CHAPTER NINE
I dress in a baggy top and jeans. I decide to wear my hair down today. Fortunately for me, Don does not make an appearance; so to say I am happy is an understatement. I am elated. I eat breakfast conveniently and put on my locket before I head off to school.
Surprisingly, I meet Jordan on my way to class.
“Morning, Nala,” he greets, and I grin from ear to ear.
“Morning, Jordan”
“I see you love the locket”
I nod in affirmation and glaze my fingertips across the necklace. He seems pleased with my answer.
“How about we skip school, and talk?” Jordan grins mischievously, and I giggle.
“Okay,” I say. Who needs school anyway?
We quickly exit the school building, settling down at our secret spot. When we were still dating, we always came here anytime we wanted to skip classes. I throw my arms around him as soon as we sit.
“I know something is wrong, Nala” he whispers, returning the
CHAPTER TEN My Lycan hasn’t been at rest since I met Nala. The temptation to mark her is high, but she is still so young. I am scared I am going to hurt her. She is extremely fragile and cries almost every day. “Oh, Don” I hear her moan beside me. What the fuck is she dreaming about? I smile at how beautiful she looks. She might have the character of a child, but her body says otherwise. I don’t care about what she is thinking as long as it involves me. I am waiting for the perfect time to talk to her about us and any other necessary information. I enter the bathroom and shower with the cold water, hoping it helps with the sudden bulge in my pants. Fresh out of the shower, I dress in a fine suit, go down the stairs to get things done before she wakes up. I receive a call from Carson. “Don, I just got some information” “What is it, Carson?” I ask impatiently. “You will want to hear this in person,” Carson states
CHAPTER ELEVEN Don’s POV I wake up before Nala as usual, get dressed, and prepare to take her to school after breakfast. I take my place at the dining table and ask the maids to make pancakes, Nala’s favorite, according to the information her friends had given me. The maids start baking, and I wait patiently for Nala to come downstairs. “Morning” she sings cheerfully, expressing the happiness she always has with her friends. Why can’t she be this free and happy with me? “Morning,” I reply, realizing that she has only taken notice of the maids and not me. Her mood changes to that of terror when she sights me. “Morning,” she says to me, every trace of happiness gone from her face. She takes her place at the table. “Breakfast?” Claire asks her, and she nods. “Yes, thank you” When Claire serves her the pancakes, joy returns to her expression. She quickly takes three successive bites. “You’ll choke if you ar
CHAPTER TWELVE I once again, wake up before Nala. I quickly bathe and put on a black shirt. I realize I want to give Nala some space today. After what happened yesterday, I am sure she does not want to see me. When I get downstairs, I receive a call from Carson. “Morning” I mutter into the phone. “Morning” Carson replies. “Is something wrong?” I ask, sensing the apprehension in his voice. “Yes and no” “What do you mean by that? Get straight to the point.” I say, already starting to lose my patience. “Chill, man. I think I know who the traitor is” “Who is the motherfucker?” I ask, my temper rising. Carson pauses for a moment, and says, “Kim”. “Kim” I can’t believe what I am hearing. “Yes, Kim” he reiterates. “I am coming right now” I state quickly. “Won’t you take Nala to school?” Carson asks. “Okay,” Carson replies, and I hang up. I have given the necessar
CHAPTER THIRTEEN Immediately we get home, we go to the room. Don is surprisingly nice. To be sincere, I expect him to yell at me, but he doesn't. He throws his black shirt at me, and I pick it up in confusion. "Put it on," he says. I am confused, but at the same time, I am happy. I have always wanted to wear his shirt again because of how good it felt the first time. "OK," I say, walking into the closet and changing into his shirt. I can't point out a particular expression from him because I have seen a lot today. We are both served dinner in our room. It is like he knows I am tired. We eat dinner silently, and for the first time, I eat with him without fear. He suddenly grabs my hand. "I'm sorry, Nala. I'm just scared of losing you too," he says, and I give him a weak smile. I don't know what 'too' means, but I
