On the next day, I hit the 68 button. It felt like a billion years before the doors re-opened on the 68th floor. I ran out of it. My stupid bag just had to fall from my hand due to my rushing so I bent to pick it as quick as I could. I hoped no male was behind me, else he was getting a free view of my big round ass. I continued running to our office door. Like what France says, my office was beside Alvin's office and separated with glass walls and a door.
I took out my card from my bag then inserted it into the right hole, hit the buttons of the code for the door to open. I wondered why they changed the lock of the door. *For security purposes, dummy.*Pushed the door open, I scurried into it. The door automatically closed, leaving me to stand before the man of my life himself."Good morning, sir."He raised his head from his table with a blank expression. I stared at him for a while, expecting him to scold me. He didn't utter a word, leading me to a confused state.I furrowed my eyebrows in perplexity. He just kept staring at me, scanning me from head to toe, taking sips of whatever was inside the mug in his hand, still not uttering a word. Since he didn't say anything, I decided it was best to walk away so I started walking towards my office, feeling his gaze on me."Sam, come here." His voice contained so much authority and it sent a shiver of fear to flow through me. It's Sam again, when will he call me Reese?I gulped, twirled to him with a nervous smile. As he had instructed, I walked to him. My legs didn't seem like they were balanced anymore as they moved in the wrong manner. It seemed like I had forgotten how to walk all of a sudden. His gaze fixed on me was both scary and annoying, I wondered what was in his head. I stopped right in front of him, gripping onto the handles of my bag in front of me. "Yes, sir?"He still didn't say a word for a few minutes before he finally spoke, "Sit there." He pointed to one of the chairs opposite to his, behind his table.I did as I was told and sat there.Once again, he said nothing for a few minutes, taking long sips of what I now identified as coffee in his mug. "You have a problem."Jeez, that was so random but kinda expected. I opened my mouth to say something but I didn't know what to respond to that with."I said, you have a problem, a big one." He reiterated."I'm sorry." I lowered my head to avoid staring into his threatening light brown eyes."Don't say sorry!" He hollered, slapping his hand on the table.I flinched; I swear I thought life went out of me at the loudness of his voice."Oh... o-okay." I stuttered."You're late, again?" He didn't yell this time but his voice still possessed that scary tone."Traffic," was all I could utter."Really? Can't you wake up really early?" He took another sip of the remnant of the coffee, dropping the empty mug on his table."I did, but... traffic." I heaved a sigh, raising my head to him. He had an unpredictable expression."You're my secretary, you don't seem to need your job. Are you a secret Billionaire or what?" He huffed."No." I said in more of a whisper."You ought to make my coffee but someone had to do it for me, I needed some files and needed to sort some things out but you weren't here so I had to do it 'myself'," He placed stress on 'myself'."I promise it won't happen again." I apologized."It mustn't, else you'll be punished gravely." The way he said that sounded like a threat."Yes, sir." I nodded."Good. Now, first off, you should cancel all my appointments for tomorrow." He started, pulling out a big file from his drawer then placed it in front of me, you should work on this, take notes of the words printed in red. "You should also fix an appointment with Mr. Gravely for me." He took out another file and placed it on the last one. "Also, take notes of the words printed in yellow." He took out another file and dropped it on the last two. Damn! "You should print these out, okay?""Okay, got it." I nodded at him."Take these for now. When you're done with them, come back for more. Now get up and out of here, quickly." He ordered. I rose to my feet and picked the heavy files up. Jeez! I hated this stress. I understand his point so I did was he asked to. It was kinda good, it made me more serious with my work."Firstly, return this mug." He pointed to the empty mug."Oh." I dropped the files then moved closer to him to pick the mug. I held the mug, ready to leave his presence."Wait!" He stopped me abruptly, and wiggled his fingers for me to move closer to him.I moved closer to him. He