BLOODCREST CITY

The night was pitch black. No stars to fill the sky. The only patch of light was the moon, but even it was shaded by the fast-moving clouds.

Huge giant buildings stood beside the desolate streets of the city resting in silence as the starry black sky wept over it. A few lights flickered from the bright, yellow street lamps.

Adrenaline was rushing. Blood was pumping. Legs were moving. Running quickly away from her perpetrator who kept chasing after her non-stop inflamed by bloodlust and laughing maniacally.

He navigated the maze of city streets, searching for the perfect place to grab a bite to eat.

"aaaAAHHH!!! Sto-"

A loud, shrilling scream echoes in the corner of the dark alley in Bloodcrest City as the red crescent moon appears in the sky with its might bringing a harbinger of the fall of mankind.

Bloodcrest City or known as the Red City. The teeming ruby of metropolis was home to three beings: The existence of vampires, humans, and werewolves dated back from the beginning of the emerging old city. An accord was formed to keep the balance of centuries of war. They coexist with the men however humankind was unaware of their existence and that these beings in the dark solely feed on their blood.

The lady let out a final breath as her eyes were devoid of life. The crimson blood drips through her chest as the two holes appear vividly on her neck. Feeling unsatisfied, the man broke her victim's head and ruthlessly separated it from her torso.

"Ah, that wasn't enough to fill my hunger."

The man, whose eyes glimmer in red oozing desire for more blood looks coldly at the lifeless body in his arms. He licked his upper lip as his fangs extended sharply.

"Tss."

He arched a sardonic eyebrow. The bloodsucker then tossed the corpse ruthlessly on the bridge like it was a paper. He sniffs into the air looking for another prey. A sinister smile formed on his pale face.

"It's time to go hunting."

THE NEXT MORNING....

Hope Haven. A gloomy residence, abode for thirty orphan children stood in the isolated part of the Bloodcrest City run by one priest and twelve nuns for thirty years.

Sumire, a fine young lady gifted with brains and beauty was the last orphan they adopted. She was the beloved orphan among all her peers, living in peace and away from danger. She grew up surrounded by books and was taught how to face the threat when she stepped into the outside world from the nuns.

The young lady stayed at the orphanage until she was thirteen years old when she decided to explore the heart of Bloodcrest City. With her talent, skills, intelligence, and beauty, Sumire had no difficulty in sending herself to school even though she was still a minor.

"Happy birthday to me."

Sumire greeted herself as she looked up at the serene sky with a smile perfectly carved on her face. Today was her eighteenth birthday.

Her pair of deep brown eyes set on the park where her favorite spot is. The lush park was teeming with vibrant flowers and plants that were both beautiful and fragrant. The idyllic park was like something out of a fairy tale.

Green Meadows. The name of the nearest park to the university she is in. She often retreated to the secluded park near the outskirts of the city to find peace and quiet. She found solace in the serene beauty of the place.

"Love can we meet again soon in the bluest of skies...where a tomorrow waits for you and I..."

Sumire hummed the song as she found herself walking to the bench with books in her hands unbeknownst to her a pair of eyes deeply gazed at her.

Inside the phantom limousine car parked not far from Green Meadows, a young little boy in his adorable black suit stared intently at the lady in a white dress sitting on the bench.

His eyes are fixed and never blink at the beauty ahead of them who captivates his focus and attention after he commands his butler to stop the car.

"Young master...is there a problem?"

The butler asked but the young boy answered him with silence and ignored him.

Brows slightly furrowed, the father and the butler's gaze shifted at the same time at the place where the young boy's eyes set off.

It was a young girl. A beautiful lady who was engrossed in her studies with a small beaming smile curved on her lips. Her smile was spring but there was autumn in her eyes, softly brown, with a hint of passing summer and the promise of winter dark and deep.

The boy strode out of the car with a hand in his little pocket. His dad and the butler standing behind him. He stood there oozing an aura of a grown-up man. His steady gaze locked on the lady with a hint of a small spark in his dark grey eyes.

"It's too much."

A man in his late twenties caught the attention of his five-year-old son. The boy remained unfazed but a wild, dangerous glitter in his eyes.

The butler who was with them was also shaking his head in disbelief after he witnessed how his young master stared at the lady.

"What?"

The boy asked in a cold flat tone, not taking his eyes off the lady who was completely unaware of their presence in the place.

"Son, you're staring too much."

The father quizzically replied with a broad grin that threatened to break into a laugh. The mischievous glint in his eye accompanied his sly smile. The young boy remained unconcerned at his dad's remark.

"I want her."

In a cold, serious, and authoritative tone, the young lad said and the butler's gaze turned to him.

"You're still a-"

The young boy didn't let his father finish speaking when he strode forward and walked towards the place where the lady was sitting and studying who seemed to have dwelled in her world.

Her lips curved upwards in a gentle smile and a dimple appeared on her cheek when she noticed that she was almost done with the review.

