sent me some texts already. Why didn't my PA tell me. I place a call to Liam's school. He's still there. I need to get him first before going to see Nessa. I feel so upset about this. Was it a set up? I'd loose myself if anything happens to her. "Drive faster Xavier. This is urgent." I yelled at my driver with hopes to hasten him up. I also texted my private investigator. There's a lot of work to be done. *** Vanessa POV The sounds of police and ambulance sirens echoed in my head as my eyes slowly drifted open. An immediate sharp pain around my head followed, with a feeling of a bandage, wrapped around it. Where was I? My eyeballs moved a little, scanning the location. I am in a hospital, lying flat on a bed, with my le
Vanessa POVThe store guards helped me load the stuff I got into the SUV, since Donovan brought the car upfront. I got into the car and we drove off. "You don't need to apologize, Daniel. Hey let's talk about this tonight." "Fine with me. Can I see that pretty face of yours before I leave you to prepare?" And the awkward moment was gone. He had his way of changing the atmosphere and making it a better one. "Okay hold on." I replied smiling like a 5 year old. Then I muted the call. Before switching to a video call I decided to speak. "We're going to pick Liam from school." I said to Donovan, looking up from my phone to the drivers seat. Suddenly a wave of shock hit me. Donovan wasn't the one driving. Who the hell was this? "Sure." He responded. Maneuvering the car into a corner as my body moved sideways from the aggressive driving. "Where is Donovan?" I asked the strange guy. He was bald, wore an all black outfit and had a snake tattoo at the nape of his neck. "Him and I tak
Vanessa POV I got home that day, waiting anxiously for Edward. You know what he did? Never showed up. It feels like he's running away from me and avoiding confrontation. It's almost 3 days now and he hasn't showed up in the house. I only tried calling him once but I didn't bother my self too much because he's unavailable. Today is Wednesday and I have a date with Daniel. I dropped Liam at school 4 hours ago so I still have some time to myself. After sketching some fashion illustrations, I realized I didn't have anything to wear for the date.I feel very enthusiastic about the outcome. Daniel has made me grow fond of him already and it's barely even two days. We've been texting almost every minute and we had a brief late night call last night. It became so intense and flirtatious. For a guy I barely know I'd say it was quite forward of me. But he has a charm I can't seem to resist and I love it. I want to look very stunning for this date so I thought of going for brief shopping for a
Susan POV My eye balls were red and dripping hot tears from the way Edward had just treated me. I got home, throwing myself on my couch as I thought of the best possible way to get rid of Vanessa. Everything started to go wrong for me the moment that bitch showed up again in Edward's life. Before then I had it all, the money, the attention, the sex. I was number one in Edward's eyes. Even if our relationship started off on a contract for sex and money, it couldn't change the fact that he was starting to grow fond of me. Now it all felt non existent. Why is she suddenly back with him anyway? What's the connection between them? I have to do some digging. But before then, I need to make sure she pays for the embarrassment Edward put me through last night and this morning. If I did it myself, it would be too obvious. Drying my tears I reached for my phone. There is this powerful Hitman I know from Chicago. He has men who work for him all over America. "Hi Rodrigo, it's your
Vanessa POV We sat silently in the Mercedes Benz and drove to the Venue. Not even one word. Just Donovan, playing his music. Edward is playing games with me and I'm not sure I can keep up. I felt like breaking into tears again but I won't give him the satisfaction. I can't keep falling victim of his tricks because my heart still yearns for him. It's time to find a replacement. All the guys I dated after him messed up so I lost hope in finding someone. This time I had to make sure it found a way to work out. I could see tons of people crowding the front building of Edward's Company. The name written boldly at the top of the high rise building. 'Silver Tech and co.' One of the leading and most successful tech and business oriented companies in the world. They are into Technology, Business, Finance, stocks and inventions of some popular electrical appliances here in New York. As we got closer to the entrance, I could see paparazzi ready for action with their cameras and some
