Lady Emily sighed as she looked up into my face and asked, "So," you're the one Aric killed our father for."

I sat there, trembling in silence, staring intently into her eyes. It was unclear to me whether or not the passing of her father had caused her to feel resentment toward me.

Was she formulating plans to exact revenge on me for my role in the passing of Lothaire?

If she intended to end what remained of my life, it wouldn't take much for her to accomplish that goal because it's not like I had much left to live for.

"Can she walk?

" she asked Aida rather than me, and to tell you the truth, I was happy about it. Despite the mending that had taken place, the rawness in my throat persisted.

"Yes," the other lady said as she moved into the conversation, "but she's still extremely feeble."

The vampire questioned aloud as he stood to take a look at the human slave, "What did he do to her?"

Aida saddened everyone by saying, "when she came, she'd been cruelly used." "I cannot provide any

As soon as I heard Aric pounding on the door and yelling my name, I realized I didn't have much time left.I grabbed a piece of the shattered mirror and drove it firmly into my arm before pulling it out, oblivious to the anguish it caused.I attempted to perform the technique with my other arm, but my hand could not properly grip the glass. Instead, I slashed as many times as possible in the little moment before the door blew open, and Aric ran in.When he saw what I was doing, he immediately yelled, "No!"I was so desperate for this to be over that I took the glass up to my throat and slashed it, knowing full well that I would be dead by the time he found someone who could save me.After I fell to the ground, I felt Aric pick me up and place me on his lap.He wailed, "Why?" as he tried to stop the blood flow from my many wounds. "Why?""I love you," I gurgled as I looked up at him, desperate for him to hear those words before it was too late.I was startled when I heard Aric shout, "

Liberty slept like she was dead, which was appropriate given that she actually was. Aric had given her a sufficient amount of his blood for the transformation from human to vampire to begin. He carried her lifeless body into the bedroom and laid it back on the bed, ensuring the covers were pulled up around her as firmly as possible.Even though he had only witnessed the transformation carried out twice before, he knew that Liberty's body would begin to violently thrash as soon as his blood began to take hold of her.He hadn't intended to do it just yet since he wanted her to decide on her own, but when he saw her cut her neck, he knew he couldn't let her pass away like that. After everything he had done to get to her, including making an alliance with his sister, setting his mother and father free, and killing his own father. "Liberty," a voice I was unfamiliar with, spoke to me, its tones rich and powerful despite having a strange accent. While floating in total darkness, I could not discern who had just spoken."Liberty," the voice repeatedly said as it reverberated in every direction.I yelled to locate the voice's origin, "I'm here," adding, "Where are you? I can't see you."It was barely over my shoulder when I heard a deep voice say, "Here," which sent chills down my spine. When I turned around, the most interesting-looking dude I'd ever seen stood directly in front of me.His eyes were the most shocking thing about him; they were swirling pools of dark brown that seemed to bore into my soul. He wore an ancient style of armor that was scarred and well-worn. His dark hair hung tight ringlets to his shoulders, pulled back by a leather strap. His beard was a mix of curls and plats that rested on his chest and seemed cut square at the bottom. His beard was pulled back with a strap of leather.I questione

Aric exhaled a sigh of relief as he witnessed the dawning of her eyes and spoke the word "liberty.""Hi," she said, flashing a warm and inviting grin that caused my chest to tighten."I wasn't sure if you were ever going to wake up," he said as he brought her hand to his mouth and passionately kissed it while tears ran down his face. "I wasn't sure if you would ever wake up."Liberty said, "I wasn't gone that long," appearing perplexed by the question.Aric looked into her eyes as he said the following: "Darling, you've been unconscious for practically an entire day."She looked at him and questioned, "A day?" with amazement taking the place of her earlier perplexity. As he got to his feet to offer help, he asked, "Are you able to sit up?"Liberty nodded as she sat straight in anticipation of Aric piling cushions behind her back and shoulders. He said, "How are you feeling?" while looking at her with worry in his eyes."I'm hungry," she acknowledged, her newly grown fangs falling down

A loud pounding at the door drew our attention away from the fact that we were still connected together as we sat there.Aric groaned and laid his head on my chest, caressing my breasts and lips before saying, "Fuck me." He was clearly exhausted."Didn't I just do that?" you could ask."I purred as I eased my way away from him while he whimpered in pain.I snatched the sheet from the bed, and Aric followed me close after me to the bathroom. As the banging continued, he yelled, "Just a minute," before opening the door. When we were in the restroom, I took great delight in wiping my fluids off of him, and I laughed heartily whenever I reached the delicate tip of his nose.He gasped for air and clutched the counter as his knees shook weakly. "You're being cruel on purpose," he said.I merely gave him a kind grin as I stood, planted a peck on his cheek, and then turned on the water in the shower. After removing the perspiration and other fluids that had been produced during the act of lov

Leanor waited patiently for everyone in the conference room to find a seat before starting the meeting. She observed as everyone made their way around the room and sat down.Aric, Liberty, Emily, and the captain of her guard were seated to her left, and then some of her most outspoken and ardent admirers took their places behind them.To her right was a row of Lothaire's sycophants, faceless minions her husband had delegated over the years to carry out the responsibilities he had neglected because he was too preoccupied with having fun to do so himself. These creatures would have to demonstrate their allegiance to her son before they would be accepted. She stood tall and confident as she announced, "Lord Lothaire has passed away," and said, "Lord Aric is now the rightful ruler of the Northwest Territory."Aric whispered, "Mom," but his words were virtually obliterated by the roar that immediately followed. While swiftly standing, he pressed his mouth on her ear so no one else could he

When Aric stated that he intended to marry me, I instinctively jerked back, and if I were to believe the look that his mother gave me, she wasn't exactly thrilled with the idea, either.I attempted to attract Aric's attention as he made his proclamations, but he was so focused on maintaining control that he never looked her way. After everyone else had left the room, Lady Leanor finally let out all of the pent-up frustration that she had been holding in. His mother and sister were the only other persons in the room."Why did you do that?"She snarled as she glared aggressively in his direction."To what end?""Aric inquired while displaying signs of bewilderment. You have just informed Liberty of your intention to marry her!She shouted at me while swinging her arm and said, "She used to be a pet!" And the toy of your paternal grandfather! You won't be able to win her over as your woman!"Hearing those remarks caused me more pain than anything else I'd ever been through. She was absol
