AVYANNA'S POV
"Mmm...mmph..." I grumbled with great efforts as Evander was practically pressing my face into his chest, making me unable to breathe or speak.
"Damn it, Avyanna. How can you be like this? You have no idea how scared I was when Alex told me you were fighting with those girls. Do you have to be so reckless? It's been so long since I cared for someone other than my family, and you are not making it easy for me. I want to protect you, Avyanna, but how am I supposed to do that when you are hell-bent on finding trouble?" He asked me, the emotion in his words, making me pause my struggling.
Did I scare him that much for him to react like this? Was he so concerned for me that he couldn’t control his emotions and actions? But how can this be possible? I haven’t even met him for more than 24 hours, and doesn’t he have a reputation of being a cold-hearted devil?
Then again, he has not even once treated me with anything but care. Does he really care for me that much? I couldn’t help but think as I felt some weird emotions swirling inside my heart.
As if bothered by my lack of response, he created some distance between us before forcing me to look at him as he placed a finger under my chin.
"Why did the council head's son help you? I was pretty much sure that I won't let anything happen to you and will find a way to protect you. He came along and messed everything," He said, his eyes hardening, making me smile at his childishness.
Honestly, from his behavior and words, I wasn't even sure if he was annoyed that I got into trouble or he was annoyed because he wasn't the one who helped me through it.
Is he bothered because he wasn’t able to act as the hero in this scenario? I couldn’t help but think before smiling inside my head.
"Evander, why don't we bring this chat at home? This is school. People will start talking otherwise if they saw their cold and unbothered Mr. Sterling hug a girl out of nowhere," I reminded him, and he looked at me observantly, making me a bit fidgety.
Come on, don’t look at me like that. You unnerve me every time you look at me with that piercing expression. I wanted to say but stopped thinking otherwise.
"I liked the way you called that house your home, and you are right, we will talk about this at home. Anyway, since you are in my next lecture, let's go," He said, and I nodded my head before a question popped inside my head.
"This reminds me, how many subjects do you teach? I saw my timetable, and for some reason, I have most lectures with you?" I couldn't help but ask as I even my position and was about to step out when the door of the room was jerked open.
"Rose, I brought you - oh, Mr. Sterling, you are also here," Cassandra stopped in between as she looked between me and Evander.
"What are you doing here, Cassandra?" I asked to divert her attention, and she nodded at me before throwing what looked like a bag of clothes at me, making me relax.
"I brought you these. Come with me. I'll help you shower in the girls' locker room by the playground, and you can change into these. I am sure you wouldn’t want to go around the school dressed like that," Cassandra said urgently, looking at me hopefully, and I smiled at her thoughtfulness.
"Mr. Sterling, I don't think I will be able to attend the lecture, drenched in the juice like this. Can you give me and Cassandra a fifteen minutes Pass?" I asked Evander, and he nodded his head at me.
"I can do that, but both of you should be back within fifteen minutes. I don't want another teacher complaining to me about my students strolling and having too much fun during study hours," He said, and I nodded my head before smiling at Cassandra.
"Let's go," I told her as soon as we got the pass, leaving Evander behind.
"Jeez, that guy intimidates me," Cassandra commented as soon as we were some distance from the infirmary.
"Who? Mr. Sterling? Why would you say that? I don't think he is intimidating. On the contrary, I think he is quite helpful and polite," I commented, and she scoffed at me.
"Of course, you would say that. You thought it was no problem in fighting Melinda and her tiny group either. Though almost all the girls are head over heels for him, and he is not generally rude to anyone, his cold look scares me to bones,” Cassandra said, and I nodded my head as we walked.
I know what Cassandra was saying was probably true, but for some reason, I don’t think I will ever be able to find him intimidating. If anything, he was quite cute.
‘Yeah, I bet what other alphas and rogues will have to say to you regarding this statement,’ my wolf said, and I rolled my eyes.
“Anyway, I heard the council head's son from the Werewolf community helped you? He is the student representative in this school, and from what I've observed, he is always uptight. I have barely seen him smiling at anyone," Cassandra said, and I smiled at the faint memories of the past.
"I know why he helped me. Actually, I know him from when I was -" I paused when we turned, and I bumped into someone.
