CHAPTER 107: GOODBYE

A WEEK LATER

“........ nhasi ndaterera....hiya honde......” a happy voice sang, while the person who was singing was busy feeding chickens in the coop.

Looking at the chicks that had developed in the previous week, Nomsa felt high, as if she were high on narcotics.

The chicks were barely one week old when she arrived, and they have grown considerably in the previous week thanks to her excellent care.

She didn’t have to worry about them going hungry because there was enough food at home.

What struck her the most was that not a single chick perished over this time period. She was familiar with the concept of purchasing one hundred hens and having about ten or more of them die by the time they were ready for slaughter.
