--The Nydisian Kingdom, Country of Balewen, Wikerstone Manor--
The ladies in waiting alongside Minister Wikerstone's youngest daughter gossiped freely while having their afternoon tea.
Word had spread in less than a day that the General had returned and has now assumed the position of King.
Everyone in the kingdom knew just how powerful the general was and for him to ascend the throne did three things to the citizens of Nydisia.
Those that hoped to oppose him, hid in their own shadows. Those that hoped to gain his favour, continued to seek it. And those that hoped to be his wife, were more determined than ever now that he was King.
"Oh, you don't have to be rude about it, Macie. I'm merely pointing out that if he was to be wed, it wouldn't be with someone that can't fit into her newly made corsets," Lady Murie retorted while placing her teacup back on her tray.
The woman who went by the name Lady Macie was fuming at Lady Murie for insinuating that she was getting fat and that she had no chances with the King.
Lady Macie and Lady Murie were half-sisters, as they shared the same father. Their father, Count Baret, was the Earl of a county in Sareweth.
Although they were sisters, most of the time, they would end up bickering with each other over pointless things.
Count Baret had sent his daughters to be ladies in waiting for the minister's daughter hoping they would learn some decency and gain even a fraction of the sophistication that was expected of them.
As Lady Macie was about to insult her half-sister, Lady Victoria entered the room in her high collared corset dress and took her seat at the head of the table as a maid quickly rushed to serve the lady.
Lady Victoria and her four ladies in waiting were daughters of noblemen and were highly valued in the social society as they were beautiful ladies yet to be wed.
Lady Victoria Wikerstone is the daughter of Lord Wikerstone who works as an extremely esteemed minister in the castle. Her brother, Lord Killian Wikerstone, also took up work in the castle, which left her in charge of the Wikerstone manor in Balewen.
Despite receiving countless marriage requests, Lady Victoria had her eye on one man. A man she was once engaged to.
If anyone had a chance of being Mrs. Williams, she would be the front runner up. Everyone knew of her relationship with the General, she made sure of it.
Even when their engagement broke, she told people it was because he was going off on a dangerous mission and didn't want to cause her heartache, and people believed it.
"Ladies, I don't appreciate you speaking of being with my future husband, I find it very disrespectful." Lady Victoria got tired of hearing the four parrots in front of her yap her ear off.
They immediately stopped talking and muttered their apologies for offending the Lady of the house.
The ladies knew out of all of them, Lady Victoria stood the better chance of being at the General's side. To say the least, Lady Victoria was gorgeous, everything about her exuded class and nobility.
Her slight pale complexion contrasted perfectly with her bright red eyes and golden coloured blonde hair that flowed midway down her back.
Lady Victoria's sharp facial features gave off an impression of danger despite the innocence of her actions.
The vampiress was highly educated as she studied with the best tutors money could provide. One could describe her as a wolf in sheep's clothing, baring its teeth only when needed.
After almost a year, her future husband had returned to the kingdom. Just the thought of seeing him again made her heart flutter.
Although their engagement had been cancelled, she still believed he cared for her and would make her his wife granting her the respect and the pride of being the General's wife, who is now also the King.
Now that his mother was dead, there was no one standing in between Lady Victoria and the altar.
"I heard he has become the most handsome man in all the lands, what do you think of it Victoria?" Lady Evaline, Lady Victoria's closest lady in waiting asked, trying to brighten up the mood.
Lady Evaline, along with all the other ladies in waiting had never actually seen or met the man. They were just tagging along with what people said about him.
"Of course he is, did you think my future husband would be unpleasant to the eyes?" Lady Victoria's eyes narrowed, annoyed with the way her ladies spoke about him.
"I meant no ill by my words Lady Victoria, I just hoped you would tell us the gist revolving 'round your engagement?" Lady Evaline smirked as she teased her best friend about the man she was so smitten with.
"Well," Victoria sighed happily, "Since you asked so nicely," Then she began to tell them of all the nights she and the General shared together.
