The Truth

"Agnes, easy with that; you look like you've seen a ghost," Jerry said to her.

"Agnes?" Anna Philips said, walking straight to have a seat, while Grace dropped the bag she carried and sat beside her father.

"Mrs. Agnes, let me get you some water," Lucy said, dropping the bag she besides Grace's own.

"Aunt Agnes?" Grace asked.

Agnes took a sip of the water Lucy brought for her. She tried to arrange her expression, although she was having a bit of trouble achieving that.

"Yes, Grace, and no, Jerry, I'm just surprised; she looks so grown; how did you change so much?" Agnes asked, covering up her reaction with a lie.

"Well, some people try to keep in touch with their family so they don't miss out on their niece's life," Anna said with scorn behind a fake yawn.

"Wow, you look different. Aunt Agnes, last time I saw you, I was so little," Grace said with a smile as she rose up to give Agnes a hug.