indicated that I moved closer. I did that. Well.. too close… He shut his eyes then drew in my scent."Hmm." He nodded.I wasn't certain but I think I saw him smile through it didn't last up to 2 seconds. "Risha's perfume, right?" He asked and I nodded at him in skepticism. "You have a nice choice of perfume unlike other things."Was that supposed to be a compliment or an insult? "Thank you?" That came out as a question instead."Now leave, you're too close to me." He stated.I moved away from him. I felt his eyes on me as I walked out of the office to return his mug. I really can't read you, Alvin. You're giving me mixed signal likt the other day.How am I supposed to move on then? Please don't give me false hope. I can't bear it.ALVIN'S POINT OF VIEW "Can I leave now?" Samantha Reese asked, obviously looking so stressed out from the day's work.I glanced at the wall clock. It was 2 hours past working hours. It wasn't my fault I had tons of things to do than close so early."Have you planned my schedule for next week?" I raised an eyebrow at her."Uh-Im almost done with it. I'll submit it tomorrow." She said, scratching the back of her neck and avoiding my gaze. I was glad she adjusted to my style of working, or else it was going to be a huge problem if she continued arguing with me."Okay. You've postponed my appointment for tomorrow, right? It has to be a free day for me.""Yes, sir." She nodded, gripping her bag impatiently."Good, you can leave. Ensure you're very early tomorrow. You won't like how things would turn out to be if you come late, again." I warned. She swallowed audibly and nodded."Yes, sir."I paused to think of anything else she needed to do but there was nothing left. She had done a lot
Samantha ReeseI had woken up this morning as early as I could. I couldn't bear to get into trouble with Alvin right now. I had worn a knee-length gray pencil skirt with a black shirt tucked into it and a gray blazer, with a pair of matching white stiletto heels and a white handbag which had fake diamond designs around it. My shoulder-length blonde hair had been dyed into black last night with hair extensions to make it fall all the way down to just above my butt. My thin lips were covered in thick wine lipstick, making my electric blue eyes seem like they were shining brighter than ever.I didn't bother to depend on Georgina for a ride to work but hired a taxi driver to pick me up every morning. With a grin on, I patted myself on the back for achieving my goal of arriving early to work today.I strutted into the company. "Good morning, Sarah." I winked at her.She widened her eyes, obviously shocked to see me at this early hour of the morning. "Sam?" She rubbed her eyes. "It truly
"You've been so busy with work since you started working for Alvin. Now it's Saturday, get your lazy ass up!" Georgina yelled into my ear, pulling me up by my shirt."Georgina, I've got to sleep." I groaned, flipping over to bury my face in my fluffy pillow.Ever since she brought me home the other night, she wanted to live with me and I didn't want to reject her so she became my alarm buddy…"Girl, you're crazy. You've done nothing but sleep all day long. It's 2pm!" She shouted and slugged me.My eyes popped open at that. I turned to her. "Seriously? How's that even possible?"Not believing her, I shifted to reach for my phone on the nightstand. I checked the time and it was indeed 2:14pm."I've missed you, bitch. Let's party or do something fun!" She squealed, hopping off the bed. "Be ready in half an hour. I already made breakfast-lunch." She squirmed."You made food?" It was my turn to squirm. "I wouldn't be a victim of food poisoning so we'd rather order something than eat the g
"Sam," Alvin called. "The Manager of Friz and co.' will be here in a few minutes. I hope everything is ready?""Uh- yeah, sure." I scratched my arm, dropping the files on his table. "I'll send the remaining part of it to your email."He hummed a response. His fingers drummed on his laptop keys really fast, forming the beat of a song. Seriously? He hadn't said a thing about last Saturday. He was really going to ignore it? I felt his gaze on me soI raised my head to stare at him."What do you want?" He questioned crankily."Nothing." I shook my head."If it's about last Saturday, don't think I care. Hearing such words from people isn't a new thing to me." He explained. Unconsciously, a smirk played on my lips, forming a frown on his face. "It doesn't mean you should say it all the time, and in public. Gossipers are always around, ready to feed the internet with even the slightest mistake people like us make so your words could be manipulated and ruin my image. Be careful. You'd pay for