Truth be told, Sumire does not need to study for the final test. She just does not have anything to do in her free time, that's why she decides to review to pass the time. She chose the isolated park near her university, which is hidden from people. The thick tree lines and vast open fields bring a sense of freedom and grandeur. The soft calming breeze flowing across the field is refreshing. It's a perfect place for her to study.

The moment she folded the book, her heart pounded erratically when Sumire was surprised to see a boy appear to her who looked like a human-sized doll staring at her.

Without averting his intense stare, he stood in front of her. There's something about his dark grey hunter eyes, hidden beneath his thick eyebrows and slightly disheveled hair, that seems to pull her in.

Sumire found it hard to look away from his compelling eyes that seemed to ask her to inch closer. Her focus was on the boy, unaware of another two presence behind him.

"I'm Mort."

Without beating a bush, the young boy formally introduces himself like a real adult man while extending her small hand and holding her gaze.

A smile from her eyes, her lips, and fell completely off her face.

"Sumire."

She replied with a serene smile and shook his hand. Sumire finds the boy very amusing with his posture and attitude.

"You are adorable."

Sumire messed up his hair gently and held his cheeks. She gave it a gentle squeeze. The young boy remained unmoved and kept staring deeply into her eyes like searching for her soul.

"I'm his father. Bjorn Titus."

The man who bears the resemblance of the boy introduced himself. Sumire found herself mesmerized by his otherworldly visage. His chiseled good looks caught her attention.

Bjorn was about to shake hands with Sumire but quickly withdrew his hand before she could reach him when he felt a powerful, foreboding aura. The young boy exerts overwhelming pressure on the two men.

'For a kid, you're quite possessive.' said Bjorn at the back of his mind. His eyes squinted from a smile and just nodded at the lady apologetically.

Sumire smiled in return and nodded as though she understood the man.

"Live with me."

Straightforward, Mort said suddenly. The three adults were looking at him at once, utterly stunned.

"Young Master, that's not how you ask a lady." Klauss, the butler said in a troubled voice.

"I'm not asking though."

With a stoic face, Mort replied which silenced Klauss. Bjorn on the other hand, grinned looking down at his son. He doesn't know whether he will be amazed or get pissed by his son's audacity.

"Don't mind him. He just likes you a lot. You know kids these days."

Bjorn said accompanied with a chuckle which was light, and laced with a hum of amusement at the matter.

Shyly, Sumire joined him softly chuckling, not knowing how to respond. The atmosphere around them gradually gets heavier just from the presence of the young boy.

Mort was about to speak again when suddenly someone called the lady's name which interrupted him.

"Sumire!"

A young man with a pair of striking golden eyes, who was five years older than Sumire, appeared running and approaching her place.

Bjorn and Klauss quickly turned to the man. The bead of sweat forming on his forehead sparkles under the rays of the sun. Mort on the other hand is not taking his eyes off her.

Sumire flashed a wide, breathtaking smile at the young man walking towards her. This is her friend, Stavros.

"Why are you late?"

Giving him her handkerchief, she asked. The man sniffed on the fragrance of the silk before wiping his sweats off which made young Mort's gaze darkened. Stavros then picks up her books in her hand.

"Just taking care of something."

He replied and Stavros flashed an affectionate smile at her. The young man failed to notice the three Sumire's unexpected visitor. He only sees her in his eyes.

"You like dogs, huh."

Klauss bluntly remarked which caught their attention. Head slightly tilted, Sumire cast him questioning eyes. She does not understand what the butler is trying to imply.

Stavros' smile quickly vanished when he noticed the person and recognized them. Especially, the one with the most powerful presence among them, who is the young Mort.

The young man gulped hard and shifted his gaze to Sumire. Baffled how she got to know them.

"Ah, I just met them. And this kid likes me."

Sumire said, which answers Stavros' unheard question. She turned to Mort, messed his hair up a little, and flashed a dazzling smile that could lighten up the room.

Stavros was nailed on his place and blinked a few more times trying to comprehend the situation they were in.

"I'm Sumire's friend, Stavros."

He introduced himself and extended his hand but none of the three visitors accepted his hand. They just ignored Stavros' presence in the place.

Sumire, on the other hand, was taken completely by young Mort's cold charm. She held his gaze and smiled at the young boy, unaware of what was happening behind her back.

"Let's talk next time we meet."

Bjorn said meaningfully as he handed his business card to Sumire which the lady immediately accepted.

"Sure thing, Sir."

Sumire genuinely smiled in response. Stavros was about to hold her hand when he met young Mort's eyes as if they held some dark warning to him. It was like Death glared at him.

She was about to leave the place to go back to school when a small hand caught her wrists which slightly startled her.

Mort's grip is impenetrable, his eyes shone a glint of red which quickly vanished, stone-cold serious.

"Ruh Ikizim."