Looking up, I squinted my brows when I saw a familiar face.
Wait. Where had I seen him?
Yes, hadn't Cassandra mentioned him? The future alpha of the sinister pack.
What was his name again?
Anyway, what does it have to do with me? This Sinister pack doesn't sound anything pleasing to me after what happened.
"Sorry about that, I wasn’t looking," I said politely and was about to move around him when he stepped in front of me, making me look up at him.
"Is there a problem?" I asked, looking him straight in the eyes, ready to go down with another fight if he messed with me.
"Christian? What do you think you are doing? If you are here to threaten her because of what she did to Melinda, then let me tell you very clearly, that girls deserved that," Cassandra spoke, surprising me a little.
Didn't she say she won't meddle in my business and won’t help me if I got into trouble?
"I..." The guy called Christian started, breaking me from my thoughts as I looked at him, waiting for him to finish.
"I am sorry on behalf of what my pack members did. I will make sure they are punished severely. Please forgive them for their ignorance. I hope we can be friends in the future?" He asked, extending his hand, taking me by surprise again.
Friends? Wasn't he supposed to support his pack members and make life hard for me?
'Well, don't you remember? Cassandra said he is a good person. Maybe he is ashamed of them and just wants to apologize on their behalf?' My wolf said, and I shrugged my shoulders.
"That’s fine now. I wasn’t easy on them either. I just hope they or anyone from your pack don't mess with me uselessly. I am not a saint, Mr. Alpha. People get on my nerves, and I make it to myself to unnerve them and break their bones. I treat people how they treat me. I hope we can study peacefully," I said and was about to extend my hand to shake his when my hand was gripped from behind me, making me turn around as I felt the familiarity.
"Here you are. I have been looking for you since you left with Mr. Sterling. And wait, what are you doing here? Don't mess around with the bad people," he said while looking at Christian, and I had to bite the inside of my cheeks to stop myself from laughing at his annoyed expression.
Seriously? Bad people?
"Bad people? So now I am the bad person in the school? Last time I checked, you are the one who always acts like something is up his ass," Christian retorted before scoffing and looking at me.
"Don't mind his words, Miss?" He asked, and I sighed.
"Avyanna Roosevelt," I said, and he nodded his head.
"Avyanna, please don't mind his words. He has no social life himself, and when someone else is trying to make new friends, he can't help but butt in and destroy things," Christian said, making me knit my brows.
Why would he say it like that? Does he have no friends? How can that be possible?
"First, you left me and now you are talking to other boys in my absence? Do you have no heart? How can you do this to your boyfriend, my love?" He said before practically turning me around to look at him, and I coughed on my saliva as I looked at him bewildered.
"Dude! Seriously? What are you saying?" I almost shrieked while looking around me at Cassandra and Christian, shaking my head wanting to tell them that things weren't like how he was portraying them.
"I am speaking facts, my love. Go get yourself cleaned first. We will talk about our relationship after that, not to forget how you left me without even uttering a word last time," Nathaniel said with a pained expression, his expression making me feel guilty as I had indeed left him without telling him anything about my departure when my mom had found a new job in the Canopy pack.
"Nathan, I am sorry. I had never intended to -" I started, but he shook his head before placing his finger on my lips, making me look at him helplessly.
"I don't want to hear it now. We will have a proper chat on how you broke my heart," He said before looking at me with a pout.
"Hello? As far as I know, I was the one who started the conversation here," Christian stepped in between, looking at me helplessly, and I sighed before looking at him.
"Alpha Christian, as I have said, we are good as long as your pack members don't mess with me. Regarding my friendship, I choose my friends myself. I hope we can stay clear of any trouble," I said, smiling at him politely.
"You heard that dude? She chooses her friends herself, and among all of us, you are not her friend here. Why don't you see yourself out?" Nathaniel said, looking at Christian dangerously, and I placed my hand on his arm, waiting for him to calm down.
“You!” Christian said, looking at Nathaniel before he took a deep breath and looked at me.
"That's okay, Avyanna. I am sure we will be friends soon," Christian said, more like announced as if that was some kind of challenge, and I was about to tell him that he shouldn't be bothering with anything when Nathaniel placed his palm on my hand on his arm before turning me to look at him.