"You can leave now, Samantha." Alvin said with a dismissive wave of his hand.I glanced at my wristwatch and it was three hours past my closing hour, if I even had one. "Thank you so much Alvin, for releasing me at such an early hour of the day." I said sarcastically with a fake smile.I don't really get him today. He's acting weird to me.He raised his head from his laptop, leaned back in his chair and intertwined his fingers. "Oh, really?" He scoffed. "Why don't you wait till it's not so early and do some more work."My eyes widened at that. I wore a grin at him, shaking my head. "No, thank you. I'll be leaving now." I nodded then turned around and took my leave. A frown returned on my face as I shut the door. "Stupid man." I hissed.A young man beside me, who I hadn't noticed until now, chuckled at me. I flinched at the notice of his presence. "Hi," I waved awkwardly, walking away."We all know he's terrible." He said behind me but I ignored him and continued walking away. I got in
"I balanced it all into one file, Alvin…" I walked up to Alvin and dropped the big file on his table, picking my phone from the top of the file.He glanced at them then raised his head to me with a positive nod. "That's good." He rose to his feet. "Do I have an appointment with anyone again today?""Uh..." I raised my phone to my face and opened his schedule for today on my phone. "Yes, you have an appointment in twenty minutes with..." my eyes widened at that. "Amanada Hart." Gosh, I had totally forgotten about his date with Amanda. He will meet her."Okay, and you're coming with me." He reminded me, picked his jacket from his chair and wore it, and turned around the table. My eyes widened. "May I know why I have to go with you?" I asked out of curiosity. He snapped his head in my direction with an icy stare. "Amanda is a friend of mine and she'd constantly pester me. She wouldn't believe that I have to leave for other important things so you'd be there, incessantly reminding me and
I blinked multiple times with my jaw gaped. "Your girlfriend?" A frown appeared on my face.I'm your ex-girlfriend, Alvin."Yes, Sam." He said through a fake smile. "This is my Mom and she has been dying to meet you."I frowned at him. "But...""It's so nice to finally meet you. I never believed Alvin already got back with you. I didn't believe him a bit when he told me that you guys broke up, not to mention believing she's a really beautiful one like you. I'm Trisha." She smiled with the small of her teeth in view. She didn't know? When it was patently obvious that his Mom wasn't looking, Alvin glared at me; a glare that warned me to go along with the flow. That didn't stop me from feeling pissed off by his lie."Trisha?" Why did that name sound so familiar? "That name sounds familiar and you look very familiar." I squinted my eyes, trying to remember where I had seen her or heard her name."I'm the owner of Risha's products; Risha's perfume, shoes, magazines..." she said proudly a
Alvin ignored my glare, focusing his gaze on Trisha. "Mom, we have to go now. We've had enough of your pestering self." He rolled his eyes, rising to his feet. "Sam..." he cleared his throat, wearing a smile that showed off his one-sided dimple on his left cheek. "Sam." Gosh, he looked way angelic when he smiled than the stern-faced demon he always portrayed."No, don't leave so soon." Trisha pouted. I found that cute though it wasn't exactly cute. I liked this woman's demeanor. She didn't give off the impression of a mearn-ass rich son's mother like I mostly saw in movies, and probably books."We have to, Trisha." I also wore an angelic smile, blinking slower than usual for no good reason.Alvin extended his hand towards me. I raised a questioning eyebrow at him then muttered an 'oh' after realizing he meant I had to hold his hand. Dork. Reluctantly, I accepted his hand and he helped me up to my feet, leading me out of the chairs."Bye, Mom." He waved, curling an arm around my wa
