QUINN’S POV
My slender fingers absently toyed with the diamond necklace hovering around my neck.. The sparkling gemstones danced in the light, but my mind was swirling with questions.
Every scenario with him becomes more perplexing than the last. Why was he showering me with extravagant gifts? Is he trying to get me drowned in love ? Was it a genuine attempt to sweep me off my feet or a calculated act to buy my affection?
The uncertainty churned inside of me. I couldn’t neglect the feeling that I was trapped in a whirlpool of confusion.
As exhaustion claimed me, my eyelids become heavy, and I drifted off to sleep, clutching the necklace.
“Quinn”, a soft, innocent voice startled me. I turned to face the caller and my eyes melted at the sight of a little boy, his little cute eyes boring into my soul.
I became curious as I leaned in, attentive to why he called.
“You must grow up quickly and marry me” he declared, his voice filled with conviction.
My heart skipped a beat as I woke up, startled, tears streaming down my face.
“It was just a dream” I said to myself, trying to control my lingering emotions.
We grew up, but everything has changed. Life and its complexities and I have no right to dictate or predict the future.
I glanced at the clock realizing I was running late for dinner with Bryan.
Hastily, I washed my face and hurried downstairs. He was already waiting for me in his tailored, resplendent suit. His punctuality, always intimidating.
His eyes searched mine narrowly, as his expression darkened. He sensed worry.
“What’s wrong? He asked.
“I...uh…was seeing a romantic movie, and it was really touching” I fabricated.
Desperate to steer the conversation away, I quickly added “I also want to talk to you.”
Bryan’s expression changed, filled with questions. “What do you want to talk about?”
My fingers tightened around the necklace as I pulled it off my neck.
"Let's start with this". I can't accept such a valuable gift. "Please take it back."
My eyes searched Bryan's, hoping for understanding, but his response caught me off guard.
"This is just a necklace. "If you don't like it, just throw it away." His nonchalance sent a shiver down my spine.
I knew this was going to be difficult.
Undeterred, I pulled out the check he had given to me earlier.
"Please take this back too. "I haven't done anything for you; there's no reason for me to take this." My voice trembled.
His expression darkened, his eyes narrowed. My nerves froze under his intense gaze, and I felt myself almost panicking.
With difficulty, I continued, "I don't think we need to meet again. I'm just an ordinary student. Please let me go." The words tumbled out, a desperate plea.
But Bryan's reaction was not what I expected. His fingers slammed down on the computer, plunging the car into a disturbing silence.
----------------
The air seemed to vibrate with tension.
Bryan's gaze locked onto mine, his eyes blazing with an unsettling intensity.
"You may not realize this, Quinn," he said, his voice dripping with aggression, "but you don't have the right to negotiate with me". "As long as I want, you can't go anywhere."
My heart skipped a beat.
Fear clawed its way up my throat, threatening to suffocate me. I tried to keep my voice steady, but it trembled.
"Even if you want revenge, don't you think bullying a girl like this is too much?"
Bryan's eyes widened, his pupils dilating as if they were struck by a jolt of electricity. The word "revenge" hung in the air like a challenge. The tension between us… pulsing with every heartbeat.
I knew I had hit a nerve.
"Yes, I know," I continued, my words spilling out in a desperate bid for freedom, as if speaking them aloud would shatter the chains binding me to his toxic dance.
"I have not forgotten you, just as you have not forgotten me. Although we have all grown up and look different from when we were children, I know you will not forget me; you will not forget anyone in my family." My voice cracked as I broke into little sobs.
The memories seclude my image.
Bryan's face transformed, his expression blank, as if void of emotions as I forced the words out, each one of them burning my tongue.
"Yes, it was my father who caused your father to commit suicide by jumping off a building, forcing you and your mother to flee far away," The words hung in the air.
"How could you possibly forget?" I whispered, my voice barely audible from the heartbreak I felt deep inside.
The car seemed to shrink, the space between us suffocating. Bryan's chest heaved, his breathing ragged, but he said nothing to me.