"Can you stop talking and just go already? We have a lot to catch up on. I don't think as my girlfriend you should be talking to other guys. Rather, you should be talking about how you left me," he said, and I sighed before pressing his arm comfortingly.
"You are just exaggerating things, Nathan. I know I was in the wrong, but I wasn't your girlfriend or anything. We were homework buddies and -"
"Cassandra, why don't you take her to the playground to freshen up. Or will you prefer me to go with you?" He asked me with a wink, and I gulped before shaking my head frantically.
"You are a scoundrel," I mumbled under my breath, and he pinched my chin, making me lookup.
"Yes, I am a scoundrel, but only for you. Now go before I prove that I am a bad boy," He said, and before I could say or do anything, he kissed my cheek, making me widen my eyes, and I was about to scold him for doing something so shamelessly in public when my eyes caught Evander's angry eyes who was walking towards us from behind Nathaniel and knowing all too well this wasn't the right time to cause another ruckus, I took Cassandra's hand before starting to move towards the playground.
"Avyanna, Avyanna," Cassandra spoke, but I shook my head, not wanting to stop.
"Not right now, Cassandra. I will explain everything to you once we are out of those boys' sight," I said, my mind going back to Evander's angry eyes.
Even when I have met Nathaniel after so long and he was once my crush, and then I met with Christian, who was considered one of the hottest boys in the school, for some reason, the only person going inside my head was my not-so-brother Evander, and the thought alone was unnerving me.
Why? Because I will have to face him back home, and I don't think I was ready to give him the answers he might demand of me.
"Avyanna, I wasn't going to ask you about what is your deal with the council head's son or how lucky you are that Christian came with a proposal of friendship towards you. Rather, I wanted to tell you that we have been going in the wrong direction. The girls' locker room of the playground is the other way," Cassandra said, and I stopped, making her bump into me before I looked at her sheepishly.
"I am sorry for dragging you for so long. Please show me the way," I said as I looked out of the window while she led the way.
Looking at the changing weather, I realized this must have happened when I had gotten angry in the canteen, and thus, I smiled before taking a deep breath as I closed my eyes for a second, concentrating on my happiness before opening my palm to let the energy envelope the environment.
Opening my eyes, I smiled when the weather changed back to normal.
Sighing loudly, I was about to turn to look at Cassandra when I found her looking at me already.
"What the hell did you just do?" She asked me, her eyes turning a shade darker.
Shit. Just why the hell did I have to perform this while I was still in someone’s company?
Chapter-14 AVYANNA'S POV "What did I do?" I couldn't help but ask her as she looked at me closely before shrugging her shoulders. "Well, you know, your eyes just changed colors, and I thought you were going to attack me from behind," Cassandra said, smiling sheepishly at me, and I squinted my brows. "Why the hell will I attack you from behind? And wait. My eyes changed colors?" I couldn't help but ask, and she nodded her head. "Yeah, and it wasn't like some normal color I've seen on werewolves. It was a little bit violet, like those of witches," She said with confusion in her eyes, and I knitted my brows. "You must be seeing things. How can I change my eye color like that of a witch? Maybe it's because of the reflection from the window," I said, and she nodded her head before pushing the clothes in my hand and ushering me inside the locker room. “Now go and hurry up. I don’t want Mr. Sterling to glare at us because we are late. That guy is scary,” Cassandra said, and I nodded my
Chapter-15AVYANNA'S POV"Avyanna? Are you okay? Where are you looking?" Cassandra asked me, and I looked at her before pointing towards where that man was standing."Don't you find that guy over there suspicious? Behind that tree," I asked her, and she followed my gaze before knitting her brows."Which guy are you talking about, Avyanna? There is no one there," She said, and I looked at her before looking back at the place."You are not looking properly. Can't you see the man standing over there wearing that weird mask?" I asked again, and she looked at me as if she was looking at some dumb person."Seriously, Avyanna. If you are trying to pull some kind of joke or prank, then let me tell you, it isn't funny. Stop being childish, and get your ass down here. Let me enjoy the game. It's not every day that I have someone I can share my excitement with," She said, a sad look flashing through her eyes, and I sighed before biting my lips as I sat beside her.Looking around, not really know