~ Samantha Reese ~~ {Flashback} ~"Please get the door, Samantha Reese." Lila requested, rolling her sleeves up. "I'm the pregnant one here, I shouldn't be overworking.""Getting the door isn't overworking. Stop being so lazy." I groaned and reluctantly rose to my feet, sauntering to the door and opening it.I was so surprised to see Faith standing by the door, grinning from ear to ear, holding a small bag. I opened my mouth to speak but she pulled me into a hug. "Gosh, I missed you. I'm so glad you're fine." I smiled, returning the hug.I gently pushed her by her shoulders."I didn't expect to see you here. Please come in."Shutting the door after she walked in, we took our seats on one of the sofas."Mr. Robert asked me to come here. As your maid, I should be at your service, no matter where you are.""Oh, that's great. I missed you too. Doing some things on my own feels like a lot of work now." I admitted and she chuckled."Then it's a great thing I'm here. Is there anything yo
~ Alvin ~Another frustrating day without Samantha Reese. I had been checking the internet on how to make your angry wife forgive you but it all seemed to be pointless. It was high time I gained the courage to call that stubborn woman I called my wife.I picked up my phone and searched for her name in the contact list. Just one click and the phone was going to be ringing but it felt like the biggest deal in my entire life, it felt like an issue of life and death. I had never been this scared in my life. I succumbed to it and called her. It kept ringing continuously but there was no response.I sighed and dropped the phone on the bed but flinched when I heard, "Hello?"I picked up the phone, staring at the screen like it was a dream."Hello?" Oh my gosh, that voice, I missed it so damn much. I immediately went into a trance after hearing it."It's probably a butt-dial, ignore it." I heard Lila say.I snapped out of my trance and exclaimed, "No! Wait!""Oh, it's real.""What do you wan
~ France ~"Georgina, it's so nice to see you again," I said as Georgina sauntered to take a seat beside me, dropping her clutch on the counter."Yeah, really nice. You probably remember me from Samantha Reese's wedding or something.""Uh..." I scratched the back of my head. That was not the only time we had met. Who could forget Georgina after so many plays we had had together in the past? "Of course not." I chuckled nervously. She smirked. "Great! I was wondering how anyone could ever forget this nasty Georgina after so many times together. So you're simply ignoring me?" She ordered herself a bottle of drink."Georgina Bend, it was long ago, okay? I wasn't ignoring you or anything, it was just supposed to be one-night stands."She laughed out boisterously."One-night stands that happened about a million times?" She rolled her eyes, chugging down a glass of alcohol in one drought."Okay, I agree with that. It has been so long, about 5 or 6 years ago. We were still in college, woman
"Samantha?" I asked again, scanning her from head to toe. Maybe I might've heard the wrong name. They paused, gazing at me."Do you know her?" Dash asked."Of course not. Where on Earth am I supposed to know such a disgusting person?""I'm so surprised to know you decided to go after such a cheap thing. I mean, look at her." She scoffed at me, resting her elbow on Dash's shoulder."She was supposed to be for fun but she was proving so hard to get and I wanted to make her my girlfriend to use her and dump her, baby." He admitted, not bothering about the fact that I was standing right in front of them."Aw, my babe is so nasty." She smirked at him, patting his head proudly."I can't believe you're so terrible. I thank God I didn't fall into your crazy trap, motherfucker!" Oh my, where was this courage coming from?"Why is she being so dramatic?" She asked with her forehead crumpled and wearing a lopsided grin.I stormed out of the house and quickly got into a taxi. Samantha was probably
~ Samantha Reese ~"You still won't let me tell anyone you're here? This torture is killing me. Won't you at least tell Mom or Georgina?"Lila asked, finalizing her makeup."No, I'd let Mom and Georgina know today. Please don't let anyone know yet." I smiled at her. "By the way, you look very gorgeous.""Thank you." She grinned."You're going to work? Aren't you late now?""No, I'm on leave again. I'm going over to my boyfriend's.""Oh... I'd love to see this man you and Georgina is so crazy about.""Stupid Georgina. She keeps blaming me when I've got nothing to do with her sleeping around with men." She rolled her eyes, rising from the vanity chair.I chuckled. "That's Georgina for you. I'll talk to her later today.""Please do. Talk some sense into her head.""I'll try to." I chuckled again. "I'm going to take a stroll for relaxation.""You need it. Call me if there's any emergency, don't work too much, don't destroy the house, don't get too emotional, don't do anything stupid, eat.