The more she spoke of him, the more she felt an urge to go see him. She called in one of the maids and sent out a request, "Have the stable boys prepare a carriage for my ladies and me. We leave for the King's castle tomorrow."
--The Nydisia Kingdom, The Castle, The Right-Wing Living Quarters--"My lady, the King requested that this letter is to be delivered to you and that you have breakfast with him in the dining hall," Lily said, passing the letter one of her fellow maids had given to her.Katherine inhaled as Lily tied her corset from the back. The dresses Katherine had received were luxurious and more expensive compared to the ones she had at Lady Morgan's manor.Seeing as Lily didn't make the corset unbreathable tight, the dress Katherine wore was very comfortable and fit for a lady that was to appear in front of a king to wear.Lily had offered to do her hair but Katherine refused. She always felt more relaxed with her long wavy hair resting calmly around her lower waist. After drinking the iced tea that Lily had specifically brought as per Katherine's request. Katherine opened the letter from the King and it read:To Lady Katherina Dave
--The Nydisian Kingdom, The Castle, Dining Hall--Immediately, Katherine knew he was talking about her avoidance of eye contact. She turned to look at him, but the presence of the maids had already captured his attention. They all murmured 'Milady' or 'Milord' as they dropped our meals. The food smelled divine but Katherine couldn't muster much of an appetite. She didn't really pay attention to the food as she was more curious as to what the King had to say to her. "I prefer to be called Katherine, milord," Katherine said respectfully then reached forward to grasp a cup of water."Very well, you may address me as Lucian. Forgive me if there have been any inconveniences." She silently shook her head.He seems so straightforward and uptight, it was quite difficult to know what he'd be offended by, she thought to herself."Are you not hungry?" Lucian frowned at her whilst he was munching on a breadstick and sipping what was eit
--The Nydisian Kingdom, The Castle, Left-Wing--Katherine couldn't help but stare at the garden from her room balcony as the sun was starting to rise. She was so lost in her thoughts that she didn't even notice Lily was trying to get her attention."The Captain is requesting your presence, milady, I've already taken your bag downstairs. I wish you a safe journey." Lily said while packing the last bit of Katherine's load. Katherine smiled at the maid that has been nothing but kind since her arrival.Considering it's been less than a week since Katherine's arrival in the castle, the King was kind enough to have her closet filled with fine attire. As Katherine made her way down the stairs, she crossed paths with the man she had begun to tolerate, Lord Killian. He respectfully bowed her way as Lily greeted him. Katherine turned back briefly to notice shared glances between Lord Killian and Lily. The General and the King, mention
--The Nydisian Kingdom, Eraregord, Othes Forest--After several failed attempts of trying to build a fire. Katherine finally managed to do so with the help of Llewellyn, of course."I believe I was five when I built my first fire," Llewellyn chuckled in a lame attempt to tease her."Well not everyone had such an eventful childhood," Katherine said while rolling her eyes and finding a comfy spot of grass to lay on."Enlighten me, how so?" Katherine barely spoke about her life before Lady Morgan, it was uncomfortable reliving those memories but as time passed, one could say it didn't bother her as much."I grew up in a town full of bandits and my parents were both alcoholics and gamblers." Katherine sighed. Her mother was probably the most beautiful woman she had ever seen. She had midnight black hair and her eyes were so bright and warm. Katherine's heart ached thinking about the faded memories of her mother."What hap
--The Nydisian Kingdom, Eraregord, Othes Forest--Katherine looked up to see his red eyes staring into the fire. It wasn't until now that she noticed the slight scar on his lip. It was a thin line that crossed on the very edge of his upper lip.As if knowing what she was staring out he looked down and caught her gaze. She quickly averted her gaze and looked to where Llewellyn was once standing as he walked into the forest.Lucian was still seated calmly behind her with his back against one of the trees and with her seated directly in front of him, her back to his chest.Being unable to bear the silence, Katherine finally spoke, "Tell me a story,""Milord," She quickly added wanting to remain respectful. His already deep voice was low and sounded like a hum, "You have to be more specific than that, do you wish to hear about the tales of the creatures below sea level or the creatures that plague the earth realm,"Kather

