Chapter 10: I've got you now

Alaric's eyebrow twitched at Isaac's last comment, his irritation only growing. "An exception, is it?" he muttered under his breath, barely audible, yet enough for Isaac to catch the drift. There was a competitive edge creeping into their usual banter, something unspoken that Alaric couldn't quite name but felt in the pit of his stomach.

Isaac who noticed the subtle shift in his friend's demeanor, chose to let it pass. "Well, she's certainly intriguing," he said thoughtfully, his eyes following Amaris as she disappeared around the corner. "There's more to her than meets the eye."

Alaric scoffed, folding his arms across his chest. "Intriguing is one way to put it. Reckless, insolent—those are others." His voice dripped with uncharacteristic frustration.

Isaac chuckled softly, shaking his head. "You're overreacting, Alaric. It's not like she's plotting against the crown. She's just..." He paused, as though searching for the right word. "...different. In a go

The sight of her laughter, so easily bestowed upon someone else, felt like a betrayal of sorts, and he couldn't quite grasp why.He turned back towards the training, forcing himself to focus on the soldiers as they began their arduous task, his jaw set in irritation. Perhaps he was simply protective of those in his court, especially the ones he found intriguing. Chapter 13: Thou shall not anger the KingAs dusk fell over the kingdom, the two sat by the well, the golden light of the setting sun casting long shadows on the cobblestone path. Rosalind squeezed the towel soaked in water from the well and carefully wiped the wound scratches on Amaris's palms."I heard them talking about you since yesterday," Rosalind said, her voice steady yet concerned. "They said you had nothing to do, but I told them you've been with me, cleaning and doing the tasks assigned to us."Amaris groaned at Rosalind's words, rolling her eyes dramatically. "I've been bullied all my life. This is nothing new to me! But seeing you get hurt? Ha! The audacity!" she grumbled, trying to act tough. She smacked her own fist into her palm, but the movement made her flinch as pain shot through her."Behave, Amaris. Your nose is still bleeding. Did you hit your head somewhere?" Chapter 89: Second LifeThe Elysian Empire was a land of grandeur, steeped in tradition and hierarchy. Its people were not only divided by their noble ranks but also by the unique genders bestowed upon them by nature itself. The six genders—male and female alphas, male and female betas, and male and female omegas—shaped the very fabric of their society. Each bore distinct roles, and though unity was idealized, inequality and prejudice often thrived beneath the surface.Alphas were leaders, strong and dominant by nature. Male alphas often held positions of power, while female alphas were just as capable, known for their strength and determination. Both experienced ruts, intense periods when their instincts took over, driving their need for a mate.Betas were the steady, dependable ones. Male betas were the merchants, builders, and thinkers, while female betas were skilled at solving problems and keeping peace. Unlike alphas and omegas, betas didn't have ruts or heats, which made their
