He was arrogant and indifferent as he leaned back in a more leisurely posture on his chair. “I want to look the best tomorrow.”

Thomas nodded, jotting down notes on his tablet. "Of course, sir. Anything else?"

Alex paused as though considering something. "Yes, actually. I want you to dig up everything you can on Gaard Corp. Financial records, employee rosters, any whispers of scandal or impropriety. If there's dirt to be found, I want it on my desk by morning."

"Right away, Mr. Montgomery," Thomas replied.

With that, he turned to leave.

Alex leaned back in his plush leather chair with a smug grin playing across his face.

He felt like the luckiest bastard alive.