QUINN'S POV His piercing eyes, once bright with laughter, now seemed like they were staring right through my soul. For a moment, I looked at the man sitting beside me, struggling to find remnants of the little boy I once knew, but I couldn’t."You should have already investigated me," I continued, trying to keep my voice steady. "I was kicked out ten years ago, and I was just a child at that time."Bryan's expression remained unyielding, his jaw clenched in a fierce determination. "Do you think you're innocent?" he spat, his words laced with venom. "Let me tell you, not a single person in your family is innocent."Before I could respond, Bryan grasped my arm, pulling me out of the car. I stumbled, my heels scraping against the pavement. We were parked outside what looked like a villa, secluded and isolated. The desolate landscape and vast emptiness engulfed us."Bryan, please," I begged, trying to wriggle free.He dragged me upstairs, his grip unrelenting. I stumbled, my feet barely
---------------As his hands began to wander across my body, I clenched my eyes shut, bracing myself for the worst. The anticipation was suffocating. My heart raced with every touch. But as Bryan's lips left mine, I felt the chill of reality creeping back in. The warmth of his breath vanished, leaving me exposed and vulnerable.Yet, his hands refused to release their grip. They roamed my body, sending shivers down my spine. Every caress was like a whispered promise of what was to come."Bryan, please," I whispered again, this time my voice was barely audible, and my mind began racing with warning signals. My thoughts screamed resistance, but my body surrendered. This body betrayed me. His touch ignited a fire that spread through my veins like wildfire. I felt my defenses melting, my muscles relaxing into his soft caress. His fingers traced the curve of my neck, sending tremors through me. "You're mine, Quinn," he whispered, his breath hot against my skin. His lips claimed mine once m
I drifted back to reality, my memories releasing their hold on me as I reluctantly sighed. My body felt heavy, weighed down by the remnants of Bryan's touch. Every joint ached, still stiff from the tension.Eva's concerned eyes met mine, filled with unspoken questions. I knew she saw the bruises, the physical evidence of Bryan's torment. But she didn't pry, she didn't ask the questions lingering on her lips.Instead, she enveloped me in a gentle hug, guiding me toward the couch. "Let's get you comfortable, okay?" Her soft voice soothed my vulnerable nerves.Eva handed me a steaming cup of tea, her eyes filled with empathy. "Drink this, Quinn. You're shaking."I wrapped my hands around the warm mug, letting the soothing aroma calm my soul.As Eva helped me settle in, my phone’s jarring ringtone pierced the silence. I stared at the device, paralyzed and unresponsive. The screen displayed Bryan's name, taunting me. Not even a minute to myself? I sighed.Eva picked it up, hesitating for
QUINN'S POV“I don’t bite, so what are you afraid of?” Jasper asked so casually as he held my wrist.I tried to break loose and to my surprise, he didn’t bulge, he let me go. “I’m just a little jumpy, mostly around those who gain joy from others' pain ”, I added, wondering where I got the nerves to speak to him so bluntly. His smile faltered for a moment, before he chuckled. “Fair enough. I deserved that”His acknowledgment took me by surprise. I expected him to get defensive, but he wasn’t.He studied me silently for a moment with genuine concern on his face before trying to reassure me.“You’re safe with me, Quinn. I promise” as if sensing my uneasiness.“Okay, how about we start over? As friends?” He added, extending his hands for a handshake.I stood puzzled, trying to imagine what went wrong with Jasper Brown today. My eyes scanned his table, he’d barely touched his drink, so I couldn’t easily pass him off as being drunk. He wiggled the hand in front of me, informing me that it
We settled into a quiet corner table, surrounded by the aroma of freshly brewed coffee. Anna's eyes locked on mine, her expression serious. We placed our orders and waited for the barista to take her leave."We haven't seen each other in a long time" she said, sounding sincere, “How are you doing recently?” I raised an eyebrow, cutting to the chase. "Skip the small talk. We don’t need to talk to each other like that, just tell me what you want?"Anna's expression changed, as she breathed in, fiddling with her fingers. "Have you visited your Mother's grave lately?"I scoffed, sensing where this was going. "I was there yesterday."Her eyes widened "So you know already.""Yeah, I know. My mom’s ashes are gone. I reported it to the police, I’m waiting for the results" I said, my anger rising.I looked at her uneasiness and got disgusted by the act. “Don't tell me you came over to show me you care?”“You’ve heard all the recent things Quinn, including our big brother's situation. You’re so
