As I was being brought through Lord Lothaire's mansion in Seattle, I couldn't help but stare in wonder at the garish wealth that surrounded me.

I was escorted into several rooms decorated with gold embellishments, paintings, and sculptures depicting people who appeared to be being tortured or enslaved and were either hanging or standing.

Nobody spoke, including any of the other humans I came across, even the slave I was following. Every one of them had obvious evidence of maltreatment and had just been subjected to cruel feedings.

When I saw them, I couldn't help but marvel at how Aric could have grown up in such an environment and still managed to become a nice and compassionate adult compared to them.

When he was himself, though, he was the kindest, most compassionate guy I'd ever met. It's true that when he lost control, he turned into a complete monster who killed without remorse or guilt, but when he wasn't himself, he was an utter monster.

After entering an elevator, a slave hit

"Crap." "So, I called you on your birthday—how did that conversation go?"Henry laughed cynically as he looked at him from across the car and asked, "So," we're screwed?"Aric had little choice but to shrug and wait as the circle of motorbikes continued to close in on them.At least twelve bloodsucking vampires, clothed in leather, dismounted their bicycles and took off their

Aida provided a calming atmosphere by humming as I cleaned the dirt and perspiration that had accumulated on me throughout my travel from Spokane. She even assisted me in washing my back, being careful with the scrapes and bruises there. As I emerged from the water, I did my best to avoid looking at the hue the water had become, but I couldn't help but notice how white it had become.Aida presented me with a towel that was so big that I had to use it to wrap myself up in it twice."Come," she commanded while taking my hand in hers. While sneezing, she helped me to a chair nearby and combed the knots out of my wet hair. She cautioned him in a soft voice, "You have to stop crying; the more you do, the more Lord Lothaire will torment you."I nodded and wiped away the tears, but they were quickly replaced by more. I did everything I could, but I could not stop them. After she had finished combing my hair, Aida took the remaining strands and coiled them into a tight braid while interweavin

Aric pushed off the ground and started walking away from Moses Lake with his pal by his side and his sister following close after.Emily approached Henry and leaned forward between the chairs to inquire, "How have you been, Henry?"Henry responded with a deep sigh and looked at her with melancholy eyes while staring at her. "Until last night I was alright," he said. She sighed and patted him on the shoulder as she said, "Yeah, Daddy usually leaves me with that sensation whenever he comes to visit."She questioned, "How is Alfie?" before realizing that he had been kidnapped, and then she asked, "Still the biggest drama queen?"Henry gave his knuckle a firm bite and then turned his attention to the window behind him.Emily questioned, "What?" as she looked to her brother for an answer. "What?"Aric replied, "Dad took Alfie too," while focusing on the road in front of him."What?" his sister questioned, her mouth agape in surprise as she stared at him in disbelief.Aric yelled, "Wait!" b

I didn't move an inch while Aida put one ensemble after another in front of me, trying to determine which would appeal most to Lord Lothaire's sense of style. In the end, I found myself wearing a deep crimson silk shirt that appeared to be missing several buttons at the top, causing it to flop open and expose my breasts, a black lace bra with matching underwear, the most uncomfortable black leather pants man has ever created, and a pair of the most uncomfortable black leather pants man has ever created. In addition, she wore a wide silver belt, shiny black high-heeled boots that caused pain in my ankles and calves and black leather cuff bracelets that encompassed most of my forearms.Next came the earrings. Aida used a little cannon quite similar to the one that Lord Lothaire had used to set my tag to pierce my ears because I had never had that done before. When I looked in the mirror at the end product, I couldn't believe I was looking at myself. I couldn't believe it.The naive youn

"Are you two crazy?"You intend to assassinate the king?" Aric questioned, unable to believe what he was hearing. "Are you crazy?"Emily was startled by his question as he glared at her in the mirror. "Who is our father?"It's possible that he was around when we were conceived, but he's not our biological father, his sister remarked angrily.Aric said in the same fiery manner, "It may be," but that does not imply that we must murder him."No," she said in agreement, "not only that," but for everything else he's done to us over the last century and a half... for that, we do!"Aric uttered the word "Fuck" as he swerved his vehicle to get it back on the road and came dangerously close to losing control as he drove over the twisting mountain pass. "I agree that he's a jackass, a lousy parent, and an even worse dictator, but murder him?"Emily let out an angry sigh, knowing she had no choice but to play her ace in the hole. "Okay," she said. "Even if you don't hold him responsible for what

Aida showed me the way to the elevator and pressed the button that would take me to the highest floor. As it moved closer to whatever new version of Hell Lord Lothaire had in mind, I began to experience some strange sensations. The dazzling lights over my head gradually transitioned from pure white to a kaleidoscope of hues as they continued to alter. As I held out my hand, I observed the droplets of color as they spread across my skin and moved up my arm toward my shoulder. When the colors got to my throat, I started to taste each one individually. There was a lovely banana, in addition to green apple, blueberry, and cherry.Next to her, Aida said, "Liberty, are you experiencing any symptoms of illness?"When I turned my head, I could just make out the woman's outline through the blur of colors moving over my field of view."I'm alright," I exhaled, even though I was approaching my destination. I felt really calm.I had to squint to see that she didn't truly believe what I was saying

Aric was fuming as he grasped the driving wheel, his knuckles growing white as he clenched his fists tightly. "You've known for a week that mum is being detained against her will, and you didn't tell me?"Emily retorted furiously, "Dude, we haven't talked in months! I didn't know if you would even accept my call!"Aric said defensively, "I phoned you exactly two months ago on your birthday.""Right," his sister chuckled angrily, "a complete five-minute phone call during which there were at least three minutes of awkward silence involved. Yeah, that was a call to remember."As the three people in the automobile got closer to the light on the horizon, a profound quiet descended upon them. After a prolonged period of stillness, Aric sighed and muttered, "I'm sorry."Emily's response was, "I know, dummy." "We just need to figure out how we'll get mum out. I'm sure dad has the place buzzing with guards," said the daughter. "We must figure out how we'll get mom out."Henry said to the two o

"I missed you!"The man looked at us and said, "Oh crap." Lara, what did you gift her for her birthday?I couldn't help but chuckle as I grabbed Lara by the hands and pulled them until the other person let go of her.