"What about the sea creatures you told of?" Lady Victoria glanced out of the vehicle wondering what was causing the hold-up.Part of Victoria was excited she'd get to see the General again. She wore her finest silk and made sure she looked undeniably beautiful just for him."Name?" One of the guards asked in doubt. The King had explicitly informed them that no one outside the castle should be let in until he arrives."Wikerstone," The coachman said while calming the horses with one of his hands. The guard was well aware of the Wikerstone family, they were very highly valued to the throne but he didn't want to risk offending the new ruler. "Apologies but under direct orders from the King, no one is allowed through the gates," The guard said.Upon hearing this Lady Victoria turned red out of anger. How dare they? She thought. --The Nydisian Kingdom, Eraregord, Royal Academy--Elizabeth tilted her head upon hearing Katherine's question as she was trying to think of the best way to narrate what had happened."Well, as the human world found out about the existence of supernatural beings, things began to change drastically. Humans felt threatened and retaliated against a threat that wasn't there.""Safe zones for the supernatural were opened up to the world but places like Peru, Elysian, Avingora and more, were quickly invaded by the human population.""This led to angst among the leaders of the world and the situation made people grow weary fast. Many things that are now accepted today were forbidden in the old era. One of which involved species and societal norms.""As is known, a single breed supernatural cannot choose their mates, and as time went on werewolves were becoming mates with humans, vampires becoming mates with werewolves, this gave birth to
--The Nydisian Kingdom, Eraregord, Royal Academy--Lady Nicole was quite slim and she was relatively tall, she looked like a well-sculpted model. Everything she did reflected elegance and poise.Though Lady Nicole and her brother, Lord Nicolian weren't directly related to the King, they were distant cousins and the only set of people from his bloodline still alive. The two siblings are the descendants of the King's grandmother, therefore they were purebred vampires and not hybrids.Lady Nicole picked up a red apple from the try of fruits and her long thin perfectly manicured fingers grazed it gently as she took a bite, and not a single drop of apple juice could be seen on her lips."How long have you schooled in the academy?" Katherine asked the group of people around her that seemed to be engaged in small talk."You've misunderstood, we're only present to receive our official certificate of becoming scholars," Sir Alexander
--The Nydisian Kingdom, Eraregord, Royal Academy--Courtesy of Lucian, who had gone back to the castle two days, he had Llewellyn organize and go through the participants of the tournament, leaving Katherine in Llewellyn's care until he returned. Katherine, however, was partially glad she didn't have to see or speak with Lucian for some time. She walked into the private dining hall that was on a higher floor than the main dining hall. The sun shone through the large glass montage and glowed up the entire private room.Immediately, Katherine noticed the eight people seated across the dining table. Llewellyn mentioned to her that he had made arrangements for her to remain out of sight from the majority of those that schooled here.Little did Katherine know that most of the people seated in front of her were related to the royal family one way or another.Katherine tried not to let the number of red eyes in the room frighten her as sh

His return to the castle was going to be very brief as he would need to select recruits soon.He had changed into a King's attire and his hair was slicked back neatly as always, except for one strand that rested slightly below his eyebrow. His footsteps echoed in the marble halls as he pushed both doors of the royal court and sat down on the throne. Those that were in the room bowed respectfully and in awe of their current leader."Milord, based on the constable's report, the magistrates of Sareweth sent in a report of several witches practicing magic that has been unaccounted for," the herald said.Ever since the old era witches were allowed to use magic but on

Do you still wish to hold the tournament?" The headmaster, Dane, asked. His Highness had sent word to him a few days ago that he'd be arriving in a week's time to gather the academy's best as well as strongest fighters."Yes, we'll take them based on ranking but make it quick, I can't stay here for long." Dane nodded in understanding before leaving the room to tell one of his subordinates to get started on the announcement to the students. When Dane left the room, Lucian turned to Llewellyn and spoke, "More and more people are starting to believe the throne has been corru