-----------------I know what he wants to do, “Bryan, please don’t” I started pleading. He paused, with his expression softening a little bit. The assistant added "She’s right Sir, I’m not sure if this is the right timing. And nobody knows how those journalists will report this, you know, in the hospital."After a brief moment, Bryan nodded, and we took a U-turn toward the other door.I felt really relieved. As soon as we settled inside the car, my eyes met a slightly frustrated Bryan. I wondered what was on his mind. "Do you really not want anything to do with me?" He asked.Unsure of my reply, I decided to change the topic. “Do you have someone following me? How did you know I was in the hospital?”Bryan’s brows furrowed, "I’m just trying to protect you."Protection? His eyes intensified again. “If you were really pregnant, is it possible that you'd abort it without telling me?I hesitated a little bit, I didn’t expect that question from him.His hands moved to my thighs as he rubb
BRYAN’S POV"I want to go home," she whispered.Exactly what I had imagined.Always running away when necessary, my grip on her tightened. I couldn't let her go. Not now, not ever."I'll never let you go," I muttered, my voice barely audible.Quinn's eyes widened, and she tried to push away, but I held firm."Bryan?" she muttered, her voice low and soothing.I didn't answer. I couldn't. My mind was racing with thoughts of losing her again. Why did she always want to leave? Didn't she understand that I have suffered enough, waiting so long for her?I knew her family had come to her for help. They have no option but Quinn. This time, I am ready. I will clear all obstacles, and make sure nothing stands in our way.I'll show her she's mine. I'll make her fall in love with me, no matter what it takes. My eyes locked onto hers, and I saw the fear creeping in. But I knew it was mixed with something else – an attraction. She feels it too. She just doesn't know it yet.————————-EVA’S POVAs I
I remained outside the hospital room, watching through the glass window. She seemed to be having a nightmare. Her face contorted, her body twitching underneath the sheets. Matt's eyes were filled with concern, he was almost panicking. He was holding her hand and speaking softly to calm her down as he stroked her hair. Such care and compassion. Very touching. He didn't even realize I'd been all by myself sitting right here.I took a deep breath, I couldn’t bring myself to go in. So I remained outside, resting against an arm pole besides me. A few minutes later, Matt stepped out, looking around. "Hey, Bryan's gone?," he asked, taking a huge heave of relief."I know," I replied. "He probably has an emergency.”Matt's expression turned thoughtful. "Okay, so…I’m curious. How does she know Bryan and Jasper? He eyed me intently. “It doesn’t look like it’s all about that day.”I hesitated, chuckling a little bit. “Things are actually more complicated than you think, Matt.”He stared at me,
I quickly grabbed my phone and dialed Eva's number, my mind on edge with anticipation. When she answered, I could hear the faint sound of chattering and music in the background."Hello, Eva. I need to see you right away," I said, trying to convey that it was urgent without alarming her."I'm in the middle of an event, Matt. Can we reschedule for later?" She asked, almost screaming into the phone.I hesitated for a moment before responding. "I'm afraid it can't wait, Eva. Is Quinn with you?" I asked, in hopes that Quinn's presence might make her more willing to leave."No, she stepped out a while ago, saying she had somewhere to go. What's going on, Matt? You're beginning to get me worried," she asked, her tone laced with concern.I took a deep breath before responding. "There's someone I want you to meet, Eva. Someone who has information that might be...enlightening. Please, just trust me on this. I'll text you the address. Can you get here as soon as possible?"Eva hesitated for some
I tapped my foot impatiently on the dusty floor, my eyes fixed on the entrance of the abandoned warehouse. Lucas was running late, and I was starting to lose my patience. I glanced at my wristwatch for what felt like the hundredth time."Five more minutes, and I'm leaving," I muttered to myself, already mentally preparing to walk away from this whole ordeal. But as I looked at my watch again, I realized that those five minutes had flown by faster than I expected, and Lucas was still nowhere to be found.I let out a deep sigh of frustration. "This is ridiculous, what was I even thinking believing all that bullshit" I said aloud, shaking my head. I pulled out my cell phone, signaling to my assistant that it was time to leave.Just as I was about to turn away, my assistant spoke up, "He's here, Sir." I turned to see Lucas hurrying towards us with an older man behind him. The man looked weak, with an emaciated face and sunken eyes that seemed to hold a very deep sadness.Lucas apologized
