Chapter 149

Chris raised his brow as if not believing what fortune said. Asia on the side slowly nodded to confirm fortunes words. "but have you tried calling him or leaving him a text message?" Chris asked again. Fortune chuckled "of course, I have tried calling him in three consecutive days and even dropped him more than one text message but he still didn't call back or respond. Chris was slightly shocked and just nodded.

As he was driving, he happened to stop at the red traffic light. Chris quickly took out his phone and gave it to fortune.

" try calling him using my phone and see if he will respond or not". Fortune nodded and did as she was told by Chris. She quickly dialed Alex's number, it was ringing and to her surprise, the call connected. "hello this is Alex speaking, may I know who is calling?" Fortune heard the familiar voice that she had not heard in a while." its fortune". Alex on the other end froze for a few seconds then alike before fortune could say anything"baby I am so sorry, I have been busy in the past few days, I am not in the city. You know how my work is. 

I am out of town as we are speaking and the area I am in has bad network coverage. I am sorry for not telling you and for not returning your calls. It's not my fault. I always tell myself that I would call you after work but I don't know, I usually feel so exhausted after a long day of work and I forget to call you. I hope you understand?". Fortune didn't object him in any way, "ok I understand," fortune said then hung up the call. " what did he say?" Asia was curious to know what Alex said. "he said he is out of town for some work.

He has been out for a while now and I am not sure when he's coming back. I didn't ask" fortune responded truthfully."hmm that's it? how can... "he said the area he's in, at the moment has poor network coverage" fortune quickly added, she knew Asia would ask yet another question. Fortune handed over Chris's phone to Asia, then sat back quietly. She didn't think that was reason enough for Alex to ignore her but she still didn't argue with him. He is a grown man and knows what he is doing. I can't force him to talk to me when he doesn't want to.

Fortune thought to herself. The journey went on for two hours and they soon arrived. "fortune, hey" camilla greeted as she hugged fortune. and welcomed the guests.  They all went in and made themselves comfortable. Terry and Chris went to the study leaving the three women alone to catch up on their stories. 

Meanwhile, Alex was in his house in deep thought. This girl fortune is so stupid. Can't she tell when a man wants her and when he doesn't? I have given her so many signals that I don't want her anymore yet she still wants to call me.

Doesn't she not know how this game works? goodness, why did I involve myself with such a girl? How I hate virgin girls. if I knew she was a virgin, I wouldn't have wasted my time on her. They are so clingy and think their first guy will marry them. So stupid. Now, this girl wants to chase me around like I owe her anything. I was only buying time with her not that I wanted to be with her. Fortune is not even close to my type. She is not in the category of girls that I like. She is too dense, not flexible, and likes things that bore me.

Alex thought to himself. Meanwhile, at Terry's house, everyone was having a good time. As young adults did, they took some wine and had some BBQ with Greek salads and all the meaty food they could braai. Camilla couldn't drink any alcohol, she was only allowed to drink fruit juice..Fortune forgot about all her worries, she was having a good time with her sister and friends. Later in the evening, Chris and Asia left. "fortune, how are things between you and Alex, why didn't he come along?" camilla asked curiously, she was eager to know.

Fortune chuckled "we are doing well..the thing is that he is out of town for some work. That's why he couldn't come" Fortune responded. She didn't want to tell Camilla what was really happening to avoid her from getting stressed. Camilla smiled brightly "wow this is great news, I am so happy for you. You are finally happy goodness..I thought you would never be happy after the breakup you had with Zack but look at you now..I am so proud of you my littlee sister" Camilla said as she wrapped her arms around fortune, "camilla careful"

Fortune reminded camilla "you must not be careless at this stage". Camilla rolled her eyes, " fine doctor, I have heard" camilla responded jokingly. "camilla this is no joke, you need to take care of yourself and be more careful". The two girls chatted till it was late and they went to sleep in their respective rooms. " darling I don't know what you have done to me, I just can't get enough of you" Alex said as he caressed her." I guess you will get enough of me once we get married, you know we are only two months away right? Kim responded with a smile.

Alex nodded "yes, just two months. Days went by slowly and it was time for fortune to return. It felt like she had only been with Camilla for a day. "fortune, make sure you take care of yourself for me. And oh, say hi to Alex for me" fortune smiled "ok, ok camilla I will". "I also put some snacks for you to have on your way, make sure you have them". Fortune sighed helplessly then nodded and got into the car. " hey Arnold, make sure you drive my little sister straight to her apartment door. Drive safely, don't over speed" camilla gave the driver instructions. The driver smiled and nodded "yes ma'am, I will do as you say"