~ Alvin ~"You're just returning?""Yes, sir." The stupid driver who had driven Samantha Reese had finally arrived but not with her."And where is Samantha Reese ?""She made me drive for a long time and then asked me to stop the car in the middle of nowhere, no matter how many times I refused. She said no one should look for her there because she was going to go further away.""And why are you just returning?""She said I shouldn't return home until today. I tried to follow her but lost track of her. I promise it isn't my fault. I also have no idea where she is.""Please send me the address of where you dropped her off, I'll send it to the police.""Okay, sir, I'll try my best to recall the place." He nodded then left my sight. I returned to the building and dropped me on a sofa."Won't you at least have something to eat?" Mom asked, her tone was soaked in worry.I simply shook my head, resting my head on the arm of the couch and the back of my palm on my forehead."You have to eat,
"Baby daddy?" It didn't take a second before my breath quickened."Samantha? So this is the crazy redhead that's obsessed with you.""Obsessed with him? I find that harsh but not offensive, it's okay." She nodded."Tell me what you mean by baby daddy?" I frowned, beginning to sweat from what she just said."How dare you come here?" He asked in a very intimidating voice, clenching his jaw."Why not? I don't think a couple of millions of dollars would be able to replace the place of a father in the lives of our children." Though she was speaking to Alvin, she was smirking at me.My legs immediately became wobbly, and I lost my balance but before I could fall, I held her shoulders. "Wh-what.. what do you mean?" My voice cracked at every word, and my hands which had a tight grip on her shoulders began to vibrate."Samantha Reese, let's go," Alvin said, fear could be read in his voice by anyone, even a baby."Don't." I pointed my index finger at him, my eyes burning with so much rage towa
"Uh... I don't know." I chuckled nervously."Why do you sound so nervous?" She narrowed her eyes at me."Mom, it's okay. We can't be certain she's pregnant. And if she is, I'm sure it's my child, right Samantha?" He asked and I nodded."You should do a pregnancy test to confirm if she's pregnant because if she's not then it's probably a serious illness. I'll take my leave.""Wait!" I rose to my feet. "What do you mean by you'll be a grandmother again?" I only heard that. "As far as I know, Alvin is your only child.""Oh, he hasn't told you?" She glanced at him."No, he hasn't told me anything." I held her arms. "What is he supposed to tell me that he hasn't? What's going on?" They shared a glance at each other again then burst into laughter. "Calm down. Alvin isn't my only child. He has a sister.""A dog, Mom.""Whatever." She rolled her eyes. "And she has had a lot of puppies." She clarified and I sighed in relief."I can't believe my baby is having a baby." Alvin wrapped his arms a
~ TWO MONTHS LATER ~Once again, another night, no Alvin. I was more than confused. Why hasn't he returned home after three fucking months? I returned to my room took off my jacket, grabbed a towel, and left for the bathroom, sinking into the bathtub. I felt so sick. Alvin not being around had made me very dizzy with terrible headaches. After a long bath, I wrapped a towel around my body and opened the door. I was shocked to see Alvin standing in front of the door, also holding the door knob."Nah, this is probably a dream." I scoffed, rubbing my eyes but he still stood in front of me."You don't believe I'm here?" He raised an eyebrow.Hearing his voice filled my soul with happiness. I wanted to jump and hug him but the happiness was erased quickly and transformed into anger. I walked past him."Please don't give me this attitude." He held my hand but it made me angrier."Let me be." I sauntered to the wardrobe while he walked behind me."Don't be mad at me. I thought you'd be very h