AVYANNA’S POVShit! What should I say to him? Should I deny it and say I don't know what he was talking about, or should I ask him how he knows about that? If I ask him how he knows that, then won’t I be agreeing to the matter and indirectly telling him that he was right? That my mood indeed changes the environment around me? What if he is just testing me? But what if he indeed knows something about it and can help me find out why I am like this in the first place? Then again, can I really trust a person I have met for the first time? I mean, though he looks decent, wasn’t he staring at me like a stalker earlier? Not to mention how he wasn’t even visible to anyone else apart from me. What if he has some kind of powers to make me feel relaxed around him, and is actually here to harm me or spy on me?“You. What are you talking about? What change in the environment? I am a normal werewolf -” I started, stopping when he started speaking.“Seriously? Are you going to deny things just lik
Chapter-17AVYANNA'S POV"Get me down this instant!" I shouted angrily when I couldn't get down, no matter how many times I tried to jump.'Avyanna, don't get angry. They are just playing with you,' My wolf started, and I couldn't help but scoff.'They are playing with me? I get that. But is this any way to play with me? Do you think I have so much patience? Well, you definitely chose the best day to play with me when my heart is already aching with what my mother did with me,' I said, feeling a little guilty immediately after I said that.'Avyanna, they are sorry. Don't get too angry,' My wolf said, and after what felt like an eternity, they finally put me down on the bed. After settling on the bed, I closed my eyes, wanting to calm myself down. Biting my lips, I sighed, feeling guilty, not knowing what to say.'I... I am sorry. I don't know why I got so annoyed. Maybe it's because I can't communicate with you guys myself, and I feel like I am going insane with all this talking insid
Chapter-18EVANDER'S POV"Apart from the fact that you messed with the girls from the Sinister pack, befriended the demon's daughter, rejected the friendship of the alpha of the Sinister pack, and met with your childhood friend who turned out to be the council head's son, how was your day?" I asked her when she didn't say anything for a good ten minutes. "I don't know. It was okayish, I guess? So many things happened in a single day that the general view of the school left my mind long ago. Honestly, I didn’t expect my first day of school to be like this either," She answered me casually before going back to devouring the food like it was the best thing in the world, and I couldn't help as my lips curved slightly. From the way she was eating without looking anywhere or minding her manners, it was obvious that she was a foodie, and I kind of liked it. There was something about the way she was enjoying her food that improved my appetite, making the food look tastier than usual. The fo
Chapter-19AVYANNA'S POV"Dang, the girl has guts. Don't you think so?" I heard Cassandra from beside me, and I looked up to see what she was talking about, squinting my brows when I noticed the scene in front of me."I don't see what you are talking about. Does doing something like this need guts? I just find this behavior extremely repellent," I said, going back to doodling.I wasn't fazed by what was happening around me earlier, but now that I have seen it, it was hard for me to concentrate on anything else. How can a person be so shameless? After I was sure that no matter how much I try, I won’t be able to concentrate on my doodling, I looked up at Evander's helpless expression as he looked at the human girl in front of him, who was practically trying to shove her chest in his face."Poor him. Everyone in the supernatural species knows who he is and doesn't mess with him, but he can't be with these humans who are oblivious to his wrath and try their luck," Cassandra commented, a
Chapter-20AVYANNA'S POV"You are going to wear that while clubbing?" Evander asked me as he passed by me in the living room with a file in his hand.Turning my head, I stared at him for a good few seconds, feeling attracted to the manly vibes he was emanating. The way his sleeves were rolled just below his elbows, showing off his veins with his shirt doing nothing to hide his biceps, I couldn't help but gulp my saliva.Just why the hell does this man have to be illogically sexy and handsome? Every time I look at him and feel like this, I feel like a criminal who is sinning by looking at him.I know I was not allowed to have designs on him because he is kind of still my stepbrother, but what do I do with these emotions? These emotions that feel allured by this forbidden man?"Are you going to answer me anytime soon, or are you planning to check me out for the whole night?" Evander smirked at me, and I looked up at him, noticing for the first time that he came so close to me."Yeah, I