CHAPTER FOURTEEN Edited When I get downstairs, my bag slung over my shoulder, ready to leave him for good, I remember he told me he is scared of me leaving him. Somehow, I doubt that. He does everything that makes me want to leave him. Out of the corner of my eye, I see him sit down with his head buried in his palm. As I am about to open the door, he shoots up and runs towards me. He grabs my arm. "Please don't leave me! I'm so sorry." "No, Don, you need time alone to think on how to treat me. Well, that's if you get the second chance," I say. "I've been alone long enough. Please, I need you. I promise to treat you well," he begs. I can find some truth in what he was saying, but I am not ready to be his puppet again. "No, Don, we need time apart.” "OK, how about you stay here, and I stay in the guest room?" &
CHAPTER FIFTEEN When I receive a call from Carson that morning, I know I can’t take Nala to school. "Ben, tell her she can go wherever she wants to after school,” I say, “but she has to call me, so I know where she is." "Sure, bye," he replies, and I leave the house. Yesterday's kiss still replays in my head. It was so lovely, a big step in our faulty relationship. I quickly head over to Carson’s. "Can you believe Kim made Nala think we were more than friends? She is unbelievable," I rant, and Carson smiles. "Nala gave you a second chance, though. Don’t blow it.” "Why did you get to be the reasonable one?” "I know, man, I am far more reasonable than you will ever be." "Okay, enough of that. What do we do about the attack? I think it's better if we
CHAPTER SIXTEEN When I woke up this morning, I notice Don is still in the room. I wonder why he is still at home. "Morning, "he says, and I frown at him. "Why are you still at home?" I question. "I wanted to tell you myself," he explains. Now, I am confused. "What?" I asked, raising my eyebrows. "I have to travel today." Why is he just telling me this now? I am going to be alone now. "Why? What's wrong?"I ask, already panicking. "Calm down, Nala, there is a fight between our packs, that's all." What if he dies? If he doesn't come back, I will be alone forever. "Nala, Nala," Don says, tapping me. "Sorry..... Do you have to be there?" I asked, hoping he will back out. "Yes, Nala, I
CHAPTER SEVENTEEN Jordan is to pick me up from home. I really don't want him to come here, but what harm can happen if he does? It isn’t like he is going to stay for long. I wear a blue flared gown that is just a little below my mid-thigh. I pick my white sneakers and put them on. I pack my hair into a messy bun. It is loose, so locks of hair drop down my face. I pick my favorite hair clip, it is silver in color. I put it on my hair, then I hear the doorbell ring. I know it is Jordan. It has to be him. I go downstairs and find Claire standing beside a dimpled-faced Jordan. He looks really cute in his black tight jeans with his black sneakers and denim jacket. "Hey," I say with a smile, and he returns it with a grin of his own. "Hey," he replies, his smile turning awkward. If I don't say anything, we will
I am Luna, a cursed Lycan. The sins of my grandfather brought this curse upon me. According to the witches, nothing can break this curse. The witch who placed the curse is dead and now we make sacrifices every full moon to her to beg her. This sacrifice started when I was fourteen and now I'm nineteen. I guess six years isn't enough for her broken heart. If you asked me I'd say she was being cruel. I mean six years of living in hell aren't enough for her to let me go and let me be?."What are you thinking of Luna?" Alarie asked with a sad smile. One of the reasons I hate this curse, everyone thinks because I'm bound to the moon I can't function well. I mean when I change and lose myself for over three hours and after that I'm fine. Over the years the pain of shifting has lessened. Tomorrow is another full moon and that's why my brother is being so sad and pitiful towards me." My mate. Do you think if I find him the curse will stop?" I asked. I've always thought of it.