I rushed back to the hospital as soon as I got Eva's text saying Quinn was awake. My mind traveled back to when the doctor had shared the news about her pregnancy. The room went silent. I grew numb for a few seconds, my eyes fixed on her pale face. We all knew who the baby belonged to, and the thought of it pierced through my chest. I could feel Eva's eyes on me watching my every move, but I just couldn't bring myself to look up at her.I have no chance with Quinn now that I think of it.And maybe that's okay. I'm just glad she is awake and safe.I approached Eva, who was standing by the door with worry on her face. "Where's Quinn?" I asked while scanning the room."She's asleep," Eva managed to mutter.I nodded, feeling a bit relieved. "I had to finish up some work, but as soon as I was done, I rushed over here," I explained, though Eva didn't seem to be interested."It's fine, Matt," Eva cut in, her eyes fixed on Quinn's sleeping form. "It's been four hours, and she's been sleeping
QUINN'S POVWe stepped into our apartment, the familiar scent relieving every bit of exhaustion that I felt. Eva followed closely behind me, helping me settle onto the couch. We had just gotten back from the hospital."Hey, how are you feeling?" She asked, handing me a glass of water.I took a sip, taking a deep breath as I stared blankly into space. "I really do not know, Eva. Maybe lost?"She wrapped her arms around me. "You're not alone, Quinn. You have me, and you have that little baby inside you to think about. You're going to take care of yourself and that baby, that's all. Remember what the doctor said? You need to rest, eat well, and avoid stress."I nodded, taking in all of her words. "Eva smiled, standing up. "I know you can. Now, I'm going to go grab some groceries. We need to stock up on healthy food for you and the baby."I smiled weakly. "Thanks, Eva."Watching as she headed out the door, I leaned back onto the couch, my hand instinctively resting on my stomach. I would
QUINN'S POVI lay in the hospital bed, my eyes fixed on the ceiling as the doctor's words echoed in my mind. Pregnant. I'm pregnant. The door creaked open, and Bryan walked in, his eyes scanning the room until they landed on me. He looked...different. He approached me, holding out a bouquet of flowers. "Hey," he called softly. "I brought you some flowers."I had no response. I was still trying to process the news, my mind reeling with questions and fears.Eva stood up, eyes fixed on Bryan like she was issuing out a warning to be gentle. "She's not said a word to me since she got up." She explained to Bryan."Quinn honey, are you okay?" she asked, in a soft voice, and I managed to nod, feeling a lump form in my throat. I still couldn't speak or express the emotions piling up inside of me. Bryan reached out to touch my hand, and suddenly my body sprang to life. It began shaking tremendously, my eyes wide with fright as the words tumbled out."Get away from me, you monster! You're a mon
BRYAN'S POVI walked out of the hospital room, bumping into Doctor Lee. He was a familiar face from my previous visit to his hospital when one of my workers had an emergency."Ah, Mr. Braxton! Good to see you again," he called in a friendly tone.I nodded curtly, my mind still reeling from the emotions that had overwhelmed me in Quinn's hospital room. "Doctor Lee.""What brings you here?," he asked."Oh, my girlfriend Ms Quinn. She was admitted here.""Oh really? I didn't know that." He remarked as he leaned in closely, giving me a brief update on her condition. "In that case, I have to share something with you, Mr. Braxton. Something that I think you should know."My gut tightened, seeing that he looked off. "What is it, Doctor?" I asked in a calm tone.Doctor Lee hesitated for a moment before dropping the bombshell. "Ms. Quinn is two months pregnant. Mr. Braxton."My world stopped.Pregnant? Quinn is pregnant? The doctor's words hung in the air, refusing to compute. I felt like I ha

QUINN'S POVI walked into the living room, carrying a tray with a fresh drink for Matt. He had stopped by unexpectedly, and we chatted for a bit till I got thirsty and disappeared to get water. When I returned, I noticed that Matt and Eva were engaged in a heated discussion. They were speaking in hushed tones, but their body language told me something was wrong. Eva's arms were crossed, and Matt's looked all tensed.I set the extra cup of water on the table, turning to them, "What's going on?" I asked. They paused, looking at each other uncertainly. Matt opened his mouth to speak, but Eva quickly covered it with her hand.Matt looked at Eva, then back at me. I could sense his frustration."Okay, Eva, enough. Let Matt speak." I said whilst folding my hands. Eva finally removed her hand, and Matt took a deep breath of relief.Eva and Matt exchanged another glance, and then Eva nodded. The room fell silent for a moment before she spoke up."We found your dad's former secretary," she anno