Chapter-21AVYANNA'S POVJudging from Christian’s stance and body language, I was sure he was about to turn into his wolf. However, even after a few seconds, he didn't change, rather he looked at me with an amused smile, his eyes going back to their natural color."Did you just threaten an alpha? Are you for real? From where the hell do you get so many guts to act like this? Are you some powerful person in disguise? No one has ever talked to me like this, but strangely, rather than feeling angry, I am amused," Christian said, and I scoffed, feeling my anger rising at his statement. What was so amusing about it? Does he doubt I won't be able to beat his ass?Hmph! I am sure he will look at me with dropped jaws if he came to know about me. How stupid of him to think that I was weak. Arrogant son of a -"Are you cursing me now?" He asked me, and I raised my eyes, amazed that he could read my mind."Well, judging from your reaction, I guess you indeed were," Christian said, and I scoffed
Chapter-142After 7 months~~~~AVYANNA'S POV"Well, well, well, look at my beautiful sister. Aren't you looking like a devil in disguise?" Alcinder said, and I pouted before looking at Seth."Don't mind him. You look as beautiful as ever," Seth's eyes sparkled, and I smiled with gratitude. After his and my powers formed the bridge and merged with each other, Seth said he was more than content. According to him, when I saved his life by almost sacrificing my identity as a princess, his love already felt justified. "Seth, Alcinder, are you going to be her bridesmaid? I asked you to arrange girls!" Alina said, and I chuckled at their weirded-out expressions.Alina was Seth's girlfriend. She was the daughter of the witches of the Blood diamond Clan. They have been going out for a few months now, and to say I was amused by Seth's awkwardness that I felt through our powers would be an understatement. There were times when I used to burst out laughing in the middle of a meeting because of
Chapter-141AVYANNA'S POV"Evander?" I blinked softly."I am here, Sweetheart," I closed my eyes again as darkness consumed me.~~~"What's going on? I don't understand it,""I wish I could answer you, son, but I have no idea. Something like this hasn't happened in the past century. Where did she learn all this information from? Since we have no idea how this was conducted, and what kind of spells she used, we don't know what we are after," "I understand what you are saying, but is there no one else who can help us?""Maybe Seth can, but as you know -" "It's a pity. She tried such a powerful incantation, and couldn't -"The last sentence caught my attention. My head was pounding like someone was hammering something in my brain. What was happening around me? Was I hearing voices, or was someone really talking?"Avyanna, Avyanna. Dad, her heartbeat has quickened its pace. I think she is gaining consciousness," it was definitely Evander's voice."Ev-Evander," I murmured softly, my thr
Chapter-140Third Person's POVTo say Avyanna was angry and dangerous would be an understatement. She was lethal. With her growls as loud as thunderclaps of a stormy night, with the speed of light, she rushed to Evander, and before Dante could even touch Evander, she held his dagger, stopping him inches away from Evander. "I was caught off-guard once, but not again," Avyanna said before she looked at Trevor with disgust."I really tried my best to not take away the only family member you have," Avyanna said before she kicked Evander away, making him land a few meters away as the blade of the dagger dug deeper into her skin.Quickly standing, Evander looked at Avyanna holding Dante's dagger in her hand, which was drawing blood now."Leave it," Dante seethed through his gritted teeth, and Avyanna laughed darkly."I won't. Let's end this quickly and cleanly. I was trying to repay Trevor for his goodwill, but it's good for good and bad for bad. You hurt the one person that was like my cl
Chapter-139AVYANNA'S POV"Nervous?" Evander asked me, and I looked at him before humming."Don't worry. Just remember, no matter what the outcome is, I will always be there for you. I will protect you with my life," Evander smiled before he sat on his knees and kissed my abdomen, making my heart melt."Are we ready to go?" Dad appeared out of nowhere, and I nodded before looking at Evander, who rolled his eyes and stood straight. After a two-hour drive, Evander parked our car one kilometer away from the Carnival. "I am sure he would already know I have arrived because they can feel my energy. So it would be useless to stop this far. You guys come slowly from different paths since we can't reveal all our presences at the same time," I looked at Seth and Kyle, who nodded their heads at me.Taking the weapon, I hide it inside my top on my back, under the jacket. It was good Dad Enzo built a scabbard for this weapon so that I could hide it without getting hurt myself. "Let's go," Evan
