“Was he the one you were on the phone with last time?” Xander’s cold voice came, and my whole body froze. Kenzo’s body became rigid, too, before we slowly loosened our arms around each other and let go of our hug.

I felt like I had done something wrong when I had done nothing wrong, like when he caught me talking to Jace on the phone.

“No! No!” I repeated this while shaking my head. “It was Jace! I was talking to Jace! Jace is my nephew, Xander!”
