CHAPTER 6

The aunt took out her phone and dialed 112. She was a complete moron; did she think she was bluffing when she came here? She snatched the phone from the aunt's grasp and smashed it against the walk without even touching it. The aunt screamed, the uncle became concerned, and she smiled.

“I told you that you would sign the forms one way or another. Should I put you in a death scenario to get you to do what I'm asking?”

They thought she was still bluffing, so she suffocated the uncle, watching as he struggled to breathe, his eyes popping out like a toad, tears streaming down his cheeks.

At that point, the aunt fell to her knees, sobbing and pleading for mercy.

“We'll do anything; just let us live.”

“You should have been cooperative from the start, and we wouldn't be making each other suffer right now,” she said as she walked away from the uncle.

The man took the forms and signed them after gasping for air. She took the forms, put them back in her bag, and stood up, smiling as she saw them retreat.

“I'm relieved to learn that you're still human after how you treat your own family. If any of you say anything about what happened today, I'll start with your children, then your relatives, and finally you. You will never be able to commit suicide because I will bring you back to life and kill you again.”

“We won't say anything, so please spare us.”

“I like it when people beg.”

“Please spare us,” they both agreed, and she smiled once more.

“As a friendly reminder to both of you, I don't want to see, smell, or hear your presence near her again. If you do that, I will not spare you. Remember to always keep an eye on your back, you never know what might happen to you,” she said as she exited the building, laughing aloud.

What she did was cruel, but she had no choice; she had to get her, and people like them deserved to die. If it hadn't been for the little girl, she would have put an end to their miserable lives for good.

Everything was settled in one day, and it didn't take long. It was advantageous to have connections in higher places. She smiled as she looked at the ten-year-old.

“You are my daughter as of today, but I don't want you to forget your birth parents, so I'm your godmother. I will protect you from harm and give you a better life beginning today. As a new beginning, I will call you by a different name than your old one.”

“I'm getting a new name?” the little inquired, relieved to hear that.

“Yes, your name will be Anne Grant as of today. And I will make you a powerful woman so that no one will ever trample over you again!”

“Yes, godmother.”

“So don't let me down, Anne.”

“I won't godmother,” Anne said as she grabbed her hand, and her god daughter has made it a habit to hold her hand ever since.

The news that the President's son had gotten engaged had somehow leaked, so the news coverage was a little frantic. His family had received the invitation, so he and his older brother would go because they were Damon's age group.

Dylan wasn't really friends with Damon because they had a falling out in high school over a girl. Who knew his father would be elected President of their country?

The wedding was in two days, and he was marrying a girl named Susan Grant. Her family was nothing special; her parents were retired but lived in a luxurious and expensive home, which made him reconsider Grant's position.

The eldest son was a well-known CEO who had won numerous awards and was married to the only daughter of the Minister of Tourism and Welfare.

The second child, a girl, was a mystery, with no information about her other than her middle school information. She was in an accident twenty years ago and was in a coma for a year; when she was released, she had nothing on her.

It was as if she didn't exist anymore, and he was left wondering where Samantha was.

The last two children were both girls, with the other being Lucy, a fifteen-year-old popular model who had recently appeared in a number of teen magazines. Susan, the last one to get engaged, was twenty years old, a university designer student, and well-known for her good looks.

This family was actually quite interesting, and he was not going to pass up the opportunity to learn more about them.

Dylan decided to go out and chill at Lucid Dreams the day before the engagement party. He hadn't been there in a long time, and his friends weren't available because they were too busy with their own lives. So he dialed Rita's number, who seemed pleased with the appointment.

He drove straight to the club after picking her up at her house. He used the wisdom gate once more, this time parking his car in an empty slot. Rita had not yet joined, which surprised him, but it didn't bother him. He only needed someone to spend the night with.

He checked in and asked Rita where she wanted to go, and she chose the crowded area full of young people. They found a seat on the dance floor because it was much busier tonight.

The servers arrived and took their orders.

Rita left for the dance floor after they had a couple of drinks, and he couldn't help but smile when he saw her dancing. She was a fantastic dancer who was attracting a lot of attention, which made his heart ache. Was he feeling envious right now?

If that was the case, he was almost certainly doomed. He eventually joined her on the dance floor and began dancing freely with her. It felt different seeing her there than the first time he saw her back at the mansion. Was it because there were no elder restraints and they were alone in this magical and enchanted place?

She was so stunning that he couldn't bear the thought of anyone looking at her. Perhaps it was the alcohol or the light's special effects, but he saw himself kissing Rita right there. She returned his kiss, and they kissed for a while before Rita dragged him off the floor.

When he awoke, tired and all, he noticed he was in his apartment bedroom, and next to him was Rita. He could tell they were intimate after that kiss in the club based on the way they were entangled. He didn't care how they got back.

What mattered now was the engagement party that evening at the state house. When he looked at his watch, he realized it was nearly noon. He got out of bed and went to the bathroom to take a shower. Rita was awake when he returned. He gently kissed her on the brow.

Rita took advantage of the opportunity to clean herself while he changed his clothes. They had an early lunch and he drove her home before she went to pick up his suit from the boutique.

Many guests had already arrived at the State House when he arrived. The hall where the engagement party would be held was nearly full. He couldn't help but notice the girl's side. Except for Susan and the mysterious sister, he saw only people he knew.

When the President and First Lady arrived, there wasn't much time until the ceremony began. They were stunning as usual, so he took his gaze away from them and began to look for other interesting things. There were many people he recognized from school and other events, including his older brother, who was standing next to him.

Rita was also in the hall, seated next to her parents, he noticed. Just as the President was taking his seat, another commotion broke out.

What exactly was going on that night? Seeing her once nearly made him pass out, but seeing her again at such a large event was too much for him. For a brief moment, he mistook his presence at her wedding for that of Suzy's engagement party.