Chapter-138AVYANNA'S POV"Are you tired?" Alcinder whispered in my ears, and I smiled at him awkwardly."A little bit," I sighed before smiling at another person who brought a gift to congratulate me on becoming the luna of the Enceladus pack. It's been exactly five hours since this process started, and I am standing on this podium. Even my jaws were aching from all the smiles I was doing. It was like filling the quota for the whole year. Now don’t get me wrong. I was grateful to every person coming here to congratulate me, but I was a little overwhelmed. This session could have been divided into sections, no?"Welcome to the family, Luna Avyanna. We hope you can look after us as our mother," One of the old ladies said, and I bit the inside of my cheeks to keep myself from laughing out loud. The old lady was probably 80-90 years old, and she expected me to act as a mother. Why don't you act like my grandmother? I sighed, and Erryn glared at me in my mind. From the moment we have comp
Chapter-137THIRD PERSON'S POV"Trevor," King Dante said, making Trevor pause in his steps."What is it, Dante?" Trevor asked."Where have you been these days, Trevor? I feel like you are never home. Always hopping here and there. Is something wrong? Or is there something going on that I have no idea about?" Dante leaned back in his chair, and Trevor's smile faltered for a second. Thankfully, Dante wasn't looking at him and at the file in his hand, or he would've immediately found out."There's nothing like that, brother. You know what kind of scenario we are going through. If things got worse, we might actually need to fight those dogs and old ladies with the wands. I am just trying to alert all the demons and train them for the worst," Trevor smiled, and Dante raised his brows before closing the file."Yeah? Is that why you have been visiting the Enceladus pack behind my back?" Dante asked, and Trevor smiled."Knowing your enemy's moves is equally important while preparing yours. I
Chapter-136AVYANNA'S POV"Is it over?" That's the first thing that came to my mind as I started to gain consciousness. To say the shift was painful would be an understatement. It was like a nightmare. It was so painful that I don't even remember when I lost consciousness. The last thing I remember is yelling at Erryn."Avyanna, do you feel it? My powers?" Erryn asked me, and I looked around, confused. I felt like I was in some kind of space. It wasn't terrifying or dark but familiar. Wait. Was it in my mind space? Does that mean -? I looked around more clearly before I saw I was standing on my paws rather than my legs. My white paws that looked like a dog's, I mean Wolf's. Erryn was in control of my body. And maybe that's why I was forced into the back of my mind. Honestly, it felt a little weird to be conscious and not be able to move your body of your accord. Is this how Erryn felt for 18 years? 'We should let Cyrus know about this,' I suggested, and Erryn raised her head before
Chapter-135AVYANNA'S POV"Are you guys done talking?" Evander asked, and I hummed before smiling at Trevor, who nodded back."I have told you my plans. I hope you guys get a way around it," Trevor said before disappearing, and I plopped on the couch near Evander with a tired sigh, heat rushing to my head again because of using those flames. "What did you tell him to act like that? He almost looked wary of something," Kyle asked me, and I shrugged."I didn't do anything. Just told him to not double cross us, or I won't think twice before wiping their whole species from this earth," I smiled, and Kyle raised his brows before nodding."Good job. Even if we can't do it, we can at least show we are not someone to be truffled with," Kyle's words made everyone nod."That was the whole point of it. Evander, we should connect with other species and let them know what is happening here. In the worst-case scenario, we would know who is on our side, and we can count on them," I looked at Evande
Chapter-134AVYANNA'S POVSeeing the pack members training so hard, I smiled. As if Evander felt my presence, he paused in his actions before he raised his head in the air, sniffing the air, making me chuckle inside my head. This is so wolfish. "Evander," I said, and he turned to me with wide eyes before he appeared right in front of me in a second."Avyanna," He didn't give me a moment to say anything, pulling me in for a hug, and I sighed, hugging him tightly, missing his touch and his chest drumming against mine. "What the hell? Is this why you called Alcinder and Seth and kept a secret from me? F*ck, you smell divine," he growled in my ears, and without giving me any explanation, he dug his teeth into my neck, making me gasp and widen my eyes."Evander," I whispered, clenching my eyes shut to stop the moan that was itching to escape my lips, knowing all too well everyone was watching us. However, it looked like Evander had no control over Cyrus right now."Damn it. You are not