LUNA "Alarie come down this second!!" I scream at my stubborn son. I've been calling him all day. "I'm coming mum. Just a minute!" He shouts from his room. "You said that five minutes ago," His sister Luna says as she hugs me. I ruffled her hair a bit before combing it with my hand again. "Shut it cam!" He glares at her as he came down the stairs. He looks so much like his father, Donald. I thought my firstborn and also my son is going to take their father's anger but surprisingly no. Luna's anger is almost as bad as Don's. "Why don't you say that to June" She teases. She knows that was going to get him mad. Well, he likes June and thinks she's his mate even though he isn't old enough to know his mate. He's just sixteen. "Mum!" He said angrily and I just laugh. "You shouldn't let these ladies get under your skin you know" The man who I'm s
Epilogue I love you all too much not to give an insight into life after graduation. As soon as we got back to his place Don places a kiss on my lips roughly, claiming me in his territory, our territory now. I don't have any regrets about my decision to skip college. This sacrifice is the first real thing I have ever done for Donald and he deserves the world. This so-called cruel man has changed me and turned my entire life around. I love Donald so much. "Babe, what are you thinking so deeply about?" He turns looking at me in confusion. I smile. "I'm thinking of different ways in which I can take you" I whisper in his ears seductively. My moves affect him much as it affects me too. His sharp breath intake confirms it. "Baby you're really tired and I think you need to rest," He says huskily. How can he deny himself so much pleasure because he thinks I'm tired? "We
CHAPTER FORTY "What's happening to me!" I ask Don for the thousandth time. I wake up this money to a very big surprise and I have no idea why Don doesn't seem bothered by it. "Donald I'm serious here!" I exclaim. "Nala. It's normal. You change to a lycan when you're fully mated to one" He says. "How come I never knew this?" I ask. "I don't know" he shrugs. "It will be so weird walking around with the changes" I sigh as I sit on the bed with my hands in my hair. "You don't have to leave the house for now until you're fine with the changes" He suggests. "My graduation is in a few days, Don. My clothes don't even fit anymore!" I say in frustration. "The changes are bound to happen Nala you can't change it," He says. "Why?" I a

"It's in a week we have plenty of time" I try reasoning with him but he would have none of such. "Exactly! hardly enough time to get you ready" "It's more than enough time. I have clothes and shoes and I'll just leave my hair down" I say, smiling at him. "We are getting new clothes and shoes today. You forgot to mention jewellery. A make-up artist. Your hair. Let's get to it!" He says as he put on his shirt leaving me shocked. Is he being serious rig
CHAPTER THIRTY-EIGHT I keep smiling to myself, blushing. I can't explain how I feel. I mean I lost my virginity last night to the one person I love. I know I didn't make any mistakes but I'm sore and I want to sleep all day. "What's running through your mind beautiful?" He whispers in my hair. I smile turning to face him. "Morning Don" I mumble against his chest. He put his fingers inside my hair massaging my scalp gently. "I need that," I say as he continues. "Don't forget you're meeting up with your friends" He says making me jump up. My friends! "Oh gosh!! Don, will they know?" I ask, flushed at the thought of them knowing. He looks a little hurt but covers it up with a smirk. "Don't you want them to know?" He asks. I swallow slowly before I laugh nervously.
CHAPTER THIRTY-SEVEN "I'm going to miss you!!" This is Vivian been dramatic as usual. Don and I are leaving today. I'm going to miss everyone but it's only for a few months. We will be back here permanently after my graduation. "I'm coming back," I tell her. She wipes her tears with the back of her hands, making me laugh. "Don't be so dramatic” I say. Carson pulls her closer to him. She glares at him. "Goodbye Nala" This is Don's father. Don and his father have little chit-chat from time to time. It's progress. "Bye old man. Don't make it sound like I'm not coming back" I whisper on my tiptoe. He smirks at me. "I'm going to miss you all. Bye," I say as I move closer to Don. "See you soon," Don says as we leave the packhouse. The journey home is a blur because I slept all through the journey. You can'
CHAPTER THIRTY-SIX I am walking around the packhouse. Today is going to be our last day here before we come back again after my graduation. It feels like home already. I really want my mum to come back with me. She probably has a second chance mate and hasn't found him because she hasn't even left our town. I see Sir Martin Richards. I have no idea how someone like him is living. Everybody feels intimidated by him. He doesn't even smile. That is a really lonely life. I can't really judge him; we are all different. "Good day," I greet him as soon as I approach him. "Good day" He answers without paying attention to me. "I'm Nala" I introduce making him smirk. "I know who you are," He says making me smile. Don talks about me. I feel so honored right now. "Really?" I ask him, hands on my chest. "Why wouldn't I? You are the pub after the thro
